About using IS as a fixed content storage device

You can configure a FileNet P8 system to use IS as a fixed content device.

A P8 system connected to fixed content devices most closely resembles the traditional way that the P8 system has been configured in the past and does not require CFS. The fixed content devices can consist of an MSAR, optical, or tape silo, and are part of an IS system used primarily for direct data storage and retrieval. Use the Add a Fixed Content Device wizard within EM to add these components to the system. In this configuration:

See Creating a fixed content device object to create the fixed content device containing the configuration parameters for the Image Services fixed content system.

If you want to continue using your IS applications, you must use CFS. See Content Federation Services overview for more information.
