Copying installation files to local server

The IBM® InfoSphere™ Enterprise Records installation software contains files that are necessary for an InfoSphere Enterprise Records installation, upgrade, or object store configuration. It is best practice to copy these files to the local directory on the specified server, and ensure that the files are not moved or deleted from their location should you need to reinstall and can't find the original media. As part of an upgrade, this is required.

To copy the installation files:

  1. Create a folder on your local machine where you plan to store the files and record the location of this folder for later reference.

    For example, on UNIX, create this directory root/InstallationFiles/IIER451, or on Windows, create this directory C:\InstallationFiles\IIER451

  2. Access the installation media and copy all of the files to the folder that you created on your local machine.
  3. Extract the following files from this folder to the specified server:
    Files from software package Copy to
    All extracted installation program files.

    Required for all installations.

    The application server where Application Engine or Workplace XT is installed.
    Events directory

    Required if you plan to use events

    The server where IBM FileNet® Enterprise Manager is installed and used to configure events.

    For UNIX® operating systems, the Events directory is packaged as a TAR file. Copy the TAR file to your system, and then extract the contents.

    Language folder that corresponds to your locale from the LocalizationAddOns directory

    Required if you plan to use localizations

    The IBM FileNet Content Engine server at CE_install_path/FileNet/ContentEngine/resources
    RM37PreContentEngineUpgrade directory

    Required when upgrading from FileNet Records Manager 3.7 only

    The IBM FileNet Content Engine at Path_on_CE_server\RM37PreContentEngineUpgrade
    Reports directory

    Required if you plan to use reports

    The application server where Crystal Reports is installed.
