When your Microsoft® Office applications and Outlook are integrated using Integration for Microsoft Office you can insert a hyperlink to a selected FileNet P8 document into an opened document. When the Office applications are integrated using Application Integration, you can insert a hyperlink, object store items and property values.
You can insert a hyperlink to a specific FileNet P8 document within an opened document. Open the document in which you want to insert the hyperlink, and then right-click the FileNet P8 document you want to link to from the Browse pane. Select Insert link to document from the pop-menu.
You can do the following tasks from an Office application using Application Integration:
You insert class and system property values into currently checked out Office documents using the Select Property page. This page displays the property name and value and you select the values you want inserted. Only one property name and value is added at a time. The values you insert into your document can also be updated.
The property information you are inserting is associated with the Reservation not the Current Release. Therefore, take note of the following:
You can insert the following items into an Outlook item, such as an email message, task, and meeting request:
Not all object store items can be inserted into an Outlook item. For example, you cannot insert a folder or custom object. The items that can be inserted are defined by your site administrator. In addition, documents whose file type can be defined by a MIME type are supported; however, inserting other object types, such as search and publishing templates are not supported.
To insert object store items as a hyperlink in Office or Outlook
NOTE If you are inserting a hyperlink into a cell in an Excel spreadsheet, do not double-click the cell. Double-clicking the cell causes your cursor to blink and prevents you from inserting a hyperlink. This is a Microsoft limitation. Instead, select a specific cell by clicking it once, and then insert the hyperlink.
NOTE The fully-qualified URL, such as http://example:8080/Workplace/getContent?objectStoreName=Exam2.__.DS.__.Ora&objectType=document&id=current&vsId=%7B468CDD9D-2644-4760-857C-99A0951F98D0%7D, might be displayed when inserting a hyperlink or the Document Name assigned to a document to which you are inserting a hyperlink might be displayed when you complete this task.
NOTE On Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit and Windows Vista 64-bit, with Kerberos SSO enabled, inserted links can result in a login page. To avoid this, use the workaround documented in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Search for 943280.
To access an item from an inserted hyperlink
NOTE If you access an item from a PowerPoint document, you can access the item using the following methods:
In the Slide Show view, click the hyperlink in the document.
In the other views, right-click the hyperlink, highlight Hyperlink in the menu, and then point to Open.
NOTE If you are inserting a property value into an Excel document, the cell in which you insert a property value must be empty. If the cell has existing information in it, the property value you insert into that cell will not appear.
From the Insert or Add-Ins menu, click FileNet P8 > Insert Properties. The Select Property page appears, where you can select the property you want to insert into your document.
