Atmos fixed content device

A Content Platform Engine fixed storage area can use Atmos as the fixed content device for storing content files. The content can belong to documents from different object stores. In addition, the object stores can belong to different FileNet® domains.

Each content element of a document that is checked into Atmos fixed storage area is stored as a separate Atmos object. The content object identifier is assigned by Atmos at creation time. There is one identifier for each content element.

Setting up a fixed storage area to use Atmos requires configuration of the Atmos device, plus creation and configuration of the fixed storage area that is pointing to the Atmos device. In particular, if you want to use the Atmos retention feature, you must configure the device to support retention. Then, on the fixed storage device, you must set the CmDeviceRetentionMode and ResourceString properties. The CmDeviceRetentionMode property must be set to strict alignment (retention that is enforced by both Content Platform Engine and the fixed content device). The ResourceString property must be set to Atmos-specific information.

For the Atmos fixed content device, the ResourceString property consists of key/value pairs that are applied as metadata to any object created in the Atmos device, or at any time the retention is updated. Applying the metadata triggers the Atmos device to assign a retention policy on stored objects. For the assignment to work, Atmos must be configured to assign a particular policy that is based on the metadata in the ResourceString property.
