Changing the content element MIME type

You can change the MIME type of a content element for a document object. The MIME type identifies the data type of the content that is associated with the object. The MIME type can be used to determine the appropriate application for editing or displaying the content. The MIME type for the content element can be different from the MIME type of the document.

Procedure

To download and change the MIME type of a content element:

  1. In the administration console, access the document object in which you want to change the MIME type of a content element.
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the object store that contains the document.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Browse > Root Folder, and select the folder of the document object.
    3. In the details pane, select a document by clicking the document link in the Containment Name column.
    4. Click the document tab.
  2. From the Actions menu, click Checkin, checkout, cancel > Checkin.
  3. In the Check In Document window, select a content element and click Change MIME Type.
  4. From the Change Content MIME Type window, type the new MIME type and click OK.
  5. Check in the document.
