Properties are the individual values that describe an object. To create a new property, you add a new property template using Enterprise Manager. A property template is an "outline" property that you assign to a class. During the creation process, you specify attributes of the property such as the data type, whether it is a single value or list, and other optional attributes.
To create a new Property Template
NOTE During the creation process, the Content Engine Property Template Wizard will request that you enter a value for the Category field of the property. The Category field enables you to visually group property templates, especially on the result pane. Enter Foundation Extensions-Records Manager in the Category field to classify this property as an IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records property.
After completing the wizard steps, you can see the new property added to the tree when you expand the Property Templates node. You can now associate the property with the relevant class. After it is associated with a class, the property propagates to the subclasses of that class. You can also directly associate a property with a subclass.
NOTE You can add/associate new properties to any of the existing classes in the data model.

NOTE The metadata cache on the Content Engine refreshes on a timed basis. If you do not wait the required amount of time, you will not see a new property.
Depending upon its Description and the Hidden parameters, a property is visible on the IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records user interface. For more information about displaying properties on the IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records user interface, refer to Customize the Display of Properties.
