Creating an XLIFF file

Use the Create XLIFF option in Process Configuration Console to export localizable authored strings to an XLIFF 1.1 file for translation to a target language.

To create an XLIFF file for a target language:

  1. In the scope pane, right-click the icon of the isolated region and click Create XLIFF file.
  2. In the Create XLIFF file window, select the target language, such as French, Spanish, and so on.
  3. Click Browse and select a location to save the file. The default location is the desktop.
Important: Do not change the file name. Process Engine API uses this file name at run time to locate the appropriate language file.
  4. Click OK to create the file.
Tip: After you translate the strings in the file, you can use Verify XLIFF File (on the menu for the isolated region) to check the translated file for possible syntax errors that must be corrected before the file can be used. The verification also displays a warning for the following conditions:
  • Duplicated translated values (a=b, c=b)
  • Null or empty authored names
  • Null or empty translated values
  • Translated values that are the same as a different authored name (a=b, b=a)
