Property template properties (More tab)
Use the More tab to view, modify, or access more property template properties and actions. The attributes you can set on this tab depend on the data type of the property.
NOTES
- Content Engine stores integer properties as
32 bits and float properties as 64 bits.
- Content Engine stores dates and times using Universal Time Coordinates (UTC). Enter local times.
- Name Property (DateTime, ID, integer, string data types)
- Identifies the property that is the most important one in the
class. Only one property in a class can be the name property. The name property
is meant to be used by the application program as a title. For example, to list
the results of a query, the application could create a title comprised of the
name of the class and the name property. If the example class was called Loans,
the name property could be the Loan Number.
- Value Required (all data types)
- Determines whether an attributet must have a value. If a value is required, the user
cannot leave the property blank.
- Allows Foreign Object (object data type)
- Indicates whether the property supports
cross-object store references. If you select this option, an object belonging to another object store within
the FileNet P8 domain and to which the user has access can be set as the value
for the property.
- Persistence (all data types)
- Determines whether the property is persisted, or saved, to the database. Once you set the persistence, you cannot change it. You can select one of the following choices:
- Transient—The property value is visible to event actions but is otherwise
discarded.
- System Table—Property values are stored in
system-defined table in the object store database. The default
is persistent in the System Table. The system-defined table name consists of “ListOf” followed by the data type.
- Own Table—For properties that can have multiple values, property values can be stored in their own indexable table in the
object store database, allowing you to create your own indexes for
searching. The table name consists of “u_” followed by the symbolic name of the
property.
- Hidden (all data types)
- Indicates that the property template is used by the system,
but not by the user. This attribute provides a hint to the application not
to display the property. If the application does provide the user with access
to a property defined as hidden, the user can do anything with the property
that they could do with an unhidden property.
- Security Proxy Type (object data type)
- Indicates whether the security on the property is inherited.
- Settability (all data types)
- Indicates whether and under what conditions a user can change the value of the property, as follows:
- Read only: Users cannot enter a value for the property.
Use this setting for properties that currently have a default value, but
might have different values in the future, or for properties that have a
constant value within all instances of the class.
- Read/Write: Users can view and change values.
- Settable only before checkin: The value can be set only before the object
is checked in.
- Settable only on create: If the value for this attribute is True, the
user cannot change the value once it has been saved in the database. An
example of a property that could be settable only when created is Entry Date.
Once you set a value for the entry date, you cannot change it.
- Category (all data types)
- Specifies optional information that you can use to group related properties together for
sorting purposes. For example, you can enter the name of the add-on XML file
that was used to import the property into the object store. When you view
property templates in Enterprise Manager or when
you view the results of an Enterprise Manager search for property templates,
you can sort the property templates by category.
- Audit As (all data types)
- Specifies the event property template that is used to audit the property. If the value is NULL or it specifies a property template that is not part of the Event object, the property value will not be stored in the corresponding audit entries. The property template that you specify must be a property definition on ObjectChangeEvent or one of its subclasses.
- Choice List (integer, string data types)
- Specifies the name of the choice list assigned to the property
template.
- Default Value (all data types)
- Provides the user with a default value for
the property. You cannot set a default if the property
can have multiple values. If you change this
attribute, the change propagates to all subclasses where the current
value is less than the new value or where a value is not set.
- Minimum Value
- Sets the minimum value. If you change this attribute,
the change propagates to all subclasses where the current value is
less than the new value or where a value is not set. The lowest value allowed depends on the data type, as follows:
- DateTime: January 1, 1753
- Float: -1.7E308
- Integer: -2,147,483,648
- Maximum Value
- Sets the maximum value. If you change this attribute,
the change propagates to all subclasses where the current value is
greater than the new value or where a value is not set.
The highest value allowed depends on the data type, as follows:
- DateTime: December 30, 9999
- Float: 1.7E308
- Integer: 2,147,483,647
- Maximum Length
- Sets the maximum number of characters. The
maximum number of characters allowed for persistent properties is determined
by the database engine: Microsoft SQL Server and DB2 allow 4000 characters; Oracle allows 1333 characters.
Non-persistent properties can have up to 2,147,483,647 characters. If you change
this value, the change propagates to subclasses with a higher maximum
value or where the value was not set.
