IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Configuring IBM Enterprise Records for FIPS 140-2 mode

If you plan to be compliant with Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) 140-2, you must modify the java.security file to enable your IBM® Enterprise Records environment for FIPS 140-2 mode.

The location of the java.security file depends on your IBM JRE installation. For information, see the related link. For example, for a Windows WebSphere® Application Server installation, the default location is: C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\java\jre\lib\security.
Restriction: If you use FIPS 140-2 encryption in your environment, you must install WebSphere Application Server 7 or WebSphere Application Server 7 Client on all servers that run IBM Enterprise Records components.

To modify the java.security file:

Modify the java.security file in the IBM JRE security folder by adding the following information:
security.provider. N =com.ibm.crypto.fips.provider.IBMJCEFIPS
Where N is the relative position of the entry in the list of security providers.
