Index area properties (Index tab)

The Index tab permits index properties to be viewed and modified. Most index properties are read-only.

Select an index in the Index List to use this tab for the following purposes:

Base classes (read-only)
A list of the base classes for the objects indexed in the index. For background information on base classes, see Indexable base classes.
Index ID (read-only)
The name of the index. This name is displayed in the Index List.
Index access control
Content Engine uses the following properties to prevent two or more index IBM® Content Search Services servers from accessing the same index at the same time.
Index size statistics
The following properties concern the size of the index. For information about controlling index size, see Setting the maximum size for an index.

Date Created (read-only)
The date that the index was added to the index area.

Index partitions (read-only)
The following properties concern index partitioning. For information about partitioning, see Configuring index partitions.

Index Status
The status of the index. The following table shows the possible statuses:
Status Description
OPEN Index changes permitted:
  • Addition of new object information
  • Update to existing object information
  • Deletion of existing object information

Restraints on transitions to this status
You can change the status to OPEN if the size of the index has not exceeded the specified index maximums for the index area.

FULL Index changes permitted:
  • Update to existing object information

Automatic transitions to this status:
Content Engine automatically changes the status to FULL when the size of the index exceeds the index maximum size.
