Upgrading Content Engine software silently (UNIX)

You can upgrade the Content Engine software silently. On UNIX application servers, you will upgrade Content Engine Server and Configuration Manager.

To upgrade Content Engine software silently:
  1. Open your completed Installation and Upgrade Worksheet file.
Tip: In the worksheet file, verify that the Data > Filter > AutoFilter command is enabled. To view only Content Engine values, filter by CE Installer in the Installation or Configuration Program column.
  2. Edit the ce_silent_install.txt file by providing the values from your worksheet.
  3. Run one of the following commands in the software package, depending on your operating system:
    Platform Command
    AIX® 5.0.0-P8CE-AIX.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
    HPUX 5.0.0-P8CE-HPUX.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
    HPUXi 5.0.0-P8CE-HPUXi.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
    Linux® 5.0.0-P8CE-LINUX.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
    Solaris 5.0.0-P8CE-SOL.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
    zLinux 5.0.0-P8CE-ZLINUX.BIN -f ce_silent_install.txt
  4. When the installation completes, check for errors in the Content Engine error log file ce_install_path/ce_install_log_5_0.txt, where ce_install_path is the location where Content Engine is installed.
  5. Check for errors in the p8_server_error.log file on the application server.
