Query optimization: Maintain ratio to full-text indexes for search worker threads

To optimize CBR query performance, configure enough search worker threads for each query. The correct number of search worker threads is especially important for CBR queries that typically search more than 10 full-text indexes.

For a search server, review the following items:
Item Guideline Parameter
Search worker threads

Set the number of search worker threads in accordance with the following calculation: full-text indexes / search servers.

For example, suppose the following circumstances:
  • Number of full-text indexes: 40
  • Number of search servers: 4

Because 40 / 4 equals 10, you set the number of search worker threads to 10.

The number of search worker threads that IBM® Content Search Services uses for a query is the smallest number for the following items:

Important: Do not alter the value of this parameter unless instructed to do so by a support representative from IBM Software Support.
