You can assign a document that is not located in an object store as an attachment to a work item. You must specify either the UNC path and file name of a document on your local network or the URL to a file in your intranet or on the internet.
Enter the complete path and file name, or click Browse to locate
the file. The UNC file name has this format:
\\machine_name\sharename\directory\file.ext
For example: \\corporateserver1\shareddocuments\salesreports\January2003.xls
NOTE If you are using Netscape 6.0 or higher and cannot open a UNC file attachment, contact your system administrator. A UNC attachment name looks like file:\\machine_name\sharename\directory\file.ext. For example: file:\\D:\JanuaryReports\Region7.xls.
Enter the complete URL to a web page. For example: http://www.myWebsite.com
To save your changes, click OK.
To exit without assigning a file, click Exit.
