Check for service updates. See section 3.0. For Installation on Windows: ---------------------------- If the final stop and start of the DB2 instance was not successful reboot your machine manually. For Deinstallation on Windows: ------------------------------ After Deinstallation has finished check if DB2PM Database is dropped successfully. If this is not the case drop the database manually. For Installation on AIX: ------------------------ To install fixpack 2, you MUST NOT deinstall the already installed version of DB2 Performance Expert. Instead, install fixpack 2 in a new directory. Make sure, that the fixpack 2 installation file db2pesrv.fp2.install-on-aix is executable and invoke it. When you are asked for the installation path, choose for example /opt/IBM/db2pesrv.fp2 After installation, you MUST copy the file nodelock from /opt/IBM/db2pesrv/V1.1/bin/nodelock to /opt/IBM/db2pesrv.fp2/V1.1/bin/nodelock to be able to run fixpack 2. Before running the configuration script /opt/IBM/db2pesrv.fp2/V1.1/adm/db2pesrv-config you have to drop old versions of the database DB2PM manually: db2 drop db db2pm Up from fixpack 2 the output will be logged in /tmp/db2pesrv-config.log. Prequisites for fixpacks ------------------------ DB2 Performance Expert Server Base package of the DB2 Performance Expert Server must be installed! -For Windows: update is done automatically by installation routine; if this is not the case use the Repair option. If the base package is not installed, the message "Could not start the DB2 Performance Expert Server (DB2) service on Local Computer..." comes up. -For Unix: Copy the nodelock file from the bin direcory of the full installation into the bin directory of the fixpack installation directory as descibed above. If the base package is not installed you get a License error. 2.1 Known problems/restrictions For HP-UX there is not a running version on the CD. Some important parts are missing. A fixpack will be provided as soon as possible. See our support web page http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2imstools/support.html 2.2 Hints and Tips The DB2 instance monitored: --------------------------- IBM DB2 Performance Expert for LAN platforms (Performance Expert) monitors DB2 instances. An instance can contain several databases. On the Unix platforms, there it is possible to have more than one DB2 instance running on one hardware box. If you want to monitor all instances, you must install one Performance Expert server per instance. During server installation, you are asked to define a user group for authorization purposes. We recommend, you define a group named DB2PE and put all users (servers and clients) into that group. Define that user group before installing Performance Expert. In the client "System Overview" window, you must configure one entry per instance to be monitored. The instance name at the client, is usually different from the instance name on the server, this is because instance names on different hardware boxes can be the same, but must be unique in the client's "System Overview" definition. DB2 or DB2INST1 is often used as instance name on a server. The Client Connection definition -------------------------------- If a remote server is to be monitored, you must configure a client connection before you can define the remote instance in the Performance Expert client's "System Overview" window. The best way is to use the Client Configuration Assistant provided by DB2 (CCA). You have to provide the following information: 1. The server's DB name: DB2PM (do not change this) 2. The DB Alias name : any name of your choice, This must be unique on the client! 3. The DB2 port of the server: normally 50000 (ask the administrator) You need this only if you choose Manual Configuration in CCA. To be able to check the connection at definition time and to monitor the server from that client, you must have a valid userid on the server with the privileges of the DB2-group configured on the server at installation time. We recommend to have a group, DB2PE, defined at the server. The "Instances" definition within Performance Exp. client --------------------------------------------------------- To get monitoring access to a DB2 Instance on a server, you must define the server's instance in the Performance Expert client "System Overview" window. To do this, you have to define the instance as described. But regard the following two definitions: The name "DB2 Instance Alias" in the second page of the "New DB2 System" definition dialog is a name, invented by you for the new instance. It must be unique in your "System Overview" window. You should not confuse this name with other DB2 aliases. The entry field "Database alias" is the DB2 alias, that you've defined before, using the Client Configuration Assistant. 3.0 SERVICE UPDATES Check for fixpacks to be installed before using the product: http://www.ibm.com/software/data/db2imstools/support/fixpaks-mp.html 3.1 PROBLEMS FIXED Fixed defects (on top on fixpack 2) ------------- -
