Log on to the object store

To view or modify an object store, you must be an administrator for the selected object store. Administrative Console for Content Engine and Enterprise Manager check your access level the first time you select each object store in the current session. Because each object store in the FileNet P8 domain can have a different set of administrative users, each object store requires its own logon. The logon process is invisible to the user. See Object store administrator for more information about the object store administrator role.

After you log on to an object store, you remain logged on until you perform one of the following actions:

To log on to an object store in Enterprise Manager

  1. Expand the object stores node.
  2. Click the object store you want to work with. The logon process can take several seconds.

Object store administrators in Enterprise Manager

In Enterprise Manager, only object store administrators can view or modify an object store and the objects it contains. (In Administrative Console for Content Engine, access is controlled by the access rights that are assigned to the object store.) Enterprise Manager permits two levels of administrative access:

To enable limited administrative access

You must perform the following procedure on every workstation where limited administrators use Enterprise Manager to work with object stores.

  1. On the workstation where Enterprise Manager is running, click Start > Run and enter the following command to open the Windows Registry Editor:

    REGEDT32

  2. Navigate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\FileNet\ECM\Content Engine\Enterprise Manager.
  3. Right-click on the Enterprise Manager folder and click New > Key. Enter Reserved for the name.
  4. Right-click on the Reserved folder and click New > DWORD Value. Enter AllowNoSetOwner for the name.
  5. Double-click AllowNoSetOwner and set the value to 1.
  6. Exit the Registry Editor to save your changes.

TIP After you enable limited administrative access, you can assign appropriate access rights on object store objects to administrators with limited access. You can use the Security Script wizard to assist you with this task. See About the Security Script wizard for more information.
