Content Platform Engine sends web requests to external storage devices to store and retrieve content. This communication can occur on both secure and nonsecure channels. You can configure the device to communicate over a secure connection by using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol.
Content Platform Engine acts as an SSL client when it communicates over an SSL connection with an advanced storage device. Content Platform Engine might require a certificate to communicate with the external device, depending on whether certificate validation is enabled for that connection.
An OpenStack advanced storage device performs certificate validation if the device is configured for certificate validation. That is, in the Configuration tab for the advanced storage device, the Certificate Validation Enabled property is true.
