Use the Publishing Server Manager to
release projects, delete elements, or purge databases.
Use the Publishing Server Manager widget
with the Publishing Server Status widget.
In a typical scenario, you might be trying to delete an element in
your review using the Delete Elements view
in the Publishing Server Manager widget.
When the job is submitted to the server, the standing is tracked in
the job status table in the Publishing Server Status widget.
The
Publishing Server Manager widget
includes the following sections:
- Release Project view
- Use this view to move a project that has matured and has been
thoroughly vetted from the Draft Artifacts page
to the Released Artifacts page.
This is known as releasing a project.
- Once released, the project no longer exists on the Draft Artifacts page.
If you want the project to be in both pages simultaneously, you would
release the project, and then republish it to the Draft Artifacts page.
- You can also release a project that already exists in the Released Artifacts page.
Re-releasing an existing project replaces the released version with
the version that was on the Draft Artifacts page.
- To release a project, select it from the list in the Release Project view
and click Release.
- Once you have released it, you will have to confirm that the correct
people can view it on the Released Artifacts page.
Use the The Publishing Server Access Control widget to
configure the necessary access rights.
- Delete Elements view
- Use this view to remove elements or comments from the system.
- The publishing server stores elements and their associated comments
separately. This means that you can choose to delete one or the other,
or even both.
- If you delete the elements while preserving the comments associated
with them, then, should the elements be republished, the elements
will retain the comments associated with their previous version.
- If you select to delete comments from an element, you are deleting
all of the comment threads associated with the element. If you want
delete specific comment threads or responses, you must do it in the Comments widget.
- The Delete Elements view
uses a tree with expandable nodes to display the various folders from
which you can delete elements. Preceding each element or folder name
is a set of two interactive icons that are used to configure deletion
options.
- For example, a node on the tree might show the following set of
icons:
- In order, the two icons behind the plus sign indicate: Delete
Element | Delete Comment.
- Click on any of these icons to cycle through the various options,
and click Delete.
- Here is what each of the icons mean:

nested within this folder have been marked for deletion. |
Note: Because the elements in the two Released folders
have no comments associated with them, you will only see the option
to delete the elements nested there.
- Purge Database view
- Use this view to completely remove specific publishing server
data from the database.
- Each Business space has its own set of database tables for publishing
server data. When you purge a table for one space, the other spaces
are not affected. The purge completely removes the data from the table
you specify. The table structure remains intact so you can add data
immediately.
- The Purge Database view
gives you the options of deleting various elements of either draft
or released databases. You can delete projects and access rights for
both, but comments can only be purged from draft databases.
If you purge all three options from a draft database, you are, in
essence, resetting the publishing server for the current space.
- To purge a database, make an appropriate selection in the Purge Database view,
and click Purge.
