Refreshing a TOC after adding or changing plugins

When you use the update feature of the help system, the help system should refresh the navigation. If that does not happen, you can manually refresh the help system TOC.

Before you begin

Before you try to update the TOC manually, confirm that the updated or changed plug-ins have been installed on your system and restart the help system.

About this task

Sometimes the TOC doesn't update because the cache interferes with the help system's ability to display the updated plug-ins. If the TOC is still incorrect after confirming your updated plug-ins are present and restarting the help system, then try the following solution.
Procedure
  1. Navigate to the update log file. By default, the update log file is created in the following directory: <eclipse_home>/configuration/*.log.
  2. Stop the help system. For more information on stopping the help system, see Stopping the help system.
  3. Delete all files under the directory <eclipse_home>/configuration except the config.ini file.
  4. Restart the help system.

Results

The help system will display the updated features or plug-ins in the navigation.
