IBM FileNet P8, Version 5.2.1

Migrating and deploying applications

A FileNet® P8 system can include a number of custom applications to enhance the base functionality of the system. These applications are migrated and deployed to different environments throughout the lifecycle of the application.

Applications are typically developed in one environment, and then tested in another before finally being put into production use. The process of moving an application from one environment to the next involves migrating the application's code, definition data, and its related assets to a different environment. When you deploy the application, you make the application operational in that next environment.

Several types of assets must be exported from the development environment and imported into the destination environment. Some assets, such as class definitions and property templates, are usable immediately after migration. Other assets, like workflow definitions, must be deployed to become usable. After migration, the various assets are combined to re-create the application in the destination environment.
