Copy object reference

Every Content Engine object has a system-assigned, read-only property called the OIID (Object Instance Identifier). This is simply a globally unique identifier used to identify and locate an independently persistent object. If you know an object's OIID you can use it, for example, in a search to find an object that has an object-valued property assigned to it whose value is that object. See Search using the value of an object-valued property.

This method is available from the pop-up menus of appropriate root classes and of object-valued properties in property grids. Each object reference you copy is added to the object paste buffer.

To copy an object reference

  1. Right-click the object whose object reference you want to copy.
  2. If the menu contains Copy Object Reference, select it. The object reference is added to the paste buffer where it is saved for later use.
