Configuring Content Services

To configure Content Services as a source repository for content federation, configure the maximum cache size and the maximum cache document.

About this task

Procedure

To configure Content Services for content federation:

  1. On the IDM web server, run the Content Services configure tool.
  2. Click Additional Preferences.
  3. Expand Directories and Files > Local Caching.
  4. Set the Delete cache on logoff field to No.
  5. Set the Maximum cache size (MB) field to approximately 75% of the median of the total size of your data.

Lower the maximum cache size to a low enough value so that it is exceeded before the total number of files in the cache limit is reached. If the local cache exceeds the maximum cache size, the documents that constitute the local cache are removed, beginning with the oldest cached document to the most recent cached document. Removal of the cached documents ceases when the local cache size no longer exceeds the maximum cache size.

  6. Set the Maximum cached documents (K) field to 100. The maximum cached documents size does not affect cache size. The maximum cached documents size establishes the size of the data maps that help the management of the local cache. For example, the maximum cached documents size is used to determine the amount of memory to allocate for the data maps or the number or records the data maps can hold. If the number of documents in the local cache exceeds the maximum cached documents size, an error is generated and cache size is not affected.
