You can install the IBM® Enterprise
Records software
on a single application server or distribute the products components
among multiple servers. You can complete the multiple server scenario
by running the installation program on each of the servers. You can
run the installation program either silently or interactively.
Before you begin
Ensure that you have the appropriate access rights to the
installation directories.
About this task
Restriction: For a multiple server installation,
the IBM Enterprise
Records administration
client must be installed on the server where IBM Content
Navigator is installed. However,
the other components can be installed on other servers.
If you
are installing
IBM Enterprise
Records with
IBM Content
Navigator, the operating system
or browser language of your web client must be set to the same locale
as
IBM Content
Navigator.
Procedure
To install the IBM Enterprise
Records on
a single server or components on multiple servers:
- Install IBM Enterprise
Records interactively:
- Log in to the server where you want to install the IBM Enterprise
Records components.
- Start the installation wizard and be sure to select
an installation option from the Install Set menu.
- If you want to install the IBM Enterprise
Records administration
client and the traditional IBM Enterprise
Records client,
select the Typical installation option.
- If you want the IBM Enterprise
Records administration
client only, select the Custom installation
and clear the Traditional IBM Enterprise
Records administration client option.

- Select the components that you want to install for the
current server and complete the installation program.
- For a multiple server installation, run the installation
program on the remaining servers in your system.
- Install IBM Enterprise
Records silently:
- Access the IBM Enterprise
Records installation
software package, and copy the ier_install_silent.txt response
file to a local directory.
- Follow the instructions in the input file to add values
that are appropriate for your installation. By default,
both clients are installed during a silent installation. If you want
to install only one client, remove the component name that you do
not want installed from the ier_install_silent.txt file. WebApp is
the name for the traditional client and WebAppPlugin is
the name for the administration client.
- Run the installation program by running the following
command on one line:
