When you are connected to your CICSplex or CICS® system, you can view and edit the system resources. If you are connected to a CICS system, the resources displayed in the views are the resources in that system. If you are connected to a CICSplex, the resources displayed in the views will depend on the browse scope you have set.
When you connect to a CICSplex, the scope is, by default, set to the first CICSplex in the connection. If you open a resource view, you see all the resources in the CICSplex. You can narrow the scope by expanding the CICSplex tree in the CICSplex Explorer view and selecting a single CICS system. The resource views now show only the resources in the CICS system. You can also display all the resources in a resource group by selecting the resource group in the CICSplex Repositories view.
These instructions explain how to browse and edit resources that are defined in a CICSplex or CICS system. To edit resources that are defined in CICS bundle projects, use the resource editors following the instructions in Editing resources defined in a CICS bundle project. You do not perform actions against these resources directly, but against the bundles in which they are defined. To update resources that are defined in CICS bundle projects, you need to redeploy the bundle.
If
you open an operational resource, the attributes are displayed in
a single page in the editor view, and they are grouped together in
a similar way as they appear in CEDA or the CICSPlex® SM WUI. Attributes you can edit
are shown in normal text, while attributes that you cannot edit are
grayed out. You can hide the non-editable attributes by clicking the Show
only editable attributes icon . The hidden icons can be redisplayed
by clicking the icon again.
If you open a definitional resource, a dedicated editor for that resource is opened. The editor contains a page that displays all attributes grouped together in a similar way as they appear in CEDA or the CICSPlex SM WUI, and one or more additional pages that display only the attributes that can be edited along with additional detail to help you when updating.
If you make changes to an operational resource, the changes are applied to the actual resource as soon as you save the changes. However if you make changes to a definitional resource, the definition is updated as soon as you save the changes, but the operational resource is not changed until the definition is installed into a CICSplex or a CICS region.
