Turning off user access control

You must turn off user access control so the Rendition Engine server can run without user intervention. With user access control turned on, local administrator users are treated like regular users with no administrative privileges.

To turn off user access control:

  1. Complete the appropriate step:
    Option Description
    Windows 2008
    1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > System Configuration.
    2. Make the following selections:
      1. Select the Tools tab, scroll down, and select Disable UAC/Disable User Access Control (requires reboot).
      2. Click Launch, and then close the command prompt window.
    3. Click OK to close the System Configuration window.
    Windows 2008 R2
    1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > System Configuration.
    2. Make the following selections:
      1. Select the Tools tab, scroll down, and select Change UAC Settings/Change User Account Control settings.
      2. Click Launch, and drag the slider to Never notify and click OK.
    3. Click OK to close the System Configuration window.

    1. Click Start > Administrative Tools > Local Security Policy.
    2. Navigate to Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options.
    3. Double-click the User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode policy and select Disabled.
    4. Close the Local Security Policy window.

  2. Restart the server.
