Uninstalling the Broker component by using the graphical interface

Remove the Broker component by using the graphical interface.

Always use the WebSphere® Message Broker uninstallation wizard to remove the Broker component, unless otherwise stated. Do not use the uninstallation program that is provided by the operating system; for example, geninstall on AIX®, or swremove on HP-UX.

For information about the graphical interface and alternative interfaces available, see How to install and uninstall the Broker component.

To start the graphical interface of the uninstaller, complete the following steps:

  1. Stop all running processes that are associated with brokers before you uninstall. Use the mqsilist command to check which brokers are running. Use the mqsistop command to stop each broker.
  2. On Windows, Linux on x86, and Linux on x86-64, end all active sessions of the WebSphere Message Broker Toolkit.
  3. If you do not plan to reinstall brokers on this computer, delete all the brokers that are associated with this installation by using the mqsideletebroker command. When you delete a broker, all its associated data and resources are deleted.
  4. By default, the uninstaller launches in the graphical, console, or silent mode previously used to install the Broker component. For example, if the installation uses the silent interface, the uninstaller defaults to using the silent interface. The uninstaller mode can be overridden on the command line by specifying the -i swing, -i console, or -i silent flags. However, the -i swing flag is optional for the GUI interface; the uninstaller defaults to GUI mode when no flag is specified. Run the following command from outside the installation directory, specifying the full path. This method of invocation ensures that the full directory structure is removed during uninstallation. Where install_dir is the home directory of your WebSphere Message Broker installation:
    • On Windows:
      \install_dir\Uninstaller\Uninstaller.exe
    • On Linux:
      /install_dir/Uninstaller/Uninstaller
If you accepted the default location during installation, this directory is as follows. The default directory includes the version, release, modification, and fix of the product that you are installing in the format v.r.m.f (version.release.modification.fix):
    Linux
    /opt/ibm/mqsi/v.r.m.f
    UNIX
    /opt/IBM/mqsi/v.r.m.f
    Windows 32-bit
    C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\v.r.m.f
    Windows 64-bit
C:\Program Files\IBM\MQSI\v.r.m.f for the 64-bit version of WebSphere Message Broker
C:\Program Files (x86)\IBM\MQSI\v.r.m.f for the 32-bit version of WebSphere Message Broker
These locations define the default value of install_dir on each platform.

Alternatively, if you have a single installation of the Broker component on Windows, you can navigate to Start > Settings > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs. Select WebSphere Message Broker and click Change/Remove.

    The uninstaller graphical interface opens.
  5. Follow the prompts to complete uninstallation.
