IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Deleting an advanced storage area

You can delete an advanced storage area when it is no longer needed.

About this task

You can delete an advanced storage area under the following conditions:
  • All FileNet® P8 documents and annotations that have content stored in the advanced storage area have been deleted or the content of the documents and annotations has been moved to a different storage area.
  • The advanced storage area is not the default storage area for a class.
  • The storage area is not assigned to the default storage policy for a class.

The entry for a deleted storage area is automatically removed from the object store. The deleted storage area is no longer available.

Important: Deleting a storage area is an irreversible operation. Specifically, the deletion breaks the association between the content in the storage area and objects that own that content (such as documents and annotations). The content in the deleted storage area becomes irreversibly inaccessible.

Procedure

To delete an advanced storage area:

  1. Remove all FileNet P8 content from the advanced storage devices that are associated with the advanced storage area. For example, use a search to identify the documents and annotations in the advanced storage area, and then delete the documents and annotations or move the content of the documents and annotations to a different storage area..
  2. Remove the advanced storage area from any storage policy that references the area.
  3. Update any document or annotation classes that use the advanced area as the default storage location. Change the classes to use a different storage area as the default.
  4. In the administration console, select the Advanced Storage Areas folder in a specific object store or site that contains the storage area:
    1. In the object store navigation pane, click the Administrative > Advanced Storage Areas folder.
    2. Click the advanced storage area that you want to delete.
  5. From the Actions menu, click Delete Advanced Storage Area.
