You can search for documents and other objects based on
property values and the document content.
The key search capabilities are as follows:
- Language-aware search terms are automatically expanded
to include word stem variants and synonyms.
- Search terms can include wildcards.
- A single search can span multiple object stores across databases.
- Users can search for documents, folders, and custom objects. Searches
can be designed to specify multiple folders, including a common folder
name that is used in multiple object stores.
- Search results can be displayed in a document summary format,
which includes a brief text summary that is extracted from result
documents.
- Search results can be ranked by relevancy.
- Searches can be created and stored for easy execution of common
queries.
- Search templates can be created to provide a simple user interface
for entering search criteria.
- Shortcuts to searches can be saved so that the searches are easy
to find later.
- Searches can be expanded to retrieve documents, folders, and custom
objects in the same search specification.
- A search can be run as a background process. The
results of a background search are saved as Content Platform Engine objects, which can
be examined when necessary. Running a query as part of a background
search has the following advantages over a conventional search:
- You can start a background search and proceed with other activities
while the search is running.
- You can process the search results by using the built-in reporting
framework.
