You can use load-balancers to manage requests to the Content Engine in a highly available configuration by connecting the to Content Engine using the Web Services (CEWS, previously seen as WSI) transport.
Applications like Process Engine use the Content Engine CEWS transport to connect to the Content Engine. This transport can utilize load-balancers to balance requests to Content Engine servers in a highly available configuration. In this type of configuration a virtual server name is used by clients to access the Content Engine.
Use the virtual server name of the load-balancing device when configuring a connection to Content Engine to ensure that applications will function in the event of a Content Engine failure.
