Moving content from an external repository

You can move content from an external repository to a local storage area in the Content Platform Engine object store. When content is moved to an object store, it is deleted from the external repository at the same time.

Federated documents differ from moved documents in that the content for a federated document remains in an external repository and the content of a moved document is stored in the object store under the control of the Content Platform Engine server.

Document content can be moved to database storage areas and file storage areas. In addition, document content can be moved to fixed storage areas that use any of the following fixed content device types:

Important: If annotations are attached to the source repository documents, the annotations are deleted along with the source when the document is moved. But the source annotations are not moved to the Content Platform Engine object store.
