Service creation workflow overview

This information describes the workflow to create a service in WebSphere® Message Broker.

A Service in WebSphere Message Broker is a specialized application with a well-defined interface and structure, and one or more generated message flows for each service operation. For more information, see Services.

For information about other web services scenarios, including gateway scenarios, see the Web services scenarios section.

To create a service, you must first define the service interface, and then implement the operations that are defined in the interface.

Complete the following steps to create a service:

  1. Create the service interface. Choose from one of the following options:
  2. If the service is not based on imported WSDL, specify the interface by defining the operations. See Defining a service interface.
  3. Implement the service operations. Use the Service editor to implement each service operation as a subflow. See Implementing a service operation.
  4. Optional: Implement the error handler subflows. Use the Service editor to implement a subflow for each available error handler. See Implementing a service error handler subflow.
  5. Optional: Generate your own HTTP binding for the service. See Generating a service SOAP/HTTP binding. You can instead use the default HTTP binding that is generated when the service is created.
  6. Deploy the service to an execution group. For more information, see Packaging and deploying.
  7. View the deployed service by using WebSphere Message Broker Explorer, the web user interface, or the WebSphere Application Server administration console. For more information, see one of the following topics.
