Create a site

You can create a site at any time to organize resources based on network topology. A site represents a geographical location where resources are connected by using a fast, reliable local area network (LAN). Object stores, storage areas, content cache areas, index areas, and virtual servers are all associated with an individual site. There is no limit to the number of sites a single FileNet P8 domain can contain. Each site name must be unique within the domain. Sites are displayed in the Enterprise Manager domain node.

To create a site

  1. In Administrative Console for Content Engine or Enterprise Manager, right-click the site node and click New Site.
  2. Enter a name for the site. The name can contain up to 64 characters containing upper or lowercase letters, numbers, spaces, and symbols. Each site name must be unique within the domain. You can view the names of existing sites within the domain in the Existing names list.
  3. Optional: Enter a description to explain the physical location of the site or any other information you find useful. The name and description can appear in reports or through administrative tools. The description can contain up to 255 characters.
  4. Click Finish.
