Configuring a default record type

To assign a record type as the default for all records declared for a specific record class, you must use IBM® Administration Console for Content Platform Engine. Use IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine to associate the record type with the record class. Before you can complete this procedure, you must create the record type that you plan to associate with the record class.

Procedure

To configure the default record type:

  1. Log on to IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine as Records Administrator.
  2. From the FPOS object store, go to the folder Root Folder\Records Management\Record Types.
  3. The list of available record types displays. Right-click the record type that you want to associate with a record class and select Copy Object Reference.
  4. Access the Record class from the Document class.
  5. Go to the Record subclass that you want to associate the record type with. If you define a subclass of Electronic Record named Invoice and you want to associate the record type with the Invoice class, right-click the Invoice class. Select Properties to show the properties page.
  6. Select Properties.
  7. In the grid that shows the list of properties, locate the property named Property Definitions and click the arrow in the second column. For the DoD and Base data models, select the property named [Object (Type)]. For PRO, select the property named [Object (Record Type)]. Find the property near the end of the list.
  8. The properties dialog for the property displays. Select the Properties tab. In the grid, locate the Property Default Object property and right-click on the second column, then select Paste Object. If you see a dialog, select the record type object that you copied in Step 3 and click OK.
  9. Click Close.
  10. Click OK to save the changes made.
