Fixed storage areas
A fixed storage area is an external (non-FileNet® P8) fixed content system that provides storage and data retention.
Advanced storage areas
An advanced storage area provides
high availability content storage and disaster recovery through use
of replication and replica repair.
Replication
Advanced storage areas are designed
to be flexible enough to support a wide variety of replication models,
including the common modes for high availability and disaster recovery.
Creating an advanced storage area
An advanced storage area connects to one or more advanced storage devices to provide high
availability content storage and disaster recovery for an object store.
Configuring replication site settings
A storage device has a replication synchronization type of primary, secondary, or
asynchronous, depending on how it is configured in the storage device connection of an advanced
storage area. However, you can override the replication synchronization type of the device with
site-specific settings. For example, a FileNet P8 deployment with
two sites might use a storage device as a primary device in site A and as an asynchronous device in
site B.
Advanced storage devices
An advanced storage device is one that can be associated with an
advanced storage area. OpenStack-conformant cloud storage and file
system storage are advanced storage devices.
Creating a storage area
Use the New Storage Area wizard to create a file storage
area or a fixed storage area.
Moving content between storage areas
Use a job sweep or sweep policy to move content for large numbers
of documents and annotations from one storage area to another.
