The FileNet® P8 platform ensures Section 508 Compliance based on Electronic and Information Technology Accessibility Standards, published by the U.S. Access Board on December 21, 2000, at 36 CFR Part 1194. Compliance is achieved by incorporating Section 508 Subpart B Technical Standards, as applicable, in all design, development, and testing activities. In particular, IBM® addresses Section 508 product compliance in existing and new releases during all phases of product development, including design, design review, prototyping, construction, testing, quality assurance, and training of support staff.
In addition, IBM evaluates new user interfaces to ensure that color is not the only way to discriminate between items on the screen. Known limitations are documented. Installers, back-end office administration tools, and tools that require visual capabilities (for example, use of IBM FileNet Image Viewer) are exempt from full compliance; testing of these tools is limited. As such, product testing efforts focus on addressing components of Section 508, Subpart B, C, and D.
