Limit the number of documents and custom objects displayed by folders

In order to help you avoid out-of-memory errors that might arise while Enterprise Manager tries to fetch and display very large numbers of objects in a single folder, Enterprise Manager provides a registry key that limits the display of documents and custom objects. This registry key applies its value individually to Enterprise Manager's Root Folder, to each subfolder in the Root Folder's tree of subfolders, and to the Unfiled Documents folder. Each of these folders will display up to the maximum value. The first time you start Enterprise Manager it will create the registry key with the default value of 5000 objects.

NOTE  This registry key applies only to the folders displayed by the instance of the Enterprise Manager running on the server that contains the key. It does not affect the display of containable objects in Workplace XT or Workplace and related FileNet applications. Setting this key may be particularly useful for applications like FileNet P8 Content Federation Services Server that create large numbers of unfiled documents.

To set or change the maximum number of objects displayed by Enterprise Manager

  1. Close Enterprise Manager.
  2. Use a registry editor to open the registry on the server containing Enterprise Manager.
  3. Open the registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FileNet\ECM\Content Engine\Enterprise Manager\MaxObjectsDisplayed].
  4. Set the value to the desired number and close the registry editor.
  5. Restart Enterprise Manager.
  6. Repeat on any other servers on which Enterprise Manager is installed.

NOTE  To turn off the limit on objects displayed, delete the key described above.
