Client Installation

File Manager® plug-in for Eclipse is available for installation via the P2 Eclipse provisioning platform.

Under CICS Explorer™, follow the steps below:

  1. Click Help > Install New Software...
  2. Click Add
  3. Specify the File Manager® plug-in location in the Location field. This will be either a specific update site URL (e.g. http://example.com/updatesite/, a local mirror of the update site (e.g. file:/C:/updatesite/), or an archive file (e.g. jar:file:/C:/updatesite.zip!/).
  4. Click OK
  5. Select the appropriate features for your installation environment
  6. Click Next to review the installation details
  7. Click Next and review the license agreement(s)
  8. If you accept the license agreements, select I accept the terms of the license agreement
  9. Click Finish and wait for the IBM File Manager® plug-in to be installed. If you see a warning about unsigned content, click OK
  10. Once the installation is complete, a prompt to restart CICS Explorer™ will appear; click Restart Now to restart your Eclipse environment (e.g. CICS Explorer) and complete the installation.

Any P2 platform errors that are reported, such as "plug-in dependency not resolved", must be resolved.

Showing the Systems Information View

Once installed successfully, the File Manager® plug-in's Systems Information view, which is the main view of the File Manager® plug-in, can be shown:

  1. (optional) Click Window > Open Perspective > Resource
  2. Click Window > Show View > Other
  3. Expand File Manager
  4. Click Systems Information
  5. Click OK

Note that you can drag the view to a more desirable location: it is recommended to drag the view to the top left corner of the window so that it is taller than it is wide.
