Edit attachment array

If an attachment is defined as an array (a collection of documents, folders, and so on), the access privileges specified for the attachment determine whether you can specify the target of each array element and add or delete array elements.

To add, view, or modify the target of an array element:

  1. In the open work item, select the Attachments tab to display the list of attachments.
  2. Select the array element to modify.
Tip: By default, attachment arrays are expanded so that each element in an array has its own row in the table. If an array is not expanded, click the arrow next to the attachment name to display the array elements.
  3. To add an element to the array, click Add Attachment to array on the Attachments toolbar.
  4. As appropriate, use the tools on the Attachments toolbar to perform the following actions on the selected array element:
Operations on the array element Action
Assign Attachment Assigns a target to the array element. Click Assign Attachment on the toolbar, then do one of the following, depending on the location of the target:
    • If the target is in an object store or library, open the object store or library and browse or search to locate the target (document, folder, stored search, and so on).
    • If the document is either a file on a shared disk or a web address, click Other, then select the appropriate option: UNC for a file, or URL for a web address.

If the document is UNC, you can use the Browse button to locate the document.

Optionally, you can leave the target for this array element blank.

Unassign Attachment Removes the assigned target from the array element.
  5. As appropriate, use the tools on the toolbar to perform actions on the target of the selected array element.
    Operations on the target Action
View Document Views the target of the array element. If your viewer application does not recognize the format of the target, the target will not display. If you do not have Viewer access to the target, the button is disabled.
    Open

Opens the target in an appropriate application available on your computer.

If the target is a folder, a Browse page displays the contents of the folder where you can select individual items. You can then use the tools on the toolbar to perform the appropriate operations on the selected item. Note that although the Link Workflow and Launch Workflow toolbar buttons appear to be enabled, you cannot link or launch a workflow from the target.

Checkout Document Checks out the target from a library and saves it on your local system.
Checkout and Open Checks out the target and opens it for editing.
Checkin Document Checks in the previously checked out target.
Cancel Checkout Cancels checkout of the target.
Version List Displays the list of versions of the target, including check-in information, access to archiving features, and other options.
Properties Displays the properties of the target.
