Existing documents, images, annotations, and other content that are already cataloged on
the FileNet® Image Services system can also be cataloged on a Content Platform Engine server. By using the Remote Admin Console, you can export
catalog information and annotations for existing FileNet Image Services
documents to Content Platform Engine.
Before you begin
Optional:
Configure federation of closed documents.. By default, the FileNet Image Services Catalog Export tool exports catalog information and annotations for active documents only.
Tip: When you initially configure your content federation
environment to export document properties from Image Services, test
the export with a few catalog entries before you export an entire document class. After you
determine the document properties that you want to export, try exporting several small groups of
catalog entries to measure the timing. Then, use the Content Platform Engine
administration console to fine-tune the process by adjusting the properties on the
Replication Subsystem tab of the domain.
Procedure
To configure a document class for export:
- At a Remote Admin Console workstation, click .
- Enter the appropriate FileNet Image Services user ID and password.
- Select .
- Click the Catalog Export tab.
- Select the document class whose data and annotations you want to export.
- Select the Content Platform Engine domain and object store that you want
to export the index data to.
- Configure the following settings to specify which documents to export to Content Platform Engine and whether to delete the catalog entries from FileNet Image Services after the documents are exported:
- Delete After Export
- Select this check box to remove index data from the FileNet Image Services
index database after the data is exported to Content Platform Engine. The
documents that are associated with the deleted index data are no longer retrievable by FileNet Image Services. Although a locator record still exists in the permanent
database, the index information is permanently deleted from the index database.
Tip: Do
not select this check box if you export document properties to a demonstration system for testing
purposes. Otherwise, there are no document properties to export when you later want to re-export
them to your production system.
Important: Do not select this check box for documents that are stored on EMC Centera, NetApp Snaplock, IBM® DR550, and other similar storage devices. These NLS-based devices require entries to remain in the FileNet Image Services index database.
- Re-export
- Select this check box to export index data that was previously exported, such as to a
development environment. You might also want to re-export the document properties if the property
mappings are changed. If this option is not selected, the previously exported catalog entries are
ignored.
Tip: If you re-export the same catalog entries to more than one Content Platform Engine object store, the mapped properties in only the most recent
object store are updated when an Image Services catalog entry is
updated.
- Annotations Only
- Select this check box if you want to export only the annotations that are associated with
documents in this class. This option is useful if you already exported the document properties to
Content Platform Engine in an earlier release.
- Click Add. The parameters that you selected are displayed in the
Export List pane. To remove a row from the export list, select the row and click
Delete.
- Click Export Now to export the index information and annotations
immediately.
Tip: If you do not want to export immediately, click Save to
write the configuration list to the export file on the FileNet Image Services
index server without exporting.
