IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Security markings propagation

In general, child objects inherit security markings from the parent object. However, the PRO data model also allows parent objects to inherit settings from the child object if the child is given a more secure marking. Content Engine events are used to propagate updates to the parent security markings.

Before you install IBM® Enterprise Records, you should select the security marking propagation option that you want to set for objects. By default the system is configured to No propagation.

The following three security marking propagation options are available in IBM Enterprise Records:
Security marking propagations:
No propagation: Disables propagation from parent to child or child to parent. This is the recommended and default option.
Folder to Record: Child objects inherit security markings from the parent object.
Record to Folder: Parent objects inherit security markings from the child object if the child is given a more secure marking.
