You can use the administrative console to create a cluster
with one cluster member in an empty managed node. The benefit of using
the administrative console to create the cluster is that you can undo
your changes as you go, and you can use a graphical user interface.
It is good practice to create a cluster because it makes it easier
to develop the cluster later. For example, you can add more servers
to clusters for reasons of scalability.
Procedure
- Log in to the administrative console and navigate to .
- Click New.
- Type a name for the cluster, and type a short name. For
guidance see Application server naming convention plan strategy in the WebSphere® Application Server for
z/OS information center.
- Click Next.
- Type the cluster member names for the server.
- From the Select node list, select the node in which
you want to define the server.
- Type the short name for the server.
- Select the button to create the member using an application
server template.
- Select defaultESBServerZOS from
the drop-down list as the application server template with which to
create the cluster member.
- Click Next. A
blank form is displayed, which you can use to define a second cluster
member. The server you have just created is listed at the bottom of
the screen.
- Click Next.
- Check the details on the summary screen and click Finish.
- Save your changes, ensuring that you synchronise the changes
with the nodes. The cluster you have just created
is displayed in the list.
- Customize the port numbers to suit your configuration,
and if necessary the virtual host ports. See techdoc TD104066 for directions, and for a jython script
to assist you. See Creating new Application Servers in WAS V6.1 for z/OS®.
Results
The cluster is created with your chosen server in the managed
node as the first cluster member.
What to do next
You can now configure SCA support for a server or cluster.
See
Configuring
SCA support for a server or cluster. You can then optionally
configure additional Business Process Management components, for example
Business Process Choreographer, as described in the Configuring the
software section. See
Configuring
the software.
