Interim Fixes If you are installing an Interim Fix, you must have IBM Debugger for z/TPF V1.0.0 installed. Interim Fixes are cumulative in nature, however, an Eclipse update error will prevent the installation of Interim Fix V1.0.0.2 on IBM Debugger for z/TPF V1.0.0, unless Interim Fix V1.0.0.1 is installed first. You must apply Interim Fix V1.0.0.2 to the IBM Debugger for z/TPF V1.0.0 only after installing Interim Fix V1.0.0.1. 2.0 INSTALLING IBM Debugger for z/TPF ________________________________________ IBM Debugger for z/TPF V1.0.0 Client Install: The package is shipped in zip file format. Unzip the image into the directory of your choice. If you unzip to C:\, the product will be in C:\idebug. IBM Debugger for z/TPF V1.0.0 Linux for zSeries Install: To enable the Remote System Explorer (RSE) option, you must do the following: 1) FTP the C:\idebug\host\dstore.linux.tar tarball (tar file) as binary to your Linux host. 2) At a command prompt, type tar -xf dstore.linux.tar to untar the dstore.linux.tar tarball on the Linux host. A directory called dstore is created containing the files that are required to start the RSE host server. Note: Place one copy of the dstore directory on Linux in a public location that all users can access through the PATH environment variable. Enable the read and execute permissions for all files contained in this directory (and the directory itself) to allow all users to access these files. 3) Configure the server.linux file (located in the dstore directory) and update the PATH variable to point to the location of the Java 1.4 runtime directory. Installing Interim Fixes Interim Fixes are installed through the Update Manager capability included in this product. To apply an Interim Fix, complete the following steps: 1. Select Help > Software Updates > Find and Install. 2. In the Feature Updates page, click the Search for updates of the currently installed features radio button. 3. Click Finish to contact the web sites associated with the product's features and discover what versions of those features are available. The potential upgrades are displayed in the Search Results page. 4. Select the feature versions that you want to upgrade, and then click Next. 5. Carefully review the license agreements for the upgraded features. If the terms of all of these licenses are acceptable, select the I accept the terms in the license agreements check box, and then click Next. Do not proceed to download the features if the license terms are not acceptable. 6. In the Optional Features page, click Next. 7. In the Installation page, click Finish. 8. Once all of the features and plug-ins have been downloaded successfully and their files installed into the product on the local computer, a new configuration that incorporates these features and plug-ins is formulated. When asked to restart, click Yes, and then exit the Workbench for the changes to take effect. 3.0 CUSTOMIZING IBM DEBUGGER FOR z/TPF _________________________________________ See the product documentation for more information about customization. 4.0 RUNNING IBM DEBUGGER FOR z/TPF _____________________________________ To run the debugger, execute \idebug\idebug.exe from the location that you unzipped the debugger. For more information about how to register a debug session with a z/TPF system, select TPF Debugger-->Registering a program for debugging in the online documentation. 5.0 LIMITATIONS __________________ General limitations: -------------------- - When applying an Interim Fix through a Windows client, after clicking 'Finish' in the final Installation page, there may be a delay before the progress message appears (indicating the features that are being installed). During this delay, the Install dialog box will close and the workbench will be in the foreground. - On Windows, after reverting the configuration back to the IBM Debugger for z/TPF Version 1.0.0 from either the IBM Debugger for z/TPF Version 1.0.0.1 or the IBM Debugger for z/TPF Version 1.0.0.2, you may see a warning symbol associated with the resulting configuration. If you open the Properties dialog box for that configuration, the status will contain this message: Plug-in: "system.bundle" version: "3.1.0" referenced by this feature is not included at runtime. Runtime includes plug-in version "3.1.2". This message can be ignored and you can safely proceed to use the workbench with the reverted configuration. - When applying an Interim Fix through a Windows client, there is an uncaught SWT exception written to the log file when you replace the current configuration with another one. This exception can be ignored and you can safely proceed to use the workbench with the replaced configuration. National language limitations: ------------------------------ - User interface text that is added to the product as the result of an Interim Fix is English-only. - Bidirectional (BIDI/BiDi) language limitations: - The Debugger editor, Variables view, Monitors view, and Memory view may display words composed of BIDI characters and numerals incorrectly. The position of the numerals and BIDI characters in the word may be incorrect. - The Arabic Lam Aleph (or Lam Alef) characters do not display correctly in the EBCDIC rendering in the Memory view when using CP420. CP420S can be used instead. - Editing a string variable so that it contains Arabic characters with 'tails' may not set the value correctly if the 'tail' character does not have an adjacent space. The 'tail' character may be lost. - Hindi numerals cannot be entered into edit fields in the Variables, Monitors, and Memory views. 6.0 NOTICES ______________ IBM may not offer the products, services, or features discussed in this information in other countries.
