IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

Planning for Secure Sockets Layer security

You must decide whether to use Secure Sockets Layer security (SSL) and if you do use SSL, decide whether to use redirection or full SSL.

If you configure SSL for IBM® Enterprise Records, you must use the same mode as the mode used by Application Engine, Workplace XT, or IBM Content Navigator.

If you are planning on SSL for IBM Content Navigator, refer to the Planning for Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) topic in the IBM Content Navigator documentation.

The option not to use SSL is provided primarily for development systems or other nonproduction systems where the security provided by SSL might not be required.

The IBM Enterprise Records web application can be used under the following two basic SSL configurations:
Redirect for login
In this mode, when users access the IBM Enterprise Records web application, they are automatically redirected to a secure site for login authentication. If the login succeeds, the user is automatically redirected to the non-SSL site and can start using the IBM Enterprise Records web application.
Full SSL
In this mode, the IBM Enterprise Records web application runs under SSL.
