IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.1.+

Integration with Content Manager OnDemand

The AFP Viewer plug-in and the Java line data viewer allow users to view AFP and line data documents, respectively, from IBM Content Manager OnDemand. Note that users cannot download AFP and line data documents directly from Workplace XT. In addition, you can customize the MIME types to allow users to view various documents with different viewers.

You can configure the trace logging settings that are used by the Content Manager OnDemand Java API. Use the logging levels to analyze application activity as well as diagnose and solve problems.

Install viewers

To configure Workplace XT for Content Manager OnDemand

  1. Install the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit (ODWEK) on the Workplace XT server. The default installation folders are as follows:
    • Windows: C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand Web Enablement Kit
    • AIX®: /usr/lpp/ars/www
  2. Add the full path of the installation folder to the operating system PATH and LIBPATH (or your operating system's equivalent) environment variables. Additionally, you might need to add the folder\lib32 or lib64 folder path as well.
  3. Navigate to the applets subfolder where you installed ODWEK.
  4. Copy the following files to the download subfolder where the Workplace XT application is installed.
    • IEFix.js
    • ODAfp2Html2.jar
    • ODLineDataViewer2.jar
  5. Navigate to the api subfolder where you installed ODWEK.
  6. Copy the following file to the WEB-INF\lib subfolder where the Workplace XT application is installed.
    • ODApi.jar
  7. Use a text editor to edit the Servlet descriptor (web.xml) file in the folder where the Workplace XT application is installed. Type the following lines to the corresponding listener, servlet, and servlet-mapping sections of the file.
    CAUTION:
    You must type the text—cutting and pasting the text can cause corruption in the file.

    <listener>

    <listener-class>com.filenet.ae.cmodviewer.ViewerServlet</listener-class>

    </listener>

    <servlet>

      <servlet-name>cmodViewer</servlet-name>

      <servlet-class>com.filenet.ae.cmodviewer.ViewerServlet</servlet-class>

    <init-param>

    <param-name>Afp2PdfInstallDir</param name>

    <param-name>C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand Web Enablement Kit\afp2pdf.ini</param name>

    </init-param>

    <init-param>

    <param-name>Afp2PdfConfigFile</param name>

    <param-name>C:\Program Files\IBM\OnDemand Web Enablement Kit\afp2pdf</param name>

    </init-param>

    </servlet>

    <servlet>

       <servlet-name>cmodViewerCallback</servlet-name>

       <servlet-name>com.filenet.ae.cmodviewer.ViewerCallbackServlet</servlet-name>

    </servlet>

    <servlet-mapping>

       <servlet-name>cmodViewer</servlet-name>

       <url-pattern>/cmodViewer/*</url-pattern>

    </servlet-mapping>

    <servlet-mapping>

       <servlet-name>cmodViewerCallback</servlet-name>

       <url-pattern>/cmodViewerCallback/*</url-pattern>

    </servlet-mapping>

  8. Move the location of the cmodKeyStore file. If you do not want to lose the Content Manager OnDemand log-on ID and password when upgrading Workplace XT, or if you are configuring a Content Manager OnDemand integration on a WebLogic 11g system, you must edit the web.xml file to use the configuration location, rather than the default location:

    <context-param>

    <param-name>keyStorePathparam-name>keyStorePath>

    <param-value>install_path/FileNet/Config/WebClient/cmodKeyStore</param-style>

    </context-param>

  9. Unzip the afp2pdf.zip file. Put the contents in .....IBM\OnDemand Web Enablement Kit folder\afp2pdf Note that this zip file is included in ODWEK 8.4. With ODWEK 8.5, the file is not included and must be downloaded separately. When unzipping the files, put them in the afp2pdf folder and not a folder created by the unzip process.
  10. Redeploy the application. If you are upgrading from a previous version of Workplace XT, you must add the <init-param> text in Step 7, and you must perform Step 8.
Set Workplace XT Site preferences for Content Manager OnDemand support

Before users can view AFP and line data documents from a Content Manager OnDemand server, you must specify the name and password of the user account used to authenticate with the server in the IBM® Content Manager OnDemand site preference. You can also change the default viewer to use the PDF Viewer for PDF documents in the OnDemand respository. See General settings for IBM Content Manager OnDemand for more information.

Note: The user name and password that is defined for the IBM Content Manager OnDemand site preference is stored in a key store. The default path for the key store is located in <XT_install_path>\WorkplaceXT\WEB-INF\cmodKeyStore. You can change the key store location using the keyStorePath context parameter in the Servlet descriptor (web.xml) file.
Install AFP Viewer on a local machine

Users must install the AFP Viewer plug-in on their local machine before they can view AFP documents. The AFP Viewer plug-in installation program is called afpplgin.exe, and is located in the plugins subfolder where you installed ODWEK. For more information about installing the AFP Viewer plug-in, see Installation in the IBM Content Manager OnDemand Information Center.

Configure Content Manager OnDemand MIME type mapping (optional)

You can use the OnDemand Web Enablement Kit to map MIME types, where each MIME type corresponds to a document type that users view. Modify and add MIME types to the cmodMimeMappings.properties file. This file is located in the configuration folder that is defined when the Workplace XT application is installed.

When you add new MIME types to the cmodMimeMappings.properties file, you must restart the application server.
