Setting index area capacity

You set the capacity of an index area by defining limits for index entries. These limits govern the total size or total number of entries.

About this task

Specifically, the capacity is defined by the following limits:

For both the index area and individual full-text indexes, the configured capacity causes Content Platform Engine to automatically change the relevant resource status when appropriate. The status changes from OPEN to FULL.

Procedure

To set the capacity of an index area:

  1. Access the properties of the index area in the administration console:
    1. Listing index areas.
    2. In the details pane, click the name of the index area.
    3. Click the General tab.
  2. Enter values for the following fields:
    • Maximum index count
    • Index maximum object count
    • Index maximum size
    Important: Take into account any configured index partitions when you set the index area capacity. For more information, see Index partitions and index area capacity.
  3. Save your changes.
