An advanced storage area connects to one or more advanced storage devices to provide high
availability content storage and disaster recovery for an object store.
Before you begin
You must configure all the advanced storage devices for an advanced storage area before
you create the advanced storage area. You can delete advanced storage devices from the advanced
storage area, but you cannot add advanced storage devices after the advanced storage area is
created.
Procedure
To create an advanced storage area:
- Configure the devices. Create and configure the OpenStack cloud storage or advanced file system storage devices
by using tools that are supplied by your cloud storage provider or the software vendor. You are
responsible for the necessary installation, network connectivity, and administration to make an
advanced storage device available to the servers in the FileNet® P8 domain. For information on security for the devices, see
OpenStack cloud storage
security and File
system device directory security.
- Create each advanced storage device. Run the
appropriate wizard in the administration console to create each advanced
storage device. See Creating an OpenStack storage device or Creating
a file system storage device.
- Create the storage area. Run the New Advanced
Storage Area wizard in the administration console to create a storage
area that uses one or more advanced storage devices. See Creating an advanced storage area.
Tip: An advanced storage device can be shared by multiple advanced
storage areas within an object store. It can be convenient to use
shared storage devices, but careful planning is required. If you decide
to share advanced storage devices, consider the shared devices when
you define the default storage for classes, perform backups, design
disaster recovery scenarios, and so on.
