Drilling instances

Use the drill-down functionality to see instances that are associated with a top-level or parent monitoring context directly from the Instances widget. Use this procedure to drill down on monitoring context instances to see related or child instance information.

The following procedure assumes that the Instances widget has been configured and is displaying data for a monitoring context.
  1. From the Instances widget, go to the column labeled with the monitoring context name.
  2. In the row of the instance for which you want to drill down, click Drill-down arrow icon. The associated instance is displayed in the Instances table. (When no associated instance exists, the drill-down icon is disabled.)

When you drill down to a child instance, the metrics shown are based on what has been customized for the monitoring context. When there are no customizations for the monitoring context, all metrics are shown.

  3. To return to the previous monitoring context instance, click Drill Up. (The Drill Up button is displayed below the Instances table and is visible only after a drill down has occurred.)
