IBM Enterprise Records, Version 5.1.2

Determining databases and table spaces

In IBM® Enterprise Records, you must decide whether to use additional databases or table spaces for your object stores to improve performance.

Determine whether you need additional databases or table spaces for the file plan object stores (FPOS) or the record-enabled object stores (ROS). You can determine this need by applying appropriate database indexes to the object store databases. You can then determine the number of database indexes to be used for content-based retrieval by using the related links. For example, several database indexes can be created if certain conditions are met. These conditions tend to lead to performance degradation and the extra database indexes can improve performance. For more information, see http://pic.dhe.ibm.com/infocenter/p8docs/v5r1m0/topic/com.ibm.p8.performance.doc/p8ppt138.htm.

  • For more information about these conditions, see the topic about Indexing IBM Enterprise Records databases.
  • If you experience performance issues when searching or performing content-based retrieval in IBM Enterprise Records, consider increasing the number of database indexes to improve performance.
