Setting up IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator

To set up IBM® FileNet® CFS for Content Integrator, you must configure communication between Content Platform Engine and the IBM Content Integrator external repositories, map the Content Platform Engine properties to the properties of the external repositories, and define rules to specify which documents to federate from the external repositories.

Before you begin

Before you configure the content federation system, you must install IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator.

Procedure

To set up IBM FileNet CFS for Content Integrator:

  1. Start the content federation system.
  2. Create JDBC data sources in the Content Platform Engine application server to connect to the Federator database. Use the Configure Object Store JDBC Data Sources task in Configuration Manager to create the data sources, such as cfsdbds and cfsdbdsxa.
Tip: For highly available environments, create the data sources on the administrative server if you use WebSphere® Application Server or WebLogic Server. If you use JBoss Application Server, deploy the data sources to each farm node.
  3. In the Content Platform Engine administration console, configure a connection to Content Integrator by creating a fixed storage device and fixed storage area:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click Global Configuration > Administration > Fixed Content Devices and click New. Select Federated Device (IBM Content Integrator) from the Type list and set the configuration parameters.
    2. In the navigation pane of the object store in which you plan to store the federated documents, click Administrative > Storage > Storage Areas and click New. Select Fixed for the storage area type and complete the wizard.
  4. In the Content Platform Engine administration console, create document classes and custom properties that correspond to the document classes and custom properties of the documents in the external repositories that you plan to federate.
  5. In the Content Integrator administration tool, map Content Platform Engine properties to the properties of the external repositories.
  6. In the Federation Administration web application, create federation rules to specify which documents to federate from the external repositories. The default web address of the Federation Administration web application is http://host_name:port number/FedAdmin.
  7. Verify the content federation system.
