If an IBM® Enterprise
Records server fails, you must restore the software. You can restore the
software by reinstalling the software from the FileNet® P8 installation image or
by restoring the server files from a full server backup. After the IBM Enterprise
Records server is restored, you
can restore IBM Enterprise
Records functionality
to the state before the backup configuration failure by restoring
its configuration files.
Records management data is contained in the workflow and
object store repositories. For more information about backing up,
see the applicable backing up topics.
Backing up IBM Enterprise
Records configuration files
IBM Enterprise
Records is installed as an application
on your
Application Engine,
Workplace XT, or
IBM Content
Navigator server. Back up your
application server according to the instructions of your application
server vendor. Since application server configurations and directory
structures vary from vendor to vendor, you are provided with general
information here about how
IBM Enterprise
Records interacts with the application server. In general, back
up any
FileNet P8 files
that you edit directly on the application server. Use the following
table to determine the files to back up. Where the Windows and AIX,
HP-UX, Linux, and Solaris paths are identical except for the separators,
the Windows format is used.
Table 1. Configuration file backupBackup target |

Back up all files that are in this directory. The config_dir is specified during configuration
and is stored in web.xml. For example, the following
path is the default Windows path:

Backing up IBM Enterprise
Records applications
The
IBM Enterprise
Records applications can be installed
on a server other than the
Application Engine,
Workplace XT,
or
IBM Content
Navigator server.
To back up configuration information for the
IBM Enterprise
Records applications, back up
the following files on the server where the applications are installed.

Backing up IBM Enterprise
Records Crystal Reports
If you use Crystal Reports, the
Crystal Reports templates (
.rpt files) and configuration
file for
IBM Enterprise
Records are
installed on the Crystal Reports server. Back up the templates and
configuration file after the initial
IBM Enterprise
Records installation and after
each subsequent configuration change. When you restore the files,
you must restore them to the same location.
