As a workflow administrator, you must perform a variety of
tasks to configure the workflow system
Creating a workflow system
To create a workflow system, you define an isolated region
and its connection point. In addition, you can optionally customize
the database storage parameters and configure email notification.
Managing case history stores
A case history store is typically created and managed by a client application such as
IBM® Case Manager. If necessary, you can use the administration console
to view and delete case history stores.
Managing the workflow system
The workflow system is an infrastructure that you configure
and use to maintain system-wide options. For example, you can define
a web application as a step processor or specify system-wide settings
that determine the features that are available for the workflow system.
Enabling email notification for workflow activity
You can optionally enable email notification of workflow activity. Individual users can
configure which notifications they want to receive and their preferred locale. For example, users
can choose to be notified when work is assigned or when work approaches or passes a deadline. Users
who are assigned as a workflow tracker can be notified when the workflow is assigned to others, when
it approaches or passes a deadline, and when exceptions occur.
Component Integrator configuration
You use Component Integrator to interact with an external entity, or component, from a
workflow step. For example, a component can be a Java™ object
or Java Message Service object.
Rules Connectivity Framework configuration
You can use the Rules Connectivity Framework to implement business rules for workflows.
These rules can be simple or complex and can perform a variety of actions, such as performing
conditional tests, setting values in data fields, or sending a work item to a submap or exception
map.
