If the option to retain metadata is configured for a file
plan, then entities that have been logically deleted (either manually
or by a disposition mechanism) remain in the object store until you
permanently delete these entities. Before you delete these entities,
you can export them to an XML file for archiving purposes.
To export retained metadata for logically-deleted entities:
- Log in to Enterprise Manager as
Administrator.
- Expand the node for the file plan object store.
- Right-click the Search Results node
and select New Search from the context menu
to open the Query Builder.
- Select the type of entity class that you want to export
from the Select from Table list box. For example,
select RecordInfo if you want to export only
records. The query builder displays all columns defined in the selected
table in the Select Columns list box.
- For the search criteria, select IsDeleted for
the Column, and Equal To for the Condition
(True should be selected for the Value).
- Click OK to start the search. When
the Query Status displays, click OK.
- The details pane displays the logically-deleted entities.
Select all of the entities, then right-click and select Add
to Export Manifest.
- The Include Options screen displays (Include
all associated objects should be selected). Click OK on
each Include Options screen to add the entities to the export manifest.
- Right-click the Export Manifest folder
and select Export All Objects.
- Click OK to perform the export.
- After the export finishes, click OK.
If you plan to permanently delete the entities you just
exported, do not perform another query or shut down Enterprise Manager until you have performed
the delete operation, because you want to perform the delete operation
on the same search result set that you generated for the export operation.
To
permanently delete entities after the export:
- Click Search Results. The details pane
displays the result set from your original search. Select all of the
entities, then right-click and select Multiselect Operations.
- from the Bulk Operations screen , select the Delete
Objects check box and click OK.
Click Yes to confirm the deletion.
- On the Bulk Operations Status screen, click OK.
