Use command files on your computer to start the help system.
Before you begin
You must have a version of the help system installed on your
workstation.
Procedure
- To start the help system in stand-alone mode, complete
the following steps:
- Go to the directory into which you installed the help
system.
- Run the appropriate help_start script:
- On Linux® and UNIX® platforms: help_start.sh
- On Windows® platforms: help_start.bat
It might take a few minutes for the system to start.
- To start the help system in Infocenter mode, complete the
following steps:
- Go to the directory into which you installed the help
system.
- Change the port on which the Infocenter
server starts. By default, the Infocenter server starts
on port 8888. If you want the infocenter to start on a different port,
edit the start script (listed in the next step) and change the -port
setting; for example, -port 9876.
- Run the appropriate help_start script:
- On Linux and UNIX platforms: IC_start.sh
- On Windows platforms: IC_start.bat
A command-line window is displayed, showing
the start script running.
