4.2 Installation Overview

This section describes how to install IBM Developer Workbench Interim Fix 001 for Version 9.1.0.2 by using the Developer Workbench Product Updater. You should download this interim fix directly from the IBM update server. However, you can also download a ZIP file that contains this interim fix for local installations. The following sections describe how to install this interim fix.

Install the interim fix with the same user account that installed IBM Developer Workbench.

Restrictions:

To install the interim fix, complete the following steps:

  1. Start the Developer Workbench Product Updater:
    • On Windows operating systems, click Start > Programs > IBM DB2 Developer Workbench > DWB Product Updater.
    • On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 (GNOME desktop environment), open the main menu and click Programming > DWB Product Updater.
    • On SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0 (K Desktop Environment), open the main menu and click IBM DB2 Developer Workbench > DWB Product Updater.

    Note: On Red Hat Enterprise Linux 3.0 and SuSE Linux Enterprise Server 9.0, if you use a desktop environment other than the default, the product shortcuts might not appear in the default location.

  2. Click Find Updates.
  3. By default, all available updates are selected. Ensure that you select Interim Fix 001 for Developer Workbench 9.1.0.2.

    If no updates are found, reset the update site preferences. If you have modified the update site preferences; for example, to install a previous fix pack from a local version of an update site, you must reset the update site preferences to the default settings before the Product Updater can find the update. To reset the update site preferences, click Preferences > Update Sites, click Restore Default, and click OK. Then click Find Updates again to search the default IBM update server for updates.

  4. Click Install Updates.
  5. To accept the license agreement and continue the installation, click OK.

    Depending on the speed of your computer processor, the amount of RAM, and the speed of your Internet connection, the update might take an extended period of time to download and install.

    After the installation is complete, the Developer Workbench Product Updater lists the installed updates on the Installed Products page.

  6. Close the Developer Workbench Product Updater.
  7. Restart Developer Workbench with the -clean option so that the changes are picked up. For example: eclipse -clean.

4.5 Downloading the interim fix for local installations

You should install the interim fix directly from the IBM update server; however, it is also available for download. You might want to download and install the interim fix in the following situations:

To download and install the interim fix, complete the following steps:

  1. Download the interim fix from http://www3.software.ibm.com/ibmdl/pub/software/data/db2/udb/developerworkbench/91/zips/dwb_9102_if001.zip
  2. Extract the interim fix to a temporary directory, such as C:\temp.
  3. For installation instructions, navigate to the temporary directory and open install_local_910.html.
