To perform the UNIX installation, you can be logged
in as any user. However, if you install the Dashboard on an AIX® server as a user other than root, you cannot use the AIX system management tools, such as System Management Interface tool (SMITTY), to remove or
display information about the Dashboard.
- For a complete list of prerequite software, see IBM® System Dashboard for Enterprise
Content Management 5.0 Detailed System
Requirements.
- Dashboard 5.0 and later uses InstallAnywhere, which relies on the presence of a suitable Java™ virtual machine (JVM) on the target system to support the
installation process.
- JavaVirtual Machine (JVM) version 7 is required for use of
IPv6 between the Listener and Collector.
- The JAVA_HOME and PATH environment variables must be set correctly for your Java virtual machine. For more information about how to set these environment
variables, see your JVM documentation.
- Locate the installer that matches the operating system
on your server.
For a graphical installation, start
the installer by entering the appropriate command at the system prompt:
- 5.0.0.2-P8SD-AIX.BIN
- 5.0.0.2-P8SD-HPUX.BIN
- 5.0.0.2-P8SD-Linux.BIN
- 5.0.0.2-P8SD-SOL.BIN
For a silent installation (with no screen output), add
the –silent and –options flags
to the command. The following example is for AIX:
./5.0.0.2-P8SD-AIX.bin
-f Unix/sd_silent_install_unix.txt
If you copied
and modified the options.txt file, here is an
example of the command:
./5.0.0.2-P8SD-AIX.bin -f
/fnsw/local/tmp/opt.txt
Specify the full path to
the options.txt file. During a silent installation,
the prompts in the steps that follow in this procedure are not displayed.
