Review the planning information before you upgrade IBM®
FileNet® Content Federation Services for Content
Integrator components or any required third-party software.
Supported upgrade paths
You can upgrade to
IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator 5.2.1 from the following versions:
- IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator 4.5.1 Fix Pack 1 or later
- IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator 5.0.0 Fix Pack 1 or later
- IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator 5.1.0 Fix Pack 1 or later
- IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator 5.2.0 Fix Pack 2 or later
There is no rolling upgrade path.
The upgrade process does not affect the existing database. You do not need to uninstall IBM
FileNet CFS for Content Integrator before you upgrade, but it is a best practice to undeploy the
Federation Administration application.
Tip: Plan and test the upgrade on a designated test system first. Verify that the
upgrade is successful by running functionality and stress tests. After successful verification,
perform the production upgrade.
The upgrade procedure assumes that you:
- Retain your basic platform configuration from the previous release. The documented upgrade
procedure does not address migrations to different operating systems, databases, or application
servers during upgrade. To migrate components or third-party software from one platform to another,
such as migrating the database from SQL Server to Oracle, contact your IBM
FileNet P8 support representative.
- Maintain the existing user and group definitions during the upgrade.
- Apply only the necessary supported third-party software updates, service packs, fix packs, and
patches, as noted in the IBM
FileNet P8 system requirements.
- Apply the required minimum level of IBM
FileNet P8 service packs,
fix packs, or interim fixes to the currently installed software before you upgrade. Service packs,
fix packs, and test fixes often include feature updates that are required to ensure a successful
upgrade.
