Managing user database fields

A user database field stores the value of a corresponding source field, such as a workflow field, so that the value becomes searchable.

About this task

A user database field is part of a workflow structure, such as a workflow queue, roster, or event log. The user database field and the source field must have the same name and the same (or similar) data type. When you add a user database field to the list, the workflow system creates the field. When you remove a field from the list, the field is unavailable to be used.

You can also create a user database field for a workflow structure by cloning an existing database field. This list shows the database fields that exist for all other workflow structures.

Procedure

To add user database fields:

  1. Access the User Fields tab in the administration console:
    1. In the domain navigation pane, select the object store.
    2. In the object store navigation pane, click the Administrative > Workflow System > Isolated Regions folder and click the isolated region that you want to modify.
    3. Click the workflow queue, roster, or event log folder you want to work with.
    4. Click the item in the folder to which you want to add a database field. For example, if you clicked the User Queues folder, click Inbox
    5. In the details pane, click the User Fields tab.
  2. Click New.
  3. Specify the information for the new user database field.
  4. Save your changes.
