IBM FileNet Rendition Engine stops publishing after you change the user password

When you change the FNRE_Admin user password, you must also update the IBM® FileNet® Rendition Engine components to use the new password. If the IBM FileNet Rendition Engine components are not updated, the server stops publishing.

Symptoms

IBM FileNet Rendition Engine stops publishing and generates the following errors after you change the FNRE_Admin user password:
Error 1069: The service did not start due to a logon failure.
Error 5: Access is denied.

Causes

You changed the FNRE_Admin user password and did not update the IBM FileNet Rendition Engine components to reflect the password change.

Resolving the problem

To reset the IBM FileNet Rendition Engine components to use the updated password, complete the following steps for each IBM FileNet Rendition Engine server in your publishing domain.
  1. Configure the BusinessServiceServer Windows Service to start up using the password for the FNRE_Admin user
    1. Log on to your IBM FileNet Rendition Engine server as FNRE_Admin user.
    2. On the IBM FileNet Rendition Engine server, select Start > Administrative Tools > Services.
    3. Right-click BusinessServiceServer and select Properties.
    4. On the Log On tab, verify that the FNRE_Admin user is specified, then enter and confirm the new password.
Important: If you restart the server after this step, the BusinessServiceServer service issues the following error: Error 5: Access is denied.
  2. Reset the user password for the publishing components.
    1. Start Domain Manager. You receive the following expected message: Unable to successfully access a repository in this domain. Some functionality will not be available.
    2. Click OK.
    3. Click File > Show/Hide Rendering.
    4. In the Show Rendering window, verify that Hide rendering applications is selected and that the FNRE_Admin user is specified.
    5. Enter and confirm the new password and click OK. Domain Manager displays the following expected error: Unable to show/hide rendering.
    6. Click OK.
  3. Complete this step if you render AutoCAD files.
    1. In the Show Rendering window, select Show rendering applications.
    2. Click OK.
  4. Restart the server.
