Deleting a domain

You can delete a FileNet P8 domain and optionally create a domain to replace the one that you deleted. To create a replacement domain after following the deletion procedure in this topic, see Log on to a domain.

ATTENTION Deleting a domain is an irreversible operation.

To delete a FileNet P8 domain

  1. Determine the database or table space used by the domain in the following manner: Use your application server console to view the data source information for the GCD JNDI DataSource you entered during the Content Engine configuration. (For example, in WebLogic, look at the Java™ Database Connectivity (JDBC) data sources. The database information is indicated in the URL for the connection pool.) This information is needed for later steps. Proceed with this procedure only if certain of the data location for the domain.
  2. Delete all object stores for the domain. For more information, see Deleting an object store.
  3. Close Enterprise Manager.
  4. Stop the application server on which Content Engine runs. For example, stop the WebSphere Application Server if the Content Engine runs on that server.
  5. Open the appropriate tool for your database vendor to access the database or table space. For example, you might open All Programs > Microsoft SQL Server > Enterprise Manager from the Microsoft Windows Start menu.
  6. In the database provider tool, find the Global Configuration Database (GCD) database or table space for the domain.
  7. In the GCD database or table space, drop the tables whose names begin with FNGCD.
  8. Start the application server.
