Assigning properties to a class

The property template you create exists independently of any class, but has no purpose until it is assigned to a class. You can assign a property template to one or more classes in an object store, at which time it becomes a class property. When you assign a property template to a superclass, it is automatically added to all of the superclass' subclasses. The property template exists independently of the class property, and you can assign it to other classes in the object store.

About this task

You assign properties to a class when you create that class using the Create a Class wizard. After the class is created, you can assign properties to a class.

Procedure

To assign a property template to a class:

  1. In the administration console, click the target class.
  2. Click the Property Definitions tab.
  3. Click Add.
  4. Select the property template from the Add Properties dialog box, and click OK. The property template appears as a class property.
  5. Click Save when done.
