The command line method provides a way to silently install
the Content Platform Engine Client
files. You can use the values in your installation worksheet to edit
the silent input text file before you run the installation.
Before you begin
Be sure that you have available
the Installation and Upgrade Worksheet that was completed during your
planning activities.
Important: Be sure
that Content Platform Engine is running
before you start installing Content Platform Engine Client
files.
Procedure
To install the Content Platform Engine Client
files silently:
- Open your completed Installation and Upgrade Worksheet
file.
Tip: In the worksheet file, verify
that the command is enabled.
To view only Content Platform Engine values,
filter by CPE Client Installer in the Installation
or Configuration Program column.
- On the machine where Application Engine is installed, log on as
any user who has the following permissions:
- Read and write permission to a temporary directory, such as temp (Windows) or tmp (AIX®, HPUX, HPUXi, Linux, Linux for System z,
or Solaris), on the machine where Application Engine is installed
- Execute permission on the Content Platform Engine Client installation
software
- Verify that there is a current backup of the Application Engine.
- Copy the Content Platform Engine Client installation
software from the Content Platform Engine installation
software to the temporary directory. The version of the installation
software must match the version of Content Platform Engine.
- Expand the compressed Content Platform Engine Client installation
software file in the temporary directory.
- Close all instances of Workplace and any other Application Engine client applications. From
the application server administrative console, stop and undeploy Application Engine.
