IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Configuring property synchronization

You can configure property synchronization of records and their associated documents to ensure that when a property value is updated for one, it is updated for the other as well.

This works for properties that use the same symbolic name. You can synchronize from document to record or from record to document (but not both). If you synchronize from record to document, then the document will be updated when the record's corresponding property is updated.

You can also synchronize aliased properties across object stores, from record to document, or from document to record, but not both.

To configure property synchronization:

You configure property synchronization by performing the following tasks:

To create a subscription:

  1. Navigate to the class for which you want to create the subscription.
  2. Right-click the class and select Add Subscription. Then click Next in the Create a Subscription wizard.
  3. Specify a unique name and a description for the subscription and click Next.
  4. Select Applies to all instances and click Next. The Specify Triggers screen displays.
  5. For either the ROS (Object Stores/ROS/Document class) or the FPOS (Object Stores/FPOS/Document/Electronic Record class), select the Update event trigger and click Next. The Specify Event Action window displays. If syncing from the document to the record, use the ROS; if synching from the record to the document, use the FPOS.
  6. Select the AutoSynchronizeProperties event action and click Next. The Specify Additional Properties window displays.
  7. Select the Synchronous check box, but leave the Include Subclasses check box cleared, and then click Next.
  8. Click Finish.
