Configuring multiple RMI proxy servers

Consider configuring multiple RMI proxy servers if you are federating many documents.

Procedure

To configure multiple RMI proxy servers:

  1. On the IBM® Content Integrator server, log on to the Administration Tool.
  2. Select the connector that is being used to connect to the external repository.
  3. Edit the RMI proxy connector URL and add more entries to the list. For example:
    rmi://host:1251/RMIBridgeServer
    rmi://host:1253/RMIBridgeServer
  4. On the host server where the RMI proxy server runs, navigate to C:\Program Files\ContentIntegrator\bin.
  5. Stop all RMI proxy servers that are running on this host server.
  6. Create a copy of the installed RMI proxy server startup script (RMIBridge.bat or RMIBridge.sh).
Tip: Use a naming convention for the original script and the new script to indicate the server and port where the RMI proxy server will start.
  7. Open the new script and set the VBR_RMIPORT to a different port number, such as 1253.
  8. Save the changes. Run both scripts to start both RMI proxy servers.
  9. Go back to the IBM Content Integrator server and verify that the IBM Content Integrator Administration tool can successfully connect with the RMI proxy servers.
  10. If the RMI proxy server crashes during the federation, follow the previous steps to create more RMI proxy servers.
