IBM DB2 Performance Expert Version 2 Release 2, Fix Pack 1, Interim Fix 9 Install Instructions 1.0 Prerequisites 2.0 Problem Description 3.0 Installation Instructions ___________________________________________________________________ 1.0 Prerequisites DB2 Performance Expert V2.2 Fix Pack 1 is required in order to use Interim Fix 9. 2.0 Problem Description Interim Fix 9 solves the following problem: APAR PK23077 IN THE DB2 PE CLIENT THE THRESHOLD LIMIT FOR LOG SPACE IS LIMITED TO 7 POSITIONS "Log space" threshold values are limited to 7 digits in System Health. Running System Health in Performance Expert Client the "Log space" counters are incorrectly limited to 7 digits. Counters are located on the following panels of Performance Expert Client: System Health -> New Data view -> Category Tab -> Databases -> Counter Tab -> Log space available, Log space used or Max space used for logs. The counters are measured in bytes and the maximum threshold value of 9999999 is sometimes too small. This APAR changes the measurement of the "Log space" counters to Kbytes. 3.0 Installation Instructions 3.1. Close all instances of Performance Expert Client on your workstation. 3.2. Choose the file of your Performance Expert Client platform and extract the content. For UNIX and Linux: a. gzip -d db2pe22019.tar.gz b. tar -xvf db2pe22019.tar For Windows: Unzip the file db2pe22019_win.zip using WINZIP or any unzip utility of your choice. Contents: - for all platforms: 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml' 'db2pe.jar' 3.3. Go to the '\dgokdata\dgokdata_' directory of your Performance Expert Client installation and save the existing 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml' file to a new name as backup, for example 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml_bak'. Note, that you must do this step as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.4. Copy the extracted 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml' file into the '\dgokdata\dgokdata_' directory of your Performance Expert Client installation. Note, that you must do this step as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.5. On UNIX and Linux platforms change the permissions of the file to 644, the owner to root and group to system. 3.6. Go to the Performance Expert Client home directory, which is located in user home directory and then switch to 'dgokdata' directory. Depending on the operating system for example: For UNIX and Linux: /home//.db2pev2/dgokdata For Windows: C:\Documents and Settings\\.db2pev2\dgokdata Save the existing 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml' file to a new name as backup, for example 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml_bak'. Note, that you must do this step as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.7. Copy the extracted 'db2_uwo_systemhealth_dlg.xml' file into the previously mentioned directory. Note, that you must do this step as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.8. On UNIX and Linux platforms change the permissions of the file to 644, the owner to the user name which executes Performance Expert Client and group to the group name where the user belongs to. 3.9. Go to the 'bin' directory of your Performance Expert Client installation and save the existing 'db2pe.jar' file to a new name as backup. Note, that you must do it as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.10. Copy the extracted 'db2pe.jar' file into the 'bin' directory of your Performance Expert Client installation. Note, that you must do this step as root on UNIX and Linux platforms. 3.11. On UNIX and Linux platforms change the permissions of the file to 644, the owner to root and group to system, you must do this step as root. 3.12. As DB2 instance owner start Performance Expert Client.
