WebSphere Business Space powered by WebSphere, Version 6.2.0

Working with bookmarks

Using Dimensions, you can customize the multidimensional reports and save the customizations using bookmarks. You can also set a default customized view using the "Set as Default" function.

You must have dimensions displayed in view mode in order to use bookmarks. When using Mozilla Firefox to view your dashboards, you must configure the Web browser to not block pop-up messages. From the Mozilla Firefox toolbar, click Tools > Options > Content and either clear the Block pop-up windows check box or add your dashboard URL to the Exceptions list.

Saving a bookmark

  1. Drill down to a specific view of a dimension.
  2. Click Save Bookmark. The Save Bookmark window will open.
  3. Type the name of your bookmark.
  4. Optional: Type a description of the bookmark to help remember what the bookmark will display.
  5. Optional: Change the visibility access of the bookmark from private to public. The default is private.
  6. To save the bookmark and close the window, click Save. To exit without saving the bookmark, click Cancel.

Loading a bookmark

  1. When viewing any dimension, click Load Bookmark. The Load Bookmark window opens.
  2. From the list of bookmarks, select the one you want to load.
  3. To exit and load the bookmark, click Load. To exit without loading a bookmark, click Cancel.

Setting default views

To set a specific view of a dimension as your default:
  1. Drill down to a specific view of a dimension.
  2. To save the dimension view, click Set as Default.

The next time you log into WebSphere® Business Monitor, your set default dimension view will be displayed. If you do not log out, but want to return to your default dimension view, load the bookmark named SavedViewBkmk. However, if you change your settings in Personalize mode, your default dimension view will be reset.

To set a specific view of a dimension as the shared default:

Note: Before setting a view as a shared default, the administrator should have configured the portlet with default settings for all users. (See topic below for instructions.)
When you set a specific view of a dimension as the "shared default", it will be the default for all users who have not yet personalized Dimensions.
  1. Drill down to a specific view of a dimension.
  2. To save the dimension view, click Set Shared Default. (This button will only be available to users with Editor user access or above.)
The shared default is used until a user sets his own default bookmark.

Configuring the portlet with default settings for all users

(This is an administrator-level task.)
  1. From the main page of your portlet-based dashboard, click Portlets to view the portlet palette.
  2. From the portlet palette title bar, open the drop-down menu and select Edit Shared Settings.

The updates you make here will affect all users who view the portlet palette on this page. The changes will not be reflected on any instances of this portlet that appear on other pages.

  3. To exit out of Edit Shared Settings mode, open the drop-down menu in the portlet palette title bar and select Back.
