You can verify the Content Engine system
by using IBM® FileNet® Enterprise Manager to
create a folder and a document in each object store and then check
the new document out and in. You also need to retrieve and view the
contents of an existing document.
To verify the Content Engine installation:
- In Enterprise Manager,
create a subfolder as follows:
- Expand the Object Stores container and
expand the node for the object store.
- Right-click the Root Folder icon,
and select New Sub Folder.
- Enter a folder name and
click Create.
- Choose to view the subfolder
you created.
- Create a document:
- Expand the Root Folder container.
- Right-click the folder name that
you just created, and select New Document.
- Enter the Document Title (for
example, Coffee Bean.bmp), click With
content, and click Next.
- Click Browse/Add to select a
file (for example, C:\WINDOWS\Coffee Bean.bmp),
click Open, and then click Create. Notice that a new document with a containment name matching
the document title you used and a major version of 1 is now in your
folder.
- Check out a document as follows:
- Right-click the document object that you just created
(Coffee Bean.bmp), and select Exclusive
Check Out (Default).
- Navigate to the folder where you want the checked-out
document to reside and click Open. Note
the version number of the document.
- Click Yes to edit the file.
- Make some change to the file and save it.
- Close the application you used to edit the file.
- Check in the document:
- Right-click the document object that you just edited
(Coffee Bean.bmp), and select Check
In.
- In the File Name field, click Browse/Add.
- Select the file that you checked out (Coffee
Bean.bmp), and click Open.
- Click Check In.
- Right-click the document object that
you just checked in, select Properties, and
click the Versions tab of the Properties dialog
box. Notice that the value of the Major Version field has been incremented.
- Retrieve a document and its content:
- a. Navigate to a preexisting document and right-click.
- Select View Document.
- Verify that the content displays correctly.
- Close the application that you used to view the document.
In high availability environments,
verify failover for all nodes in your configuration.- Browse to the Content Engine Startup
Context page:
http://ce_server:port/FileNet/Engine
- Fail one of the Content Engine nodes.
- Verify that you can reload the Startup Context page,
and that you can access your object stores by using Enterprise Manager.
- Restart all nodes that you failed during this test.
