This README file contains information about installing the fix for !DB/EXPLAIN APAR PQ97802. The fix for APAR PQ97802 has been tested and validated at PSP level 0440-1 on version 510 of !DB/EXPLAIN. This fix will be included at the next PSP. To obtain the latest PSP maintenance please visit https://www14.software.ibm.com/webapp/iwm/web/preLogin.do?source=omegamon APAR PQ97802 reports that the !DB/EXPLAIN CALC function returns incorrect values for tablespace statistics when table statistics are changed. For example, tablespace statistic NACTIVE was not properly adjusted based on how NPAGES were changed for a table in the tablespace. This fix is dependent on RUNSTATS having been collected. If statistics contain a value or -1 indicating that RUNSTATS have not been collected the results may be unpredictable. 1.1 Evaluation code This is not evaluation code. Please contact your IBM account representative to set up an evaluation of !DB/EXPLAIN. This code does not deliver the full product. This code delivers a fix for a specific APAR against !DB/EXPLAIN. 2.0 PREREQUISITES !DB/EXPLAIN has hardware and software requirements. 2.1 Hardware requirements Application of this APAR can be performed on any hardware system upon which !DB/EXPLAIN can run. -Approximately 1 cylinder of free disk space is needed to implement this APAR fix. 2.2 Software requirements To apply this fix you must - Be running IBM DB2 !DB/EXPLAIN at version 510 PSP0440-1 - Have Security System authority to update the product loadlib This will fix will apply against PSP0440-1. A) Create a new folder on the PC in which to save the file B) Detach ZIP file from e-mail to the new folder or download file from server to new folder C) Unzip the file 2. Allocate receiving dataset on host - hilev.PQ97802.CNTL Allocate a dataset on the host with the following attributes Organization . . . : PO Record format . . . : FB Record length . . . : 80 Block size . . . . : 8880 Space TRKS 2,1,5 3. Transfer file to host Transfer member PQ97802 in ASCII mode. 4. Allocate backup loadlib - hilev.PQ97802.BKUPLOAD Allocate a PDS to backup the load modules ivolved in this APAR Organization . . . : PO Record format . . . : U Record length . . . : 0 Block size . . . . : 6144 Space CYLS 2,1,5 5. Back-up load modules Copy load module KTEDWHIF from the product load library to hilev.PQ97802.BKUPLOAD 6. Apply fix Edit hilev.PQ97802.CNTL(PQ97802) A) Add jobcard B) Point SYSLIB DD at product loadlib D) Submit E) Confirm that job completes condition code 0 7. Confirm fix results On Panel KTEPSTMT use SEL E to Explain and gather statistics for one of the statements. Review the explain results on panel KTEPEXPL and PF3 upon completing the review. This will return to panel KTEPSTMT where the explained statement will be partially displayed. Enter W (WHATIF) SEL code next to statement On Panel KTEPWHIF enter the command CALC on the command line and change any of the statistic values available such as NACTIVE, NPAGES, CARD, PCTROWCOMP and press enter. The changed value could result in other values changing, for example if CARD is increased enough, NPAGES and NACTIVE should increase an appropriate amount. 4.0 CUSTOMIZATION INSTRUCTIONS The following sections describe changes to customization or installation that may have occurred after the documentation was published.
