IBM DB2 Test Database Generator Version 2 Release 1, Interim Fix 2, Install Instructions 1.0 Prerequisites 2.0 Problem Description 3.0 Installation Instructions 4.0 Back out Instructions ___________________________________________________________________ 1.0 Prerequisites See the DB2 Test Database Generator User's Guide for the prerequisites for installing DB2 Test Database Generator. Interim Fix 2 has one additional prerequisite: DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1 or V 2.1 Interim Fix 1 must be installed. 2.0 Problem Description Interim Fix 2 solves the following problems: - APAR PQ90215 - UserID and Password info can no longer be viewed using the UNIX ps -ef command. Interim Fix 2 is cumulative and also solves the problems that were solved in Interim Fix 1: - Duplicate usage of shortcut keys has been resolved, and missing shortcut keys have been added in the DB2 Test Database Generator Java client. - The progress bar on the Generate page now stops when the generation is complete. - The correct DB2 Grouper component Sets, Versions, Groups, and Tables are now being displayed. - Data Profiles containing large amounts of data are now saved properly. - Extra quotation marks are no longer added to DB2 Test Database Generator output. - You can now specify integer values in Decimal fields. - Location statements are only added to the Data Profile when they are necessary to generate output. - DB2 Test Database Generator now validates column names to ensure that column names are not blank. - The output files that are created when generating test data using the DB2 Test Database Generator Java client are now sorted in alphabetical order. - The online help and the messages have been updated. - In the DB2 Test Database Generator Java Client, the List and Save As buttons have been removed from the Download window. - In the DB2 Test Database Generator Java Client, the names of the windows that display error messages have been updated to more accurately reflect the message contents. 3.0 Installation Instructions Interim fix 2 does not require interim fix 1 in order to be installed. If you are installing DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1 Interim Fix 2 on a machine where DB2 Test Database Generator has never been installed, consult the DB2 Test Database Generator User's Guide for installation instructions. To upgrade an existing installation to DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1 Interim Fix 2: 1. Archive the installation media that you used to install DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1. 2. Navigate to the directory on the DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1 Interim Fix 2 distribution media that corresponds to the platform on which you want to install the DB2 Test Database Generator server. 3. Run the install file that corresponds to your platform. AIX: TDBG_2.1_srv_aix.bin Solaris: TDBG_2.1_srv_solaris.bin Windows: TDBG_2.1_srv_win32.exe This install file will install the Administrator component of the DB2 Test Database Generator server. 4. Follow the instructions on the Install Shield windows. 5. When you have specified all of the requested information on the install shield panels, click Finish. The Install Shield installer closes. 6. Update the DB2 Test Database Generator server on the local database or databases where - If you are working on Windows, select Start --> Programs --> IBM DB2 Test Database Generator --> Server Administrator. - If you are working on UNIX, log on as the DB2 instance owner for the database where you are installing the DB2 Test Database Generator server and run: /griServerAdmin.sh Where is the location where the DB2 Test Database Generator is installed. The default serverPath is: /opt/IBM/DB2TOOLS/TestDatabaseGenerator An Install Shield installer is launched. Select update for each local database on which you want to update the DB2 Test Database Generator server. 7. Optional: install the DB2 Grouper component. 8. Install the Java Client. To install the Java Client: 1. On the DB2 Test Database Generator distribution media, locate: TDBG_2.1_cli_win32.exe 2. Run TDBG_2.1_cli_win32.exe. 3. Follow the instructions on the Install Shield windows. Note: During installation, you specify where (in which directory) you want Information: When installing on Windows, the Java Virtual Machine 1.3.1 is installed as part of the DB2 Test Database Generator Windows client installation. This Java Virtual Machine is a shared DB2 Tools component and is used by the DB2 Test Database Generator client. 4.0 Back out Instructions To return to using DB2 Test Database Generator V2.1 (without Interim Fix 2 installed): 1. Uninstall The DB2 Test Database Generator Server To uninstall the DB2 Test Database Generator Multiplatform server on Windows: a. From the Windows Start menu, select: Programs --> IBM DB2 Test Database Generator --> Server --> Server Administrator. The DB2 Test Database Generator Server Administrator window opens. b. Select the Uninstall from selected database(s) radio button. c. From the Select database(s) list, select all of the databases where the DB2 Test Database Generator server is installed. d. In the UserID and Password fields, type the userID and password to use to connect to the databases that you selected from the Select database(s) list. e. Check the Silent mode check box if you want to use the same userID and password for all of the databases that you selected from the Select database(s) list. If you do not check this check box you will be prompted for a userID and password for each database during the uninstallation process. f. Press Next. g. When the uninstaller finishes, from the Windows Start menu, select: Programs --> IBM DB2 Test Database Generator --> Server --> Uninstall to uninstall the DB2 Test Database Generator server administrator. h. Follow the instructions on the Install shield uninstall panels. To uninstall the DB2 Test Database Generator Multiplatform server on UNIX: a. Navigate to the directory where you installed the DB2 test Database Generator server. b. Run griServerAdmin.sh The DB2 Test Database Generator Server Administrator window opens. c. Select the Uninstall from selected database(s) radio button. d. From the Select database(s) list, select all of the database where the DB2 Test Database Generator server is installed. e. In the UserID and Password fields, type the userID and password to use to connect to the databases that you selected from the Select database(s) list. f. Check the Silent mode check box if you want to use the same userID and password for all of the databases that you selected from the Select database(s) list. If you do not check this check box you will be prompted for a userID and password for each database during the uninstallation process. g. Press Next. h. When the uninstaller finishes, run uninstaller.bin to uninstall the DB2 Test Database Generator server administrator. i. Follow the instructions on the Install shield uninstall panels. 3. Uninstall The DB2 Test Database Generator Java Client. a. From the Windows Start menu, select: Programs --> IBM DB2 Test Database Generator --> Client --> Uninstall. b. Follow the instructions on the Install shield uninstall panels. 4. Install DB2 Test Database Generator from the distribution media that you archived in Step 1 in Section 3.0 of this document.
