Configure the propagation of document-related index failure
codes for the object store to help identify those objects with indexing
failures. The propagated failures are recorded in the Indexing Failure Code property of objects.
About this task
Attention: Configuring the object store to
propagate index failure codes might cause a perceptible decrease in
indexing performance.
The alternative means for identifying
document-related failures is to review the Content Platform Engine server logs for indexing
errors. Reviewing the log is necessary in some cases for uncommon
errors even when failure codes are propagated to objects. Using the
logs to find objects with index failures might be difficult for the
following reasons:
- A separate log exists for each Content Platform Engine server.
- The logs contain information that is not related to indexing or
content-based retrieval.
- Log information is lost as new log files are periodically created.
Procedure
To configure the object store to propagate index failure
codes to objects:
- Access the properties for the object store in the administration
console:
- In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
- In the object store navigation pane, click the name
of the object store (the top-most item).
- In the details pane, click the General tab.
- In the Indexing failures recording level field,
select Propagate to source.
- Save your changes.
