Export to self-contained XPDL

Use Export to Self-Contained XPDL to incorporate external workflows referenced from a workflow in the collection. The purpose of this file is to provide a complete workflow collection for the business analyst to open in a BPMN application from another software vendor.

There are three types of external workflow information that are incorporated into the self-contained XPDL file:

A business analyst should not use this self-contained file to make updates and return to the workflow author (round trip) because any inheritance functionality, as well as the functional references to other workflows in the system, will be lost.

To export the current workflow collection to a self-contained XPDL file

  1. From the File menu, choose Export to Self-Contained XPDL.
  2. Specify a name and choose a location.

TIP This self-contained XPDL file is not a recommended technique for deploying workflow definitions to another system because the workflow inheritance functionality is lost.
