IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Consistent deletion on SDS devices

To use the Consistent Delete feature to consistently delete documents on a Single Document Storage (SDS) device, the document properties must be stored in the FileNet® Image Services index database.

Documents that are captured on Content Platform Engine and federated directly to the image Services system are not indexed in FileNet Image Services. Also, older FileNet Image Services documents that are federated to Content Platform Engine might have their index properties deleted from the FileNet Image Services index database. If documents do not have cataloging information on FileNet Image Services, there is no way to update or trigger these documents for deletion on an SDS device.

Documents that do not have cataloging information on FileNet Image Services can be deleted on FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine regardless of the document retention. However, the document content remains orphaned on the SDS device regardless of the document retention settings.

The Consistent Delete feature deletes documents from an SDS device only in the following cases: If the document retention is not expired on the SDS device, the Consistent Delete feature does not prevent the creation of an orphaned document on the SDS device.
