Content Platform Engine, Version 5.2.1

Creating the Process Engine upgrade properties file and starting the upgrade interactively

If you are upgrading FileNet® P8 from version 5.1 or earlier, start the peupgrade wizard and set the Process Engine configuration parameters for an upgrade. After providing input to the wizard screen, you will finish the wizard and start the Process Engine upgrade.

About this task

Use the procedures in this task to run the peupgrade wizard to configure upgrade parameters for an upgrade of the Process Engine. For upgrades from Process Engine version 5.0, complete these procedures for every virtual server.

Procedure

  1. Open your completed Installation and Upgrade Worksheet file.
Tip: In the worksheet file, verify that the Data > Filter > AutoFilter command is enabled. To view only peupgrade values, filter by peupgrade in the Installation or Configuration Program column.
  2. Log on to the Content Platform Engine server or a remote workstation as pe_upgrade_user.
  3. Start peupgrade, as follows:
    Platform Command
    Windows cpe_install_directory\tools\PE\peupgrade.bat
AIX®, HPUX, HPUXi, Linux, Linux for System z, Solaris cpe_install_directory/tools/PE/peupgrade
    -I
This file will be created when the wizard is finished. If a file with the specified name already exists, input parameters from that file will be read. An input file with properties already set is required to run peupgrade in silent mode. If no name is specified, changes are saved to a peupgrade_in_mmddyyyy.properties file, where mmddyyyy is the date. If there are multiple virtual servers, each requires a unique input property file, for example, peupgrade_in_mmddyyyy_virtualservername.properties
    -O
If not specified, messages are saved to a peupgrade_out_mmddyyyy.properties file, where mmddyyyy is the date file. If there are multiple virtual servers, each should have a unique output file to separate output messages for each virtual server. This will simplify later review and troubleshooting of each virtual server.
    -v
(optional) Setting verbose mode indicates the level of detail for messages logged and displayed on the screen.
    -Y pe_upgrade_user + password
You will be prompted for the user name and password if you do not provide it in the command line.
  4. Using the values from your Installation and Upgrade Worksheet file, complete the wizard screens.
  5. Review the summary screen and make any changes if necessary.
  6. Click Finish to save the information to the output file and to start the upgrade.
