Rule management

After you create rules, you can manage and schedule the rules on the Rule Management page.

Rules are displayed in the order of priority. You can change the priority of a rule by moving it up or down in the list. You can enable or disable each rule as needed. Each rule has an associated status as follows:

Rule status Description
Scheduled The rule is ready to be processed.
Processing The rule is in the query phase of processing and is not finished. The exporter is performing the query and creating export batches. The exporter can start exporting batches and creating import sessions. The importer can start processing the import sessions and federating documents. When the query and create export batches are done, the next stage of exporting is started.
Exporting The rule is in the export phase of processing and is not finished. The exporter is processing export batches and creating import sessions. The importer can work on processing the import sessions and federating documents. When the exporter finishes exporting all the batches and creating all the import sessions, the next stage of importing is started.
Importing The rule is in the import phase of processing. The importer is processing the import session and federating documents.
Federated The documents that are specified by the rule are federated.
Federated with export errors The documents that are specified by the rule are federated but there are export errors.
Federated with import errors The documents that are specified by the rule are federated but there are import errors.
Federated with errors The documents that are specified by the rule are federated but there are export and import errors.
Aborted The query phase failed.

The query phase, exporting phase, and importing phase run in parallel.

You can click a rule name to edit its values in the Rule Builder window.

You can also export or import the configuration from or to an XML format file.

If a federation run is canceled before it finishes, click the status to view a detailed message. If a federation run completes with import or export errors, click the number in the Export Errors or Import Errors column to view the list of errors that occurred during the federation processing. To view a detailed description of each error, click the Info icon.
