Creating a publish template (DITA publishing)

Before you publish a DITA document, you must create a publish style template for PDF output.

Before you begin

Determine the folders that you will use for your source and published documents and for your publish templates. You can store all the documents in the same folder, or you can create folders for each purpose. For example, you might create the following folders:

Procedure

To create a PDF publish template:

  1. Open Publishing Designer:
    1. In the Workplace navigation pane, click Author > Advanced Tools > Publishing Designer.
    2. If you are asked if you want to run this application, click Run or Don't Block.
  2. Create the PDF style template:
    1. In Object Store to host publish operation using this template, select the object store to be used for publishing.
    2. Select the folder where you want the published PDF document to be stored.
    3. In the optional settings, select Use a Style Template to transform the content and select the Default PDF Style Template template.
    4. Click Add New to start the Add a new template wizard.
    5. Select the folder where you want to store the publish template. Click Next.
    6. Optionally enter a title and description and complete the wizard.
  3. Exit Publishing Designer.
