Database first search runs slowly

When you run a database first search, either by using the SQL option CBR_DB_FIRST or as the result of a dynamic switching choice of database first, the IBM® Content Search Services server takes a long time to return the search results.

Symptoms

The search results are delayed.

Causes

Database first searches that do not include a WHERE condition can perform inefficiently.

Resolving the problem

Verify that the search includes a WHERE condition on a property that limits the results to a relatively small number of rows (fewer than a few hundred) and that the property is indexed. For optimal performance, database first searches require database indexes on at least one property in the WHERE clause. Otherwise, queries will perform inefficiently during the database-only portion of the search.
