Mapping properties
Use the Graphical Data Mapping editor to configure the properties of graphical data maps.
You can set properties at different levels in a graphical data map:
- On the graphical data map:
- Properties of the map are displayed when the focus is on the map
canvas, rather than on an individual item in the map. For example:
- Java™ imports. When you include a Custom Java transform, an import is added to refer to the package qualified Java class, defining a prefix based on the class name. If you need to use custom Java only in condition or filter expressions, you can add Java imports to your Java class so that the class’s public static methods are available through content assist when you are composing an expression. For more information about the Custom Java transform, see Custom Java.
- ESQL imports. When you include a Custom ESQL transform, an import is added to refer to the Broker ESQL file, defining a prefix based on the file name. If you need to use custom ESQL only in condition or filter expressions, you can add ESQL imports to your ESQL file so that the applicable modules are available through content assist when you are composing an expression. For more information about the Custom ESQL transform, see Custom ESQL.
- Scope. Lists the XML schema file imports that define the message model for the input and output elements of the map, and any wild-card elements that have been cast to a specific type or global element. Schema imports are automatically added, but can also be explicitly added if required. For more information, see Mapping casts.
- Cast. Lists the input and output wildcard-elements that have been cast to a specific type or global element. You can remove castings from the map through the Cast properties list. For more information, see Mapping casts.
- Namespaces. Enables you to customize the prefix on the generated output tree.
- Documentation. Enables you to provide a description or other usage notes for the map item.
- On the input and output objects
- Properties of the input and objects provide general information
about the objects. For example:
- Cardinality. Used to select the indices of the input and output elements that you want this transform to operate over. For more information, see Selecting the indices of input and output array elements.
- Variables. Lists the names allocated to refer to the input elements connected to the transform.
- Condition/Filter. You can provide a conditional expression on a transform so that the transform is applied only if the expression is evaluated to true. For transforms that operate on a repeating input element, the Filter condition expression is evaluated for each input. The Condition expression is constructed using mapping syntax. - Order. Displays the order of input connections to a transform, and enables you to reorder them.
- On the elements of the input and output objects
- A General property displays information about the elements. This properties is used for information only, and cannot be modified.
When you are working with the maximized view
of the Graphical Data Mapping editor, you can bring the Properties
pane back into focus (so that you can display or update a property
setting) in either of the following ways:
- Right-click the object and then select .
- Use the appropriate keyboard combination, which, by default, is Alt+Enter. You can configure these shortcut keys by selecting .
