About application spaces, roles, and in-baskets

An application space is way of organizing the resources for a custom application that uses a workflow.

Use either Process Designer or Process Configuration Console to specify an application space to contain the security information for the application and the roles who will process the activities in the application.

You define roles, such as Clerk, Approver, and so on, to organize the specification of users who will process different types of activities in the application. A role includes security information and access to in-baskets appropriate for the role.

To make it easy for users to select work, you define one or more in-baskets for each role. An in-basket filters work items in a queue to display only items that meet your query specification.
