IBM® Content Search Services index files contain snippets of document content and other document information. Depending on your security requirements, you might want to prevent or restrict access to the IBM Content Search Services server and these index files.
Make sure that the file system directory in which the index files are stored (by default, CSS_Home\config\collections) has at least the same level of security as the repository in which your documents are stored. If access to your repository is restricted, ensure that your index files have at least the same level of restrictions.
Communication between the IBM Content Search Services client and server is not inherently secure. Therefore, you should consider using SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) to secure IBM Content Search Services data sent over the network.
Setting up TCP access restriction to the IBM Content Search Services server ensures that the server can only be accessed by the computer on which the client is installed.
