Take a form offline
You will likely get forms from a Workplace or other distribution point on your
organization's network. If this is the case, and the form policy allows it,
you can take a form policy offline. This is useful because you can fill out
forms in Desktop eForms without being connected
to the network. When you've finished with your form and have access to the network,
you can put the form back in Workplace.
- If you've saved a form to Workplace, you can't take the saved form offline.
- You can take a workflow form policy offline at the launch step but not if
it's in a workflow step (the form is in a Tasks queue).
- Before you can fill out a form offline, Desktop eForms must be installed
on your local machine.
- If the form policy you want to take offline is older than a policy that
exists on your local machine, the newer version opens and the old one is deleted.
Some of the form's features
behave differently when the form is offline than they do when you open the
form in Workplace.
To take a form policy offline
- Log in to Workplace.
- Navigate to the form policy you want to take offline.
- Right-click the form policy and select the Take
Form Offline command.
- You can open and fill out the form right away or save it to your local machine
and fill it out later. In the File Download dialog box, do one of the following:
- Click Open. Desktop eForms opens with the
form ready to be filled out.
- Click Save. Navigate to the location where
you want to save the policy and click Save.
When the save is finished, in the Download complete dialog box, click Close.
When you're ready to fill out the form,
- Start Desktop eForms.
- In the New Data Document dialog box, navigate to
your form (e.g., Local Policies> Timesheet Policy).
- Select the form and click New.
NOTE If
you need to search for an offline form, the extension is ".ofp."
Save an offline form
In Desktop eForms, offline forms are saved as drafts in a location that's determined
automatically. For instructions on saving a form draft, please see the Desktop
eForms help.
