Changing the status of an index area

Change the status of an index area to OPEN, STANDBY, or CLOSED to control index area use. You can also indirectly change the status to FULL.

To directly change the status of an index area:

  1. Working with index area properties. Access the properties for the index area.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. If you want to change the Area Status property value to OPEN (or to STANDBY) from FULL, the maximum number of indexes must be greater than the current number of indexes. For information about setting the maximum number of indexes, see Setting the maximum number of indexes for an index area. Alternatively, at least one index must have a status of OPEN. For information about changing the status of an index, see Changing the status of an index.
  4. Enter the status for the Area Status property.
  5. Click OK.

To indirectly change the status of an index area to FULL:

  1. Setting the maximum number of indexes for an index area. Set the maximum number of indexes to be less than the current number of indexes.
  2. Changing the status of an index. Set the status of all indexes for the index area to CLOSED.
  3. Add an object to the object store that belongs to a CBR-enabled class. (Content Engine does not automatically change the status to FULL until a new object is indexed.)
