A file plan is a hierarchy of containers, including record
categories and subcategories, record folders, and volumes, that define
the organization of records. IBM® Enterprise
Records supports
one or more file plans per FPOS, and your site can have multiple FPOSs.
The IBM Enterprise
Records application
displays only one file plan hierarchy at a time.
- For a graphical representation of the hierarchy, see Records management.
- A file plan determines the security and disposition of records.
By default, child entities inherit the security and disposition schedule
of their parent container. For more information about security and
disposition inheritance, see Object security and Disposition schedules.
- A file plan can also have naming patterns associated with it.
All entities created under the file plan will follow the naming pattern
rules you define for the file plan. Fir more information about naming
pattern rules, see Naming conventions for more
information.
- When a user initially accesses the application, the file plan
set as the default by a site preference displays. Each user can override
this default by setting a user preference. For more information, see Setting the default file plan.
- IBM Enterprise
Records includes
the File Plan Import Export Tool that enables you to export a file
plan to an external environment, such as deployment from a test environment
to a production environment. For details about this tool, see Using the File Plan Import and Export Tool.
