Create Deployment Environment

Use this page as the first step to configure your deployment environment. The deployment environment includes the application deployment target for your applications and the all other clusters needed to support the application deployment target.

To view this administrative console page, click Servers > Deployment Environments > New.

This is the first page of the wizard that guides you through the process of creating your deployment environment. Use this page to either define the new deployment environment or to import a file that contains deployment environment definitions. You can create a deployment environment based on one of the IBM-supplied patterns or you can create a custom deployment environment.

Create Deployment Environment

You can base this deployment environment on one of the IBM-supplied patterns, use your own design or use a design that you exported previously. When you import a design, the deployment manager must be able to access the file containing that design.

Create a new deployment environment
Check this option to create a new deployment environment without using a previously exported definition.
Load an external deployment environment definition
Check this option to use an existing deployment environment definition file that was previously exported as the basis of your new deployment environment. The system uses the definitions in the file to pre-fill other panels in the wizard. You can either specify the full path name in File path or use Browse to locate the existing topology definition file.

Deployment Environment Name

The name used to identify the new deployment environment. When you select Load an external topology definition, the system makes this field unavailable and imports the name from the topology definition file. If a topology definition exists with the same name, you will receive a warning and be prompted to supply a unique name for the import to complete.

Property Value
Data type String
Default None
Range Any string identifier for the deployment topology. This system may use this name to name clusters and cluster members that are created in your environment. Use a short and concise name to identify the created clusters and to ensure that the named resources are not getting too long.

Runtime Capability

Specifies whether the deployment environment contains WebSphere Process Server (WPS) or WebSphere Enterprise Server Bus (WESB) capability. This selection is not available when you are loading a deployment environment definition file.

Property Value
Data type Array
Default Depends on the deployment manager.
  • For a WESB: WESB
  • For a WPS: WPS
Range Depends on the deployment manager.
  • For WESB: WESB
  • For WPS: WPS or WESB

Show only steps that need my attention

Specifies which steps the wizard displays to you. Selecting this option displays only the configuration steps that do not have default values.

Property Value
Data type Binary
Default Unchecked
Range Checked or unchecked
