IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Configuring import agents

Import agents must be enabled to allow federation. You can increase or decrease the number of import agents to optimize system performance.

About this task

More import agents can improve throughput. However, more import agents also require greater system and network resources and can result in a reduction of overall throughput. Fewer import agents require less system resources but might not be able to efficiently process the flow of catalog data.

Important: Do not modify any values unless an IBM® support representative specifically instructs you to do so. Improper modification of a value can adversely affect system performance.

Procedure

To enable or change the number of import agents per object store on the Content Platform Engine server:

  1. Access the import agent subsystem properties in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the server hierarchy object. For example, if you want to access the subsystem properties at the site level, expand the Sites folder and click a site.
    2. In the details pane, click the CFS Import Agent Subsystem tab.
  2. Ensure that the Enable dispatcher check box is selected. This option must be enabled to start the import agents and allow federation.
  3. Enter values for the remaining parameters. The new values automatically take effect.
Important: Content Federation Services for Content Manager OnDemand uses the old settings to complete any batch that was in process before the changes were saved. The import agent processes subsequent batches with the new values.
