If you get a FileDoesNotExist error during
a thumbnail sweep, you need to increase the thumbnail generation delay.
Symptoms
When running a thumbnail generation sweep, you get a FileDoesNotExist error.
Causes
If you are doing a sweep during the addition of many documents to the database, sometimes
not all documents have finished processing while the sweep is trying to create a thumbnail for them.
This situation causes the sweep to not be able to retrieve some documents, and the process fails
with a FileDoesNotExist error.
Resolving the problem
To resolve this problem, increase the thumbnail generation
delay:
- In the administration console, select the domain and click the Properties tab.
- For the Subsystem Configurations property,
select 3) Content Configuration from the list.
- In the Content Configuration
Properties tab, increase the value of the Thumbnail Generation
Delay property. (The default value is 90 seconds).
The optimal value
depends on many factors, such as the size and backlog of content uploads, the number of documents
that are ingested, and the throughput of the system. In addition, the amount of time it takes the
system to make content available (including the time that is required for files to be renamed after
ingestion) can influence thumbnail sweep time. Based on this information, you might want to increase
the default delay of 90 seconds.
