Attempting to run Java™ applets
with a Chrome browser returns an error that the plug-in is not supported.
Symptoms

version 42 or later, the system displays
This plug-in is not
supported.

- Process Configuration Console

Causes
The Java plug-in for
web browsers requires the cross platform architecture NPAPI. As of
Chrome 42, you must complete more configuration steps to use NPAPI
plug-ins.
Important: NPAPI support is scheduled to be removed
from Chrome by late 2015, so consider browser alternatives to Chrome
as soon as possible.
Resolving the problem
To enable NPAPI in Chrome version 42 or later:
- Start the Chrome web browser.
- In the address bar, enter chrome://flags/#enable-npapi.
- Click the Enable link for the Enable
NPAPI configuration option.
- Click Relaunch that is now displayed at
the bottom of the configuration page.
