Creating an advanced file system storage device

An advanced file system storage device connects to and supports the features in an advanced storage area.

Before you begin

Before you create an advanced file storage device, you must create a shared directory on a Windows or UNIX server with appropriate security settings. For more information, see Storage area security.

Procedure

To create a file system storage device:

  1. Create a shared directory on a Windows or UNIX server and assign appropriate security privileges to the directory. The directory that you create becomes the root directory of the advanced file system storage device. For information about the privileges to assign, see Storage area security.
  2. Start the New File System Storage Device wizard in the administration console:
    1. In the tree view, click the Object Store > object store name to open the object store that uses the device.
    2. In the object store tree view, right-click the Administrative > Storage > Advanced Storage > Advanced Storage Devices folder and click New File System Storage Device.
  3. Complete the wizard.
