You can upgrade IBM® FileNet® Content Federation Services for Image Services servers to the current release at different times. For example, you can upgrade Content Platform Engine on one weekend and upgrade FileNet Image Services the next weekend. However, the bidirectional replication is not complete until all servers are upgraded to the current release.
You can configure bidirectional synchronization on your IBM FileNet Content Federation Services for Image Services system after you upgrade to Content Platform Engine 5.2.0 or later and FileNet Image Services 4.2. After the upgrade is complete, review the property mappings for all Content Platform Engine and FileNet Image Services document classes. For bidirectional synchronization, the mapped properties on each system must be of the same types.
By default, bidirectional replication is turned on for all upgrades. If you do not want bidirectional replication in your upgraded system, you must manually disable the feature.
If you upgrade from an earlier release that is uses unidirectional replication, you might want to temporarily disable bidirectional replication before you upgrade. On the Java™ startup command line for the application server, enter -Dcom.filenet.replication.DisableISBiDi=true or add the line com.filenet.replication.DisableISBiDi=true to the FileNet.properties file.
