FileNet P8 Rendition Engine, Version 5.2            Operating systems:  Windows

Preparing Oracle server for Rendition Engine

The Oracle relational database can be configured either on the Rendition Engine server or on a separate, remote server.

If you plan to collocate the IBM® FileNet® Rendition Engine database with Content Platform Engine, you can use an existing Oracle database.

You do not need to create table spaces during the Oracle installation. The table spaces are created later in a separate section.

A database is local if it is on the same server where Rendition Engine is installed. A database is remote if it is on a different server than the Rendition Engine software.
Important: In a high availability environment, install the relational database on a remote server that is available to all Rendition Engine servers and use the SCAN name instead of the Oracle SID for the connection.

To prepare for the Oracle software installation:

  1. See System requirements: Hardware and software requirements for IBM FileNet P8 for operating system, service pack, Oracle version, and Oracle patch set requirements.
  2. Verify that you have the appropriate Oracle installation media.
  3. Download the latest Oracle patch set for your version of Oracle from the Oracle website.
  4. If you plan to configure the Oracle relational database for Rendition Engine on the Rendition Engine server, download the Oracle Instant Client Package - Basic. The Oracle Instant Client for Microsoft Windows (32-bit) is available on the Oracle website.
