IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

(Optional) Configuring the object stores for content-based retrieval (CBR)

If you plan to use Content Based Retrieval (CBR) in simple search, search template or with conditional holds, you must configure your object stores for CBR. The search template supports content-based retrieval (CBR). Use CBR to search an object store for records that contain specific words or phrases in the content of objects configured for full-text indexing. Configure the ROS and FPOS for CBR to ensure that users can perform content-based searches by using the search template.

About this task

This procedure depends on whether the object stores use a database storage area or a file storage area for their content storage area.

Procedure

To set up your FPOS and ROS object stores for CBR:

  1. Configure your IBM Enterprise Records object store for CBR. For mor information, see one of the following topics:
    Option Description
FileNet P8 Platform V5.0 See the Configuring Content Engine for content-based retrieval topic http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r0m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.install.doc/p8pin046.htm
FileNet P8 Platform V5.1 See the Configuring Content Engine for content-based retrieval topic http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r1m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.install.doc/p8pin046.htm
FileNet P8 Platform V5.2 See the Configuring objects that can be indexed for content based retrieval topic http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r2m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.install.doc/p8pin294.htm
    1. Run IBM Administration Console for Content Platform Engine and log on as the GCD Administrator.
    2. (Optional) Enter a CBR Locale.

Depending on your language setup, select the unit locale or a language-specific locale.

    3. (Optional) Create an index area. Index areas might exist on the platform for object stores not used by IBM Enterprise Records. Depending on your environment you might want to create separate indexes or use exiting indexes with IBM Enterprise Records object stores.
Tip: Complete the following two steps to configure the classes and class properties you want to make searchable in addition to the document content of the records. The following classes and properties represent a minimum set to allow CBR on document titles and selected metadata properties on your records.
    4. Enable CBR for class definitions by activating the CBR Enable flag of the class you want to make available for CBR:
      • ROS: Document Class
      • FPOS: Record Class, Document Class
    5. Enable CBR by selecting the following class properties you want to make available for CBR:
      • ROS: Document title
      • FPOS: Document title and any other properties you want to be able to search for metadata
  2. Index your IBM Enterprise Records object store. After configuring CBR for IBM Enterprise Records, index your object store before the object store is used. For information see one of the following topics:
    Option Description
FileNet P8 Platform V5.0 See the Reindex topic http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r0m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.ce.admin.doc/cbr/cb_reindex.htm
