The Tools menu provides access to advanced tools, applications you can download, administrative tools, and actions for adding a document or folder. Use the following information to help you learn more about these tools and how they can help you do your work.
NOTE Administrators can restrict access to the tools by setting the Primary Views site preferences to show or hide the page. In addition, administrators can use access roles to restrict access to specific tools when the page is displayed. Using Advanced tools, you can create templates, security policies, workflow subscriptions, and workflows, and store them in an object store.
Menu Option | Description |

Entry Templates | Create or modify entry templates for documents or folders, and declare as record (if Records Manager is enabled). |
Workflow Subscriptions | Create, modify, or delete a workflow subscription based on the class description for a document and folder. |
Security Policies | Create, modify and delete a security policy and the associated security templates. |
Search Designer | Create and modify predefined searches. Java™ Runtime Environment (JRE) must be installed and configured. See Use Java Applets for complete information. |
Process Designer | Create and modify workflow definitions. A workflow definition is a graphical map that specifies the steps, resources, and routing logic of the specific steps needed to complete a business process. JRE must be installed and configured. See Use Java Applets for complete information. |
Process Simulation Console | Manage simulation and scenario documents. |
Process Simulation Designer | Create and modify scenario documents, which specify the resources needed to simulate a business process. |
Form Policies | Create and modify form policy specifications. NOTE This option is displayed if FileNet P8 eForms is installed. |

The administrative tools consist of Site Preferences, Process Administrator, and Process Configuration Console. Descriptions of each are in the table below:
