FileNet P8 Content Engine, Version 5.0.+

Creating the installation configuration profile

The configuration profile is a collection of information required to configure and deploy a new Content Engine application instance on an application server.

The following procedure provides an order for the editing and running the individual configuration tasks. However, you can perform the configuration tasks in any order, and you do not need to complete work on one configuration task before starting another. You can save your edits, switch between tasks, close the tasks, and reopen tasks as needed.

To create a new configuration profile:

  1. See your installation worksheet to specify the values for the parameters required for your new profile.
Hint: With the Data > Filter > AutoFilter command enabled, as it is by default in the shipping worksheet file (p8_worksheet.xls), complete the following actions to quickly see only the properties you must specify for Configuration Manager:
    • Click the AutoFilter drop-down arrow in the "Installation or Configuration Program" column header and select CM: Set Application Server properties.
    • Click the AutoFilter drop-down arrow in the "Setup Type" column header, select Custom, and specify Setup Type contains "Installation".
    • Click the AutoFilter drop-down arrow in all other column headers and select (All).
    1. Start the Create New Configuration Profile wizard, by selecting File > New Installation Profile, and use the information in your worksheet to specify the values for the parameters in the wizard screens.
  2. Start or stop the application server, depending on its type:
    Option Description
WebSphere and WebLogic Start the application server if it is not already running.
    JBoss Stop the application server.
  3. Provide property values for the JDBC data sources for the General Configuration Database (GCD).
  4. If your configuration profile is not open in Configuration Manager, open the profile you created earlier.
  5. Right-click Configure GCS JDBC Data Sources in the profile pane, and select Edit Selected Task .
  6. Provide the property values for your database by using the values from your worksheet.
  7. Select File > Save to save your changes.
  8. Apply the JDBC property settings by right-clicking Configure GCD JDBC Data Sources in the profile pane, and select Run Task. Running the configuration task can take a few minutes. The task execution status messages are displayed in the console pane below the JDBC properties.
  9. Close the Configure GCD JDBC Data Sources task pane. In this step, you created the GCD data sources. You will create the initial object store data sources later in the configuration process.
  10. Provide property values for the LDAP provider:
    1. Right-click Configure LDAP in the profile pane, and select Edit Selected Task .
    2. Provide the property values for your LDAP provider by using the values from your worksheet.
  11. Select File > Save to save your changes.
  12. Apply the LDAP property settings by right-clicking Configure LDAP in the profile pane, and select Run Task. Running the configuration task can take a few minutes. The task execution status messages are displayed in the console pane below the LDAP properties.
  13. Close the Configure LDAP task pane.
  14. Provide property values for the Content Engine bootstrap.
    1. Right-click Configure Bootstrap Properties in the profile pane, and select Edit Selected Task.
    2. In the Bootstrap Operation list, select Configure New.
    3. Provide the bootstrap property values by using the values from your worksheet.
  15. Select File > Save to save your changes.
  16. Apply the bootstrap property settings by right-clicking Configure Bootstrap Properties in the profile pane, and select Run Task. Running the configuration task can take a few minutes. The task execution status messages are displayed in the console pane below the bootstrap properties.
  17. Close the Configure Bootstrap task pane.
  18. Close Configuration Manager.
