To view or modify an object store, you must be an administrator for the selected object store. Administrative Console for Content Engine and Enterprise Manager check your access level the first time you select each object store in the current session. Because each object store in the FileNet P8 domain can have a different set of administrative users, each object store requires its own logon. The logon process is invisible to the user. See Object store administrator for more information about the object store administrator role.
After you log on to an object store, you remain logged on until you perform one of the following actions:
To log on to an object store in Enterprise Manager
In Enterprise Manager, only object store administrators can view or modify an object store and the objects it contains. (In Administrative Console for Content Engine, access is controlled by the access rights that are assigned to the object store.) Enterprise Manager permits two levels of administrative access:
In some cases when an administrator with limited access attempts to perform an action that is not permitted, an error message is displayed that does not clearly explain why the action cannot be performed. When an error message isn't clear, the message typically means that the user does not have the access rights that are required to view or modify the selected object.
To enable limited administrative access
You must perform the following procedure on every workstation where limited administrators use Enterprise Manager to work with object stores.
REGEDT32
TIP After you enable limited administrative access, you can assign appropriate access rights on object store objects to administrators with limited access. You can use the Security Script wizard to assist you with this task. See About the Security Script wizard for more information.
