Customer services can be viewed as a catalog of the product and service components. This catalog also provides permissible mixes of features and options for certain customer groups. These services are in turn built from a portfolio of underlying resource components (such as DSL Synch Rate). The objective of this application is to allow marketing of a large number of products and services from a smaller number of reusable components. The complexities of enabling and configuring the entities are handled by a sophisticated constraint-based configuration application.
From the scope and operational perspective of SimpleOrder, the product catalog is configured to support the commercial aspects of products. It can model products and services sold in the market including the product hierarchy, offer and product bundling, list price, and different charges.
