FileNet P8 Content Engine, Version 4.0.+

Upgrading server-side scripts and COM objects

As with version 3.5 of Content Engine, you can develop and plug in the following server-side components for version 4 of Content Engine: event action handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers.

Whereas these components had to be implemented as COM objects or scripts for version 3.5 of Content Engine, they must be implemented as Java classes in version 4 of Content Engine. Therefore, for version 4, you must convert any event action handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers that you developed for version 3.5.

You need to know the amount of effort involved in converting version 3.5 script-based event action handlers to version 4 Java-implemented handlers. For details on developing and deploying event action handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers, see the Java and .NET Developer's Guide and the Java API Reference.
