Mapping Content Platform Engine properties to properties of the external repositories

To map Content Platform Engine properties to the properties of the documents to be federated from external repositories, define a data map in Content Integrator.

About this task

Ensure that you use the symbolic names of Content Platform Engine properties in the data map. For example, map the Content Platform Engine property filename to the external repository property File Name.

IBM® FileNet® Content Federation Services for Content Integrator supports only a subset of the property data types that are defined by the Content Platform Engine object model. Object and binary property data types are not supported, but multi-valued properties are supported. The following data types are supported:

Procedure

To map the Content Platform Engine properties to the properties of the external repositories:

  1. In the Content Integrator administration tool, click Configuration Data > Data Maps.
  2. Select an existing data map or create a data map by right-clicking the Data Maps folder and selecting New Data Map.
  3. Click Create Element or Modify Element to open the Data Map Element editor.
  4. Enter the symbolic name of a Content Platform Engine property in the Element Name field.
  5. For a new data map, select a connector to the external repository.
  6. In the Select an Item Class list, select an item class in the external repository.
  7. In the Select a Property list, select a property of the external repository.
  8. Click Property Description to view or update the description.
  9. After you finish mapping the required properties, save the settings.
Tip: If you need to remove a property mapping from a data map, first remove any existing Federation Administration application rules that reference the property before you remove the mapping from the data map.
