Site preferences
Site preferences configure the appearance, behavior, and connectivity
of the FileNet P8 Platform
client applications. Listed below are some of the features you can control with site preferences settings. Use site preferences to:
- Specify the object store in which to save the preferences file.
- Specify the documentation server.
- Specify an SSL host for secure logins from Workplace.
- Specify a remote Java™ server.
- Restrict access to administrative applications and security information.
- Restrict access to designer applications.
- Alter the appearance of document lists.
- Limit the number of items displayed in a folder or the number of items returned from a search.
- Choose which properties to display for various views.
- Configure connections to external reference services (such as IS libraries).
- Enable FileNet P8 eForms so that users can process and retrieve form data.
- Add useful links (for example, add a link to www.ibm.com).
- Enable compound documents.
A user can click the Preferences button
to set his or her own personal preferences. User preferences include:
- User Settings for Display. A user's preference settings override the equivalent site preferences.
- Shortcuts, Search, and Tasks preferences, which have no equivalent
site preferences.
To set site preferences
- Log in to the application as a user
who is a member of the Application Engine Administrators group.
- Click Admin.
- Click Site Preferences.
- Select a preference.
- Change the settings for each preference as needed. In the lists
of property names, an asterisk (*) indicates a system property. Names to the right of a property and in parentheses indicate customized labels that appear in the interface instead of the original label.
- Save your changes. A Pencil icon in the sidebar indicates a change that has not yet been saved.
- Repeat as needed for each preference and exit when you are finished.
NOTES
- If your site is configured with multiple application servers using the same site preferences file, changes to the site preferences on one system can take as long as 20 minutes to propagate to the remaining application servers. Site preferences files are automatically refreshed every 20 minutes when multiple application servers share the same site preferences file.
- IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records does not honor these site preferences. For more information, see IBM InfoSphere Enterprise Records Configuration in the Help for InfoSphere Enterprise Records.
TIP To find information about a specific site preference, use the FileNet P8 Documentation Search feature to search for the term in quotes.
