Configure the service monitor server and agent in the administrative console in order to begin monitoring service operations.

Before you begin
Deploy the administration widgets.

Required security role for this task: If administrative security is enabled, you must be logged in with an administrative role to perform this task.

About this task
The service monitor server and agent are categorized as resource environment providers and can be configured in the console with a set of custom properties.
Procedure
  1. Log into the administrative console with administrator privileges.
  2. Click Resources > Resource Environment > Resource Environment Providers.
  3. If you are modifying an existing configuration, do the following:
    1. Click the name of the configuration you want to modify.
    2. Click Custom properties to open the Custom properties page for the server or agent configuration, and then make your changes.
    3. Skip to Step 6.
  4. If you are configuring service monitoring for the first time, create a resource environment provider for the service monitor server and then enable the server, as follows:
    1. From the Resource environment providers page, set the scope to the support cluster or stand-alone server that will host the service monitor server.
    2. Click New.
    3. Type com.ibm.bpm.servicemonitor.server in the Name field and then click OK.
    4. Enable the service monitor server by clicking Custom Properties and setting the enable property to true on the Custom Properties page. See Service monitoring properties.
    5. Optional: Set any other service monitor server properties on the Custom Properties page. Note that if you do not explicitly add a property, the server still uses it with the default value defined.
  5. Create the resource environment provider for the service monitor agent and enable the agent, as follows:
    1. From the Resource environment providers page, set the scope to the application cluster or stand-alone server that hosts your business applications.
    2. Click New.
    3. Type com.ibm.bpm.servicemonitor.agent in the Name field and then click OK.
    4. Enable the service monitor agent by clicking Custom Properties and setting the enable property to true on the Custom Properties page. See Service monitoring properties.
    5. Optional: Set any other service monitor agent properties on the Custom Properties page. Note that if you do not explicitly add a property, the agent still uses it with the default value defined.
  6. Save your changes to the master configuration, making sure to synchronize any nodes.
