You must install the Content Engine client software, either interactively or silently, in
order to have a complete IBM® Enterprise
Records installation and to set up IBM Enterprise
Records to work with Content Platform Engine.

Records software to install the
Content Engine client. You must install

Content Engine client software
on all servers where
IBM Enterprise
Records components are installed:

- IBM Enterprise

- IBM Enterprise
Records Hold Sweep

- IBM Enterprise
Records Transfer
Tool server
- IBM Enterprise
Records File Plan
Import Export Tool server
- IBM Enterprise
Records Crystal Reports

Important: In the Content Engine client installation software
wizard, you can have the client installation program create the EnterpriseRecords.war and EnterpriseRecords.ear deployment files. Choose not to have the client installation program
create the deployment files. Later in this procedure, you run the IBM Enterprise
Records Configuration Manager
tool and complete the tasks in the Web Application Deployment profile.
This procedure creates and deploys the deployment files.
Procedure
To install Content Engine Client files:
- On the computer where IBM Enterprise
Records is installed, log on as
any user who has the following permissions:
- Read and write permission to a temporary directory, such as temp, on the computer where IBM Enterprise
Records is installed
- Run permission on the Content Engine client installation program
- Directory access as documented in Client installation directory
access requirements.
- Copy the Content Engine client installation program from the Content Engine server installation program
location to the temporary directory. The version of the installation
software must match the version of Content Engine.
- Expand the Content Engine client installation program within the temporary directory.
- Start the Content Engine client installation process by using the following table:

To install the Content Engine client files interactively: |
- Access the Content Engine client installation program.
- Run the version of the Content Engine client installation program that is appropriate for your
version of Content Engine.
- Select to run the client installation program for your IBM Enterprise
Records installation.
If the Content Engine client
installation program does not locate the existing IBM Enterprise
Records installation, use the
following procedures. These procedures copy the Content Engine client files that are installed
to the user-specified location:- Copy the config, lib, and lib2 folders from CE_client_files_path\FileNet\RM\CommonFiles\CE_API to ier_install_path\CommonFiles\CE_API.
- Copy the contents of the CE_client_files_path\FileNet\RM\RecordsManager\WEB-INF\lib folder to ier_install_path\RecordsManager\WEB-INF\lib.
- Copy the listener.jar file from CE_client_files_path\FileNet\RM\FilePlanImportExportTool\lib to ier_install_path\FilePlanImportExportTool\lib ier_install_path\RecordsManagerSweep\lib ier_install_path\RecordsManager\WEB-INF\lib ier_install_path\RMTransfer\lib

To install the Content Engine client files silently: |
- Make a backup copy of the input file: CEClient_silent_install.txt
- Open the silent input file in a text editor. Follow the instructions
in the silent input file to edit the file to reflect the appropriate
responses for your update.
Tip: Configure the client installation
software to update your IBM Enterprise
Records installation.
- Go to the path that contains the Content Engine Client installation program.
Run the version of the Content Engine Client installation software that is appropriate for your version
of Content Engine.
