Configuring and managing Rules Listener

You use several tools to manage the Rules Listener.

To use the Process Task Manager to manage the Rules Listener, you must install the Rules Listener and the Process Task Manager on the same system.

  1. Configure and manage the Rules Listener with Process Task Manager:

In this procedure, it is assumed that Rules Listener and Process Task Manager are installed on the same system. To set the general properties for Process Task Manager to manage Rules Listener, open the General tab in Process Task Manager and complete the following steps:

    1. Select the Rules Listener folder and edit the appropriate fields.
      Table 1. Rules Listener settings
      Name Description
Port The Java™ Remote Method Invocation (RMI) port the Rules Listener uses. The default port is 32774. The port you enter must match the Rules Listener port you specify in Configuring other server connections.
Property file The location of the vendor-specific rules listener properties file.
Classpath The Java classpath that is passed to Rules Listener when it is started.
JRE parameters Java Runtime Environment (JRE) parameters that are passed to Rules Listener when it is started. Use this to customize JRE for your environment.
    2. To enable automatic startup of this process when Rules Listener is restarted, select the Automatically started (Windows) or Allow automatic startup from command line (UNIX) checkbox.
    3. Click Apply when done.
  2. Configure and manage Rules Listener without Process Task Manager

If you do not have Process Task Manager installed on the same system as Rules Listener, you can manage the listener by using the sample script. The following sample script is located in the product installation directory and is called: rundaemon.bat for Windows, or rundaemon.sh for UNIX. You can use the script to start and stop Rules Listener. You can also modify the script to manage Rules Listener as you require.

  3. Configure the Content Platform Engine server connection to Rules Listener
Content Platform Engine uses Rules Listener to interact with the Rules Engine. You must configure the connection from Content Platform Engine to Rules Listener. See Configure Rules Listener. Provide the information in the following table:
    Table 2. Rules Listener Connection
