Modify properties

Properties for searches

When adding a new search to an object store or when checking in a search you have modified, you will see a prompt to review or update its properties.

  1. Enter a title for a new search or optionally modify the existing title when checking it in. While a title is optional, it will be difficult to locate a particular search without a distinctive name. If you don't assign one, the system will enter a generic name such as "undefined name" or a longer ID such as {DD1690B9-66E4-41CA-8AFF-059E2CBDED92} for the user. Selecting an untitled search in Search Designer displays an icon and a blank title.
  2. You can also enter or modify the description. You can view descriptions of searches when you view the Information page in Workplace or Workplace XT.
  3. When you are finished, do one of the following:
    • Click Next to proceed to security settings
    • Click Finish to complete adding or checking in the search (skips the security page).
    • Click Cancel to abort the Add or Checkin process.
    • Click Back to return to the previous page (for a new search).

You can also see properties if you are opening or checking out a search. After selecting the search, just click The Properties icon in the Select a Search window.

Users with appropriate security can also review or update properties. However, if you have a search checked out, a user's modifications apply to the current version you checked out. When you check in the search, your settings apply to the new version.
