IBM DB2 Performance Expert Version 2 Release 2, GA, Interim Fix 3, Install Instructions 1.0 Prerequisites 2.0 Problem Description 3.0 Installation Instructions 4.0 Back out Instructions ___________________________________________________________________ 1.0 Prerequisites DB2 Performance Expert V2.2 GA is required in order to use Interim Fix 3. 2.0 Problem Description Interim Fix 3 solves the following problem: DB2PE server's Java virtual machine crashes and writes dumps because of OutOfMemoryException. This can happen in complex environments with many tables/tablespaces while processing periodic exceptions. 3.0 Installation Instructions 1. Unzip the file db2pe2203_all.zip using WINZIP or any unzip utility of your choice. Contents: 'fpesrv.jar', this is common for all platforms 2. Go to the bin directory of your Performance Expert Server installation and save the existing 'fpesrv.jar' file to a new name as backup. Note, that you must do it as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3. As DB2 instance owner stop Performance Expert Server and the DB2 instance in that Performance Expert Server runs. 4. Copy the extracted file 'fpesrv.jar' into the bin directory of your Performance Expert Server installation. Note, that you must do it as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 5. On UNIX and Linux platforms change the permissions of file 'fpesrv.jar' to 755 and the owner to root and group to system. Note, that you must do it as root 6. As DB2 instance owner restart the DB2 instance of Performance Expert Server 7. As DB2 instance owner restart Performance Expert Server. 4.0 Back out Instructions As long as the server has not been restarted (and therefore migrated the DB2PE databases), you can rename your saved backup version of 'fpesrv.jar'. Otherwise you must additionally delete the DB2PE databases by command: peconfig -deinstall and recreate them by peconfig. Then you can start the server.
