Storage area properties (Configuration tab)
The storage area property sheet's Configuration tab allows you to view and
modify the following values:
- Online
- If selected, indicates the storage area is online. You cannot save or modify
content if the storage area is off line.
- Allows new content
- If selected, users can add new content to the storage area. To prevent new
content from being added, clear the check box.
NOTE If
you reset this property, you must restart the File Store Service for the
change to take effect.
- Allows delete
- If selected, users can delete documents containing content elements from
the storage area. When deletion is allowed, Content Engine uses the specified
Delete method. To reset this value so the storage area does not allow users to delete content-bearing documents, clear the
check box. The storage area then acts as a permanent archive.
- Indexed
- This option displays whether the selected storage area is configured for content-based
indexing.
- Allows content cached
- If selected, documents stored in the storage area are eligible for content
caching. To prevent the server's cache service from copying documents
from the selected storage area into cache, clear this check box.
NOTE If
you select this option after deselecting it, the Content Engine Service delays
caching until after the system refreshes the storage area which take up to
30 minutes.
- Delete method
- Choose the method that will be used when deleting content-bearing documents
from the storage area. Applies only when the Allows
delete option is enabled.
- Non-recoverable: Renames the deleted file, making it irretrievable
by its original file name. You may still recover the deleted file using
a file system utility (such as Norton Utilities) if the space in which
the renamed file resides has not been overwritten with another file.
- Destructive: Overwrites document content with zeros before deletion.
Provides the deletion level recommended for clearing and sanitizing media
that is less than top-secret.
- Purge: Overwrites file content three times before deleting the
document. Provides the highest level of deletion recommended for purging
top-secret documents.

support for Centera delete methods.
