Change the Rendition Engine database password

The password for the user account that is used by Rendition Engine to access the database might change from time to time, for example, to accommodate for scheduled password changes. When the password changes, in addition to the user password change performed for the SQL Login user (Microsoft SQL Server) or VISTAUSER (Oracle), you must also configure Rendition Engine to use the new password.

This topic does not apply to the DITA Rendition Engine.

Rendition Engine passwords that might need to change:

To change the Rendition Engine database password

  1. Log in to the Rendition Engine server as a Rendition Engine administrator.
  2. In the Domain Manager tool, select the Configuration tab.
  3. In the right pane, select the Repositories tab and note if more than one COM repository has been configured for the Liquent Vista domain.
    NOTE  Each additional Rendition Engine that is added to the Liquent Vista domain constitutes a COM repository. If more than one repository has been configured, you must share the database folder during reconfiguration. See below.
  4. Right-click Domain and click Properties.
  5. Select the Database tab.
  6. Under Database Type, choose MS Access.
    NOTE  In this step, select a database type you are not using in your environment.
  7. From the Machine list, select your local server.
  8. Click Test Database to test the database connection.
  9. If there are multiple COM repositories in the Liquent Vista domain, click Share Folder to share the MS Access database folder.
  10. Click OK to close the Domain Properties window.
  11. When prompted, click Yes to confirm that you want to change the MS Access database.
  12. Choose File > Save to save your changes and confirm.
  13. Click OK to acknowledge the saved settings. The Domain Manager displays the following error message:
    “Unable to successfully access a repository in this domain. Some functionality will not be available.”
    This error does not affect the change password procedure and can be ignored.
  14. Change the Rendition Engine database password for your original SQL Server or Oracle database using the appropriate tools.
  15. In the Configuration tab, right-click Domain and choose Properties.
  16. Select the Database tab.
  17. Under Database Type, select the database type that you are using in your environment.
  18. In Password, type the new password.
  19. Click Test Database. A window stating that the database test was successful is displayed.
  20. Click OK on the Domain Properties window.
  21. When prompted, click Yes to confirm that you want to change to the SQL Server or Oracle database.
  22. Choose File > Save to save your changes and confirm your selection.
  23. Click OK to acknowledge the saved settings. Domain Manager displayes the following error message:
    “Unable to successfully access a repository in this domain. Some functionality will not be available.”
    This error does not affect the procedure to change the password and can be ignored. However, before you can monitor work from the Domain Manager Jobs tab, you must exit and restart the Domain Manager to access the functionality.
