FileNet P8 Rendition Engine, Version 5.2            Operating systems:  Windows

Setting the site preferences on the Application Engine to use path-based URLs

You must configure Application Engine to use path-based URLs to resolve graphics and other files linked from published HTML documents.

When publishing a document to HTML, the resulting HTML publication document usually contains references to graphics or other files that are required to correctly display the document. If you choose not to use path-based URLs, the references in the HTML code cannot be resolved and the HTML publication documents do not display correctly.

Portable Document Format (PDF) publication documents are self-contained and do not require the use of path-based URLs.
High availabilityTip:
  • In a high availability environment, you only need to set these site preferences once.
  • Setting the site preferences is not required on an upgrade. However, you should verify that your settings are valid.

Choose either Step 1 to configure the path-based URL parameter for Workplace, or Step 2 to configure the path-based URL parameter for Workplace XT.

  1. For Workplace, follow these steps:
    1. Login to the application as a user who is a member of the Application Engine Administrators group.
    2. Select Admin > Site Preferences.
    3. Under General > General Settings > Application, set Use path based URLs to Yes.
    4. Click Apply to save the setting.
    5. Click Exit.
  2. For Workplace XT, follow these steps:
    1. Login to the application as a user who is a member of the Application Engine Administrators group.
    2. Click Tools > Admin > Site Preferences.
    3. Under General > General Settings > Application, set Use path based URLs to Yes.
    4. Click OK to save the setting and exit.
