Creating a database index for a property

Create a database index for a property as a possible alternative to setting the property as CBR-enabled. Database indexes are searched for the CBR query only as opposed to the full-text search expression that the query contains. (The search results from the full-text search expression are merged with the search results from the CBR query.) Consequently, you might want a database index in the following circumstance: you do not want or need the property text to be searched as part of the object text in the full-text search expression. For a frequently queried property, a database index reduces the amount of time needed to process queries on the property.

Database indexes are stored in the object store database and have no relationship to the IBM® Content Search Services indexes. You cannot create a database index for a system-owned property.

To create a database index for a property:

  1. From the Enterprise Manager navigation, right-click on the class that contains the property and select Properties.
  2. Select the Property Definitions tab.
  3. Select the property and click Edit.
  4. On the Properties window, click Set/Remove.
  5. On the Set/Remove Indexing window, select the Set option and check Single Indexed.
