Copying a capture specification

You can use the CICS® event binding editor to copy an existing capture specification.

About this task

Copying an existing capture specification is much easier and faster than creating a new capture specification from scratch.

In its simplest form, you copy a capture specification within the same event specification. This involves clicking the Copy Capture Specification To button and entering a name for the new capture specification to create the new capture specification. The information sources are preserved with the new capture specification.

When you copy a capture specification to a different event specification, you can choose an event specification from a list of all the event specifications in the current event binding. The current event specification is the default. You also have a choice of whether to preserve the information sources from the source event specification. If there is at least one information source that matches, you can choose to copy it to the target event specification. When only some of the information sources match, only the matching information sources are copied. If there are no matches, the Copy matching information sources check box is grayed out.

Procedure

  1. In the Specification tab select the capture specification that you want to copy.
  2. In the Capture Point tab, click the Copy Capture Specification to button. The Start of change Copy Capture Specification End of changeCopy Capture Point dialog opens.
  3. Type the name of the new capture specification. You must use a unique name.
  4. Optional: Select the Copy matching information sources check box to include the information sources with the copy.
  5. Optional: Select the event specification to copy the capture specification to.
  6. Click OK.
