Resolving Content Engine name conflicts

You must resolve conflicts between the version 3.5.2 class and property names and the version 4.0, 4.5, and 5.0 class and property names.

If any classes or properties that you defined in version 3.5.2 have symbolic names that are the same as those in New Content Engine Classes and properties in Plan and Prepare Your Environment for IBM FileNet® P8, you must resolve these conflicts. Otherwise, the conflicts will be detected when you attempt to upgrade object stores to version 5.0.0.

You can resolve conflicts by choosing a new symbolic name for the user-defined or add-on classes or properties that conflict. And you must alter any customer applications or customer-created artifacts that reference the symbolic name, such as search templates, to reference the new symbolic name.

You can resolve name conflicts and verify the altered customer applications prior to upgrading from version 3.5.2 to 5.0.0 as long as either the name is not used in any application or the application is modified when the symbolic name is changed.

IBM® InfoSphere™ Enterprise Records contains one such conflict, involving the property ErrorCode, which is in the File Plan Object Stores (FPOS). You can resolve this conflict now; or you can resolve the conflict later, using the replicated object stores on the Content Engine replica server. rather than the production system. If you choose to resolve the conflict later, you must run tools such as the RM37PreContentEngineUpgrade tool on the replica server.
