Setting the maximum size for an index

Set the maximum size for an index based on either the file size of the index or the number of objects indexed. Change the default maximum values if you want to distribute your indexes across multiple index areas or disk partitions for performance reasons.

To set the maximum size for an index:

  1. Working with index area properties. Access the properties for the index area.
  2. Click the General tab.
  3. Enter the maximum number of indexed objects for the Max Objects per Index property.
  4. Enter the maximum index file size for the Max Size per Index property.
  5. Click OK.
