Configure CBR

Before users can perform content-based searches, you must configure the individual object store components for content-based retrieval (CBR). The object store components that you can configure for CBR are class definitions and string-value property definitions for documents and annotations. Each object store component is enabled independently of the others. For example, you can support CBR searches for one property definition in a class, and not others. However, for the property definition to be indexed, you must enable CBR for the class definition that contains the property definition.

Although you can configure CBR for annotations, the FileNet P8 out-of-the-box applications do not support searching for annotation text. A search for annotation text must be performed by a custom application.

See Prepare an object store for CBR for more information.

To configure CBR

Content Engine and Verity software must be installed before you begin this procedures.

  1. Import Verity style files using the Verity Dashboard. For more information, see Change a style set for an object store.
  2. Create Verity servers using the Verity Dashboard. For information, see the Verity documentation.
  3. Create Verity brokers using the Verity Dashboard. For information, see the Verity documentation.
  4. In Enterprise Manager, create a Verity domain configuration object.
  5. In Enterprise Manager, set the CBR Locale for the object store by right-clicking the object store node, selecting Properties, and then selecting the CBR tab.
  6. In Enterprise Manager, create an index area.

You can now enable CBR for individual class definitions and their string-value properties. See Enable CBR for class definitions and properties for more information.
