Creating and configuring a database for recording data

To record data, create a database and configure an ODBC definition to it. Configure your broker so that it can connect to the database.

Before you start:

Read the concept topic Record and replay. For an overview of tasks you must complete to record data, see Recording data.

You can record data to a database for audit purposes, or to help with problem determination.

A script is provided with WebSphere® Message Broker that you can use to create the database and database tables. You can run this script unmodified, or you can customize it. The script creates a database called MBRECORD with a default schema. After creating the database, you create an ODBC definition to identify the data source name (DSN) for the database. You use the mqsisetdbparms command to set a user identifier and password for the broker to use when connecting to the database.
