Managing replication

Replication is the process of copying and distributing data and objects from a Content Platform Engine object store to a FileNet® Image Services repository to synchronize between these systems to maintain consistency.

About this task

Before you can replicate, you must define a replication group. A replication group associates an object store with an external repository. An external repository is a repository object that has an associated fixed content device. Each fixed content device can be associated with only one external repository.

You can define the replication direction for data synchronization. After you define one or more replication groups, you can map a Content Platform Engine document class to a FileNet Image Services document class. If you select a replication direction of Both, data and objects are synchronized in both directions and the index catalog on both Content Platform Engine and FileNet Image Services match. For Inbound and Outbound options, the direction of synchronization is relative to Content Platform Engine:
  • If you select the Inbound option, the data and properties on Content Platform Engine are synchronized to match the data and properties on FileNet Image Services.
  • If you select the Outbound option, the data and properties on FileNet Image Services are synchronized to match the data and properties on Content Platform Engine.

After you map a document class within a replication group, you can map specific properties of the Content Platform Engine document class to properties of the FileNet Image Services document class.

Tip: To configure how Content Platform Engine performs bidirectional replication, click the Replication Subsystem tab in the domain navigation pane of the administration console.
