Hiding widgets

You can hid a widget so that it does not display on a page.

A hidden widget is fully functional but does not display on a page unless you choose to display all widgets. Typically, you hide widgets such as the Script Adapter widget, which, instead of displaying business data, transforms the data so that another widget can use it.

An option on the page menu determines whether the page displays only the visible widgets or it displays all widgets, including the hidden widgets. If the page is displaying all widgets, you can distinguish the hidden widgets from the visible widgets by looking at their frames. A visible widget has a solid frame while a hidden widget has a dashed frame. In the following screen capture, the widget on the left is a visible widget while the widget on the right is a hidden widget.

To hide a widget:

  1. Open the widget menu by clicking its menu icon .
  2. Click Convert to Hidden Widget. If you have set the page to show all widgets or you have left the page with its default setting, the widget has the dashed frame of a hidden widget but remains visible. If you have set the page to show only the visible widgets, the widget is no longer visible.
  3. To set the page to display visible widgets only and to hide the hidden widgets, click the page menu and select Show Visible Widget Only.
