Install the Oracle client software on the Rendition Engine server to enable communication
with a Rendition Engine database
on a remote server.
Complete this task on the Rendition Engine server. Repeat this task
on each server where you plan to install IBM®
FileNet® Rendition Engine, if the database is
remote from the Rendition Engine server.
The
following procedure describes the minimum options for installing Oracle
Client software. See the Oracle installation documentation for complete
instructions and preinstallation requirements.
To install the Oracle Client software:
- Log on as an Oracle administrative user to install and
configure the Oracle Client software.
Recommendation: Log on to the computer locally
(not through a Windows domain).
- Start the Oracle Client installation.
- From the Available Products dialog
box, click Oracle Client.
- From the Installation Types dialog
box, click Runtime, and proceed with the installation.
- After the installation completes, click Next
Installation.
- On the Installation Types dialog box,
click Custom and select the following products
from the list in the Available Product Components dialog
box, then complete the installation.
- Network Utilities (same as oracle net)
- SQL* Plus
- JDBC/OCI Interfaces
- Oracle Windows Interfaces
- Select all the components listed in this section.
- Use the Oracle Net Configuration Assistant to create a
Local Net Service Name configuration to the Oracle database. Then
test the connection to the Oracle database server with the user name
and password that you created earlier in the Creating Oracle table spaces for Rendition Engine section.
- Install the current patch set for your version of Oracle,
as specified in the IBM
FileNet P8 system requirements.
Follow the Oracle instructions that accompany the patch set.
