A document such as Microsoft Word document must first be converted to a simple text format to be indexed. This conversion process, called text filtering, is performed by the Oracle® Outside In Search Export 8.3.5 product. For example, suppose that one of the content elements for a Content Engine object is a Microsoft Word document. Content Engine uses the Oracle product to convert the Word document to a text document. The conversion occurs as one of the steps involved in indexing the text for the object.
Consequently, the types of documents that you can index and search are the types that the Oracle® product can convert to text. For information about the document types that the Outside In Search Export product 8.3.5 supports, see the supported formats at the Oracle website: http://www.oracle.com.
