Content caching

Both file and database content can be cached, allowing for quick retrieval of frequently used content.

You can create and manage a content cache at any level in the server hierarchy.

A distributed FileNet® P8 system has many clients that read content files from either a remote file server or a database (most likely on a remote server). To reduce network traffic, content can be cached on the file system that is local to the Content Platform Engine server.

A content cache area is an area that contains frequently accessed document content that has been duplicated from the original content that resides in storage areas. Typically, a content cache delivers content to users who are in the same local area network (LAN) as the cache. The purpose of a content cache is to expedite access to the document content of any geographically remote or slow-to-access storage areas.
