NetApp Snaplock fixed content device

An IBM® FileNet® P8 fixed storage area can use NetApp SnapLock as the fixed content device for storing object content files. The content can belong to documents from different object stores. In addition, the object stores can belong to different IBM FileNet P8 domains.

The Content Platform Engine component that migrates the content element files to the NetApp SnapLock device is the fixed content provider (FCP). The FCP creates a file on the Snaplock device and writes data to the file as if the device were a standard file system. When you check in an object, the FCP stores each content element of that object as a separate file on the SnapLock device.

The content files on the NetApp SnapLock device are stored in a directory tree. When you create the fixed storage area, you select a structure for the directory tree on the NetApp SnapLock device. This directory tree stores content files in a manner similar to a FileNet P8 file storage area.

For information about the procedure to create the fixed storage area, see Creating a fixed content device object (NetApp SnapLock).
