When administrative security is enabled, to shut down the
server you must provide the appropriate user name and password. The
server will start without authentication, but that authentication
is required to access the administrative console.
Before you begin
Administrative security must be enabled.
Procedure
- Start the server.
The following
table describes the options for starting the server.

 On Linux® and UNIX® platforms: startserver.sh servername
On System i (from
the QShell command line): startserver servername at
a command prompt in the install_dir/bin directory.

Note: You are not required to provide a user name and password
to start the server. However, you will need to authenticate yourself
if you try to launch the administrative console or perform any other
administrative task.
The server starts or
an en error message is returned.
- Stop the server.
The following
table describes the options for stopping the server.

The user name provided must be a member of the operator or administrator
role.

- Check that the server stopped successfully
