Content cache store properties (Configuration tab)
The content cache store property sheet Configuration tab shows the
storage capacity available on the local server for the content cache.
It also allows you to determine whether the Content Cache Service
purges the cache each time the server restarts.
To help you determine the most appropriate configuration for your server group, see Content cache area management.
- Maximum size
- Identifies how much space to reserve for the content cache. When the content
stored in the cache exceeds this limit, the Content Cache Service removes documents with the oldest access time.
This setting marks the center between the low and high levels used for the content
cache size. For example, if the maximum size is set to 500, the content cache
can consume 525 MB before documents are removed from the cache.
By default, the maximum size is set to 500 MB.
- Maximum number of files
- Identifies how many files are allowed in the content cache. When the number
of files in the cache exceeds this limit, the Content Cache Service removes documents with the oldest access time. This setting marks the center between the low and high number of documents
allowed in the cache at the same time. For example, if the maximum number of files
is set to 1000, the actual file count can grow beyond that, for example, to
1050. When the Content Cache Service removes documents from cache, it reduces
the number of documents below that, for example, to 950.
By default, maximum number of files is set to 2500.
- Purge cache each time on startup
- When selected, specifies that
the the
Content Cache Service clears all documents from the cache on startup. Otherwise cached content remains in the
cache subject to the settings for the maximum size or number of files.
