If you plan to use a TCP/IP port other than
the default port for the Microsoft SQL Server database
connection, you must install the Microsoft SQL Server Native client on the
servers that host Rendition Engine.
Database connectivity must be configured and verified before you
install IBM®
FileNet® Rendition Engine software.
Read the following information before you install the
Microsoft SQL Server Native client to prepare
for the installation.
- Install Microsoft SQL Server Native
client on the servers that host Rendition Engine if
the database connection is going to use a port other than the default
port.
- Install the 32-bit Microsoft SQL Server Native
client when you are installing Rendition Engine in
a Windows 64-bit environment.
Do not install the 64-bit Microsoft SQL Server Native
client.
- Remote Microsoft SQL Server connections
to Rendition Engine are handled
by Microsoft Access Components
which is installed on Rendition Engine servers
by default. If you use the default TCP/IP port for these remote connections,
the Microsoft SQL Server Native
client is not needed.
- Make sure the computer where you plan to install the Microsoft SQL Server Native client meets
all of the preinstallation requirements that are specified in the Microsoft SQL Server Native
client Installation Guide.
- See System requirements: Hardware and software requirements
for IBM
FileNet P8 for
requirements that pertain to operating systems, service packs, supported Microsoft SQL Server versions, and patch
sets.
