After you install a major version of IBM® Enterprise
Records, always check for and
install any available fix packs and interim fixes. You must make sure
that you are running the software at the most current level.
Before you begin
InstallShield keeps a database of installed programs called
the installation database. The fix pack and interim fix installation
programs use the same installation database file,
com.zerog.registry.xml.
When you are updating your software, the installation program uses
this database to determine which software version is installed. You
must install any service packs, fix packs, or interim fixes for
IBM Enterprise
Records on computers where you
installed
IBM Enterprise
Records components.
- As the Installation Administrator user, you must have read and
write access to install future upgrades and fix packs.
- The installation program must access the installation database
for the installed version of IBM Enterprise
Records.
- Ensure that the location off the installed version of IBM Enterprise
Records is accessible to you.
Depending on your operating system and current version of IBM Enterprise
Records, the installation path
to your currently installed software might be different from the default
location.
About this task
Important: You must install the latest IBM Enterprise
Records base release before you
install any service packs, fix packs or interim fixes.
You can
see the default locations of
IBM Enterprise
Records software
in the following table:
Operating system |
Location |
AIX, HP-UX, Linux, Solaris |
Install upgrades or fix packs as the same user
that initially installed IBM Enterprise
Records.
The installation database is placed in the home directory of the user
who completes the installation. Restriction: If you use
a different user or delete the database, the installation program
cannot detect the existing software on your server. The upgrade or
fix pack installation fails.
The default location of the software
is one of the following locations: - If you are logged in as the root user: /var/com.zerog.registry.xml
- If you are logged in as a nonroot user: User_home/com.zerog.registry.xml
|
Windows |
Ensure that you do not delete the installation
database for IBM Enterprise
Records from
the InstallAnywhere directory. When you install
software, the installation database is updated. Later, when you update
your software, you have to be the same user as the one who competed
the initial installation. If you are not the same user, you will not
have access to the installation database that recorded the initial
software installation. Restriction: If you delete the database,
the installation program cannot detect the existing software on your
server and the upgrade or fix pack installation fails.
The software
XML file is installed at the following location: C:\Program
Files\Zero G Registry\com.zerog.registry.xml The InstallAnywhere
software database XML file is installed in one of the following locations: - If your Windows operating system is 32 bit: C:\Program
Files\Zero G Registry\com.zerog.registry.xml
- If your Windows operating system is 64 bit: C:\Program
Files (x86)\Zero G
|
Important: In product upgrades, for IBM InfoSphere® Enterprise Records V4.5.1, the location of
the installation database varies by operating system. These versions
were installed by using an InstallShield installation program and
database. The current user and InstallAnywhere installation program
access this database to determine whether an upgrade is warranted.
