Before you can use Rendition Engine for
document rendering, you must install all of the supporting authoring
applications that are used to create and render publication documents
and configure the applications to run without user intervention.
Before you install Microsoft Office:
- Copy the contents of the Microsoft Office
CD-ROM to a local drive and install Microsoft Office
from this location.
- If you set the Regional Option to non-US/English for your operating
system, bookmark extraction will not work properly when rendering
a document. Configure non-US/English Regional Option settings after
you have installed Microsoft Office.
Install and configure the supported authoring applications
that are used to create and render publication documents on each IBM®
FileNet® Rendition Engine server you plan to use.
Perform these steps on each Rendition Engine server.
To install and configure authoring applications:
- Install the authoring applications for the
type of document that you plan to render to PDF or HTML. For
example, for Word document rendering support install Microsoft Office Word, for Excel document
rendering support install Microsoft Excel. For a complete list of supported applications, see System requirements: Hardware and software requirements
for IBM
FileNet P8..
- Confirm that the authoring application starts and runs
without user intervention.
To render documents
accurately, Rendition Engine requires
the authoring application to run cleanly, without problems, and without
dialogs or prompts. After you install the authoring application, start
the application to confirm that it runs properly without dialogs opening,
including the registration dialogs.
- Start the Microsoft Office
components. When the Microsoft Office
application is started and registered, press ALT+F11 to
load and register the Microsoft Visual
Basic for Applications (VBA) editor.
