Enable Content Manager OnDemand application groups to allow document
federation.
Procedure
To enable application groups for federation:
- Open the Content Manager OnDemand administrative client and log in to the
repository.
- Select an application group to enable for federation:
- To modify an existing application group, click Application Groups,
right-click an application group, and click Update.
- To enable document federation for a new application group, right-click
Application Group and click New Application
Group.
- On the General tab, click Advanced.
- In the Interoperate with FileNet P8 section, select
Yes for the Use Content Federation Services (CFS-OD)
option. If you select the Federate Documents Automatically check box, the
Content Manager OnDemand server generates the information that is needed to
federate documents to Content Platform Engine when documents are loaded to
the application group. This option has no effect on existing Content Manager OnDemand documents in the application group. It applies only to new documents that are loaded for the
application group.
Tip: Regardless of whether this option is selected, documents can be
manually selected for federation by running a search from one of the Content Manager OnDemand client applications and selecting documents from the search
results.
If you also select the Enable FileNet Records Manager to records
declare automatically check box, the Content Manager OnDemand server
assumes that any documents that are federated into Content Platform Engine
are to be declared as records by using IBM® Enterprise Records. Content Manager OnDemand automatically locks down these documents by using a Content Manager OnDemand retention hold to prevent the documents from expiring. If you do
not select this check box, the documents that are federated into Content Platform Engine are subject to Content Manager OnDemand
expiration policies before they are declared as a record in IBM Enterprise Records.
Tip: Regardless of whether this option is
selected, federated documents are not automatically declared as records by IBM Enterprise Records. You need to use IBM Enterprise Records to
declare federated Content Manager OnDemand documents as records, which puts the
source Content Manager OnDemand documents under the control of IBM Enterprise Records.
- Click the Field Definition tab and add a database field. Enter a name
for the field and click Add.
- Click the Field Information tab and select the newly created database
field from the Name list.
- In the Type list, select Filter.
- In the Data Type list, select Small Int
(2).
- Select the CFS-OD box.
- Configure the application group permissions to specify which
users can federate documents.
- After you finish updating or creating the application group, click
OK.
Important: An application group that is enabled for document federation must not be
deleted from Content Manager OnDemand. Deleting the application group breaks the
link between the federated documents in Content Platform Engine and the
content that is stored in Content Manager OnDemand, making the Content Platform Engine documents unusable.
