Fixing a corrupt full-text index

To fix index corruption, reindex a full-text index after you set its resource status to UNAVAILABLE.

About this task

The UNAVAILABLE status makes the full-text index unavailable for searching. Also, the index becomes unavailable for indexing in the following respect: no changes can be made to index entries in the index. The intent is to prevent attempts to access a corrupt index and the generation of errors that result from any such unsuccessful attempts.

Procedure

To fix a corrupt full-text index:

  1. Inform users that you making the full-text index unavailable for searches.
  2. Setting resource statuses: Full-text indexes. For the Resource status field, select UNAVAILABLE as the status.
  3. Reindexing a full-text index. Submit an index job for the full-text index. The index job replaces the current full-text index with a new index. The resource status of the new index is OPEN.
