Checking the upgrade status for Content Engine data

When you finish running Content Engine Web Upgrade Tool or the Content Engine Upgrader tool you can check the upgrade status to confirm that all object stores have been successfully upgraded.

To check the status of the Content Engine data upgrade:
  1. Choose View > Auto Upgrade Status in Content Engine Web Upgrade. Alternatively, you can enter the URL for the upgrade status page into your browser: http://server_name:port/FileNet/AutomaticUpgradeStatus When the upgrade is complete, you will see the following message in the upgrade status page:
Marking upgrade complete for object store: object_store_name
Done marking upgrade complete for object store:object_store_name
  2. Review the status for the FileNet® P8 domain or object store.
    Table 1. Upgrade status descriptions
Domain and object store availability Status Description
The FileNet P8 domain or object store is available for use. Ready

The FileNet P8 domain or object store is either a new entity, or the upgrade process finished before this Content Engine server was started.

The FileNet P8 domain or object store is available for use. Completed

This FileNet P8 domain or object store was upgraded since the Content Engine server was started. Click Completed to view the detailed status for the upgrade process.

In multisite configurations, the AutomaticUpgradeStatus page for the Content Engine servers in the sites that are not directly associated with the object store reflect the Completed status; however, the link for more details might be inactive.

The object store is available for use. Asynchronous Upgrade In Progress

Exclusive upgrade work was completed for the object store. Additional asynchronous upgrade work that requires long-running tasks (due to the large number of documents or custom objects in the object store) to complete is in progress.

In a multiserver configuration, upgrade work might progress on additional servers. You need to refresh the AutomaticUpgradeStatus page on each Content Engine server to determine the entire status.

The FileNet P8 domain or object store is not available for use. In Progress

Exclusive upgrade work is currently in progress on the FileNet P8 domain or object store. The Schema Revision column in the Status for the object stores section displays the upgrade phase that was completed.

In a multiserver configuration, upgrade work might progress on additional servers. You need to refresh the AutomaticUpgradeStatus page on each Content Engine server to determine the entire status.

In multisite configurations, the upgrade occurs only on servers directly associated with the site of the object store. It does not occur on servers in a foreign site.

The AutomaticUpgradeStatus page for the Content Engine servers on the foreign site will reflect the In Progress status. But the link for more details might be inactive.

The FileNet P8 domain or object store is not available for use. Not Available

The Content Engine server cannot determine the status of the object store. The server is still starting the Content Engine application and cannot access the object store to determine its status, or the object store cache was not loaded. Wait a while for the server to finish starting, then refresh the AutomaticUpgradeStatus page to update the status.

  3. Check for errors in the p8_server_error.log file on the application server.
