Define security

Creating or modifying a security policy's template involves defining the security to apply with this template.

To define security for a template:

  1. In the Define Security step, select the Users and Groups to be applied by this template.
    1. Click Add New. A page opens for you to search for specific names.
    2. In the Select in drop-down menu, select the domain.
    3. Select the Users option or the Groups option to refine the list of names available for adding.
    4. Type one or more characters for the beginning of the names to search. For example, to locate users named aalberto and amoss, type a. All user names beginning with "a" are returned. You can narrow the search by entering more characters. For example, aal would return aalberto and aallen, but not alemon or amoss.
    5. Click Search. After a brief delay, the matching names are displayed.
      • If the number of matching names is greater than the default for displaying, not all matches are displayed. You will need to change the search criteria and click Search again to see more results.
      • When you are satisfied with the results, select the desired names from the list. You can use Ctrl+click or Shift+click to select more than one name in the list.
    6. Click Accept to continue setting the security for the selected names. The Set Security page opens again, with the new user or group name in the list of authorized users.
  2. Set the access rights for a specific user or group.
    1. Click the user or group name in the Title column.
    2. Select or clear the Allow and Deny check boxes as appropriate for this user or group. For more information, see Manage Security.
    3. Click Accept.
  3. If needed, remove an existing user or group. Select the Remove check box for the desired user or group.

You must define at least one user or group. You cannot remove the last entry from the list.

  4. Click Finish. The Define Templates step of the Security Policy wizard opens.
  5. If needed, define additional security templates for the security policy. For more information, see Define Templates.
  6. When all needed templates are defined, proceed to the Set Security step.
