Maximum per batch property

The Maximum Per Batch property for text extraction processes specifies the maximum number of concurrent text extraction processes that are allowed per indexing batch.

By default, the value of this property is set to 2. If you are using the default text extraction mechanism (the Oracle® Outside In Search Export product) and are experiencing poor indexing performance, you might improve performance by increasing the value of this property. If you increase the value of the property, do so in small increments so that you do not overload the system. Monitor CPU consumption after increasing this property value, and reduce the property value if CPU consumption goes too high.

Note that another text extraction processes property, Total Allowed, controls the maximum limit for the number of concurrent text extraction processes that can occur for each Content Platform Engine server process. When the value of the Indexing Workers property multiplied by the value of the Maximum Per Batch property is equal to the value of the Total Allowed property, indexing threads must wait for text extraction processes to become available.
