Security Manager

Use Security Manager to assign members (users and groups) to roles associated with the Business Calendar Manager module. These module roles determine the level of access that members have to timetables. You can also use Security Manager to assign system roles.

A timetable is a schedule of times that indicates availability (such as Monday to Friday).

When a timetable is created, three module roles are automatically associated with the timetable: Reader, Writer, or Owner.

Two system roles are associated with Security Manager.

Assigning system roles

In Security Manager, the BPMAdmin user can assign members to the BPMRoleManager role.

As BPMAdmin, complete the following steps to assign a user or group to the BPMRoleManager role:

  1. Click the BPMRoleManager role.
  2. In the window on the right side of the page, click Add.
  3. Type a name (or part of a name) and click Search.
  4. From the list that is displayed, select one or more users or groups and click OK.
  5. When you have assigned all members to this role, click Save.

Note that the role assignments are not saved to the database until you click Save. If you want to undo the changes, click Reset.

Deleting system role assignments

As BPMAdmin, complete the following steps to delete a user or users from the BPMRoleManager role:

  1. Click the BPMRoleManager role.
  2. In the window on the right side of the page, select one or more users or groups from the list and click Delete.
  3. When you have deleted all members from this role, click Save.

Assigning module roles

In Security Manager, the BPMRoleManager can assign members to all module roles (Owner, Writer, or Reader). In addition, the owner of a timetable can assign members to the Owner, Writer, and Reader roles for that timetable.

The BPMRoleManager or timetable owner can assign either individual members to a role or can assign all members to a role. For example, as the owner of a timetable, you might want to allow all users to view the timetable.

To assign individual members to a module role, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Module Chooser list, select a timetable.
  2. For a role (for example, the Writer role for the timetable), click the name of the role and then perform the following steps:
    1. In the window on the right side of the page, click Add.
    2. Type a name (or part of a name) and click Search.
    3. From the list that is displayed, select one or more users or groups and click OK.
  3. When you have assigned all members to all roles, click Save.

To assign all members to a module role, complete the following steps:

  1. From the Module Chooser list, select a timetable.
  2. For a role (for example, the Reader role for the timetable), click the name of the role.
  3. Select All Authenticated.
  4. Click Save.

Note that the role assignments are not saved to the database until you click Save. If you want to undo the changes, click Reset.
