Creating database indexes for class properties

To optimize the performance of those queries that search a class property, create an index for the property in the object store database.

Important: The addition of each new database index increases the time that Content Platform Engine takes to add documents to an object store. A performance trade-off therefore exists between adding documents and running queries. For this reason, create a database index only for a property that you search frequently.

In addition to the topics listed below, you'll find several index-related topics in Performance tuning IBM FileNet P8 components. See Tuning database indexes and Indexing Content Platform Engine databases. This set of topics provides indexing guidelines, such as for creating indexes and ensuring index use in a query. The topics also include index tuning advice for specific types of searches, such as a list property search or a case-insensitive search.
