Fabric Authoring template

A business space is created using the predefined pages provided by the Fabric Authoring template.

In this part of the scenario, John has ensured that the following products are installed and are configured already:
  • WebSphere® Business Services Fabric
  • WebSphere Integration Developer
  • WebSphere Process Server
  • WebSphere Business Monitor
  • WebSphere Business Modeler

To understand how the products are configured, John needs to refer to the respective documentation available in the WebSphere Business Process Management information center: http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/dmndhelp/v6r2mx/index.jsp

As a business analyst at JK Insurance, John is responsible for creating and implement the above three requirements for a policy renewal application, an Underwrite Risk business service, and a JK insurance business vocabulary. John and his team of business analysts define all of the business objects that are associated with the Policy Renewal process.

As a first step in the process, John contacts the IT department to ensure that he is authorized to use the WebSphere Business Services Fabric repository. Then he creates the JK Policy Renewal business space using the WebSphere Business Services Fabric widgets, which are included in the Fabric Authoring template, where he will perform the following tasks:
  • Create a Policy Renewal application, a Underwrite Risk business service, and a JK Insurance business vocabulary.
  • Provide access to his team of business analysts to the new JK Policy Renewal business space by adding them to join the business space.
  • Choose to perform one or all of the following functions:
    • Application authoring
      • Create and change applications and application level policies for a group of business users for a specific project initiative.
      • Define and change services and vocabularies that an application uses.
    • Service authoring
      • Create and change business services and service level policies by a group of business users for a specific project initiative.
    • Vocabulary authoring
      • Create and change business vocabularies by a group of business users for a specific project initiatives.

To create a new Business Space for his Policy Renewal project, John completes the following steps:

  1. Log in to Business Space.
  2. If the Business Space Manager is not open, click Manage Business Spaces.
  3. Click the Create Space icon. The Business Space creation window opens.
  4. Type the name for the new space: JK Policy Renewal Space. Select the Fabric Authoring template and click OK. The new business space is displayed in the Manage Business Space screen and the following pages are listed as part of the space:
    • Getting Started
    • Application Browser
    • Service Browser
    • Vocabulary Browser
    • Governance

Adding users to the space

In Business Space, the concept of a team is closely tied to the business space that the team is provided access to. A business space owner determines the access rights to a certain space and its contents using the Business Service Lifecycle Management business space. To enable his team to access the content and business objects that the JK Policy Renewal business space contains, John completes the following steps:
  1. Log in to Business Space.
  2. If the Business Space Manager is not open, click Manage Business Spaces.
  3. From the list, select JK Policy Renewal Space.
  4. Select Share with the following users.
  5. Add the required team members or users from the Viewers and Editors lists and then click Save. The new users are displayed in both the Viewers and Editors lists. The changes are saved and John's team of new users can now access the JK Policy Renewal business space.
