A business space is created using the predefined pages
provided by the Fabric Authoring template.
In this part of the scenario, John has ensured that the
following products are installed and are configured already:
- WebSphere® Business
Services Fabric
- WebSphere Integration
Developer
- WebSphere Process
Server
- WebSphere Business
Monitor
- WebSphere Business
Modeler

As a business analyst at JK Insurance,
John is responsible for creating and implement the above three requirements
for a policy renewal application, an Underwrite Risk business service,
and a JK insurance business vocabulary. John and his team of business
analysts define all of the business objects that are associated with
the Policy Renewal process.
As a first step in the process,
John contacts the IT department to ensure that he is authorized to
use the WebSphere Business
Services Fabric repository. Then he creates the JK Policy Renewal
business space using the WebSphere Business
Services Fabric widgets, which are included in the Fabric Authoring
template, where he will perform the following tasks:
- Create a Policy Renewal application, a Underwrite Risk business
service, and a JK Insurance business vocabulary.
- Provide access to his team of business analysts to the new JK
Policy Renewal business space by adding them to join the business
space.
- Choose to perform one or all of the following functions:
- Application authoring
- Create and change applications and application level policies
for a group of business users for a specific project initiative.
- Define and change services and vocabularies that an application
uses.
- Service authoring
- Create and change business services and service level policies
by a group of business users for a specific project initiative.
- Vocabulary authoring
- Create and change business vocabularies by a group of business
users for a specific project initiatives.
To create a new Business Space for his Policy Renewal
project, John completes the following steps:
- Log in to Business Space.
- If the Business Space Manager is not open, click Manage
Business Spaces.
- Click the Create Space icon. The Business Space creation
window opens.
- Type the name for the new space: JK Policy Renewal
Space. Select the Fabric Authoring template and click OK. The new business space is displayed in the Manage Business
Space screen and the following pages are listed as part of the space:
- Getting Started
- Application Browser
- Service Browser
- Vocabulary Browser
- Governance
