FileNet P8 Process Engine, Version 5.0.+

Creating the Process Engine upgrade properties file manually

Edit the vwupgrade property file to set property values for the database upgrade from version 4.0.3, 4.5.0, or 4.5.1.

In this task you will edit the vwupgrade property file to provide Content Engine connection and authentication information, the path to the fnsw/local/sd or \fnsw_loc\sd directory from your 4.0.3, 4.5.0, or 4.5.1 system, the character expansion value and whether to override security errors during the conversion from the 4.0.3, 4.5.0, or 4.5.1 release. You will then run the vwupgrade tool to upgrade the Process Engine database to version 5.0.
  1. Open your completed Installation and Upgrade Worksheet file.
Tip: In the worksheet file, verify that the Data > Filter > AutoFilter command is enabled. To view only Process Task Manager values, filter by Process Task Manager in the Installation or Configuration Program column.
  2. Copy the vwupgrade.properties.sample file to vwupgrade.properties and edit the vwupgrade.properties file using the values from the worksheet.
    1. Change the current directory to pe_install_path\data where pe_install_path is the location of the program files that was specified during the Process Engine installation.
    2. Using a text editor, edit the vwupgrade.properties file by providing the parameter values for your configuration.
    3. Enter the parameters, one parameter per line in the following format:
      parameter name=value
      Parameter Description
FnswLocalDirectory This is the Fnsw Local Directory value in the worksheet.
55to56.ExpandCharColumns This is the Database Column Size Factor value in the worksheet.
ServerHostNames This is a comma-separated list of values for the Server Host Names value in the worksheet. These names must match the names provided in the serverlist used when you ran the PEInit -V command.
