For documents that are acquired by Content Platform Engine, only one version of the document and its annotations can be replicated to FileNet® Image Services, and that version must have content. Subsequent versions are Content Platform Engine only versions.
If you create a version of a federated document, the new version is treated as though it was originally a Content Platform Engine document and any annotations that are associated with the earlier version are not carried forward to the new version.
In Content Platform Engine, each time a document is checked in, a new version of the document is saved. All versions of a document are defined collectively as the document version series. Within FileNet Image Services, the concept of versioning does not apply. Each variation of a document is treated as a distinctly separate document.
Versioning behavior in a Content Federation Services for Image Services system depends on whether a default replication group is defined for the Content Platform Engine document class:
If the default replication group is not defined in the document class definition, all new and subsequent versions of the document in Content Platform Engine do not automatically replicate to FileNet Image Services. New and subsequent versions of the document can be manually replicated at any time.
If the following conditions are true, replication fails for any new or subsequent versions:
When a new version of an annotated document is created, annotations are not copied or reattached to the new version.
