Use Content Engine wizards

A Content Engine wizard displays screens that walk you through an administrative task, such as creating an object store, class, property, or choice list. See Enterprise Manager wizard help for a list of all wizards and tools and how to launch them.

Start Content Engine wizards

You can start a wizard in several ways: from the object store's taskpad, a pop-up menu, or an Action menu.

The following procedures walk you through the common steps for starting a Content Engine wizard.

To start a wizard from the object store taskpad

  1. Click the object store node in the navigation tree.
  2. If the node doesn't display the taskpad view by default, right-click the node in the navigation tree and select View > Taskpad from the menu.
  3. Click the icon that represents the task you want to start. For example, to start the backup wizard from a specific object store node, click the Back Up Object Store icon.

NOTE   Not all wizards are represented in the object store taskpad.

To start a wizard from a pop-up menu

  1. Right-click the node in the navigation tree.
  2. Select New and then select the type of object you want to create. For example, if you're creating a new object store from the Object Stores node, you would select New > Object store.

To start a wizard from the Action menu

  1. Click the node in the navigation tree.
  2. Select Action > New and select the type of object you want to create. For example, if you're creating a new object store from the Object Stores node, you would open the MMC Action menu and select New > Object Store.

Navigate through wizards

Content Engine wizard screens provide navigation buttons that enable you to move from one screen to the next or to move to another wizard or browser. The following table describes the most common navigation buttons.

Next button Moves to the next wizard screen.
Back button Moves to the previous wizard screen.
Browse button Opens the Windows explorer tool that lets you navigate to a file or folder you want to select.
New button Opens another wizard that lets you create objects that you can then add to the current wizard selection list.
Cancel button Closes the current wizard without saving any of your changes.
Finish button Saves the work you performed while using the wizard and closes the current wizard.

Use wizard help

Each Content Engine wizard page provides text below the title bar that briefly describes the kind of information you need to enter or select to complete each particular window. In addition to the wizard navigation buttons, you can click Help to display additional help.
