IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Overview for installing and configuring Crystal Reports

Verify that you have completed all prerequisites for configuring IBM® Enterprise Records Crystal Reports.

Attention: You must have the supported versions of Crystal Reports Server and designer installed. See the IBM FileNet P8 Hardware and Software Requirements for details.

To verify prerequisites for IBM Enterprise Records Crystal Reports:

  1. Verify that you have copied all relevant configuration files to the Crystal Reports server as part of Copying installation files to local server.
  2. Verify that you have copied the required Content Engine JAR files to the Crystal Reports server.
  3. Verify that you have synchronized the Content Engine JAR files on the Crystal Reports server as part of Installing the latest Content Engine and Process Engine client files on IBM Enterprise Records servers.
  4. (Crystal Reports is not collocated with Content Engine) Verify that the required JAR files from the Content Engine server exist on the Crystal Reports server.
IBM FileNet® P8 Platform supports various application servers. The machine that hosts Crystal Reports Server (CRS) 2008 V1 and Crystal Reports 2008 V1 must have the same application server, or its client files, installed as IBM FileNet Content Engine
Restriction: If the application server used with Content Engine is WebSphere® Application Server, you must install WebSphere Application Server or Application Client for WebSphere Application Server on the Crystal Reports server.
Table 1. Actions required if Crystal Reports is not collocated with Content Engine.
    Application server Action
WebSphere Application Server Install WebSphere Application Server or Application Client for WebSphere Application Server on the Crystal Reports server. The Application Client is typically included on the same install media as the WebSphere Application Server software.

For Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

    Oracle WebLogic Server

(Content Engine runs on Oracle WebLogic Server 10) If the version of Oracle WebLogic Server differs between the Content Engine machine and the Crystal Reports server machine, copy wlclient.jar from the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

For Windows: Copy the weblogic.jar file from ..\server\lib where the Oracle WebLogic Server server is installed on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

    JBoss Application Server

(Content Engine runs on JBoss Application Server 4.0.5) If the version of JBoss Application Server differs between the Content Engine machine and the Crystal Reports server machine, copy the jbossall-client.jar from the Content Engine machine to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server.

For Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server

For JBoss Application Server 5.x only (if the client does not already have JBoss 5.x installed): Copy the JBoss 5.x client/ directory from the server that is running the Content Engine software and JBoss 5.x locally to a folder on the Crystal Reports server. For example, copy the CE_JBoss5.1_HOME/client directory to the C:\CE_jars_servername\ folder on the Crystal Reports server.

  5. Verify that you have set the Report application server path in the Application Engine or Workplace XT site preferences as described in Setting site preferences in Application Engine or Workplace XT.
  6. Turn on auditing for the following reports:
    • Records Viewed by User/Group within Specific Period Report
    • Actions Performed by User Report
