In IBM® Enterprise Records, a record is a logical entity that serves as an official record for any type of document pertaining to business operations, or of having material value. A record can be created for an electronic or a physical document, an image, or email.
Using IBM Enterprise Records, it is possible to declare any document stored in an RM-enabled repository as a record. In addition, you can also use the RM Java™ API to perform various record management functions, such as associating a record with a record type, defining auto-naming conventions, and various record-related operations such as copy, move, and delete.
In RM, a record that is declared and stored in a FPOS is represented by the RecordInfo object. The RecordInfo object extends from the RMRecord interface. The topics that follow discuss how you can declare and manage records for FileNet P8 repositories.
