IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.+

Deciding on the number of databases or table spaces

In IBM® Enterprise Records, you must decide whether or not to use additional databases or table spaces for your object stores to improve performance.

Determine whether you need additional databases or table spaces for the File Plan Object Stores (FPOS) or the Record Object Stores (ROS) by applying appropriate database indexes to the object store databases and determining the number of database indexes to be used for content-based retrieval using the related links. Several database indexes, for example, can be created if certain conditions are met. These conditions tend to lead to performance degradation and the extra database indexes can improve performance. These conditions are documented in the IBM FileNet® P8 Performance Tuning Guide.
