Content Engine provides a set of tools for installation and administration of the server. Additional tools are also provided to assist in the export/import of object store data, the upgrade of Content Engine components, and the deployment of application data.
Content Engine Installation program. Content Engine's installation program places the Content Engine application files on an application server. The installation program ensures successful installation and uninstallation of Content Engine, Enterprise Manager, and client connectivity files. The installation program also offers support for silent installations. After the installation you must configure and deploy the Content Engine application using Configuration Manager.
See Installation Overview for more information.
Configuration Manager. Configuration Manager configures and deploys new or upgraded instances of the Content Engine application on an application server. Configuration Manager generates a unique server profile that contains the properties and values needed for the associated configuration and deployment tasks. Configuration Manager offers a graphical interface, a command line interface, and a silent option.
See Installation Overview for more information.
Enterprise Manager. Enterprise Manager provides access to functions for configuring and administering the FileNet P8 Platform, with a primary focus on Content Engine. Using Enterprise Manager, you can run wizards to carry out common functions such as creating object stores and file storage areas. Enterprise Manager presents property sheets for many domain objects, including object stores, content storage areas, folders, workflow definitions, and documents. It also presents the objects required and created by the Workplace XT and Workplace applications, since the objects are persisted in the Content Engine object store.
Enterprise Manager conforms to the design requirements for a stand-alone Microsoft Management Console (MMC) snap-in. It can therefore be loaded by itself in the MMC console application or into the MMC console along with other administration tools.
Enterprise Manager displays P8 domain objects and resources using a familiar tree interface, with sub-trees that provide an administrator logical access to the domain objects:
See Enterprise Manager for more information.
Publishing tool. The publishing tool includes a service that provides an extensible plug-in framework for transforming documents into HTML format and publishing them for online viewing.
See Publishing for more information.
Export and import tool. The export and import tool is a Windows-only command line tool that provides the same ability to traverse object store relationships as the Enterprise Manager export and import Graphical User Interface (GUI). Also, when used in conjunction with Enterprise Manager, the command line tool can facilitate exporting and importing of a Content Engine object store.
See Import and Export for more information.
Upgrade tool. The upgrade tool provides a GUI for upgrading FileNet P8 3.5 Content Engine components to version 4.0.
