Rule scheduling

You can schedule rule processing for multiple rules or you can schedule each rule independently by overwriting the default schedule.

Scheduling option Description
Default Schedule You can specify the parameters for the default configuration. New rules are assigned this configuration; however, you can select any rule and apply a different schedule to it.
Manual Launch Start the federation by clicking Launch. You can use this option regardless of the schedule that is set for the rule. However, if a custom range is set for a rule and the launch action is selected, the rule is not launched until the Start time of the next range is reached.
Continuous Processing Specify continuous federation. Enter the number of minutes of sleep time that is to pass between federations. This time allows efficient processing of rules when the number of changes in the source repository (for example, creations and updates) is not high.

To process the rule immediately, even if the sleep period is not complete, click Launch.

Custom Ranges Enter the start and stop times for the range. Rule processing starts automatically at the start time and stops at the stop time. You can ensure that the system has some time when it is not federating documents by creating custom ranges for all your rules.
  • If the federation of a rule is complete when the start time of the next range is reached, a new federation is launched for the rule.
  • If the federation of a rule is not complete when the stop time of the current range is reached, the federation is suspended and then resumed when the start time of the next range is reached.
  • If you manually launch a federation outside the custom range set for the rule, the rule is not launched. It is launched at the start time of the next range.

Only one federation of a rule can occur per range. A federation of a rule can span two or more ranges.

Swap (reverse) the start and stop times for a range by clicking the Swap link.

Click Add to create a range or Remove to delete a range.

Click Apply to submit a change to a rule, or click Reset to return to the previous settings.

The graph shows the time period that a rule is federated and the period that no federation occurs. See the legend to understand how the periods are displayed.
