Creating a filter

Use this procedure to create an Instances filter.

  1. From the Instances widget title bar, click Menu icon and select Configure or Personalize. The Show/Hide tab opens.
  2. Select the Filters tab.
  3. Select the monitoring context that you are creating a filter for and click Add to create the first line of filter criteria.
  4. From the drop-down lists, select a Metric and an Operator.
  5. Click in the Value field and enter a filter value. For a boolean filter, select either True or False.
  6. To make your filter value case-sensitive, select the Case sensitive check box.
  7. To create an additional filter criteria line, click Add. (To delete a filter criteria line, click delete icon.)
  8. To set a time filter:
    1. Under Time Reference, choose from the following options:
      • Last completed period
      • Current period
      • Sliding interval
      • Fixed interval
  9. For a Last completed period filter, select a period, time metric, time zone, and location (optional).
  10. For a Current period filter, select a period, time metric, time zone, and location (optional).
  11. For a Sliding interval filter, select the number of (years, months, days, hours, minutes) to slide back, select a period, and a time metric.
  12. For a Fixed interval filter, select a metric, time zone and location (optional), and specify a From and To date range using Calendar icon. The locations available for repeating and fixed filters vary depending on the time zone selected.
  13. Under Description, enter a description for the filter you are creating. From the Instances display, this information appears when you move the mouse pointer over the Information icon information icon.
  14. To save and return to Instances, click Save. To save and continue making changes, click Apply. To exit without saving, click Cancel.
