The email mapping tool is a stand-alone utility. You can
use the tool to create and modify a mapping between the properties
associated with an email and properties associated with an email record.
Overview
This mapping uses an XML file which
specifies the current mappings. You can use the tool to take this
existing XML, populate a dialog to display the current mappings, and
change the current mappings. You then save your changes without manually
editing the XML file. The XML automatically populates the metadata
for the document being filed on the system with the fields from the
email itself. This function is only supported on
Workplace XT and the tool provides
the following capabilities:
- You can use the tool to select which email class property to associate
with an email field
- The tool populates its Content Engine Symbolic Name field
with a default value, if one exists.
Tool Use
To run the email mapping tool, from
a command prompt, go to the
IBM® Enterprise
Records home
directory and run the tool.
- Browse to the ier_install_path directory.
- Run the EmailMappingTool.sh (AIX, HP-UX,
Linux, and Solaris) or EmailMappingTool.bat (Windows)
file to run the tool.
Important: On AIX, HP-UX, Linux,
and Solaris platforms that use WebSphere, verify that the EmailMappingTool.sh uses
the Java JRE version that is in the WebSphere® installation directory. The
default home directory (WS_DIR) where WebSphere Server or WebSphere Client is installed is /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer.
However, if your configuration is different, edit the EmailMappingTool.sh file
so WS_DIR= entry indicates the appropriate path.
- In the Custom Mapping of e-Mail Fields window,
the values in the Outlook Field column cannot
be modified.
- The fields in the Content Engine Symbolic Name column
can be modified with any property symbolic name you choose. You can
map more than one property symbolic name to an email field value.
In this case, separate the symbolic names by a comma with no spaces.
You can see the IBM Administration
Console for Content Platform Engine property
templates for a list of valid property names. The property mapping
changes take effect when you restart Outlook.
- Save inserts the property symbolic names
into the XML, the XML mapping is created, and the tool exits.
- Cancel exits the tool with no changes.
Important: The tool can be run multiple times, so
if you make a mistake in the mapping of a property you can always
run the tool again.
You can map Outlook message properties to
Workplace XT email class properties
using the
IBM Administration
Console for Content Platform Engine and
modifying the
OutlookPropertyMappings.xml file.
