Configuring SSL for a fixed content device

Content Platform Engine sends web requests to external storage devices to store and retrieve content. This communication can occur on both secure and nonsecure channels. You can configure the device to communicate over a secure connection by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.

About this task

Content Platform Engine acts as an SSL client when communicating over an SSL connection with a fixed content device. Content Platform Engine might require a certificate to communicate with the external device, depending on whether certificate validation has been enabled for that connection.

The following fixed content devices perform certificate validation:
  • Atmos - if the Certificate Validation Enabled property is true.
  • Isilon - if the Certificate Validation Enabled property is true.
  • Hitachi Content Platform

Certificate validation is always performed on WebLogic version 10.3.4 or later.

No certificate validation is performed on WebSphere or JBoss.
