IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

Upgrading events for FileNet Records Manager 3.7

You must upgrade events that were used in FileNet® Records Manager 3.7. You must disable COM-based events on the ROS and FPOS before you can import the upgraded events into IBM® Enterprise Records.

About this task

Content Engine 3.5 supports scripts and COM objects for event actions. However, in Content Engine 4 and later, all event actions must be Java-based. You must upgrade the events from FileNet Records Manager 3.7 because any EventAction objects that your application uses must be modified to use a Java™ class instead of a script or a COM object. Furthermore, the Java class must be located on the server; it cannot be on a client and streamed to the server for execution like Content Engine 3.5. For information on how to create a Java-based event action, see:
  • If your FileNet P8 system is Version 4.5.1: See the IBM FileNet P8 help topics in Content Engine Administration > Events and subscriptions > How to... > Work with event actions.
  • If your FileNet P8 system is Version 5.0: See FileNet P8 Version 5.0 Information Center topic Administering IBM FileNet P8 > Administering Content Engine > Events and subscriptions > How to... > Work with event actions.

To import events and event subscriptions:

Procedure

  1. Log on to IBM Enterprise Records as an object store administrator of each ROS and FPOS.
  2. Disable each existing event subscription:
    1. Navigate to the Object Stores/<object_store>/Events/Subscription folder.
    2. Right-click the subscription and select Disable.
  3. Disable each existing event:
    1. Navigate to the Object Stores/<object_store>/Events/Event Action folder.
    2. Right-click the event and select Disable.
  4. Rename each existing event that has a comparable name. The following FileNet Records Manager 4.0 or later events will be imported, so you must rename any events from FileNet Records Manager 3.7 that have the same name.
    • RMAutoSynchronizeProperties
    • RMLastRetrievalOfRecord
    • RMSecurityPropagation
    • RMUpdateDateLastDeclarationEvent
    • RMSendEmailOnSupercede
    • RMAutoDeclare
    1. Navigate to the Object Stores/<object_store>/Events/Event Action folder.
    2. Right-click the event and select Rename.
  5. Import the FileNet Records Manager 4.0 or later events and event subscriptions. For more information on how to enable and subscribe to events, see the Readme.pdf file included in the Events folder that you copied as part of Copy the Required Configuration Files.
  6. If your FileNet Records Manager 3.7 events contained any custom modifications, you must reinstate these in the imported FileNet Records Manager 4.0 or later events.
