My Inbox Tasks

This menu option provides access to workflows and work items to which you have permission to view or work from within an integrated application. As workflows are started (either manually or automatically), work items are routed to queues for processing by the appropriate people within your department or company. The workflow definition determines where and when work items are routed.

NOTE  This option is only available if your Office applications are integrated with Workplace.

A workflow is work performed by one or more individuals or resources, serially or in parallel, to accomplish a business process. If you have the proper access rights, you can use the Process Designer to create a workflow.

A work item is a single unit of work, the smallest component of work to be done in a workflow. It is a collection of both data and references to the system information necessary for processing the data. Work items are automatically routed to your Inbox or Public Work Queues.

To access your Inbox tasks

  1. From the FileNet P8 menu, click My Inbox Tasks.
  2. Click the work item link to open it in the Task Step page. Refer to Work with Tasks for more information on completing work items and completing step processors.
