When something goes wrong in a running workflow, a workflow exception occurs. For example, if an empty workflow group is assigned as the participant for a step, a workflow exception will occur when processing reaches that step. When an exception occurs, the work item goes into the Conductor queue.
Using Process Tracker and Process Administrator, a user can examine a running workflow and determine the location and nature of the error. See Resolve workflow errors for a description of some common problems and recommended solutions.
The troubleshooting guide for Process Engine (PE) contains information about installation and configuration problems, and runtime problems for FileNet software.
See the FileNet P8 Platform Troubleshooting Guide. To download this guide from the IBM support page, see Accessing IBM FileNet Documentation.

Note that you can also locate an exception on the workflow map and other areas in the Process Tracker interface.

Process Tracker also has a concept of a step that contains an error and has been either resolved by the user or ignored by the Process Engine. This is sometimes referred to as a PastException . A PastException indicates that an exception has been resolved or ignored. This information is retrieved from the log, not the information stack. The information stack shows only the current exception state of a work object, if any. |
