Process Simulator

IBM® FileNet® Process Simulator simulates workflows by performing "what-if" scenarios, providing business analysts with important information that helps streamline business processes. Process Simulator applications are tools for developing, running, and managing simulations of workflows.

The workflow administrator interacts with Process Simulator in these ways:

When a user runs a simulation, he sets the simulation life span—the length of time the simulation data remains available for use by the Simulation Animator. While there is no limitation on the maximum life span, each set of simulation data requires a significant amount of disk space on the Simulation Engine; the user's personal requirements and the limits of your Simulation Engine should be used to determine the optimum life span.

You can restart Process Simulator on the Simulation Engine to remove all existing simulation data and increase available disk space.

To start the simulation applications:

  1. On the Workplace page, click Tools > Advanced Tools.
  2. Select the application: Process Simulation Designer or Process Simulation Console.

If your computer does not have the appropriate Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) installed, you are prompted to download the JRE. This prompting occurs the first time that you run any of the Process Java applications such as Process Simulation Console. You must download the JRE only once.

  3. To start Simulation Animator, in Process Simulation Console on the Animator toolbar, click Run Animation to view the simulation.
