Select an OLAP cube

Case Analyzer enables you to create reports about your case and workflow system in several areas, each defined by an OLAP cube. Each OLAP cube focuses on cases, tasks, workflows, or work items.

A case consists of one or more tasks, content, processes, and views. A task is a list of one or more items that need to be completed for a case. A case is not complete until all required tasks are completed.

A workflow is a single instance of a workflow definition. It consists of one or more work items. A work item is the smallest individual piece of a workflow. The term "work item" is often used interchangeably with "step," although steps involving more than one participant actually consist of several work items, one for each participant.

An administrative user can configure data from user-defined workflow and case fields to an appropriate cube. This enables you to view your business-specific data in the Case Analyzer reports, in addition to the general data in the preconfigured reports. See Manage Case Analyzer data for additional information and instructions.

To view information about cases, use one of these cubes:

Cube Use this cube to...
Case load View historical information about the number of cases in process during a specified time period.
Cases in progress View nearly up-to-the-moment information about all cases currently in progress in the system. The information includes the number of cases, processing times, and current status.

To view information about activities, use one of these cubes:

Task load View historical information about the number of tasks in process during a specified time period.
Tasks in progress View nearly up-to-the-moment information about all tasks currently in progress in the system. The information includes the number of tasks, processing times, and current status.

To view information about work items, use one of these cubes:

Queue load View historical information about the amount of work being done in each queue during a specified time period.
Work in progress View nearly up-to-the-moment information about all work currently in the system. The information includes the number of work items, processing times, and current status. You can break the information down by workflow or work item, and by user.
Work item processing time View historical information about processing time for work items during a specified time period. You can break the information down by user.
Routing View historical information about the number of work items going from a source step to a destination step. You can break the information down by user, time, and exposed user-defined fields.

To view information about workflows, use one of these cubes:
