Show an object's hyperlink

You can use the Show Hyperlink action to create a link to a selected document, folder, or custom object. You can find the Show Hyperlink action under More Actions in the Action and pop-up menus.

NOTE  In rare cases your hyperlink will not work correctly from a Microsoft® Office application. When you click the hyperlink, you should be directed to a logon page. After you log on, the document or folder should open. If you do not see the expected document or folder, consult your system administrator. The conditions that cause the problem and the corrective actions are described in a series of articles in the Microsoft Knowledge Base. Refer your system administrator to the following Knowledge Base articles:

Article ID 899927: Describes what causes the link to redirect incorrectly.

Article ID 218153: Describes corrective action that includes creating a new Registry Internet subkey.

On a case by case basis, you can correct the problem by copying the link from the Microsoft Office application and pasting it into the address bar of your browser.

Choosing a link or a web address

Show Hyperlink provides you with a link and the URL, or web address, to the selected object.

Link

Show Hyperlink displays a link to the selected object, using the object's name as the link's display name. Clicking on the link opens the document or folder. You can copy the link and paste it into any document or email.

URL

Show Hyperlink displays the full web address to the selected object. You can copy the web address into your browser's address box, or use it to create a browser bookmark or favorite. You can copy the web address and paste it into a document or email.

When you open a folder's web address in your browser, the folder becomes the new root folder, even if the folder has a parent folder in the object store. You can use the Move Root Folder Up action to redisplay the folder tree, showing the folder's parent folder as the new root folder. You can repeat this action until you reach the object store level.

Select a version or info page for documents

You must specify which version of a document to display. You can select the released or current version, which ensures that the link or web address always points to the released or current version when the document is subsequently modified, or you can select a specific version of a document.

You can also display the link and web address to the document's information page. The information page shows the link and web address for the information page for the current version of the document.
