Setting the throttle limit

Content Platform Engine stops an index job from generating more index requests when the number of incomplete index requests is detected to be over a configurable limit. The index job resumes when the number of incomplete index requests for the job is detected to be below the limit.

Temporary stoppage of generating index requests is known as throttling, and is intended to help regulate the use of system resources. The status of a throttled index job does not change; it remains IN PROGRESS.

About this task

You can set the limit of incomplete index requests that an index job generates.

Procedure

To set the throttle limit:

  1. In the administration console, click the Object Store > object store name to open the object store.
  2. Open Administrative > Index Jobs Manager.
  3. Open the index job.
  4. On the General tab, set the Maximum Request Queue Size property.

The default value for this property is 100,000 and the minimum value is 1000. To impose no limits on outstanding index requests, set this property to Unlimited.
