Many rows

Oftentimes, the decision about whether some optimization is required for a query depends on whether the query returns many rows. The phrase many rows as used in these tuning guidelines typically means several thousand rows or more.

Important: Subjective cutoffs apply as well. For example, the user response time can be a factor in the decision to optimize a search.
