Before you can work with CICS® Configuration
Manager (CICS CM) configurations
and resources, you must connect to your CICS systems.
You can then locate resources and edit them.
The CM perspective
The CICS CM plug-in consists
of the CM perspective and views.
Configuring a CICS CM system connection
Before you can view any information, you must establish
a connection between CICS CM plug-in and
your CICS systems by providing
details about the system connection, its location, and its authentication
requirements.
Setting Configuration Manager preferences
You can use the CICS Configuration Manager Preference pages
to configure the preferences for working with Configuration Manager.
You can use the pages to configure security controls, change package
JCL, Deployment Analysis preference, and other general options.
Creating a configuration file
You use the New Configuration wizard
to create a CM configuration. In the wizard, you identify the CSD
file or the CICSPlex SM context that contains the resource definitions,
and then create the configuration. You can then use the Configuration
editor to edit the new, or an existing configuration.
Editing a configuration file
You edit a CM configuration file with the configuration
editor. You can update all the details that are associated with a
configuration, except for the configuration name.
Working with a resource
When you have established a connection between CICS CM plug-in and
your CICS system, you can view
the groups and resources defined in a configuration and make changes
to the resources using the editor.
Searching for a resource
You can search for CICS resources
defined in CICS CM in a number
of ways.
Working with migration schemes
A migration scheme defines one or more migration
paths. Each migration path refers to a pair of CICS configurations: A source CICS configuration and a target CICS configuration. The source CICS configuration identifies where you want
to migrate from; the target CICS configuration
identifies where you want to migrate to.
Working with change packages
A change package can identify a set of resource definitions
that you want to process together, or it can contain a set of commands
that you want to process together, or both.
Deployment analysis of resource definitions
Deployment analysis is the analysis of resource definitions
that CICS has installed in
active CICS regions, resource
definitions that CICS stores
in a resource definition repository (CICS System
Definition file or CICSPlex® SM
Data Repository), or comparisons from a mixture of these sources.
Searching for a group
Using the Configuration view you can search for groups
defined in CICS CM.
Defining a search
You can refine or filter a search in several ways using
the Search Definitions window.
Performing actions against a resource
You can perform actions against a CICSPlex SM or CICS resource. The actions that you can perform
depend on the resource selected.
Comparing resources
You can compare two groups, lists, or definitions, by using
the compare function. You can also compare resources that are shown
in the history view.
