Deploying a CICS Application project

When you have created the CICS® Bundle projects and a CICS Application project and Application Binding project, you deploy the application by exporting the CICS Application project to the z/OS® UNIX file system. When you export the CICS Application project, the CICS Explorer® also exports the Application Binding project and all the CICS bundles associated with the application bundle and application binding.

Procedure

  1. Open the CICS Cloud perspective.
  2. In the Project Explorer view, right-click your Application project and click Export Application Project to z/OS UNIX File System. The Export Application dialog opens.
  3. Select the application to export. The field is pre-filled with the current selection if applicable.
  4. Select the destination platform for the export. Verify that you have a connection to the target CICSplex, using the dropdown box to select the correct connection if necessary. The files for the application will be exported to the home directory for this platform on zFS.
  5. Select the correct application binding for the application, then click Next.
  6. Select the FTP connection to use for the export. When you make a selection the connection is established, and the wizard uses the connection to check the subdirectories of the installed platform home directory.
  7. Click Finish.

Results

The application and its associated CICS bundles, and the application binding, are exported to the home directory of the installed target platform. The home directory defaults to /var/cicsts/cicsplex_name/platform_name, or is the alternative home directory name that you specified when you set up the platform. Within the home directory, the following directories hold the different project resources:

What to do next

Create an application definition, which is a CICSPlex® SM resource called APPLDEF, to deploy the application to the platform. Install the application definition to dynamically create the resources from the bundles across the region types in the platform.
