Propagating class properties

When a property definition of a class is modified or removed, you can choose to propagate the changed properties immediately or at a later time. Property definitions that are added are automatically inherited by the subclasses.

About this task

If you postponed the propagation of changed properties to a later time, you can use the Propagate Metadata Changes window to perform this task. The Propagate Metadata Changes window lists the custom properties of the class and its superclasses. From that list, you can select the properties that you want propagated to subclasses.

Procedure

To propagate metadata changes to subclasses:

  1. In the administration console, click the target class:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, click the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click Data Design > Classes.
    3. Click the class that you want to modify.
  2. Click the Property Definitions tab.
  3. Click Propagate.
  4. Select the changed property definitions that you want propagated to the subclasses.
  5. Click OK.
