Add-on features are modules containing custom metadata (classes and properties) and data (objects such as folders, custom objects, and so on) that support extensions to core Content Engine features, as well as support applications that integrate with Content Engine. An add-on feature can be a non-FileNetĀ® product that is compatible with the FileNet P8 platform, or an add-on feature included with the Content Engine software. The add-on feature name gives a hint to the underlying functionality of the add-on, for example, 4.5.0 Publishing Extensions provides the base functionality necessary for IBM FileNet P8 publishing applications. In addition, the description for each add-on describes the add-on's functionality in more detail. If you create custom add-on features, you can enter a description of your choice to help consumers of your add-on decide whether to install that functionality.
Before you can install an add-on to an object store, you must first create it. Once an add-on is created, you can install it to a new or existing object store.
