Quick Start Guide

This guide gets you started installing IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 and IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.2. IBM Cognos Express no longer includes its own installation program. The IBM Cognos Express 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide will step you through installing and integrating Cognos TM1 and Cognos BI on one Microsoft Windows computer, just as was done if you ran the installation program for previous versions of Express. Licensing of Express 10.2.2 does include the ability to install TM1 and BI on separate machines, if desired.

Step 1: Access the software and documentation

You can download IBM Cognos TM1 and IBM Cognos Business Intelligence from IBM Passport Advantage® by following the instructions in the Cognos TM1 Download Document (www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24036996) and the Cognos BI Download Document (http://www.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg24037529). Documentation is available on IBM Knowledge Center (www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSMR4U_10.2.2).

Step 2: Evaluate the hardware and system configuration

Review "Chapter 2. The Cognos Express environment" in the IBM Cognos Express 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide.

Step 3: Install IBM Cognos TM1 10.2.2 (if applicable)

Follow the steps in "Chapter 3. Installing and configuring Cognos TM1" in the IBM Cognos Express 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide.

Step 4: Install IBM Cognos Business Intelligence 10.2.2 (if applicable)

Follow the steps in "Chapter 4. Installing and configuring Cognos Business Intelligence components" in the IBM Cognos Express 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide.

Step 5: Decide what you want to do next

Your next step depends on your environment:

  • If you installed both Cognos TM1 and Cognos BI on the same Windows computer, follow the steps in "Chapter 5. Configuring Cognos Business Intelligence and Cognos TM1 to work together" in the IBM Cognos Express 10.2.2 Installation and Migration Guide.
  • If you installed Cognos TM1, you can find all of the Cognos TM1 product documentation on IBM Knowledge Center (www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SS9RXT_10.2.2).
