Configuring a system connection

Before you can view any information, you must establish a connection between the CICS® TG plug-in and your Gateway daemon by providing details of the Gateway location, and statistics port. Authentication is not supported and any values specified are ignored. You can create multiple connections. Each connection must have a unique name.

What to do next

To create and save a connection:
  1. Open the Connections window using Window>Preferences and select Connections.
  2. Select your Connection Type from the menu.
  3. Enter the name you want to use for this connection set up.
  4. Enter the Host name and Port number.
  5. Click Apply.
  6. Click Connect to test the connection, you are prompted to enter your password and you have the option to save your password.

    The status bar at the bottom of the workbench displays the connection status. See Messages section in the CICS Explorer™ User Guide for more information on messages.

  7. Click OK.
  8. If you want to create and save another connection you must click New first and give the new connection a unique name in the Name: field, and work through the previous steps.

You can create multiple connections under the same Type. The connection names that you create are displayed in the CICS TG Explorer view. You can see all you connections by name in the drop-down in the Connections window.

You can also see the status of all of your connections if you click the connection status bar menu icon downward arrow in the connection status bar in lower right corner of the workbench window, as shown below.
