Property description (General tab)

The property description shows a static snapshot of the object's metadata. The name of the property and its class appears at the top of the tab.

Symbolic Name
A form of the property name used in code and in queries. This name will not change across locales.
Descriptive Text
A general description of the property.
Settability
A property can have one settability value. In addition, minimum values and maximum length constraints can be set. See the property pages of individual properties.
Cardinality
Whether the property is defined as single value or multi-value.
Data Type
The assigned data type of the property. If the data type is object-valued, the name of the required class is shown.
Required Class
This displays only if the property data type is defined as object-valued. Click the Class Description button to load the Metadata Explorer for that class. The class description specifies the type of object that can be referenced by the object-valued property.
Has Persistence
Whether the property value is saved in the database.
Value Required
If selected, the end user must provide a value for this property. The end user cannot leave blank a property having this attribute or an error results when the class is saved. When you set a value for this property, already-existing instances remain the same and are not affected.
Read Only
Whether the property value is read-only.
Hidden
Provides a hint to the application about whether the property should be displayed to the typical user.
System Generated
If set, the property value is system-generated. If not set, the property value must be provided by the application or user.
System Owned
Whether the property value is system owned.
Selectable
Whether the property can be used in the SELECT clause in a query.
Searchable
Whether the property can be used in the WHERE clause in a query.
Orderable
Whether the property can be used in the ORDER BY clause in a query.
Has Choice List
Whether the property has a choice list associated with it.
