When you use FileNet® Deployment Manager to migrate data, review the
recommendations for import options to improve the efficiency of the import actions.
- Before you run the import operation, ensure that the user ID that runs the operation has
sufficient privileges. The user ID that is specified in the FileNet Deployment Manager connection to the destination environment must have sufficient
privileges on the destination object store to complete all necessary actions during the import.
Optimally, specify an object store administrator as the user in the connection information for the
destination environment.
- If the import option Use Original Create/Update Timestamps and Users is
selected, then modifications to Content Platform Engine system properties
might occur. To modify system properties, the FileNet Deployment Manager import
user must additionally have the Modify certain system properties privilege on
the destination object store. If the user does not have this privilege, the import operation returns
errors. This object store privilege is not assigned to object store administrators by default; it
must be explicitly added for that user.
- When data is imported through FileNet Deployment Manager, some unavoidable
data validation exceptions can occur. For example, one exception can occur because Content Platform Engine allows the removal of a choice list element. This removal is
allowed even if the existing instance data contains that choice list element value. A subsequent
import of the instance data with the deleted choice list value results in an exception because the
choice list definition no longer contains that element. For more information about troubleshooting
this type of data validation error, see Options for handling data-caused import errors during data migration.
