Use the pop-up menu

The pop-up menu provides options that either select a user preference, initiate an action, or display properties related to the selected object. You can activate the pop-up menu by right-clicking either a node in the navigation tree or an object displayed in the details pane.

For details on actions available for a selected node or object, open help for the selected object. For example, to open help describing options available to the document class, select the document class in the navigation tree and press F1.

To use the Enterprise Manager's pop-up menu from the navigation tree

  1. Right-click any node in the navigation tree.  A menu opens, similar to the following example:

    NOTE  In addition to the standard options shown in this example, the pop-up menu offers options that apply specifically to the selected object. These node-specific options provide alternative methods of initiating tasks available through submenus.
  1. Select an action from this menu.

To use Enterprise Manager's pop-up menu from the details view

  1. Right-click the node for which you want to display the details view. For example, to view the document classes defined, right-click the Document Classes node in the navigation tree.
  2. Select View > Detail to change the view displayed in the details pane.
  3. Right-click the specific row that describes the object.
  4. Select an action from the pop-up menu, as shown in the following example.

The following paragraphs describe some standard options available through pop-up menus.

User Preferences
Sets user preferences. This option is available only for some objects.
Selecting this option from the root node enables you to define the global preferences.
Selecting this option from an object store node enables you to define preferences that apply only to the specific object store.
New > object
Starts the wizard to create the specified object. For example, when you open this option from the Object Stores node, you can select New > Object Store to start the create an object store wizard.
View > list of views
Opens a submenu with the view options for the details pane. It also provides an option to customize the MMC and snap-in objects displayed on the MMC.
New window from here
Opens a new window with your selected node as the root node.

TIP To toggle between different opened windows, use the MMC Window menu.

New taskpad view
Opens the Taskpad View wizard that helps you create a taskpad for the selected node.

NOTE  This MMC feature is available only when the MMC is in author mode.

Edit taskpad view
Opens a property sheet for the currently selected taskpad view that enables you to modify the general properties and defined tasks.

NOTE  This MMC feature is available only when the MMC is in author mode and the selected node has a user-defined taskpad view.

Delete taskpad view
Deletes the currently selected taskpad view.

NOTE  This MMC feature is available only when the MMC is in author mode and the selected node has a user-defined taskpad view.

All Tasks > task list
Opens a list of tasks you can perform on the selected node. These tasks are also available through the taskpad.
Refresh
Refreshes details shown in Enterprise Manager. This is necessary only if another system administrator is working remotely on the same Content Engine server, and you want to view any changes.
Export List
Exports to a text file the data displayed in the details pane. For details, see the MMC help topic on how to export columns to a text file.
Properties
Displays the property sheet for the selected node.
Delete
Deletes the selected object from being shown in the Enterprise Manager's navigation tree.

See the related help topic to determine if this actually removes the object from the server and what conditions must exist to allow for deletion. For example, for more details on deleting an object store using this option. See Delete an object store for more information.

Rename
Selects the name assigned to the selected node and lets you change it.
Help
Opens the help text that provides information for the selected node. For example, selecting this option from a pop-up menu for the Content Stores node opens the Content Stores topic separately from the entire set of Content Engine help.
