You
can upgrade the Content Platform Engine (Content Engine,
if you are upgrading FileNet® P8 from
a version prior to 5.2.0) software silently. For application
servers running on AIX®, HPUX,
HPUXi, Linux, Linux on System z®, or Solaris, you upgrade Content Platform Engine Server and tools. For
application servers running on Windows,
you upgrade or install these components, as needed: Content Platform Engine Server, tools, .NET
Clients (including FileNet Deployment Manager).
Procedure
To upgrade Content Platform Engine software
silently:
- If you are upgrading on the same machine where Content Engine or Content Platform Engine was previously installed,
log on as the same user who originally installed that software. The
installation program requires this to detect that it is an upgrade
and to use the same installation path. If you are upgrading on a new
machine, where Content Platform Engine has
never been installed, log on as the cpe_install_user.
The latter would be the case where you are doing a migration upgrade,
installing on a new machine but upgrading an existing database.
- Open your completed Installation and Upgrade Worksheet file.
Tip: In the worksheet file, verify that the command is enabled. To view only Content Platform Engine values, filter by CPE Installer in the Installation
or Configuration Program column.
- Edit the ce_silent_install.txt file
by providing the values from your worksheet.
- Run one of the following
commands in the software package, depending on your operating system:
Platform |
Command |
AIX |
5.2.1-P8CE-AIX.BIN -i silent -f ce_silent_install.txt |
HPUX |
5.2.1-P8CE-HPUX.BIN -i silent -f
ce_silent_install.txt |
HPUXi |
5.2.1-P8CE-HPUXi.BIN -i silent -f
ce_silent_install.txt |
Linux |
5.2.1-P8CE-LINUX.BIN -i silent -f
ce_silent_install.txt |
Linux for System z |
5.2.1-P8CE-ZLINUX.BIN -i silent
-f ce_silent_install.txt |
Solaris |
5.2.1-P8CE-SOL.BIN -i silent -f ce_silent_install.txt |
Windows |
5.2.1-P8CE-WIN.EXE -i silent -f ce_silent_install.txt |
- When the installation completes, check for errors in the Content Platform Engine error log file ce_install_path/ce_install_log_5.2.1.txt,
where ce_install_path is the location where Content Platform Engine is installed. Also,
check the ce_install_path/ce_install_summary.txt file
to see a list of the components that were installed.
