You can migrate a case management solution from one development
environment to another development environment, a test environment,
or a production environment. After you develop and test a solution,
you must deploy the solution in the production environment to make
the solution available for case workers.
When you migrate a case management solution, you move
the solution definition data and its related assets to a different
environment. When you deploy a solution, you make the solution
operational in the target environment, such as development, test,
or production environments.
In a complete case management
solution, several types of assets must be exported from the source
environment and imported into the target environment. Depending on
the tools that are used to design and create the assets, different
tools might be required to migrate and deploy the assets.
- For the assets that are not managed by FileNet® P8, see Migrating and deploying case management solutions in
the IBM® Case Manager online
product documentation. This documentation contains information
about the migration and deployment of a case management solution,
including information about using FileNet Deployment Manager as a part of the
complete process.
- If your solution package includes assets that are managed by FileNet P8, use FileNet Deployment Manager for migration and
deployment tasks that are related to those assets. For more information
about migration and deployment with FileNet Deployment Manager, see Deploying assets with FileNet Deployment Manager.
For general information about assets, see FileNet P8 assets.
