Creating an add-on feature
You use the Create New AddOn window to create an add-on feature. When you create the add-on, you can associate VBScript or JScript files to run before or after the installation process. To create an add-on feature, you must have domain-level write permission.
To create an add-on feature
- In Enterprise Manager, right-click the AddOns node and click New.
- Enter a name for the add-on feature.
- If you are adding a new version of an existing add-on feature, click Advanced to specify the ID of the superseded add-on feature.
- Specify the XML file that will be used when the add-on feature is imported into an object store.
- Optional: Select the add-on feature's prerequisite from the list.
- Indicate whether the add-on feature is recommended or optional.
- Optional: Select a script to run before the add-on feature is imported into an object store.
- Optional: Select a script to run after the add-on feature is imported into an object store.
To install an add-on feature to an object store
After you create an add-on feature, you can install it to a new or existing object store. To install an add-on, you must have domain-level write permission. In addition, to import data defined in the add-on import file and to perform the operations in the pre- and post-import scripts, you must have any additional access rights that are required for those operations.
- In Enterprise Manager, right-click the object store where you want to install the add-on feature and click All Tasks > Install AddOn to open the AddOn Installer window.
- Optional: Right-click an add-on feature and click Properties to view more information about the add-on feature.
- Select the add-on feature you want to install, and click Install.
