The Select Object page provides access to folders, documents, and searches for you to complete a selection action. The actions and views available in the Select Object page depend on the action that opened the page. For example, you can select a folder or a document to assign as an attachment, but you can only select a document to publish.
You also access this page when you are working in an Office application and accessing Workplace XT. For example, completing a selection action allows you to check in a document or to create a URL link to a specified object and insert that link into your Office document.
When you set the value for a property that is an object value property, the Select Object page opens for you to define the value. An object value property uses an existing object from an object store as the property's value. Your site administrator can tell you which property names are defined as object value properties and which object stores, object types, and object classes they reference. Limitations for selecting an object for an object value property are noted in the descriptions below.
Click a Browse view to locate an object store, folder, or document. Navigate to the desired location.
Click Search view to locate specific objects.
Displays the object store and folder selected. You can click a name in the path to move up in the hierarchy.
When you have navigated to an object store or folder, you can click Get Info below the path to view the object store or folder information page. Click Get Info next to a document or object description to view the object's information page. For example, to view the object's class.
Depending on the type of object you can select, the Select command has several forms. Click the appropriate Select command as displayed.
When you have navigated to a folder, you can click Select <foldername> to select the folder if a folder is a valid selection. For example, you can select a folder to assign as an attachment to a work item.
Click Select below a object's description to select that object. Select is only displayed for objects that do not have versions to choose from, such as a custom object or a specific version of a document.
Click Select Current Version below the description of a document to select the current version of the document. Select Current® Version is only available where appropriate.
Click Select Released Version below the description of a document to select the released version of the document. A released version is a major version of the document. There can be a more recent minor version that is the current version. Select Released Version is only available where appropriate.
Click Select from Versions below the description of a document to select a specific version of the document. A list of the document versions is displayed. Click Select below the version you want to use.
These commands appear when you are performing tasks within an Office application.
Click Checkout below the description of the document to check out the latest version of the document, and then download it to your local workstation. It will open in the Office application in which the document was created. This option only appears when the document is not checked out.
Click Open below the description of the document to download a copy of the latest version of the document.
Click Open Released Version below the description of the document to download a copy of the latest major version of the document.
Click Open from Versions below the description of a document to select a specific version of the document. A list of the document versions is displayed. Click Select below the version for which you want to open a copy or click Checkout to check out the specified version.
