Storage area properties (Configuration tab)

You can view and modify the following properties on the Configuration tab property sheet for a storage area.

Online
A flag that indicates the online status of the storage area. If the check box is selected, the storage area is online. You cannot save or modify content if the storage area is offline.
Allows new content
A flag that indicates whether users can add new content to the storage area. If the check box is selected, users can add new content.
Allows delete
A flag that indicates whether users can delete documents that have content in the storage area. If the check box is selected, these documents can be deleted. If the value of this property is false, the storage area acts as a permanent archive.
Suppress Duplicate Content Elements
A flag that indicates whether Content Engine is to add only unique content to a storage area. If the check box is selected, Content Engine adds only unique content. Specifically, if incoming content duplicates existing content in the storage area, the incoming content is not added. By default, Content Engine does not check for duplicate content. Consider selecting this option for those storage areas with high-volume content ingestion, such as when archiving e-mail messages to a Content Engine object store.
Content caching
The level of content caching that Content Engine permits for the storage area. This level is set independently of the server hierarchy owner assignment for content caches that indirectly determines the storage areas serviced by a cache. (For specific information about assigning cache areas to server hierarchy owners, see Assign a content cache area. For general information about content cache areas, see Content cache areas.) Click the appropriate radio button to select one of the following caching levels:
Delete method
The method that Content Engine uses when deleting document content from the storage area. Click the appropriate radio button to select one of the following deletion methods:
