The Managing My Tasks scenario
describes how you can use Business Space to do your
work.
This scenario uses widgets that contain content from WebSphere® Process Server and WebSphere Business Monitor. If a product
is not installed, Business Space replaces
its widgets with an image and a message.
If a space based on
the Managing My Tasks template is not
available, see Creating a Managing My Tasks space for
an example of creating a space using this template. Some of the steps
and information might not apply for your situation. Adapt the scenario
to fit your needs.
In this scenario, you are responsible for
sending out quotations for orders. Creating each quotation request
is a separate task. One of the requirements is that a customer must
receive a quotation within 24 hours of asking for one.
Imagine
that your daily responsibilities include monitoring the queue of quote
requests and handling the requests. You also claim unassigned tasks
to work on them. To perform these responsibilities, you use Business Space and complete
the following steps:
- Log onto Business Space and
open the space that you use for monitoring quote requests.
- Work on the quote requests by completing the tasks in the
way described in steps 1 to 4 in the Managing your work scenario scenario.
- Gauges in the KPIs widget
show the ages of the quote requests. One of the gauges shows that
there is one quote request that is older than 24 hours. Additionally,
the Alerts widget
displays a message about this quote request. When you open the quote
request, you discover that you need a cost analysis from another department
to complete the request. To get this additional information, you perform
the following steps:
- Switch to the Create Tasks page.
- Using the Create Tasks and Task Information widgets,
you create a To-do task to obtain the cost analysis, set it as high
priority, and assign it to someone in the other department.
- After a while, you want to see whether the person has completed
you task.
- If the person completed the task and clicked Submit,
you can find the task in the Tasks I Created widget
when you set it to display finished tasks and sorted by start date.
The task is at or near the top of the list because you created it
today.
- If the person has not completed the task or has returned or
transferred the task, you can find the task in the Tasks I Created widget
when you set it to display started tasks and sorted by start date.
You discover that the person has completed the task and
has provided you with the information that you need.
- Using the information you received, you create a quote
and send it to the customer.
