Create a simple search or search template
Create a new query using Content Engine's Query Builder, which is loaded
from the Search Results node of the object store
you want to search.
To create a new search
- Select and right click the object store's Search
Results node.
- Select New Search to create a new search.
The Content Engine Query Builder opens.
- On the View menu, Click Simple
View. Again on the View menu, click
Search Mode or Template
Designer Mode.
- In the Select from Table field, click the
down arrow to drop-down the list of all searchable class types, including
custom classes. Select the class you want to search.
NOTE
The essential part of any search using the Query Builder is that you
start with a single class. This presupposes you know the class of the
objects you need to find.
- In the Select Columns list box, select the
columns you want included in the search results:
- Clear the asterisk (*) selection (unless you want to
include all columns).
- Scroll through this list to review the columns available
for the selected database table.
- Select only those columns you want included in the query
result.
- In the Criteria box, set up the conditions you want to use as your search
criteria.
- If you are in Template Designer mode, in
the View column select the Criteria you want to be prompted for
- In the Criteria Grouping box, select whether you want the search to find
your objects that match both (AND) or either (OR) of the corresponding conditions
defined.
- Click OK to start the search. Any results
will appear under the Search Results node.
See Content Engine Query Builder (Query
Builder tab) for more information on how to use the Query Builder.
