A workflow generates exception 5C020008.

Symptoms

A workflow generates the exception The user, group, or device object information could not be found.

Causes

An invalid user is assigned to a workflow group, tracker group, or step.

Resolving the problem

Do one of the following actions:

An invalid user is assigned to a workflow group.

Use one of the following tools to fix the problem:
  • Start of changeAdministration console: Remove the invalid user from the workflow group. For information about changing the membership of a group for a work item, see Editing workflow groups for work items.End of change
  • Process Tracker:
    1. Select the work item in the user-defined Malfunction map. (The default Malfunction map is visible in Process Tracker only if the map is overridden by a user-defined Malfunction map.)
    2. On the Workflow Group tab, select the workflow group and click Manage Workflow Group.
    3. Resolve the invalid user for the workflow group.

An invalid user is assigned to a tracker group.

Start of changeRemove the invalid user from the tracker group. For information about changing the membership of a group for a work item, see Editing workflow groups for work items.End of change

An invalid user is assigned to a step.

This problem cannot be fixed in a running workflow.
