Launch step - general properties

The Launch step is the first step in the workflow. The user who launches the workflow completes any tasks specified in this step as part of starting the workflow.

In the properties of the Launch step, specify instructions for the launch user, and any attachments, fields, responses, and routing conditions to start the workflow. In addition, you can assign field values and milestones.

You can rename the Launch step but you cannot change its type, copy it, or delete it.

To specify Launch step properties

  1. On the workflow map, click on the Launch step to select it.
  2. On the General tab (Properties pane)
    • Enter instructions for the user who will launch the workflow.
    • Select the launch processor.

The IBM FileNet-provided step processors are designated in the list with (FileNet). The list of available launch processors might include custom processors if an application developer has created any. If necessary, work with your application developer to determine the appropriate selection. See About step processors for additional information.

TIP The default launch processor, Approval Launch HTML (FileNet), displays any parameters (data fields, attachments, and so on) on the initial page; the other FileNet-provided launch processor, Launch HTML (FileNet), displays parameters on separate pages.

TIP You do not specify a participant for the launch step because any user with appropriate access privileges can launch a workflow.
