The Index Jobs Manager window

Use the Index Jobs Manager window to create, delete, and view index jobs. An index job is a task that indexes the text of a set of documents, annotations, folders, or custom objects.

The Index Jobs Manager window displays the index jobs associated with an object store and consists of a list that contains multiple rows of index jobs and details about each job, such as the job status. If you select an index job from the Index Jobs list, the details of which job items the selected index job contains are displayed in the Job Items list. An index job can contain zero or many index job items, and you can have a mix of different job item types within the same index job.

Index jobs remain in the database after they have completed, and they show a status of either terminated normally or abnormally. If a job terminates abnormally, it did not attempt to submit all requests for the specified parameters. If a job terminates normally, it submitted all requests, but there might still be errors in the logs indicating that some documents did not get indexed due to problems with the individual document.

When you no longer need a record confirming that an index job was completed, you can delete the job from the database.

If the Content Engine server running the index job is rebooted or goes down for some reason, the index job resumes running where it left off after the server comes back up.

With the Index Jobs Manager, you can abort or delete running index jobs, as well as view a list of classes that have had a change in the CBR Enabled property during the current Enterprise Manager session.
