IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

Creating the IBM Enterprise Records web application profile and running the web application deployment tasks

Create a IBM® Enterprise Records web application profile for the application server domain to configure and deploy the IBM Enterprise Records web application and the Application Engine or Workplace XT web application.

About this task

The information for a profile is collected in XML files as properties and values that describe the associated configuration and deployment tasks. You must provide values for the profile properties that are specific to each configuration at your site, such as the application server name. The XML files are stored in a directory that is unique to a profile. Because the profile name is used for the directory name and for the configuration profile file name, provide a profile name that is a valid directory name for your operating system. By default, the profiles are stored in the ier_install_path/configure/profiles directory, where ier_install_path is the location where IBM Enterprise Records is installed. You need to complete the following task:

Procedure

To create a IBM Enterprise Records web application profile:

  1. For WebSphere® and WebLogic, ensure that your application server is running. For JBoss, ensure that your JBoss Application Server is not running.
  2. If not already running, start the IBM Enterprise Records Configuration Manager.
  3. Start the Create New Installation Profile wizard by selecting File > New Installation Profile.
  4. Complete the wizard panels in order.
Important: WebSphere Application Server and Oracle WebLogic Server: If you are creating the profile for a highly available clustered environment, specify the WebSphere Application Server IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine information or the Oracle WebLogic Server administrative server domain.
    • Select the Profile type, IBM Enterprise Records web application.
    • You must complete the Configure Web Application tasks before you deploy the IBM Enterprise Records web application.
  5. Optional: WebSphere Application Server and Oracle WebLogic Server only. In the Set Properties for Application Server window, click Test Connection to test the connection between Configuration Manager and the application server by using your provided information. The test is optional, and you can proceed in the wizard even if the test fails. If the test fails, make sure that the application server is running. Also make sure the application server property values that you entered match the values that are defined in your application server.

The profile you created displays as an icon in the profile pane along with tasks and icons.

  6. Complete the Configure Web Application task. The Configure Web Application task configures the IBM Enterprise Records and Application Engine or Workplace XT web applications with interface files from each application. This effort includes copying the appropriate IBM Enterprise Records JAR files to the Application Engine or Workplace XT WEB-INF/lib folder.

During this task, the Configuration Manager detects the authentication method on your Application Engine or Workplace XT application server. The Configuration Manager also displays an informational message similar to the following message: This web application was configured for application managed authentication.
