Filtering the navigation view

You can learn how to filter the navigation view after reading this topic.

Some topics in this information center are tagged for particular criteria, for example, when a topic is only associated with a specific product component, database, or application server. In these situations, you can display only the topics you want to see in the Navigation view by using the filter settings.

The documentation under Plan and prepare for IBM FileNet P8, Install or upgrade IBM FileNet P8 Platform, and FileNet P8 High Availability Technical Notice has all been tagged by product component, underlying database, or underlying application server. If you select to filter content by any of these criteria, note that content in those sections will be filtered, but content in other sections will continue to display. For example, if you decide you want to see only information about Content Engine on DB2 for Linux, UNIX, and Windows, under Install or upgrade IBM FileNet P8 content about Application Engine, Process Engine, and Oracle, SQL Server will all be filtered out of the navigation view. Under IBM FileNet P8 documentation however, content about Application Engine, Process Engine, and Oracle, SQL Server will continue to display.

You can set filter conditions by performing the following steps:

  1. Click Filter (Filter) on the toolbar. The Information Filter window opens.
  2. Expand (Expand) and then select the filtering options that match your criteria.
  3. Click OK. The Navigation view refreshes and displays the topics that match your selected filter settings. The Filter button is highlighted to remind you that filter conditions are set.
Restriction: Note that any filter that you set affects only the display of topics in the Navigation view and actions like the quick print and quick search that you can take in the Navigation view. The filters are not applied to any other views, such as Index views, Search Results view, or Bookmarks views.
