IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Opening a work item

You can open a work item in its associated step processor. Use the step processor to complete work on behalf of another participant. When you complete work on behalf of someone else, you must perform all the actions required to complete the step, such as entering responses or data values, or specifying attachments or workflow group participants.

  1. From the Tasks menu, select Open Work Item.
  2. Select a step from the Step list.

Process Tracker lists steps that have active work items only. In addition, Process Tracker does not display steps associated with queues to which you are denied access.

In the Work Queue box, Process Tracker displays the name of the associated work queue, or Inbox if the work item is in a user queue.

  3. In the Participants list, select a work item to open.
    • If a work item is assigned to a work queue, the name of the queue is displayed in square brackets.
    • If a work item is assigned to a participant, the name of the user is displayed.
    • If a work item is locked by a user other than the one to whom it is assigned, the name of that user is displayed in parentheses.
  4. Click OK.
  5. In the work item, you can perform the actions required for this step.
