View or download a document

You can download a copy of a document to your local computer. If you want to edit the document, you must first check out the document before you download it. In addition, you can also download multiple documents at one time. The documents you select in Workplace are placed into a single compressed file that is downloaded to your computer. If you select two or more multi-content documents, only the first element of each document is downloaded.

If your selected document has more than one version, you can download either the current version or a specific version in the series. The Download action always downloads the specific version of the document as specified in the information page. For more about document versions, see Manage document versions.

To download a document

  1. Navigate to the document by browsing or searching.
  2. Right-click the document name, and select Download from the menu. If you want to select more than one document, select the check boxes to the left of the objects you want to file. To select all items in the page, select the check box to the left of the title row for the list of objects. From the Actions Menu, click Download. Review the list of objects to ensure you selected the objects you want.

    NOTE  In Workplace, if you are downloading multiple documents, review the list of documents to ensure that you selected the correct documents. A red asterisk next to any document name in the list indicates that document does not have any content and cannot be downloaded. Close the page and select the documents again without including the document that did not have any content. You cannot complete the download if one or more of the selected documents does not have any content.
