To start Search Designer, from the Tools menu, click Advanced Tools > Search Designer.
Selecting Search Designer downloads a Java™ applet to your local disk. You will need to respond to two Security Warning dialog boxes that "grant the session" at least the first time. You can grant just one session or grant always so that you do not have to respond to the dialog boxes each time you start Search Designer.
NOTE If you ever click Deny in response to the Java™ applet download, you will not be able to download it until you have closed all instances of your browser.
Always using File > Exit when closing Publishing Designer can prevet you from losing any work. When you use Exit on the File menu to close Publishing Designer, you see a dialog that prompts you to save or cancel. If you close the window using any other means, the program terminates immediately with no opportunity to save. If you were modifying a template, this can leave it in a checked out state, and work you have done is not saved. To continue working with the search when you reopen Search Designer, see Assume a checkout.
Java™ applets do not have scroll bars for the window. Various panels inside the window have scroll bars when applicable. If you make the window so small that some items do not appear, just resize it.
