Specify the fixed content device
Use this page to select and configure a fixed content device for the fixed storage area.
- Select Fixed Content Device
- Select a device. The items in the list are those fixed content devices that have been configured in the P8 domain's Fixed Content Devices page.
- Staging Area Path
- Specify the staging area path for the fixed content device.
EMC Centera options
- Default retention period
- Select one of the settings for retention period. Content whose retention
period has not yet expired cannot be deleted. Your selection overrides
the fixed content device's own retention setting, unless you select "Same
as, which uses the fixed content device's own setting. Note that
the expiration date indicates only when content can be deleted but does not
carry out the deletion.
- No minimum (default): Content can be deleted at any time (retention
period is zero).
- Infinite (content can never be deleted): Content can never be deleted
(retention period is infinitely long).
- Same as the retention period of the fixed content device: Use the
default value of the fixed content device itself.
- User defined: Use the controls to set a retention period.

Hitachi Content Platform options
- Retention period

Select one of the following retention period settings:
- Zero (no retention): Content can be deleted at any time.
- Infinite (permanent retention): Content can never be deleted.
- User-defined: Content can be deleted after the specified period.

IBM FileNet Image Services options
- IS Document Class
- Displays the Image Services document class that was selected as the default
at the time the IS Fixed Content Device was created.
- Use default
- Select to use the default document class.
- Selected below
- Select to query the IS server for a list of eligible document classes
which will appear in the list. Select one of the classes. If
you use this option and change the default setting, you should map this
IS document class to an object store document class if documents will
be captured by IS and exported to the Content Engine.

IBM Tivoli Storage Manager options
- Default retention period
- Select one of the settings for retention period. Content whose retention period has not yet expired cannot be deleted. Note that the expiration date only indicates when content can be deleted but does not carry out the deletion.
- Management Class: The user-defined name of the management class.
- Retention Scheme: The type of retention scheme defined for the management class (Event-based or Chronological).
- RETMIN: The minimum retention value (in days).
- RETVER: The retention period value (in days).
- CE Retention: The number of days that Content Engine retains documents in this management class.
This value is calculated in the following way:
- Event-based: the RETMIN value (in days)
- Chronological: the RETVER value (in days)

NetApp SnapLock options
- Default retention period
- Select one of the settings for retention period. Content whose retention period has not yet expired cannot be deleted. Note that the expiration date only indicates when content can be deleted but does not carry out the deletion.
- Minimum: The creation time of each document + the minimum retention value specified for the fixed content device.
- Maximum: The creation time of each document + the maximum retention value specified for the fixed content device.
- Default: The creation time of each document + the default retention value specified for the fixed content device.
- User defined: The creation time of each document + the value specified in the edit box. Note that this must be between the minimum and maximum retention values.
