You assign a publication document's properties on the Properties to Apply tab. The properties are applied to a publication document when a Workplace user publishes a document using the template. Workplace users can retrieve documents using the publication document properties.
By clicking the appropriate radio button, you can:
Use this option if you want the publication document to have the same properties as the source document. Thus, publication documents created using this template could have different properties if the source documents do not all use the same document class.
If you choose this option, Workplace users who know the document class and properties assigned to the source document can easily retrieve the publication document, because the class and properties are identical.
Workplace users can also easily query all of their publication documents if they know the source document's class name, even though the publication documents might reside in multiple folders.
Use this option if you want to specify values that are the same for all publication documents created using this template. Workplace users can retrieve publication documents using the information you type in the property fields, so it is important to enter meaningful values.
You can also use this option to control whether the publication document is read-write or read-only. Choose a versionable document class if you want the publication document to be read-write; choose a non-versionable document class if you want the publication document to be read-only.
The property fields you see depend on the document class selected. Required properties are indicated by a red asterisk (*). For help with multi-value properties, see Enter properties.
