Deleting an index request

Delete an index request to prevent Content Platform Engine from attempting to index the text for an object. Typically, you delete an index request in rare circumstances to prevent Content Platform Engine from continuing to retry a request for a system-related indexing failure. For example, suppose that system-related problems prevent any IBM® Content Search Services servers from being available and these problems are not expected to be resolved soon. You might want to delete index requests rather than have Content Platform Engine continue to retry them indefinitely.

About this task

Attention: If you delete a request for an object with unindexed text, the text remains unindexed until you create an index job that encompasses the object text.

Procedure

To delete an index request

  1. Listing index requests.
  2. Select the index request.
  3. Note the object identifier that is shown in the ID column so that you can index the object later. (No other means exists for identifying those objects for which index requests have been deleted and whose text remains unindexed.)
  4. Click Delete Requests.
  5. Confirm that you want to delete the index request.
