Best practices for IBM FileNet Case Monitor integration

Consider the following best practices when you are using the IBM® FileNet® Case Monitor project.

Factors to consider for user-defined dimensions and measures

Memory usage is a primary consideration when you are configuring the Case Monitor project. Each additional measure in a stateful view or cube, additional dashboard object, and additional rule and alert combination can increase memory usage. Monitor the memory usage as you add these items to the Case Monitor project. It is best to make one change at a time. For example, add one user-defined field, and create the dashboard object, rules, and alert by using that field. Check the system memory usage at each addition before you continue to the next item.

The following are tips for configuring a Case Monitor project:

Configure lookup tables to use on-demand caching

When you create a lookup table that queries user-defined dimension data from the Case Analyzer store, disable the Enable prefetch option. Because Case Analyzer dimension tables can grow over time and it is not possible to synchronize the invalidation schedule with the dimension table updates, do not enable the Enable prefetch option.

  1. Select the Cache data for this lookup table option.
  2. Clear the Enable prefetch option.
  3. Set the Number of result sets to cache based on the expected number of entries. Match the number of rows that are estimated to exist in the Case Analyzer dimension table.
  4. Set the Invalidation Schedule by clicking Add Schedule and set an interval value so that it is never invalidated. For example, set an invalidation schedule that runs once a year on February 31. There is no reason to invalidate the cache because the Case Analyzer dimension members will not change.
