IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

Registering the IBM Enterprise Records administration client plug-in

To use the IBM® Content Navigator interface, you must load and register the plug-in JAR file.

About this task

Load the IBM Enterprise Records administration client plug-in JAR file into IBM Content Navigator by using the administration configuration in IBM Content Navigator. IBM Content Navigator loads plug-in JAR files by using a URL-addressable path. The JAR file must be deployed in an application server and referenced by IBM Content Navigator.

For full details on how to register and load a plug-in, see the Registering and configuring plug-ins topic in the IBM Content Navigator documentation. The following procedure shows the general steps.

Procedure

To register the IBM Enterprise Records administration client plug-in:

  1. Access the administration client in IBM Content Navigator by using the following URL: http://navigator_url/navigator?desktop=admin.
  2. Go to the Plug-ins configuration and create a new plug-in.
  3. Enter the URL where the IBM Enterprise Records plug-in is located into the File field and click Load. You can get the URL path by using one of two methods.
    • You can deploy an available and usable EAR or WAR file to gain access to the JAR file. This EAR or WAR file is available when you install the IBM Enterprise Records administration client plug-in. The following path is the default location: ier_install_path/Enterprise Records/Plugins/EnterpriseRecordsPlugin. When you deploy this EAR or WAR file in any application server, the following path is the default URL-addressable location: http(s)://server_name/EnterpriseRecordsPlugin/IERApplicationPlugin.jar.
    • You can use the plug-in JAR file. The plug-in JAR file is in the following location: ier_install_path/EnterpriseRecords/Plugins/EnterpriseRecordsPlugins/IERApplicationPlugin.jar. You can host the plug-in file in file-hosting servers. The path to the JAR file is needed by IBM Content Navigator to load the plug-in.
