Troubleshooting IBM Enterprise Records REST Services

You have some helpful information available to you as you work with IBM® Enterprise Records REST Services.

Table 1. IBM Enterprise Records REST Services troubleshooting issues
Issue Answer
Where are applicable log files located?
  • WebSphere: The application server logs are in the following location:

    was_install_location\profiles\profile name\logs\server name.

Both the SystemErrlog and SystemOut.log files contain exception stack information that can be useful in diagnosing problems.

  • WebLogic: The application server logs are in the following location:

    WebLogic_install_location\user_projects\domains\domain name\servers\server name\logs.

Both the server name.log and domain name.log files contain exception stack information that can be useful in diagnosing problems.

The first verification step failed. This failure indicates that the IBM Enterprise Records REST Services application was not properly deployed to the JEE application server. Verify the following items:
  • If you deployed with a different context root from the default value of fnrm, ensure that you are using the new value in the validation URL string: http://<server>:9080/<context-root>.
  • Ensure that the IBM Enterprise Records REST Services application is started within its hosting JEE application server.
  • Reconfigure and redeploy, if necessary.
The first verification step succeeded but the second step failed. This failure indicates that the service is not able to communicate with the wanted IBM FileNet® Content Manager domain. This failure occurs even though the IBM Enterprise Records REST Services application is successfully deployed and is running. Verify the following items:
  • Ensure that the login credentials used are valid for the IBM FileNet Content Manager domain. You can verify these by using the Application Engine or Workplace XT web application.
  • Ensure that the configured IBM FileNet Content Manager domain URL string was copied from the Application Engine or Workplace XT application correctly. You can verify this value by using the Application Engine or Workplace XT application.
  • Ensure that correct Jace.jar and log4j.jar files are in the IBM Enterprise Records REST Services WEB-INF/lib directory before creating the WAR and EAR files. You can verify these JAR files by using the Application Engine or Workplace XT application.
