Enable CBR for a string or string list property to allow
full-text searches of property text. For example, you can search the
DocumentTitle property of objects if you enable CBR for the property.
Before you begin
For a CBR-enabled property to be indexed, the class of the property must also be CBR-enabled.
About this task
Tip: As an alternative to enabling CBR for a
property, possibly create a database index. The guidelines for selecting
one alternative over the other are as follows:
- For functional reasons, enable CBR on the property if you intend
to search for property text as part of the object text in the full-text
search expression. A full-text search is necessary to search for synonyms,
word variants, and partial words such as 'like %foo'.
- For overall system performance or for reasons of convenience,
you might not want to create a database index. Some analysis and work
is required to configure database indexes properly. For more information,
see Guidelines for creating database indexes.
- For query performance reasons, however, create a database index
if possible. For more information, see Creating database indexes for class properties.
Procedure
To enable CBR for a class property:
- Access the class in the administration console:
- In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
- In the object store navigation pane, click the name
of the object store (the top-most item).
- Expand the folder and subfolders
until you find the class.
- Click the class. A tab opens for the class in the details
pane.
- In the details pane, click the Properties tab.
- In the Property Definitions field,
select the name of the property. A tab opens for the property.
- Set Is CBR enabled to true.
- Save your changes.
- Reindex the class to implement the change. (You can optionally
enable CBR for multiple properties and submit one index job for the
classes.) For more information, see Reindexing a class.
