Complete work

During normal work item processing, work items are locked, modified, and dispatched to the next step. This normal flow of operation does not require system administrator interaction. See About managing workflows for more information.

In some cases, it may be necessary to complete work on behalf of another participant. Before doing so, you must manually perform the actions required to complete the workflow step, such as entering data values or identifying attachments or workflow group participants.

If the work requires a response, you must select one of the available responses.

TIP When an error has occurred and a work item is in the Conductor queue, you can sometimes fix the problem by changing data values (for example, to fix a divide by 0 problem) or specifying missing participants for a step. After you save the changes, you select Complete work to complete the Review step and allow the processing to continue.

CAUTION Modifying a work item in the Delay and InstructionSheetInterpreter system queues can have unexpected consequences. Do so only if directed by your FileNet support representative. In addition, you should not edit fields in the CE_Operations component queue. Note that you cannot complete a work item in the Delay system queue if it is the parent of a child work item. In this case, you can only terminate or delete it.
