Use the Complete Work window to complete a work item for
someone else without opening the step processor. You can also use
the Complete Work window to complete multiple work items for the same
step at the same time.
During normal work item processing, work items are locked,
modified, and dispatched to the next step. This normal flow of operation
does not require system administrator interaction. See About managing
workflows for more information.
Tip: Use this option to
complete work when you have several work items to process. If you
are processing only one work item, you can alternatively use the Open
Step Processor or Open Tracker option
on the toolbar.
In some cases, it might be necessary
to complete work on behalf of another participant. Before doing so,
you must manually perform the actions required to complete the workflow
step, such as entering data values or identifying attachments or workflow
group participants.
If the work requires a response, you must
select one of the available responses.
Tip: When an error
has occurred and a work item is in the Conductor queue, you can sometimes
fix the problem by changing data values (for example, to fix a divide
by 0 problem) or specifying missing participants for a step. After
you save the changes, click Complete work to
complete the Review step and the processing to continue.
Important: Modifying a work item in the Delay and InstructionSheetInterpreter
system queues can have unexpected consequences. Do so only if directed
by your support representative. In addition, you cannot edit fields
in the CE_Operations component queue. You cannot complete a work item
in the Delay system queue if it is the parent of a child work item.
In this case, you can terminate or delete it.
