Workplace provides two methods for quickly locating your frequently used pages: bookmarks and shortcuts. Bookmarks are a feature provided by your browser, and shortcuts are integrated throughout Workplace.
Your browser provides a feature for storing your frequently visited web pages. The browser stores the web page name in a list for you to quickly return to the page without typing the address. Because of the way Workplace stores your login information, some pages cannot be directly added to your browser's favorites or bookmark menu. Instead, you must open a special page, and then add that page to your favorites or bookmarks.
For detailed instructions on creating a bookmark, see the following topics:
Workplace shortcuts provide a place to store and access your most frequently used Browse views, Search views, forms, and entry templates. For example, you might find that you work most often in 2 or 3 folders in the Browse page. You can add these folders to your shortcuts list so that you can quickly go to those folders without having to navigate through the hierarchy of object stores and folders. Similarly, if you use specific forms or entry templates, you can create shortcuts for them. You can quickly open the form or start the entry template without having to find it through Browse or Search.
NOTE The shortcuts you create are associated with your user name only. You will only see the shortcuts created for your user name when you are signed in to Workplace.
The context-menu for a shortcut provides both the Delete action and the Remove action. These commands have different results, and you should understand the difference and the consequences of each.
The Delete action deletes the item that the shortcut points to from Workplace. If the shortcut represents a folder, the items that were in the folder are not deleted, but you will not be able to browse to locate the items again unless they were filed in more than one folder. You can locate the items that are no longer filed in a folder using a search.
The Remove Shortcut action removes the shortcut link from your list of available shortcuts.
