You can use the change package wizard to create new change
packages directly in Explorer.
About this task
To create a new change package:
Procedure
- Right-click anywhere in the change packages view and click New
> Change Package. The Change Package dialog
opens.
- If you select Automatic change package numbering in
the Configuration Manager Preferences view, you
do not have to enter a package name. A new change package number is
automatically assigned to the change package. If automatic numbering
is not enabled, you can enter the name of the new change package.
- Optional: Enter a description and an external
reference. The external reference might, for example, be the unique
ID of a corresponding item in your enterprise's change management
system or problem tracking system. The CM server passes this reference
as a parameter in the communication area (COMMAREA), to user exit
programs.
- Click Finish
Results
The change package is created and is shown in the
Change
Packages view. You can open the change package in the Change
Package viewer, or use the
Package Commands view
to add or remove commands.
