You can use Case Analyzer to analyze case and business processes. Case Analyzer collects events from the Content Platform Engine event logs and, if Content Platform Engine is integrated with IBM® Case Manager, the audit log, and generates chart-based statistical reports from active case and workflow data, as well as historical data.
The following diagram shows how data flows from the Content Platform Engine event and audit logs to the Case Analyzer store and Case Analyzer OLAP database.
The Case Analyzer services in the Content Platform Engine server retrieve events from the Content Platform Engine event logs and audit log. Publisher tasks process events from the logs and publish the analytical results to the Case Analyzer store. You can configure the number of threads to be available to run tasks. At the end of the publishing interval, the fact tables in the Case Analyzer store are updated with the raw statistical data from the processed events.
Case Analyzer services can be configured to use OLAP (online analytical processing) technology for fast analysis of multidimensional information. You can drill down from a summary view to details and interactively explore case and business process data from different perspectives. To implement this optional OLAP integration, the Case Analyzer store must be hosted on a Microsoft SQL Server database.
If OLAP integration is enabled, the Content Platform Engine calls the Case Analyzer SSAS Connector to perform cube processing. The Case Analyzer SSAS Connector acts as a proxy to communicate with the Microsoft SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS). Cube processing builds the OLAP cubes, which are stored in the Case Analyzer OLAP database and used for Cognos® Business Intelligence reports or Microsoft Excel charts.
