Set the object's properties

The Set Properties step preselects a class based upon the type of object being created, and displays the associated properties.

To define the preset property values for a new object

  1. (Optional) Click Change Class to select a new class. You can select only a class to which you have the necessary access rights. The selected class determines the properties associated with the object to be added, and cannot be changed by the entry template user.
  2. (Optional) Click Order Class properties to change the order in which the properties are displayed in the entry template.
  3. Select the Required check box next to the property name If the user must enter a value for a property.
  4. In the Default Value field, type any preset value. To use the new document's filename as the default document title, enter {FILENAME} in the Document Title property field.
  5. Select the Access Level for each property. The access level determines what the end user can do with a property when adding an object.
  6. Specify whether to add the object as a parent document.
  7. Specify whether to add the object as a major version.
  8. Specify whether users see the Set Properties wizard page when adding a new object.
  9. To automatically determine property values by analyzing a document's content, select the Yes, auto classify the content on entry and use base Document Class by default check box.
  10. Choose whether to use the entry template for subsequent checkins. Select the Yes, use entry template for checkin check box to use the entry template. Subsequent checkins always use the latest version of the entry template. If the entry template is deleted, the basic checkin wizard is used.
