Configuring Microsoft Visio for publishing

To publish Visio documents to PDF, install Microsoft Visio and configure it to run without user intervention in your Rendition Engine environment.

Restriction: Start of changeTo publish with Microsoft Visio 2013, the Rendition Engine server must be running Windows Server 2012 R2 and Rendition Engine 5.2.0.2-P8RE-FP002 or later.End of change

To configure Microsoft Visio:

  1. Configure Microsoft Visio 2007:
    1. In Microsoft Visio, navigate to Tools > Options.
    2. Click the Save/Open tab and clear the following options:
      • Prompt for document settings on first save
      • Show file save warnings
      • Show file open warnings
    3. Click the General tab and click Service Options, and then complete the following steps:.
      1. In the left pane, select Customer Feedback Options.
      2. Under Customer Experience Improvement Program, select No, I don't wish to participate.
      3. Click OK.
    4. Navigate to Tools > Spelling > Spelling Options and complete the following steps:
      1. Clear Check spelling as you type.
      2. Select Ignore words with numbers.
      3. Click OK.
      Tip: If a file is not open in Visio, select File > New > New Drawing to open a new blank file to make the Spelling Options selection available.
  2. Configure Microsoft Visio 2010:
    1. In Microsoft Visio, select the File tab and click Options.
    2. Select the Save tab and clear the Prompt for document properties on first save option.
    3. Click the Advanced tab and clear the following Save/Open options.
      • Show file save warnings
      • Show file open warnings
    4. Select the Proofing tab.
      • Under When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs, select Ignore words that contain numbers.
      • Under When correcting spelling in Visio, clear Check spelling as you type.
  3. Configure Microsoft Visio 2013:
    1. In Microsoft Visio, select the File tab and click Options.
    2. Select the Save tab and clear the following options:
      • Prompt for document properties on first save
      • Save AutoRecover information every
    3. Click the Advanced tab and clear the following Save/Open options.
      • Show file save warnings
      • Show file open warnings
    4. Select the Proofing tab.
      • Under When correcting spelling in Microsoft Office programs, select the following options: .
        1. Ignore words in UPPERCASE
        2. Ignore words that contain numbers
        3. Ignore internet and file addresses
      • Under When correcting spelling in Visio, clear Check spelling as you type.
  4. Select Trust Center.
    1. Under Microsoft Visio Trust Center, click Trust Center Settings.
    2. (Visio 2007, Visio 2010) Click Add-ins and select Disable all Application Add-ins (may impair functionality).
    3. (Visio 2013) Click ActiveX Settings.
      • Select Enable all controls without restrictions and without prompting.
      • Clear Safe mode.
    4. (Visio 2013) Click Macro Settings.
      • Under the Macro Settings section select Enable all macros.
      • Under Developer Macro Settings select Trust access to the VBA Visio object model.
    5. (Visio 2013) Click Message Bar and select Never show information about blocked content.
    6. (Visio 2013) Click File Block Setting and clear each file type under Open and Save.
    7. (Visio 2007, Visio 2010) Click Privacy Options and clear Sign up for the Customer Experience Improvement Program.
    8. (Visio 2013) Click Privacy Options and clear all privacy options.
    9. Click OK to save and close Microsoft Visio Trust Center.
  5. Click OK to save and close Visio Options.
