To install DB2 High Performance Unload (HPU) for Windows, complete the following tasks: 1. Log in to the Windows system where HPU is to be installed using the built-in administrator id. 2. Copy or move the HPU zip file (db2hpu212-win.zip) into some directory which has at least 70 megabytes of freespace. 3. Unzip the file. It will create a directory structure under the current directory which starts with the subdirectory name 'default'. 4. Open a command window and change into the subdirectory containing the setup.exe file. cd default\disk1 5. Launch the HPU install by running the setup.exe program. 6. Follow the instructions in the panels. We recommend 'typical' install. If you wish to do a 'custom' install, choose one or more of the following options: DB2 HPU Base : Required. The base HPU functionality. DB2 Network Support : The HPU daemon, required for communication between partitions in a DB2 EEE environment, and with the DB2 Control Center plugin. DB2 Control Center plugin : Provides GUI support through the DB2 Control Center. If you choose this option, be sure to also choose the DB2 Network Support option. 7. Open a DOS window and change to the HPU configuration directory. cd %TOPHPU%\cfg 8. Edit the db2hpu.cfg file and correct the insthomes entry. It will currently have the DB2 main installation directory that you entered (typically c:\Program Files). This needs to be changed to the DB2 instance's drive (typically c:\). So if you took all the defaults when you installed DB2 and created the instance, the before and after for the insthomes line in the db2hpu.cfg would look like : before: insthomes=DB2;c:\Program Files after: insthomes=DB2;c:\ Make the change to match your particular DB2 settings and save the db2hpu.cfg file 9. You can either reboot windows or issue the db2hpu -configuration command to force HPU to reread the configuration information into memory. If you wish to use the command instead of rebooting, remember you must also specify a valid table (-t option) and optionally database (-d option) to unload as well as the -c (configuration option). For example : db2hpu -c -t employee Will refresh the in memory configuration settings and unload the employee table from the SAMPLE database (assumes you named SAMPLE as the default database for HPU). 10. Check for Service updates. See section 6.0 Service Updates. 11. Configure DB2 High Performance Unload for Windows.
