IBM Sync menu options

After you set up IBM Sync, you can configure other IBM Sync menu options. In the upper left-hand corner of the IBM Sync dialog, click the IBM Sync menu. A drop-down menu appears with the following options:

Subscription sets

Click the Subscription Sets menu option to open the IBM Sync - Subscription Sets window. You can select which subscription sets you want to synchronize by clicking on a check box next to a subscription set. Other options in the Subscription Sets dialog include:

Save
If you reset a subscription set or change its synchronization status, you can save your changes by tapping the Save push button.

Cancel
If you reset a subscription set or change its synchronization status, you can cancel your changes by tapping the Cancel push button.

Details
When you click the Details push button, the Details dialog displays additional information about the subscription set that is selected. This option allows you to view additional information about the subscription set like the name of the subscription set and the status of its last synchronization.

You can also reset a subscription set from the Details dialog. When you click the Reset push button in the Details dialog, the subscription set that you selected is marked for a refresh. During the next synchronization, the subscription set's configuration is deleted, but the subscription set itself remains.

Reset
This option replaces your local DB2 tables on the mobile device with the current data from tables on the source server.
Note:
If you made changes to the local tables, but have not synchronized these changes with the source, these changes are lost.

Settings

If you click the Settings menu option, the Setting dialog opens. In this dialog, you can configure some of the IBM Sync settings. The settings that can be configured are:

Server IP
Tap the drop-down list and enter a Server IP address. You must enter the exact IP address of the computer where the server resides. If you enter an incorrect host name, the server that you want to connect to will not be found. After you type a new Server IP address, the address is stored in the drop down list. Each new IP address that you enter is stored in the list so you can select a different server each time you synchronize data.

Port #
Type a port number for the server. The port number is used for internal communication between the mobile device and the server.

User ID
Type a user name in the User ID field. The user name that you enter must be defined in the DB2 Everyplace Mobile Devices Administration Center. For information on creating a user in the Mobile Devices Administration Center, see the Sync Server Administration Guide.

Password
Type a password in the Password field. The password that you enter must be defined in the DB2 Everyplace Mobile Devices Administration Center. For information on creating a user in the Mobile Devices Administration Center, see the Sync Server Administration Guide.

If you click the Advanced push button in the Settings dialog, the Advanced dialog opens. In this dialog, you can configure some advanced IBM Sync settings. The settings that can be configured are:

Time-out
In this drop-down list, you can specify a time-out duration for synchronization. This duration should be set longer if the server is usually very busy or there is a large amount of data to be synchronized. If you frequently encounter time-out error messages during synchronization, contact your system administrator for proper setting of this value. The default is 1 minute.

Detailed synchronization log
Select this check box if you want your device to log detailed information during synchronization. To view the log, start IBM Sync and tap Log.

Use HotSync button to start
Select this check box to enable the HotSync button to automatically start Sync Server synchronization. The isyncl.prc library must be installed on the Palm OS device to use this feature. By default, the check box is not selected.

NetType
In this drop down list, you can specify the type of network connection. This setting specifies the network packet size in which data is synchronized with the Sync Server. The lower the type of connection, (for example, GSM), the smaller the packet size. The larger the settings (GPRS), the larger the packet size.
