Configuring communication between Content Platform Engine and FileNet Image Services

Configure Content Platform Engine to use the correct four-part Network Clearing House (NCH) name for communication with FileNet® Image Services.

About this task

The NCH service is a FileNet Image Services component that tracks the network resources and IP addresses, including the IP address of the Root or Index server.

There are two ways that Content Platform Engine can determine the address of the FileNet Image Services system:
Name resolution through the local hosts file
This method is straightforward because it does not require privileges on a domain name system. However, the system administrator must ensure that the hosts files on all Content Platform Engine servers are updated.
Name resolution through a Name Resolution Service
This method is easier because the domain name and the IP address of the FileNet Image Services system must be updated in only one place. However, it requires privileges on a centralized name resolution service system.
