Create and enable a DITA Rendition Engine connection
Creating a DITA Rendition Engine connection is accomplished using Enterprise Manager.
Starting the Create a DITA Rendition Engine Connection Wizard
- Right-click the domain.
- Choose Properties.
- Select the Publishing tab.
- In the Select DITA Rendition Engine Connection area, click New.
Specify a Site wizard page
Choose a site from a list of available sites that the new DITA Rendition Engine connection is associated with. (The initial default site is also included in this list.)
A site represents a geographical location in the FileNet P8 domain where resources such as server instances are connected by a Local Area Network. Content Engine creates a default site during installation, and there can be multiple sites within a domain.
- Name and Describe the DITA Rendition Engine Connection
wizard page
Ensure that the DITA Rendition Engine connection name is unique and that it does not appear in the Existing Names list.
- Configure the DITA Rendition Engine connection settings:
- DITA Open Toolkit Location - Specify the path of the folder where the DITA Open Toolkit is installed. The path can be a local point, a local path, or a UNC path.
- Working Directory - Specify the path to the working directory where DITA component documents will be downloaded from the Content Engine for publishing using the DITA Open Toolkit. The DITA Open Toolkit processes the DITA documents in this location and places the output file here so it can be picked up and added to the library. The path can be a local mount, a local path, or a UNC path. For best performance, this directory should be a local writeable directory.
NOTE The administrator will need to create a working directory where the Content Engine will have permission to create temporary directories for DITA processing. This directory must be created before publishing and identified as the working directory.
- Processing Timeout - Specify the value, in seconds, that the Publishing Handler should wait for the DITA Open Toolkit to create the rendition output file. Use a value that provides enough time for the largest documents to be rendered. If the rendition is not generated before the timeout period expires, the Publishing Handler assumes that the rendition failed and that the DITA Open Toolkit encountered an error. The default value is 600 seconds.
- DITA JVM Arguments - Specify the command line arguments to pass to the Java Virtual Machine (JVM) that runs the DITA Open Toolkit. (The DITA Open Toolkit is written in Java). JVM arguments can specify the Java CLASSPATH, system property values, larger memory settings (for better performance when processing large documents), and more.
Clicking Create Connection uses the defined DITA Rendition Engine connection settings to make a new connection. Otherwise, click Next to proceed to the summary page and verify all of your entered information.
