This README file contains information about installing DB2 Grouper Fix Pack 1. IBM DB2 Grouper server has been tested and validated with AIX (R) 5.2, Solaris 8 and 9, and the most recently available releases of Windows XP and Windows(R) 2000 operating systems. Subsequent releases might require additional maintenance. The IBM DB2 Grouper client has been tested and validated against the most recently available releases of Windows 2000 and Windows XP. Subsequent releases might require additional maintenance. 1.1 Evaluation code Installation of this fix pack will not affect the remaining evaluation period if you are using evaluation code. If you are using evaluation code, the evaluation code enables you to try this product for a period of 60 days. After 60-days, you must purchase a license to continue to use the product. When you purchase the product, the license is enforced based upon the platform on which you are running IBM DB2 Grouper server. If you do not purchase the product, The DB2 Grouper client will continue to run, but the server will not. Read NOTICES Section 7.1, Use of Evaluation Code and the License Agreement provided with your evaluation copy of the program. 1.2 Corrected Known Problems This fix pack contains the following corrections: - APAR PQ89006, APAR PQ90186: - Changes to ISMP install to provide better feedback for error conditions - Metadata definitions are now compatible with z/OS 1.3 Other changes Grouper can now be invoked from the DB2 Control Center toolbar. 2.0 PREREQUISITES DB2 Grouper has hardware and software requirements. 2.1 Hardware requirements for DB2 Grouper server DB2 Grouper server has the following hardware requirements: -Memory and disk space sufficient to fulfill DB2 minimum requirements. -Approximately 40 MB of free disk space on any supported platform. 2.2 Software requirements for DB2 Grouper server Fix Pack 1 You must have IBM DB2 V7 Fix Pack 4 or later or IBM DB2 V8 Fix Pack 4a or later. You must have previously installed DB2 Grouper server. If you are running Unit of Work Discovery on a 64-bit DB2 instance, you need to make sure that a 32-bit Java JRE is first in the path. Note that neither DB2 Data Archive Expert nor DB2 Test Database Generator require use of Unit of Work Discovery. 2.3 Hardware requirements for DB2 Grouper client DB2 Grouper client has the following hardware requirements: -Memory and disk space sufficient to fulfill DB2 Connect minimum requirements. -Approximately 40 MB of free disk space on any supported platform. 2.4 Software requirements for DB2 Grouper client Fix Pack 1 2.4.1 IBM DB2 or DB2 Connect V7 client You must have IBM DB2 or IBM DB2 Connect V7 Fix Pack 4 or later. If you want to connect to a DB2 server which is running on IBM DB2 V8, you must have Fix Pack 9 or later on the client. 2.4.2 IBM DB2 or DB2 Connect V8 client You must have IBM DB2 or IBM DB2 Connect V8 Fix Pack 4a or later. 2.4.3 IBM DB2 Grouper server You must have previously installed IBM DB2 Grouper server 3.0 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 3.1 IBM DB2 Grouper server Fix Pack 1 To install DB2 Grouper server Fix Pack 1, execute the setup.exe (for Windows), setupaix (for AIX) or setupsun (for Solaris) for the server install. The installation program will detect if the Grouper GA version is installed or not. Since this fix pack requires that the GA version be installed, a message will be issued and the install program will exit if Grouper is not detected. If Grouper is found, Fix Pack 1 installs in the directory that contains your current DB2 Grouper files. Additional instructions are in the Grouper User's Guide. For the latest service updates, refer to section 6.0. In addition, it will be necessary to migrate the Grouper views used by other tools. For AIX and Solaris servers, the migration step requires use of 'chmod' in the path: /usr/bin/. Additional details are in the Grouper User's Guide in the section "Migrating the Grouper Views". 3.2 IBM DB2 Grouper client Fix Pack 1 To install DB2 Grouper client Fix Pack 1, execute the setup.exe for the client install. The installation program will detect if the Grouper GA version is installed or not. Since this fix pack requires that the GA version be installed, a message will be issued and the install program will exit if Grouper is not detected. If Grouper is found, Fix Pack 1 installs in the directory that contains your current DB2 Grouper files. Additional instructions are in the Grouper User's Guide.
