Deleting a file storage area or fixed storage area

You can delete a storage area if the area does not possess any of the following attributes in relation to any class:

When you attempt to delete a storage area, Enterprise Manager lists any classes that prevent the deletion of the area. For information about changing the default storage area or storage policy for a class, see Class properties (General tab). For information about changing the storage area assigned to a storage policy, see Select storage areas.

Enterprise Manager automatically removes the entry for a deleted storage area from the object store. The deleted storage area is no longer available to Enterprise Manager, Workplace, or any other applications written with the FileNet P8 API. Enterprise Manager does not automatically delete the directories and files for the storage area. These directories and files can be manually deleted (as indicated in the deletion procedure).

ATTENTION Deleting a storage area is an irreversible operation. Specifically, the deletion breaks the association between the content in the storage area and objects that own that content (such as documents and annotations). The content in the deleted storage area becomes irreversibly inaccessible. Consequently, before deleting the storage area, copy, back up, or move the content of the storage area. For information about how to restore a deleted file storage area or recover damaged files, see Restore Content Engine.
