Property mappings between FileNet Image Services and Content Platform Engine

If the documents in the document classes that you define on Content Platform Engine are also cataloged on the FileNet® Image Services system, the properties that you define for the Content Platform Engine document classes must equate to index properties that you define for the corresponding document classes on FileNet Image Services.

User-defined properties

Use the following tables for each supported relational database type to help you define the index properties for your federated system.

DB2® data types

FileNet Image Services data type Display Mask Content Platform Engine data type
Numeric ######### Float or integer
Numeric ########## Float
Numeric #.## Float
String <any> String. Must be the same length as the FileNet Image Services string.
Date <any> Date or string
Menu

A FileNet Image Services menu must have the same number of entries and values as the corresponding Content Platform Engine choice list.

<any> String (as choice list). Must be the same length as the FileNet Image Services string.

Oracle data types

FileNet Image Services data type Display Mask Content Platform Engine data type
Numeric ######### Long integer
Numeric ########## Float
Numeric #.## Float
String <any> String. Must be the same length as the FileNet Image Services string.
Date <any> Date or string
Menu

A FileNet Image Services menu must have the same number of entries and values as the corresponding choice list.

<any> String (as choice list). Must be the same length as the FileNet Image Services string.
Important: If you export index properties from an FileNet Image Services document class to a Content Platform Engine document class that has one or more required properties that have not been mapped, such documents are not federated and are not available to the Content Platform Engine user.
There are two options to solve this problem:
  • Verify that all the Content Platform Engine properties that are defined as required have been mapped to FileNet Image Services index properties in the appropriate document class
  • Delete the unmapped and required Content Platform Engine property from the document class.

Mapping the FileNet Image Services document ID number

Map the FileNet Image Services document ID number to a floating point number on the Content Platform Engine system. The FileNet Image Services document ID field can hold a value of up to 4,000,000,000. Because this maximum value is much larger than the 32-bit signed integer that the Content Platform Engine property can hold, you can map the FileNet Image Services document ID to only the Float data type.

Mapping menus and choice lists

When the system administrator maps FileNet Image Services properties with menus and Content Platform Engine properties with choice lists, all values in the FileNet Image Services menu and the Content Platform Engine choice list must be identical. Administration Console for Content Platform Engine does not verify that all values are available and correct in both lists.

For example, if you select a value from a Content Platform Engine choice list that is not equal to any of the values in the FileNet Image Services menu, the replication fails.

When you add new menu or choice list values, you must add them to both the FileNet Image Services and the Content Platform Engine properties.

Multi-valued Content Platform Engine properties

You cannot use multi-valued Content Platform Engine properties with Content Federation Services for Image Services.
