IBM®
FileNet® Content Federation Services for Content Manager
OnDemand federates content from Content Manager OnDemand so that the content can be accessed in Content Platform Engine. IBM Content Manager OnDemand is an automated
archival and retrieval system that stores printed output, such as reports, statements, invoices, and
image documents.
Content Federation Services for Content Manager OnDemand provides the following benefits:
- Direct access to existing Content Manager OnDemand documents from any
application that is built on the FileNet P8 Platform. This direct access
provides many benefits, including use of the cataloging capabilities that are provided by Content Manager, access to Content Manager OnDemand documents
within FileNet P8 business process management applications, and the
use of IBM Enterprise Records to manage the lifecycle of Content Manager OnDemand documents.
- Existing documents remain in Content Manager OnDemand. There is no need to
export, convert, or modify existing documents, which is a cost benefit and ensures that document
integrity is maintained.
- Continued use of all existing applications that load documents into Content Manager OnDemand systems. There is no need to incur the cost of rewriting these
applications to take advantage of the FileNet P8 capabilities.
- Use of Content Platform Engine to store Content Manager OnDemand document metadata, which allows users to view Content Manager OnDemand documents through FileNet P8
client applications.
- A mechanism for cataloging Content Manager OnDemand documents in Content Platform Engine. The connections between Content Platform Engine and Content Manager OnDemand systems tolerate
network outages and system restarts on either side of the connection.
