Learn about how to use IBM® Installation Manager to install WebSphere® Message Broker Administration
for WebSphere Application
Server.

Ensure
that
IBM Installation Manager is installed and configured.
If you are working with
WebSphere Application
Server Version
7.0, you must complete the following steps before you install the
WebSphere Message Broker feature:
- Install IBM Installation Manager
- Configure links to product and service repositories in IBM Installation Manager
- Import the WebSphere Application
Server installation
into IBM Installation Manager

Install the WebSphere Message Broker administration
package onto your WebSphere Application
Server system
by pointing IBM Installation Manager at the WebSphere Application
Server repository file that is
included in your Message Broker installation.
To install the administration package, complete the following
steps:
- Stop the WebSphere Application
Server server.
Navigate to the install_root/bin or install_root\bin directory,
where install_root is the root installation directory
for WebSphere Application
Server. On a command
line, enter the following command:
server1 is the name of the application
server.
profileName identifies the profile
of the server process in a multi-profile installation. This parameter
is not required for a single-profile installation.
- Open IBM Installation Manager.
For example, on Windows,
click .
- Add Message Broker repository locations to
the IBM Installation Manager list of repositories.
- On the IBM Installation Manager main
panel, click .
- Click Repositories and then Add
repository.
- Click Browse and then navigate
to the location of the Message Broker repositories.
You can copy the repositories onto your local machine or access them
through a shared drive. The files are installed as part of your WebSphere Message
Broker installation at the following
location:
- On Windows: install_dir\tools\wmb.admin.repository.zip
- On Linux, UNIX, and z/OS®: install_dir/tools/wmb.admin.repository.zip
install_dir is
the location of your WebSphere Message
Broker installation.
A
file called wmb.admin.zos.tar is also installed
at the same location as wmb.admin.repository.zip.
To administer broker resources from WebSphere Application
Server on z/OS, you must copy this file onto
the z/OS, system. See Installing the WebSphere Message Broker feature: z/OS.
- Select the repository file and click Open.
- Select the check box beside the Message Broker repository file and clear
all other repository file selections.
- Click OK.
- Install the Message Broker installation
package
- On the main IBM Installation Manager panel,
click Install. The Install Packages
panel is opened.
- On the Install panel, select packages to install. Select the installation package that matches your version of WebSphere Application
Server, and click Next.
- On the Licenses panel, review and accept the product
license. Click I accept the terms in the license
agreement. Click Next.
- If you see a message about running processes that might
interfere with the current operation, you must stop the processes
before the installation can continue.
- On the Location panel, click Use the existing
package group, and select IBM WebSphere Application
Server versionName from
the list of Package Group Names, where versionName is
the version of your WebSphere Application
Server installation. If you select any other package group, an error message is displayed
to say that the product cannot coexist with the selected package group.
Click Next.
- On the Features panel, select the features to install. There is only one feature for this installation package. Select
the WebSphere Message
Broker Administration
feature and click Next.
- On the Summary panel, review the installation summary
and click Install to start the installation.
- When the installation is complete, review the installation
log, and click Finish. You are prompted
to use the manageprofiles command to augment your WebSphere Application
Server profile; see Configuring WebSphere Message Broker Administration for WebSphere Application Server.
Now that you have installed the
WebSphere Message
Broker package, configure the administration
run time by using the
WebSphere Application
Server manageprofiles command.
