When you drag an item, you can add it to an object store, move it from one location to another or file it in a specific location. You can select one or more documents from a location and drag the documents to a different location.
If you are working in an integrated Microsoft Office application using Integration for Microsoft Office, you can drag emails and email attachments to a different location or use the pop-up menu to move, file or add the items to an object store. You can also drag documents from an object store to an open email. The documents are copies of the original documents and added as attachments to the email. From your Favorites folder, you cannot drag folders or subfolders and documents at the same time. From your Checkouts folder and your Recently User folder, you cannot drag your folders and documents at the same time.
When you drag one or more documents from your workstation or from your integrated Outlook to a folder, you are adding a document to an object store.
You can drag one or more emails or email attachments from your integrated Outlook to add them to a folder in an object store. The items are added using an entry template. When you are adding multiple emails or attachments to a folder that has more than one entry template associated with it, you can select the entry template you want to use.
Should you cancel the process after the files have started downloading, only those documents that were processed prior to your cancellation are added to the object store.
When you add more than one document at a time, the selected documents might belong to several file type categories. When this occurs, associated entry templates that apply to one file type category might not apply to the other categories. If Workplace XT cannot identify one or more entry templates that apply to all of the file type categories being added, you must change your selection of documents and start over.
Entry templates that launch workflows cannot be used when adding more than one document at a time. If you select an entry template that launches a workflow, an error occurs, and you must select a different entry template or add the documents one at a time.
When you select a document, folder or search and drag it from one folder to another within an object store, you are moving the item.
When you select a document or search and drag it while holding down the CTRL key to a specific folder within an object store, you are filing the document. The item is not duplicated in each folder, but instead, each folder contains a reference to the same item.
When you are in an integrated Office application or Outlook using Integration for Microsoft Office, you can also file documents using the Copy and Paste menu options.
