Create a business vocabulary

The Vocabulary widget helps John and his team create and change the business vocabulary that an application or service uses.

Using the Vocabulary widget, John and his team can perform the following tasks:
  • Create new vocabulary.
  • Change a business vocabulary for a group of business users for a specific project.
  • Remove a vocabulary.
  • Provide change and authorization management within the scope of a business space.

In the Vocabulary widget, John must either enter a new vocabulary name or add a vocabulary from the WebSphere® Business Services Fabric repository.

To create a new business vocabulary, John and his team complete the following steps:

  1. Log into Business Manager.
  2. Open the JK Policy Renewal business space.
  3. Select the Vocabulary Browser page The Vocabulary Browser page opens and John can see a Vocabulary widget embedded in this page.
  4. From the Actions menu, select Create a New Vocabulary and click OK. A window opens requesting the service name, description, and tags.
  5. Enter the name of the new business vocabulary (JK Insurance Vocabulary), a description of the service, and any tags that you want associated with the JK Insurance vocabulary. Click OK. An overview of the new business vocabulary is displayed. The vocabulary is now created in the WebSphere Business Services Fabric repository, added to the business space, and displayed in the Vocabulary widget.

Add an existing vocabulary to the Fabric Authoring business space

A member of John's team, the Vocabulary process owner, is assigned the responsibility of changing the company's existing insurance vocabulary, which requires her to complete the following steps:
  1. Log into Business Space
  2. Open the Fabric Authoring business space.
  3. Select the Vocabulary Browser page. The Vocabulary Browser page is loaded and John can see a Vocabulary Browser widget embedded in the page.
  4. From the Actions menu, select Add existing vocabulary to space.
  5. Select JK Insurance Vocabulary and click OK. The JK Insurance Vocabulary is now added to the space and is displayed in the Vocabulary widget.
John and his team can also perform the following functions using the Vocabulary widget:
  • View the details of a vocabulary and modify them.
  • Create a new concept in the vocabulary.
  • Establish relationships between vocabulary concepts.
  • Remove a vocabulary concept.
