General directory configuration properties

Enter the general directory configuration properties. (As indicated in the property descriptions, some properties and some property values pertain to Microsoft® Active Directory only.)

Host
The name of a host machine on which a directory server runs or a list of such names paired with port numbers. This list of host name and port number pairs is called a failover list and can be specified only for Active Directory. Specifically, each directory server represented in the failover list must be an Active Directory domain controller. Format a failover list in the following manner:
Hostname1:Port1 Hostname2:Port2 Hostname3:Port3 ... HostnameN:PortN
Port
The port number of the directory server. Content Engine ignores this property when the Host property is a failover list.
Directory Service User
The user name for authenticating to the directory server.
Password
The password for authenticating to the directory server. You must confirm the password by retyping it.
Is SSL Enabled
A Boolean property that enables or disables the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) protocol for a given Directory Configuration object. By default, SSL is disabled for all directory server types supported by the FileNet P8 Content Engine.
Connection Timeout (Active Directory)
The Active Directory Service provider connection timeout in milliseconds. The default is 500 milliseconds. If the connection is across a WAN, consider increasing the value.
Allow UPN Short Names (Active Directory)
A Boolean property that specifies whether an Active Directory configuration can use an e-mail address or User Principal Name (UPN) as the user short name. By default, the property is false. If you have more than one Active Directory configuration set up for Content Engine, all of them must have the same setting for using UPN as the short name.
Return Name as DN (Active Directory)
A Boolean property that specifies whether to return the user or group name in Distinguished Name (DN) format for Active Directory Service provider. By default, the Active Directory Service provider returns the user and group names in UPN format. If this property is set to True, the service provider returns the names in DN format, which is consistent with other types of directory service providers.
Global Catalog Host (Active Directory)
Optional: The name of a host machine on which an Active Directory global catalog runs or a list of such names paired with port numbers. This list of host name and port number pairs is called a failover list and can be specified only for Active Directory. Specifically, each directory server represented in the failover list must be an Active Directory global catalog. Format a failover list in the following manner:
Hostname1:Port1 Hostname2:Port2 Hostname3:Port3 ... HostnameN:PortN
By default, this property is empty. When the property is empty, Content Engine uses an internal mechanism to find a global catalog.
Global Catalog Port (Active Directory
The port number of an Active Directory global catalog server. Content Engine ignores this property when the Global Catalog Host property is empty or is a failover list.
