Configuring IBM Enterprise
Records after
installation
After you install IBM® Enterprise
Records,
you must configure your system before you can use IBM Enterprise
Records for records management
activities.
Configuration files
You should know that a number of IBM Enterprise
Records configuration files are
installed in the ier_install_path\Configure directory.
You might be able to access and edit some of these files for configuration
purposes.
Configuring security for the file plan object store (FPOS)
After you have configured the object store, you must set
the IBM Enterprise
Records security on
the file plan object store (FPOS). This task assigns IBM Enterprise
Records security roles to users
and groups and updates the default instance security on the IBM Enterprise
Records objects.
Modifying security privileges for the Records Users role
You can modify the security settings so that a user assigned
to the Records User role can create a version of a document that is
declared as a record by another user, who is also assigned to the
Records User role. To complete this task, must update the security
of the appropriate document classes on the FPOS. Before you modify
the document classes, you should run the security script wizard as
part of the typical object store configuration process.
Configuring the object stores for content-based retrieval (CBR)
The search template supports content-based retrieval (CBR),
which enables users to search an object store for records that contain
specific words or phrases that are embedded in the content of objects
that have been configured for full-text indexing. You must configure
the ROS and FPOS for CBR to ensure that users can perform content-based
searches using the search template.
(DoD Classified only) Creating the classified records security personnel access role
You can create the Classified Records Security Personnel
access role on the IBM FileNet® P8 system
for use with the DoD Classified data model. A member of this access
role can upgrade, downgrade, set the declassification timeframe, and
declassify a classified record in IBM Enterprise
Records.
Setting site preferences in Application Engine or Workplace XT
Before using IBM Enterprise
Records,
you must modify the site preferences in Application Engine or Workplace XT so that these applications
work appropriately with the IBM Enterprise
Records web
application.
Configuring workflows IBM Enterprise
Records provides
a number of workflows to accomplish records management tasks, such
as charging out records, destroying IBM Enterprise
Records entities, and reviewing
entities before destroying them. Before you can use these workflows
with your site you must configure them.
Configuring the IBM Enterprise Records tools
If you installed any of the optional tools during the IBM Enterprise
Records installation, you must
configure the tools on the server where they are installed. Before
you can run the IBM Enterprise
Records Disposition
Sweep or Hold Sweep applications, for example, you must configure
them for use in your environment by specifying, among other things,
the name of the FPOS and the Content Engine server
on which you want to run the sweep processes.
