Run the Import Helper

After you have exported objects from an export manifest into export files, you can import those objects into another Content Engine object store. Before you import objects, review the import restrictions.

NOTE  The use of Enterprise Manager or its related command-line tool to create an export manifest, or to export or import objects, is deprecated and it is recommended that you use FileNet Deployment Manager instead for these operations. For more information, see Exporting and importing.

The import function automatically displays objects selected from the import file in the appropriate object nodes under your object store in the navigation tree.

For example, assume that you exported a set of choice lists from an object store on another server. You can then import the XML file that contains those exported choice lists to your local server by using this import function. After you refresh your object store, the choice list is displayed under your object store Choice Lists node.

To import objects from an XML file

  1. In the navigation tree, expand Object Stores.
  2. Right-click object store name and click All Tasks > Import All. The Import Helper opens. This window provides four tabs you can use to choose the import file and options.
  3. Click Import. The system imports the specified objects from the XML file you selected with the Import Helper. This automatically loads these objects into the appropriate object nodes under your object store in the navigation tree.

NOTE   If you added scripts by using the Import Helper, the import utility runs those scripts as defined on the Scripts tab.
  4. (Optional) To view the objects, refresh the object store by performing the following steps:
    1. Expand Object Stores.
    2. Select object store name.
    3. Click Refresh.
