Backing up your previous installation

Before you upgrade, backup the files for your current installation of the records management web application and the related tools. If you need to cancel the upgrade process, you can restore your previous installation by using the backup data.

About this task

When upgrading IBM® InfoSphere® Enterprise Records or IBM Enterprise Records, the IBM Enterprise Records installation program removes the existing source and configuration files for the following components:
  • Web application (administration client)
  • API and Bulk Declaration Services (BDS) API
  • Disposition Sweep tool
  • Hold Sweep tool
  • Transfer tool
  • File Plan Import/Export tool

Procedure

To back up your installation:

  1. Back up your existing file plan object stores and record-enabled object stores.
  2. Back up your deployed Application Engine or Workplace XT application.
  3. Back up your deployed records management application.
  4. Back up the installation folders and configuration file folders:

    • ier_install_path/FileNet/RM/RecordsManagerSweep

    • ier_install_path/FileNet/RM/TransferTool
    Important: During an upgrade, the actions.xml is in the ier_install_path/FileNet/Config/RM folder. This file is automatically backed up to an actions.old file. Use this file to restore any custom modifications to the actions.xml file.

    Important: During an upgrade, the actions.xml is in the ier_install_path/FileNet/Config/RM folder. This file is automatically backed up to an actions.old file. Use this file to restore any custom modifications to the actions.xml file.
