Reindex

Reindexing causes Content Engine to add, update, or replace the indexed data for the selected classes, objects, or collections.

If all collections are to be replaced, the Index Class for Content Search (include subclasses) operation is more efficient.

When an index job replaces collections, it inserts batches of items into new collections. After each batch is inserted, the same set of items is removed from existing collections. When the index job completes, the collections being replaced are deleted.

Content Engine filters out any duplicate CBR query results automatically.

Reindexing can be done at one of the following levels:

See About Indexing for more information.

Class indexing

Class indexing refers to when the CBR Enabled status flag of a class definition (or one of its property definitions) is changed during the current Enterprise Manager session. When you change the CBR Enabled flag, you are also given the option of propagating the changes to all subclasses of the class as well.

To perform class indexing

  1. Change the value of the CBR Enabled property for a given class definition. See Enable CBR for more information.
  2. Right-click on the newly CBR-enabled class and click All Tasks > Index for Content Search (include subclasses). One index job is created to reindex the selected class.

Collection indexing

You can select one or more collections to reindex from the index collections properties tab.

To perform collection indexing

  1. Right-click on the index area that contains the Verity collections you wish to reindex.
  2. Select Properties.
  3. Select the Index Area Collections tab.
  4. Select the collections you want to reindex.
  5. Click Index for Content Search to reindex. One index job is created for each selected collection to reindex the collection.

Single item indexing

Single item indexing refers to index jobs created on folder, document, custom object, and annotation objects.

To perform single item indexing

  1. Right-click on one or more objects that you want to reindex.
  2. Select All Tasks > Index for Content Search. One index job is created to reindex the selected objects.
