You can change the values of data fields of an active work
item. Changes that are made in Step view affect all underlying participant
work items in the step. Changes that are made in Participants view
affect only the selected work item.
If you view by step and the step has multiple participants
(work items), the values that display in the Fields table depend on
the values of all of the underlying work items.
- If a field has the same value for all work items, the value is
displayed.
- If the value varies from one work item to another, "<various
values>" is displayed in the field.
You can view by participant for access to the values from
each participant. See the topic on displaying field values from multiple
work items for more information about values that are displayed from
multiple work items.
To edit data fields in place:
- Select the work you want to modify.
- Select the Fields tab.
- Select the field you want to work with. If the field is
an array, you can click the pointer in the left-most column to expand
the array.
Tip: For array fields in which
the displayed value is "<various values>" (indicating that there
are multiple work items), you cannot expand the values. Continue with
the next step.
- Double-click in the Value column
of the field that you want to change. For values that
cannot be edited in place, the Edit Array Fields window
is displayed.
- Enter your changes, then click Save All Changes on
the toolbar.
- When you are done updating the work items, you can unlock
them, or leave them locked in order to perform other tasks.
Tip: When you exit, Process Tracker prompts you to unlock any
workflows you have left locked.
