Choosing a database depends on your operating system and on the features that you will use. During the installation procedure, the wizards prompt you to select your databases. Under some circumstances you can operate with only one database containing several tables.
The following table shows a mapping between the various WebSphere® ESB components and the corresponding databases which contain the tables related to these components.
On i5/OS® platforms, instead of separate databases as shown here for other distributed platforms, the same component tables reside in uniquely named database collections.
For the latest information on platform-specific disk space requirements, supported operating systems, and the operating system fixes and patches that you must install to have a compliant operating system, see WebSphere ESB detailed system requirements at http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg27006912 and select the link to your version of WebSphere ESB.
