You can improve the performance of Case Analyzer by tuning the Case Analyzer settings and tuning the Case Analyzer database.
Case Analyzer uses multiple threads to publish event data. Case Analyzer can process and publish data to multiple Case Analyzer stores.
On a multiple processor system, increasing the number of event exporter threads can improve the publishing rate. Ensure that the following conditions are met.
A low cache hit ratio can affect the publishing rate. If the cache-hit ratio is low (that is, 50%), increase the size of the corresponding cache until the ratio improves or until the memory limit is reached. You can increase the number of rows that are maintained in cache for each dimension and fact table. Set the number of rows through the Case Analyzer dimension cache size and the Case Analyzer fact cache size fields in the Workflow system tab of the IBM® Administration Console for Content Platform Engine.
Case Analyzer monitors and tracks the average time for updating the Case Analyzer database, processing the work in progress cube. Case Analyzer updates the database and processes the work in progress cubes at the end of every publishing interval. The default publishing interval is every 5 minutes. If any of these three operations takes longer than 1 minute, monitor the Case Analyzer database and tune it as necessary.
The processing of historical cubes can take a long time (hours). Configure the historical cube processing to occur at the earliest off-hour time to allow sufficient time to process the cubes. The default processing time for the historical cubes is 11:00 PM.
If the historical cube processing takes a long time, consider upgrading your disk hardware or reduce the size of the historical fact tables by using the Case Analyzer compression wizard.
In general, Case Analyzer processes events for the amount of time that is specified in the publishing interval. The default publishing interval is every 5 minutes. After the publishing interval is reached, Case Analyzer spends time to update the Case Analyzer database and processing the work in progress cubes. When the updating and processing completes, Case Analyzer switches back to the event-processing mode and the process repeats.
If Case Analyzer has a large backlog of events to process and you have already tried the other performance tuning options, consider increasing the publishing interval to give Case Analyzer more time to process events.
