This README file contains information about getting started with IBM DB2 Optimization Expert for z/OS. 1.1 CORRECTED KNOWN PROBLEMS 1. In Visual Plan Hint, add Vector Markup Language (VML) support. 2. Code update for profile table DDL changing. Please refer to PK49832 for the detailed information. 3. Not to generate candidate indexes who have the same prefix keys with existing indexes on local equal columns. 2.0 PREREQUISITES 2.1 HARDWARE REQUIREMENTS Ensure that your workstation meets the following hardware requirements: * 500 MB of space on your hard disk drive * 1 GB of memory * A Pentium IV processor equivalent or above Recommendation: For optimal performance, use faster processors with more memory. 2.2 SOFTWARE REQUIREMENTS Ensure that you have the following software installed on your workstation: * IBM DB2 Optimization Expert for z/OS Version 1.1 (see additional requirements to install DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 Fixpack 3) * One of the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: - Windows 2000 - Windows XP - Windows 2003 - Windows Vista (see additional requirements for using DB2 Optimization Expert on Windows Vista workstations) * DB2 Connect- Application Server, Enterprise, Personal, or Unlimited Edition at the Version 9.1 Fixpack 1, 8.2 Fixpack 6, or 8.1 Fixpack 13 level, or later or equivalent software that can create an IP network connection to a DB2 Version 9.1 for z/OS subsystem * For silent installation, Java SDK or JRE 1.5 or later on each target workstation. 2.2.1 Additional requirements to install DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 Fixpack 3: * Install DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 Fixpack 3 into the same directory with DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1. 2.2.2 Additional requirements for using DB2 Optimization Expert on Windows Vista workstations: * DB2 Connect- - Application Server, Enterprise, Personal, or Unlimited Edition at the Version 9.1 Fixpack 2 level, or later. * Install DB2 Optimization Expert in a directory that is not part of the "Program Files" directory. User-level accounts cannot write files in the Windows Vista "Program Files" directory. Because of user account control restrictions, silent installation cannot be used for Windows Vista workstations. * Add the logon user to the "DB2ADMNS" group to give them the required access to execute DB2 Version 9 programs and applications. You must do this, even if the user is a member of the local administrators group to provide read access to DB2 configuration and application data. 2.2.3 Requirements for workstations that use the JDBC type 2 driver * If your workstation uses the JDBC type 2 driver, an update to the Java package used by DB2 Optimization Expert is required because of the change to the dates of Daylight Savings Time (DST) in the U.S. and Canada in March 2007. The update utility is available at: "http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/java/jdk/dst/index.html" For more information about the how the change to Daylight Savings Time might effect DB2 products, see: "http://www-1.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?rs=71&context=SSEPGG&dc=D600 &uid=swg21248542&loc=en_US&cs=utf-8&lang=en" To apply the patch to the DB2 Optimization Expert Java package: 1. Download the Java update utility and extract it to a temporary directory. 2. Create a file in the temporary directory named SDKList.txt 3. Edit SDKlist.txt and add the followng content (assuming that DB2 Optimization Expert is installed in the default directory): C:\Program Files\IBM\OE\_jvm\JRE 4. Locate and edit the file runjzuenv.bat in the temporary directory: rem set JAVA_HOME to the a Java installation directory set JAVA_HOME=C:\Program Files\OE\_jvm\jre rem set NOGUI set NOGUI=true rem set DISCOVERONLY set DISCOVERONLY=false 5. Run runjtzu.bat to apply patch. 2.2.4 Requirements for migrating from IBM Optimization Service Center for DB2 for z/OS * Install DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 into a different directory than IBM Optimization Service Center for DB2 for z/OS * Install DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 Fixpack 3 into the same directory as DB2 Optimization Expert Version 1.1 * Copy the "workspace" directory in Optimization Service Center installation diretory and overwrite the "workspace" directory in the directory that contains DB2 Optimization Expert. 3.0 FEATURE CONTENTS This software distribution includes 6 files: * media.inf - a file that you can use to create an Optimization Expert installation CD * readme.txt - describes the files in the distribution * response.txt - stores silent install instructions and the default settings * setup.exe - a native install file that supports interactive installation * setup.jar - a Java archive file that supports silent installation * silent.bat - a batch file to use the response file for silent installation 4.0 GETTING STARTED For more information about how to get started with DB2 Optimization Expert, including installation instructions, see the Getting Started guide in the Information Management Software for z/OS Solutions Information Center: "http://publib.boulder.ibm.com/infocenter/dzichelp/v2r2/topic/ com.ibm.db2tools.oe.doc.ug/osctgstrt.htm" 5.0 NOTICES This information was developed for products and services offered in the U.S.A.
