IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Copying custom changes to the upgraded actions.xml file

(Customized actions.xml only) Reinstate custom changes to the actions.xml file. Custom changes to the actions.xml file are not retained on an upgrade. To retain changes you must copy the data from the backup file to the upgraded file.

The actions.xml file contains links between different roles or users and actions that are permitted on the system. At the time a user logs on, the logon is filtered with the actions.xml file to generate the role-based access available in the user interface.
Important: If you are upgrading from FileNet® Records Manager 4.0 and later, give read and write access (remove Read-Only) to the following files:
  • InfoPages.xml
  • RecordProperties.xml
  • ReportConfig.properties
These files are located under the configuration files directory specified during install. Typically they are located under ier_install_path\FileNet\Config\RM.

To copy custom changes to the upgraded actions.xml file:

  1. On the IBM® Enterprise Records server, navigate to ier_install_path\FileNet\Config\RM.
  2. Open the upgraded actions.xml file for editing.
  3. Copy custom changes to the upgraded actions.xml file.
  4. Copy the changes from a backup copy.
    Option Description
Versions 4.0, 4.5, and 4.5.1 Copy the custom changes from backed up actions.xml.BACKUP file in the ier_install_path\FileNet\Config\RM directory.
See Backing up your previous installation.
