Detecting Content Services property updates

In order for IBM® FileNet® CFS for Content Integrator to identify Content Services property updates besides those that are associated with check-out and check-in operations, add a custom date/time property to the data map and include the property in the federation rule. Your Content Services applications must update the value of this custom property whenever the values of any properties are updated.

About this task

There is no Content Services system property that is updated automatically when a property value is updated for a document. The Last Modified Date property is updated only when a document is checked out and then checked in.

Procedure

To detect Content Services property updates:

  1. Create a custom date/time property in the Content Services document class and apply it to all documents that are to be federated.
  2. Ensure that the custom property value is updated each time the metadata on a document is changed. Configure your Content Services applications to always update this custom property with the current date whenever any property is changed.
  3. Add the custom property to the data map.
  4. Include the custom property in the federation rule so that it causes updated documents to be refederated.
