What’s new in this release?
Version 1.1.0.1 adds enhancements to
the CICS® TG plug-in V1.1.0.0:
- Fixes APAR PM55935
- No scroll bar in the New connection link window.
Version 1.1.0.0 added enhancements to the CICS® TG plug-in V1.0:
- Column sorting - You can sort columns in the Gateway daemons and
CICS connections views by clicking the column heading. Clicking the
heading again toggles the ascending or descending order in that column.
If you click another column any previous sort is replaced by the new
one. Sorting the name field returns the view to have no sorting.
- Importing and exporting connection groups - You can group gateway
connections by adding links from connections to connection groups.
You can then import or export these gateway connection groups.
- Extended support for Gateway daemon properties - The Gateway daemon
average response time with I/O, and TCP and SSL bind address statistics
are now visible in the Gateways view when available.
- Improved connection testing - When communicating with CICS TG
V8.1 the value in the TCP bind address is used to attempt the connection,
providing an easier way of testing the connection to a Gateway daemon
or CICS server.

Updating an existing version of CICS TG plug-in
If you
already have the CICS TG plug-in
installed you can use the CICS
Explorer Software Updates function to update the code to the
latest level, without having to reinstall the product. Before updating
the CICS TG plug-in, you must
update the CICS Explorer to
the latest level. If you do not, CICS TG
plug-in might not work with the old version of CICS Explorer.
Updating instructions
are in the task Checking for and installing software updates in
the CICS Explorer help
documentation. To access the task from the main CICS Explorer menu:
If
you accepted the license, the CICS TG
plug-in is installed into the CICS
Explorer. You are prompted to restart the CICS Explorer. This ensures that the CICS TG plug-in starts in a clean
environment.
It is recommended that you reset the CICS TG plug-in perspective: Window
> Reset Perspective and Click OK.

Installing the CICS TG plug-in
To
install the CICS TG plug-in
perform the following steps:
- Download the CICS TG plug-in.
Do not unpack the file.
- On the CICS Explorer menu bar click Help > Install
new Software.
- Click Add to add a new repository, then
click Archive.
- Locate and select the tools plug-in previously downloaded and
click Open. Click OK.
When
you click OK the plug-in name is displayed.
- Select the plug-in and click Next.
- Continue as prompted. You will see a dialog during installation
warning you that you are installing software that contains unsigned
content. Click OK in this dialog to continue
with the installation.
If you see the message
"Duplicate location" during
step 4, that can mean one of two things:
- If this is the first time you have attempted to install this plug-in
in CICS Explorer 1.1.0.0, the message suggests that you did not install
CICS Explorer in an empty directory, and some residual information
remains from a previous installation. If this is the case, you should
re-install CICS Explorer in a clean directory.
- You have previously installed, or prepared to install, the plug-in
at this location, and CICS Explorer has saved the location details.
If this is the case, cancel the Add Repository dialog. In the Available
Software view, click the Work with twistie and select the location
containing the plug-in you want to install, then continue with the
next step.
