On the Windows server, you must install .NET and
File and Storage Services as Application Server role services to provide key infrastructure and
service to the Rendition Engine server application.
To install the Application Server role:
- Click . Navigate to .
- Determine whether the required roles and features are installed on this server:

In the Roles Summary section, look for Application

Windows 2012 |
In the Roles Summary section, look for Application
Server and File and Storage Services. |
- If neither service is displayed, proceed to the next step.
- If both of these services are displayed, close Server Manager and proceed
to the next configuration task.
- Add the required roles:

- In the Roles Summary section, click Add
Roles.
- If the Before you begin page is displayed, click
Next.
- Select Application Server. If you are prompted to add required features,
click Add Required Features. Click Next.
- Click Next at the following pages until you reach the
Confirmation page.
- Click Install.

Windows 2012 |
 - In the Roles and Features group, click .
- If the Before you begin page is displayed, click
Next.
- On the Select installation type page, select Role-base or
feature-based installation, and click Next.
- On the Select destination server page, select Select a server
from the server pool. Select a server from the Server Pool list,
and click Next.
- On the Select server roles page, select Application
Server and File And Storage Services, and click
Next.
- On the Select features page, select .NET Framework 3.5
Features and WoW64 Support, and click
Next.
- On the Application Server page, click Next.
- On the Select role services page, select the Windows Process Activation
Service Support role service and all role services under it. If you are prompted to add
required features, select Include management tools and click Add
features. Click Next.
- On the Web Server Role (IIS) page, click Next.
- On the Select role services page, accept the defaults and click
Next.
- On the Confirmation installation selections page, select
Restart the destination server automatically if required.
- Click Install.
