A typical architecture of IBM® Enterprise Records components in a FileNet® P8 environment includes the Process Engine server, the Content Engine server, the Application Engine or Workplace XT web application server, a Crystal Reports server, a database server, a directory server, the Enterprise Manager administration client, and a browser client.
There are instances where all of the components could be placed on one server but this would like be in a demo scenario. The following graphic illustrates the most typical architecture.
In addition, some of the components or subcomponents need to be configured before they can be used.
The installation instructions explain how to install and configure all IBM Enterprise Records components on one server that also hosts Application Engine or Workplace XT. However, some IBM Enterprise Records components can be distributed across multiple servers to optimize performance and system resources.
