Tuning the Content Platform Engine Social
Collaboration add-on
The performance tuning topics in this section have information
about improving the performance of Content Platform Engine by managing the social
collaboration add-on.
Disabling the social collaboration get count subscription
When Social Collaboration add-ons are installed, performance
degradation can occur, especially on content retrieval operations
such as check-out, check-in, and document retrieval. Performance degradation
occurs because download counts are incremented during check-out and
check-in operations.
Reducing the backlog of activity stream notifications
You can configure social collaboration such that each document
download results in a new entry in the activity stream notifications
queue table for the document. There is no mechanism for monitoring
how many entries accumulate in the activity stream notifications queue
table. Depending on your workload and hardware capabilities, the activity
stream backlog can increase in size to the point where you can experience
degraded overall system performance .
