Name and Describe the Class

Name
Enter a name that is unique within the object store. The name is required and can contain up to 64 characters (uppercase or lowercase letters, numbers, spaces and symbols).
Symbolic Name
The symbolic name can be used as a programmatic identifier. The symbolic name is created by the Create a Class wizard, using the value of the Name and removing any spaces and ensuring that the first character is alpha (the rest of the name can be alphanumeric). You can change the Symbolic Name, but you will also have to change any code that is using this value. The Symbolic Name must be unique to the FileNet P8 domain.
Description
The class description is optional, and you can change the default description that mirrors the name. The class description can contain up to 255 characters. Use the description to describe the types of content that are being stored or any other information you find useful.

The name and description can be included in reports or viewed with administrative tools.

Existing Names
The non-selectable Existing Names list box contains the names of existing classes within the object store, so you know the names already in use.
