FileNet P8 Rendition Engine, Version 5.2            Operating systems:  Windows

Users required for Rendition Engine installation

To install, configure, and run Rendition Engine, you must use specific user and group accounts with particular access privileges.

Restriction: Under Windows Active Directory authentication, FileNet® P8 supports only security groups, not distribution groups. Supported groups can have a scope of domain local as long as they are in the same domain as Content Platform Engine, global, or universal.
Table 1. User accounts needed for installing IBM FileNet Rendition Engine, including the minimum permissions required.
Role/account Description
FNRE_Admin

A local or domain user account of type Administrator. This account must be added directly to the local Administrators group on all Rendition Engine servers.

Use this account both when installing Rendition Engine and when installing and configuring the authoring applications used to render documents.

Permissions: Local administrator privileges and log on as a service right on the machine where Rendition Engine is installed.

High availabilityFor a highly available Rendition Engine environment the required FNRE_Admin user is a domain user that is available to all Rendition Engine servers.
Important: Use the same named account with the same password on all Rendition Engine servers.
GCD_Admin

GCD administrator user. A FileNet P8 Platform user that is part of the GCD administrators. This user was already created for the Content Platform Engine.

You need this user when you configure the Rendition Engine Connection on Content Platform Engine. See Configuring Rendition Engine connections on Content Platform Engine.

re_db_user (SQL_login)

Microsoft SQL Server only: Any SQL Server user with the SQL Server Database Creators server role.

This user is created as part of the Microsoft SQL Server installation and is a safer alternative to using SQL Server's SA or SYS users, which also satisfy the configuration requirements.

See Configuring a Microsoft SQL Server login for Rendition Engine.

re_db_user (VISTAUSER) Oracle Server only: This user is created when you run the Oracle-Repository.sql script as part of the Oracle Server installation. See Creating an Oracle database for Rendition Engine.
