Installing content federation on UNIX silently

You can silently install IBM® FileNet® CFS for Content Integrator on supported UNIX operating systems.

Procedure

To install silently on UNIX operating systems:

  1. Log on to the IBM Content Integrator server as a user with write access to the /bin directory and read, write, and execute access to the directory where you plan to install IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator.
  2. Copy the CFS_silent_install.txt file to a local directory.
  3. Open the file in a text editor, edit the file according to the instructions in the file, and save your changes.
  4. Access the IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator software package.
  5. Run the following command:
    path/5.2.1-CFS-platform.bin 
      -i silent -f response_file_path/CFS_silent_install.txt
    where:
    • path is the directory path to the installation program in the IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator software package.
    • platform is one of the following values, depending on your operating system:
      • AIX®
      • HPUX
      • HPUXi
      • LINUX
      • SOLARIS
      • Linux for System z
    • response_file_path is the directory path to the edited CFS_silent_install.txt file.
    Note: If the command spans two lines, type it without carriage returns unless you escape each carriage return with a backslash character.
  6. Check the federator_install_log_5.2.1.txt file in the cfs_install_path directory. Correct any errors that occurred during the installation.
