Before you can install WebSphere® ESB for z/OS®, you must install and configure WebSphere Application Server for z/OS. If you have an existing WebSphere Application Server for z/OS network deployment cell, create a new empty WebSphere Application Server node on which to install WebSphere ESB; you can then federate the node into the existing cell.
Before you install WebSphere Application Server you must install the WebSphere Services Feature Pack product. See Installing the Feature Pack for Web Services on z/OS systems for more details.
Stand alone server configuration
If you are creating a stand alone server configuration for WebSphere ESB, you must first create a stand alone application server configuration with the Feature pack for Web Services configured. See Creating a stand-alone application server cell in the WebSphere Application Server information center and Installing the Feature Pack for Web Services on z/OS systems for more information.
Creating a WebSphere Application Server stand alone server configuration provides you with the default profile that you will augment with WebSphere ESB configuration data.
See Building a practice WebSphere Application Server for z/OS cell for information about creating a practice stand-alone configuration.
Network deployment server configuration
If you are creating a network deployment configuration, you must create a WebSphere deployment manager node with the Web Services Feature Pack configured. See Creating a Network Deployment cell and Installing the Feature Pack for Web Services on z/OS systems in the WebSphere Application Server. infocenter for more information.
Creating a WebSphere Application Server deployment manager creates the default WebSphere Application Server profile that you will augment with WebSphere ESB functions.
