IBM Enterprise Records data models and add-ons

Before configuring an object store, you must select the IBM® Enterprise Records data model that most closely fits your records management needs.

A data model is a template for a file plan object store to be compliant with certain records management standards. The data model can include metadata and security features. When you create a new file plan object store, you must select a data model. There are currently four data models: Base, DoD, DoD Classified, PRO. The data models are contained in add-ons that you can add to your environment. You can configure your object stores to use the selected data models. You accomplish these tasks when using the Configuration Manager to complete configuration tasks. See the link at the end of this topic. The FPOS contains the file plan structure, while the ROS contains documents, some of which are declared as records. Typically, there would be many users with access to the ROS who should not have access to the entities that make up your file plan in the FPOS. You can have more than one ROS associated with one FPOS.

IBM Enterprise Records supports the following data models:
Base
This satisfies the requirements of most corporations. Provides core records management functionality and properties. The Base data model is sufficient for meeting most records management requirements and is the recommended model. However, it does not adhere to either the DoD, DoD Classified, or PRO standards.
Department of Defense (DoD)
This satisfies basic Department of Defense requirements per DoD Chapter 2. Includes the properties required by version 2 of the DoD standard (DoD 5015.2).
Department of Defense Classified (DoD Classified)
This satisfies Department of Defense Chapter 4 requirements, including classified records management. Includes the properties required by version 2 of the DoD Classified standard (DoD 5015.2) for managing classified records.
Public Records Office (PRO)
This satisfies Public Record Office (per UK standard) requirements. Includes the properties required by the PRO 2002 standard. The PRO data model might not be supported in subsequent releases of IBM Enterprise Records.
