Stochastic Solutions Installation

For Windows

Click on the download for the IBM Windows Stochastic Solutions Try-and-Buy at the bottom of this page to download a self-extracting executable. Once this is downloaded, simply run the oslstoch.exe. It will prompt you for the location to unpack the files. Then run the resulting setup.exe to install the product. Please follow the prompting instructions from there.

Installation of this program will take about 6 meg.

PLEASE NOTE:

After running InstallShield to install your Windows product, you should initiate execution in one of the following ways:

From the Start bar:

Start-->Programs-->IBM Optimization Solutions-->IBM Stochastic Solutions
This will give you a DOS prompt, from which you can execute Stochastic Solutions.

From Windows Explorer:

in the [path]\oslstoch

directory, where [path] is either c:\ibmosl (the default), or the drive and directory you installed to, execute the oslstoch95dos.pif (Win 95) or oslstochntdos.lnk (Win NT) file. This will give you a DOS prompt, from which you can execute Stochastic Solutions.

From any DOS window:

From the DOS prompt, you can execute Stochastic Solutions. Please refer to the User's Guide for instructions on running the Optimization Solutions products, including parameters available for controlling execution, describing input and output, and setting up options files for repetitive execution.

To execute Stochastic Solutions, do the following (for example):

oslstslv -input=[path]\mpsdata\KandW3

NOTE: Users of Windows 95 must reboot their system before using the product. You may also need to provide more environment space. If you get a message "Out of Environment Space" you will need to add a line like the following to your config.sys file:

SHELL=c:\command.com c:\ /P /E:2040

The /E:2040 specifies the amount of storage to reserve for environmental variables.
