Implementing server-side scripts and COM objects

You need to convert event handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers in version 3.5.2 of Content Engine to Java classes for version 5.0.0.

As with Content Engine version 3.5.2, in version 5.0.0 you can develop and plug in the following server-side components:
  • event action handlers
  • lifecycle action handlers
  • document classifiers

In Content Engine version 3.5.2 it is necessary to implement these components as COM objects or scripts. In version 5.0.0 they must be implemented as Java classes. Therefore, you must convert any event action handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers that you developed for version 3.5.2 if you want them in version 5.0.0. It is best to develop and test these components in a development environment before you start the upgrade of the production environment to version 5.0.0. For details on developing and deploying event action handlers, lifecycle action handlers, and document classifiers, see the FileNet® P8 FileNet P8 Content Manager Java and .NET Developer's Guide and the Java API Reference.
