When an object is indexed or reindexed, the index entry for the object is assigned to a full-text index within an index area. The assigned index area always belongs to the same object store as the object.
An object is indexed for the first time in the following circumstances:
An object is reindexed when you manually submit an index job for one of the following items:
When an object is indexed or reindexed, the index entry for the object is changed in one of the following ways:
Deleted | The index entry is deleted if the object no longer belongs to a CBR-enabled class or if the object has no indexable text. |
---|---|
Created | If an index entry does not currently exist, one is created if the object has indexable text. The index entry is created as part of full-text index with a resource status of OPEN. This index might be either an existing or newly created index. This index belongs to an index area that is randomly selected from among those areas with a resource status of OPEN. |
Moved | The existing index entry is moved to another
full-text index in the following circumstances:
Also, for efficiency reasons, some index jobs replace an existing full-text index with a new index. All of the index entries in the existing index are moved to the new index. The existing index entries are not deleted individually; they are deleted when the existing full-text index is deleted. The index entry is moved to a full-text index with a resource status of OPEN. This index is either an existing or newly created index. This index belongs to the current index area if this area has a resource status of OPEN. Otherwise, the index belongs to an index area that is randomly selected from among those areas with a resource status of OPEN. |
Updated | If the index entry is not deleted, created, or moved, it is updated in the current full-text index. |
