Reindexing an object

Reindex an object to rebuild the index information for the object. Only an object that belongs to an indexable class can be reindexed.

Before you begin

Database indexes for index jobs. Create the appropriate database indexes to optimize index job performance.

About this task

Reindexing an object might be useful for the following purposes:

Also, if an object is currently marked as skipped for indexing, reindexing the object unmarks the object.

Procedure

To reindex an object:

  1. Access the folder for the object in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, expand the Browse folder and expand subfolders as necessary to find your object.
  2. In the details pane, click the name of your object.
  3. Click Index for Content Search. An index job is created for the object.
  4. Optional: Listing index areas. Monitor the progress of the index job.
