This README file contains information about IBM DB2 High Performance Unload. In this README file, the following naming convention applies: IBM DB2 High Performance Unload for Multiplatforms and IBM DB2 High Performance Unload for Workgroups are abbreviated to DB2 High Performance Unload. IBM DB2 High Performance Unload has been tested and validated with all supported releases of DB2 Universal Database(TM) through Version 8.2 Subsequent releases might require additional maintenance. 1.1 Evaluation Code If you are using evaluation code, the evaluation code enables you to try this product for a period of 60 days. After 60 days, you must purchase a license to continue to use the product. When you purchase the product, the license is enforced based upon the platform on which you are running IBM DB2 High Performance Unload for Multiplatforms. Read NOTICES Section 8.1, Use of Evaluation Code and the License Agreement provided with your evaluation copy of the program. 2.0 CORRECTED KNOWN PROBLEMS This Fix Pack contains corrections for the following problems: APAR PK00363: Unable to handle column names that are DB2 keywords, which results in error message INZU070E. APAR PK01448: Unable to load the compression library when unloading from a compressed backup on HP-UX resulting in INZU447E. APAR PK02852: Unable to unload data stored in TSM coming from a remote node resulting in INZU471E. APAR PK04564: HPU cannot run on HP-UX when using DB2 V8 Fix Pack 7a and later resulting in error message INZU306E. APAR PK04992: a) Netnames in db2nodes.cfg not used for network communications. b) Using ON REMOTE HOST does not result in the partitions unloading in parallel as expected. APAR PK06144: Bad performance when unloading a lot of remote partitions with ON REMOTE HOST option in the OUTPUT clause. APAR PK07126: INZU306E message received, containing the DB2 error SQL0423N, when unloading very large tables. APAR PK07441: INZU363E message received when unloading from an instance having a lot of partitions. APAR PK07432: INZU430E message raised when unloading from backup, then unload hangs because of bad error handling. APAR PK07830: VARCHAR and VARGRAPHIC columns unload in IXF format not consistent with DB2 export. APAR PK07801: INZU331E received when unloading data from a view. APAR PK09601: INZU317E is received during an unload when determining the instance home directory on Windows platforms. APAR PK10084: Unable to determine LOB or LF pages in DMS tablespaces when there are more than one EMP page involved in the large data objects. This can cause Signal 11 or bad output data. APAR PK10381: Support unloading from tablespaces created on RAW devices on Windows platforms received INZU347E. APAR PK11710: SIGBUS signals raised on HP-UX platforms strongly reducing performance. APAR PK13315: Garbage data unloaded from DMS tables because data pages corresponding to another table are read. Other corrected known problems: - Network connections badly closed, leading to message INZU391E being logged in the system log when the table being unloaded contains LONG VARCHAR, LONG VARGRAPHIC and/or LOB data. - Unable to submit large control files through the network, resulting in INZU366I. - LOBs were always unloaded in LLS mode when using IXF format and LLS OFF was set. - Program failure when unloading complete tablespaces from backup. - INZU366I with either error code 0x10da00b or 0x11da002 is logged alone when it should be accompanied by another message that would provide additional detail. - Added support of tablespaces created on CIO file systems. - Added support of tablespaces created with the AUTOMATIC STORAGE option. - Program failure when unloading from backup a table whose structure in the backup is different from its current definition in the DB2 catalog. - Program failure when running an unload with a LOADFILE clause, and traces on. - Bad syntax support of options after a USING BACKUP DATABASE clause, when unloading fully a tablespace. - Error code 0x112a025 raised in INZU366I message because of an undetected syntax error when specifying USING BACKUP keyword without the FROM/LOAD/USE clause. 3.0 PREREQUISITES To install this fix pack, you must have DB2 High Performance Unload for Multiplatforms V2.2 or DB2 High Performance Unload for Workgroups V2.2 installed. DB2 High Performance Unload has hardware and software requirements. For complete details, please see Chapter 2 in the DB2 High Performance Unload User's Guide (SC27-1623). http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2imstools/db2tools-library.html 3.1 Hardware Requirements DB2 High Performance Unload has the same hardware requirements as the DB2 server it is supporting. Depending upon options selected, High Performance Unload will require up to 42 megabytes of disk space plus approximately an additional 30 megabytes of temporary disk space during install. 3.2 Software Requirements To use IBM DB2 High Performance Unload, you must have a supported version of DB2 installed. 4.0 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 4.1 Installation Instructions for Windows(TM) Before installing this fix pack, you must stop the HPU network service if it is installed and running on your system. To do this, go to: Start -> Control panel -> Administrative Tools -> Services. Scroll down to the entry for "HPU for DB2 for network service v2.2". If this entry exists and its status is "Started", then right-click on it and click Stop in the popup menu. DB2 High Performance Unload for Windows uses a GUI installation tool. To install High Performance Unload for Windows, complete the following tasks: 1. Log into the Windows system where this Fix Pack is to be installed using the built-in administrator ID. 2. Launch the High Performance Unload Fix Pack installer by running the setup.exe program. 3. Follow the instructions in the panels. 4.2 Installation Instructions for Non-Windows Systems DB2 High Performance Unload uses a GUI installation tool in an X windows environment. There are several other ways you can install the product if your server does not have a directly attached, high-function terminal (HFT) capable of displaying X Windows screens: - Use a remote terminal or system by telneting into the server and setting the DISPLAY environment variable on the server to use the remote terminal's display. - Install in console mode. Exceptions or changes to the install tasks if you are using console mode are noted within the following directions. - Create a response file and do a silent install. For instructions on how to create a respoinse file, refer to the DB2 High Performance Unload User's Guide, available at the following Web location: http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2imstools/library.html To install the High Performance Unload Fix Pack, complete the following tasks: 1. Log into the system where High Performance Unload is to be installed as a user with root authority. 2. Verify and change if necessary the umask to 022. umask displays current umask setting umask 022 sets umask for current session 3. Verify that X applications can use the desired display. This step is not required if you are using console mode or a response file. echo $DISPLAY shows the current DISPLAY variable setting export DISPLAY=hostname:0 set DISPLAY if incorrect. Hostname is the name of the system whose screen is to be used. xclock& verifies that X applications can display correctly. You can close the clock display after it appears. 4. Launch the High Performance Unload Fix Pack installer by running the setup program: AIX -> ./setupaix HP-UX -> ./setuphpux Linux -> ./setuplinux Solaris -> ./setupsun If you are using Console Mode, add the following parameter: ./setupXXX -is:javaconsole -console Where XXX equals the platform. At the terminal where you entered this command, you should see a series of dots showing that the installation program is initializing and running. Eventually, the first installation panel should appear, or if in console mode, the first prompt. 5. Follow the instructions in the panels or prompts. 6. After the installation completes, you must sign off from your login session and log in again. 5.0 CUSTOMIZATION INSTRUCTIONS For complete instructions on how to customize and use DB2 High Performance Unload, refer to IBM DB2 High Performance Unload for Multiplatforms User's Guide.
