To prepare for installation, ensure
that WebSphere® Message Broker is installed and
choose the components in IBM® WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare that
you want to install.
- Ensure that you have installed the appropriate version
of WebSphere Message Broker. To install Healthcare components, you must
have installed either the WebSphere Message Broker runtime
environment or
the WebSphere Message
Broker Toolkit.

see Installing and uninstalling in the WebSphere Message Broker documentation.
- Uninstall any existing IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare deployments
from the machine on which you plan to install a new version of IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare, see Uninstalling. If
you uninstall IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare, your workspaces
and any WebSphere Message Broker resources that
are contained in those workspaces are not removed.
- Ensure that you can access the installer for IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare. You can access
the installer either from the Passport Advantage® website, or
from the product DVD.

- Decide which components to install.
The following
IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare components are installed
in the selected
WebSphere Message Broker products:
- The MedicalDeviceInput, GenericHL7Input, and GenericHL7Output nodes
are installed in the WebSphere Message Broker runtime
environment.
- The built-in healthcare patterns,
the tooling and configurable services editor for the MedicalDeviceInput node, and
the IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare
information center are installed
in the WebSphere Message
Broker Toolkit. The configurable services editor for
the MedicalDeviceInput node
is also installed in WebSphere Message Broker Explorer.
- The Healthcare Operational Monitoring view and the IBM WebSphere Message Broker Connectivity Pack for Healthcare
information center are installed in the WebSphere Message Broker Explorer.
- Check that your user ID has the required authority to complete
the installation:
On Windows,
your user ID must be a member of the group Administrators, but you
cannot use the ID Administrator.
On Linux,
use either the user ID root, or use another ID and become root.
