Carefully review the information provided to plan your Rendition Engine upgrade before you start
the upgrade.
Information for upgrading the IBM®
FileNet® Rendition Engine from the 4.5.0, 4.5.1,
5.0.0, or 5.1.0 release to the 5.2.0 release is covered in this topic.
The upgrade involves uninstalling and reinstalling the software.
If you are upgrading your FileNet P8 components from version
5.2.0 to 5.2.1, you do not need to upgrade Rendition Engine, which stays at version
5.2.0.
- Rendition Engine is installed
on the existing Rendition Engine servers.
- If
you are upgrading your FileNet P8 components
from version 5.2.0 to 5.2.1, you need to upgrade Rendition Engine
to 5.2.0 fix pack 1.
- Rendition Engine 5.2.0 does
not use the publishing plug-in. This component is uninstalled as part
of the Content Platform Engine upgrade.
- Read the "What's New" topic in the IBM
FileNet P8 Release Notes. Many of the
new features might apply to your implementation of the FileNet P8 Platform.
- Make sure that restorable backups of system and data exists for
your site, in case you need to back out of the upgrade. For details
on what to back up for FileNet P8 components,
see FileNet P8 domain backup
and recovery.
- Plan and test the upgrade on a test system first. Verify the upgrade
is successful by running functionality and stress tests. After successful
verification, perform the production upgrade.
