IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

IBM Enterprise Records Transfer tool

The IBM® Enterprise Records Transfer tool is a stand-alone utility that allows you to transfer record folders and records to an external system. One example of an external system is the National Archives and Records Administration (NARA). The tool allows you to transfer entities to any system that uses the Department of Defense version 3 (DoD V3) XML schema format.

About this task

In export mode, the IBM Enterprise Records Transfer tool creates XML files, a DTD file, and a schema XSD file. The XML files have the following format:

'R' | 'F'_prefix_{guid}_suffix.xml

For example: R_ABC_{2c94752B-4A3B-B0AC-9F72-71FBE8A2EE2D}.xml

The tool generates the DTD file and places it into the specified output directory, with the following format: FNRMUserDefined_exportMappingName.dtd

Where exportMappingName is the name of the mapping object selected during configuration of the IBM Enterprise Records Transfer tool.

The XSD file is used for reference during the import process.

To configure the IBM Enterprise Records Transfer tool, see configuring the Transfer tool topic.

After you configure the tool, run it in export mode to create the XML, DTD, and XSD files. Then run the tool in import mode to complete the transfer of record folders and records to an external system. For more information, see the importing topic.

Attention: The IBM Enterprise Records Transfer tool is distinct from the Transfer action resulting from a workflow. For more information about the Transfer action in a workflow, see the two-step Transfer workflow topic.
