FileNet P8 Rendition Engine, Version 5.2            Operating systems:  Windows

Configuring Microsoft Office hyperlinks for publishing (Office 2007, Office 2010)

Ensure that Rendition Engine properly converts Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel documents that contain hyperlinks, external links, image links, and other links. Hyperlinks must not be updated, but must be kept relative.

Complete this step on the IBM® FileNet® Rendition Engine server and on each client computer where Microsoft Office applications such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, or Microsoft PowerPoint are installed. These settings ensure that hyperlinks are treated correctly during publishing.
Important: The changes take effect on all Microsoft Office applications that are installed on the server.

To configure Microsoft Office hyperlinks:

  1. Open the application options:
    1. (Office 2010) In any Microsoft Office application, click File > Options.
    2. (Office 2007) In any Microsoft Office application, click the Microsoft Office button, and then:
      • For Microsoft Word, click Word Options.
      • For Microsoft Excel, click Excel Options.
      • For Microsoft PowerPoint, click PowerPoint Options.
  2. Click Advanced.
  3. Scroll down to the General tab, and click Web Options.
  4. Select the Files tab.
  5. Select the Use long file names whenever possible check box.

This setting ensures that Rendition Engine properly converts Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft PowerPoint, documents that contain hyperlinks, external links, image links, and other links.

  6. Clear the Update links on save check box.

This setting ensures that hyperlinks are not updated but are kept relative. If this setting is not done, a document with an HTML link points to the location where the source document was copied during publishing.
