Draw an arrow
The Draw Arrow tool draws a line with an arrowhead at the beginning point. You can
use the Arrow annotation to point to an area of a graphic. The following examples
show an arrow annotation drawn on an image. The second example shows the toolbar
and resize controls for the annotation.

To draw an arrow
- Click the Arrow drawing tool.
- Mark the beginning and ending points for the line, using one of these methods:
- Click and hold the left mouse button down at the starting point, then
drag the mouse to the ending point while still holding the mouse button
down. Lift up the mouse button at the ending point. The arrowhead is placed
at the beginning point, with the stem of the arrow going to the ending point.
- Click the left mouse button at the starting point for the line, and immediately
release the mouse button. Move the cursor to the ending point, and then
click the left mouse button once again
To select an arrow after drawing it
- Click the Select/edit tool on the annotation toolbar.
- Click on the arrow. This
displays the toolbar you use to adjust the security, line thickness, line
color, or position.
To resize or reorient the entire arrow
- Drag the
pink box outward to lengthen the line.
- Drag the pink box inward to shorten the line.
- To keep one end of the arrow in place, drag the yellow box at the other end. For example, to keep the point at the same position,
drag the yellow box at the end of the line.
- To change the angle of the line, drag one of the yellow boxes to a new position.
To change the line thickness
- Click the Change Line Thickness buttons in the toolbar
to change the thickness of the line and the size of the arrowhead. The arrowhead
is sized proportionally as you resize the line.
To change the arrowhead size
- Click the Change Arrowhead Size buttons in the toolbar
to change the size of the arrowhead without changing the line thickness. You can only decrease the arrowhead after having first increased its size.
To change the line color
- Click the Line Color button to open the Color Picker.
- Select the desired color from the Color Picker.
- Click OK to save the color changes.
To move an annotation
- Click the Select/edit annotation tool on the annotation toolbar.
- Click on the annotation
and hold down the mouse button while you drag the annotation to a new location.
- When the annotation is in the correct location, release the mouse button.
To save your annotation changes
- Click the Save button in the annotation toolbar (at the
left of the Image Viewer window) to save the annotations with the image.
NOTE
The Fix button in the annotation customization
toolbar does not save your changes with the image.
