InfoSphere Enterprise Records, Version 4.5.1.3+

Installing and configuring the Crystal Reports server

Install and configure Crystal Reports software, and then install the desired application server client software on the Crystal Reports Server. Follow the instructions for installing WebSphere® Application Server, WebLogic Server, or JBoss Application Server.

Important: (Windows® 2003 Service Pack 1 only) Before you install Crystal Reports, you must set Data Execution Protection for essential Windows programs and services only. See Manual configuration steps. If you are running the Crystal Reports Designer on the same machine as Crystal Reports Server, you must run Crystal Reports 2008 Designer with Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1. If Crystal Reports 2008 V0 is installed on the machine, you MUST first un-install or upgrade this designer to Crystal Reports 2008 V1 before you install Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1.

To install and configure the Crystal Reports server follow these general steps:

  1. Install Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports Server 2008 V1 and Crystal Reports Designer 2008.
  2. Configure Crystal Reports for InfoSphere Enterprise Records.
    1. Launch the Central Management Console (CMC) on the Crystal Report Servers.
    2. Select Servers from the menu and verify that all servers are running.
    3. Select Users and Groups from the menu, and choose User List.
    4. Click the Guest account and select Properties.
    5. Near the bottom of the page, select Named User for the Connection Type, and clear the Account is Disabled check box.
Important: Named User license is strongly recommended because otherwise hundreds of concurrent licenses must be obtain in order to view reports in InfoSphere Enterprise Records. Each concurrent license is equivalent to one report.
    6. Click Save & Close to set the Guest user account options.
    7. Locate the IP Port number specified in the server element of the C:\Program Files\Business Objects\common\4.0\java\lib\clientSDKOptions.xml file. This port is used to connect the InfoSphere Enterprise Records server and the Crystal Reports server. The default port number is 1566.
    8. In the CMC, select Servers from the menu, click the server ReportApplicationServer, and select Properties.
    9. In the Command Line Parameters field, add -ipport IP_Port_number to the end of the command line, outside of any path quotes. For example, add -ipport 1566 and be sure to use a normal dash in the command, not a long dash.
    10. Click Save & Close to set the IP Port number.
    11. In the CMC, select and highlight all servers in the CMC server list, click and select Restart Server to restart the servers. Wait until the list automatically refreshes, and then ensure there are no Stale servers (flag in the Stale column). If there are, restart those servers.
    12. Select Servers from the menu, and verify that all servers are running.
  3. (Crystal Reports is not collocated with Content Engine) Verify that the required JAR files from the Content Engine server exist on the InfoSphere Enterprise Records server.
IBM FileNet® P8 Platform supports various application servers. The machine that hosts Crystal Reports Server (CRS) 2008 and Crystal Reports 2008 V1 must have the same application server, or its client files, installed as IBM FileNet Content Engine
Restriction: If the application server used with Content Engine is WebSphere Application Server, you must install WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Application Server Client on the Crystal reports 2008 server and Crystal Reports 2008 V1.
Table 1. Actions required if Crystal Reports is not collocated with Content Engine.
    Application server Action
WebSphere Application Server Install WebSphere Application Server or WebSphere Application Server Client on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server.

For Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

    Oracle WebLogic Server

(Content Engine runs on Oracle WebLogic Server 10) If the version of Oracle WebLogic Server differs between the Content Engine machine and the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 machine, copy wlclient.jar from the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

For Windows: Copy the weblogic.jar file from ..\server\lib where the Oracle WebLogic Server server is installed on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server.

    JBoss Application Server

(Content Engine runs on JBoss Application Server 4.0.5) If the version of JBoss Application Server differs between the Content Engine machine and the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 machine, copy the jbossall-client.jar from the Content Engine machine to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server.

For Windows: Copy the Jace.jar and log4j.jar files from CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/lib on the Content Engine server to C:\CE_jars on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server. C:\CE_jars is only an example of a path on the Crystal Reports server

For JBoss Application Server 5.x only (if the client does not already have JBoss 5.x installed): Copy the JBoss 5.x client/ directory from the server that is running the Content Engine software and JBoss 5.x locally to a folder on the server that is running Crystal Reports 2008 or 2008 V1. For example, copy the CE_JBoss5.1_HOME/client directory to the C:\CE_jars_servername\ folder on the Crystal Reports server.

  4. Install a copy of IBM FileNet Enterprise Manager on the Crystal Reports 2008 or Crystal Reports 2008 V1 server to simplify the report configuration procedure.
