Add the Alerts widget to a dashboard so that you can view alert notifications of predefined business situations.
A predefined business situation for a catalog sales company, for example, could be when the average response time to process an order is exceeded. When the order processing unit exceeds the limit set for average response time, an alert notification is sent to the manager so that the manger can immediately take corrective action if needed.
There are two ways that enable an end user to view alerts, by model design and by subscription. Generally, an administrator-level user designs models with specific business situations defined and certain users are selected to receive alert notifications when the situations occur. Alert notifications can be sent to a dashboard, pager, or cell phone, or sent in an e-mail message. End users, in addition to the users who were selected to receive alerts when the model was designed, can subscribe to view the same alerts using the Alert Manager dashboard widget.
