Checking the workspace log

Use the workspace log file to find and troubleshoot problems with your help system.

About this task

As an Eclipse-based product, the help system stores detailed information about its execution and performance in log files. The workspace log file contains detailed descriptions of the possible causes for your errors.

Complete the following steps to check the workspace log file for possible errors.

Procedure
  1. Navigate to the workspace log file. By default, the log file is created in the following directory: <eclipse_home>/workspace/.metadata/.
  2. Stop the help system. For more information on stopping the help system, see Stopping the help system.
  3. Examine the workspace log file.
  4. When you have finished troubleshooting your errors, restart the help system.
