Delete a lifecycle policy

About this task

You can delete a lifecycle policy only if it is not assigned to a document class. Take care when deleting a lifecycle policy. If a policy is assigned to a document, deleting the policy puts the document in an invalid state.

Procedure

To delete a lifecycle policy:

  1. In the administration console, access the lifecycle policies for this object.
    1. In the domain navigation pane, select the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, select the Event, Actions, Processes > Document Lifecycle Policies folder.
  2. Right-click the policy that you want to delete and click Delete.
  3. Click Yes to confirm deletion. The system then determines if the policy is assigned to any document class. If the policy is assigned to a document class, the system displays a list of document classes and cancels the delete request. You must remove the lifecycle policy from each document class specified before you can delete the policy.
Important: The system does not check whether the lifecycle policy is assigned directly to a document.
