Unlocking work items by users or queues

You can release the locks that are held by other users. To do so, you must be a member of the workflow system administration group.

About this task

Work items can be left locked for various reasons. An application failure, for example, might leave work items locked, or someone might go on vacation with unresolved work items still pending.

Procedure

To unlock work items that are locked by other users:

  1. Retrieving work items. Retrieve some work items. The search parameters do not matter.
  2. On the Search Results tab, click Actions > Tasks > Unlock Work by Users and Queues.
  3. In the Unlock Work by Users and Queues window, set the search criteria for the work items by selecting users and queues.
  4. Optional: Click Preview to view the work items in the selected queues that are locked by the selected users. You can review this list before unlocking the work items.
  5. Click OK to unlock the work items.
