Configuration Manager can be run from a command line. This
section covers the syntax for the command-line version of Configuration
Manager.
You want to run the Configuration Manager from the commend line
as opposed to using the graphical user interface because of the following
reasons:
- You want to automate the configuration of the software.
- Your site wants the command-line version run for security reasons.
- You want to create a script to set up your system and then allow
a user to run the script.
- You must run the Configuration Manager from the command line because
your system is HP-UX.
You begin by generating the configuration XML files that define
the application server, the profile type, and the XML file path. You
then edit the files to enter values for your environment. Finally
you deploy
IBM® Enterprise
Records by
running the tasks from the command prompt.
Important: The
configuration XML files that you create with either the GUI or command-line
version of the Configuration Manager tool can be used with the other
version. For example, create the files with the command-line version
and use the GUI version to open the profile, edit the values, and
run the configuration tasks.
