Configuring environments without the Broker component installed to run Message Broker Java API applications

Install and run Message Broker Java™ API applications on computers, when you are using a local ID only, on which you have not installed the Broker component.

You can run Java applications that use the Message Broker Java API even where you have not installed the Broker component.

To install Message Broker Java API applications in an environment that does not have the Broker component installed, complete the following steps:

  1. Ensure that the target computer has a compatible Java Runtime Environment (JRE). Because you are not installing the Broker component, which includes a JRE, you must use an alternative option.

Note, that you must also set MQSI_REPATH.

Java support is defined in Additional software requirements.

  2. Copy the following set of files from a computer that has the Broker component installed to the target computer:
    1. ConfigManagerProxy.jar from the classes directory.
    2. Your Message Broker Java API application and all configuration files.
  3. On the target computer, use system facilities to update the CLASSPATH environment variable to include the following files:
    • The JAR file that contains the definitions of the Message Broker Java API classes, ConfigManagerProxy.jar.
    • Your applications that import the Message Broker Java API classes.

Next: You can run your Message Broker Java API applications, on the target computer. For examples of code that uses the Message Broker Java API, see Examples of Message Broker Java API code.
