Migrating a Verity collection
By default, all indexed objects are stored in a single Verity domain. To improve scalability and performance, you can now dedicate a Verity domain to each object store. Configuring a new Verity domain and using the existing Verity index collections prevents the need to reindex all of the content in an object store.
To assign a Verity domain to an object store
- Install and configure a new Verity domain. See FileNet P8 domain root properties (Verity Domain Configurations tab).
To take a Verity machine out of one domain and relocate it in another domain, you must un-install and reinstall Verity.
- Use Enterprise Manager to define a new VerityDomainConfiguration object:
- Navigate to the FileNet P8 domain properties dialog box and click the Verity domain configurations tab.
- Click Create and establish the new Verity domain object.
- Enable Content Engine CBR (content-based retrieval) tracing.
- Disable the CBR Dispatcher on each Content Engine server in the FileNet P8 Site. This setting can be changed on the Verity Server page on either the FileNet P8 Domain, Site, Virtual Servers, or Server properties. By default, the setting is changed at the FileNet P8 domain level. However, a FileNet P8 Administrator can overwrite the default setting at a lower level.
- Check the Content Engine CBR trace. Find the last line indicating the number of active or running CBR Executors for the object store, for example,
“Active CBR Executor count is '0' for Object Store 'TestOS1'”
“Running CBR Executor count is '0' for Object Store 'TestOS1'”.
If the active or running count is greater than 0, wait until the trace log specifies that the
running CBR Executor count is 0 for the object store.
- Open the properties dialog box of the object store and click the CBR Verity tab. From the drop-down list of available Verity domains, select Verity domain Configuration.
- Copy the Verity collections for the object store from the original Verity domain location to the new location:
- Locate the area on the disk identified in the IndexArea as the Root Dir Path.
- Copy the directories that have the name of the object store that you are relocating to a new Root Dir Path that is accessible by the new Verity domain.
Restriction Do not use preexisting collections if the language on the object store is also going to be changed. In that case, you must index the content again.
- Access the Verity domain that you are moving from (the same domain that the collection files were copied from):
- Access the Verity K2 dashboard, open the collections node and remove the collections that have the name of the object store that you are moving.
- Access Enterprise Manager, open the properties page for each index area associated to the object store, and verify that the following values are correct:
- Root Dir Path
- Temp Dir Path
- Verity Search Servers
- Verity Index Servers
- Enable the CBR Dispatcher.
