Add Entities

You see the Add Entities window when you select Add Entities on the main Edit Import Transfer Mapping/Add Import Transfer Mapping window. You can highlight multiple items on this window and the items are all added to the main window. The purpose of this window is to add only new XML entities to map to and is not for deleting them. You can delete XML entities on the main mapping window using Remove.

For more information, go to the import transfer mapping topic. Entities in the navigation tree come in two types: attributes and elements. Attributes and elements are at the same level of the navigation tree and subelements can be located as children within the elements. You can always select attributes, and you can also select elements that do not have subelements. Elements that are not selectable are disabled. After you select, you can see these entities in the Edit Import Transfer Mapping/Add Import Transfer Mapping window in xpath form. You no longer see the entities in the xml entity tree.

An XML element is everything from the start tag of the element to its end tag. An element can contain other elements, simple text, or a mixture of both. Elements can also have attributes.

An XML attribute provides additional information about elements. XML elements can have attributes in the start tag, just like HTML.
