WebSphere Business Monitor integration

You can use IBM WebSphere Business Monitor to monitor active BPM processes, as well as processes on a WebSphere Process Server. BPM software includes a CBE Adaptor, a basic BPM Monitor Model, and some basic dashboard views that you configure and deploy to the WebSphere Application server and WebSphere Business Monitor server.

The illustration below shows the main components of the integration.

Integrate P8 BPM with WebSphere Business Monitor

Use the following general steps to integrate P8 BPM with WebSphere Business Monitor

  1. Enable Process Analyzer (PA) on the Process Engine server using the following steps. (These steps enable integration of Process Engine with other applications, including Process Analyzer and WebSphere Business Monitor. Process Analyzer is not used with WebSphere Business Monitor.)
    1. In Process Configuration Console, select the appropriate VWServices and click Properties.
    2. On the Runtime Options tab, enable Process Analyzer.

For additional information, see Set runtime options (for VWServices) in the online help for Process Configuration Console.

  2. Deploy the CBE Adaptor.

Deploy the BPM CBE Adaptor to the WebSphere Business Monitor Server.

  3. Import and edit the monitor model using WID.

BPM software includes a basic monitor model and associated event definitions. Import the monitor model into the WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) to configure additional metrics (including user defined fields), data mart, key performance indicators (KPIs), and alert events.

  4. Deploy the monitor model.

Deploy the monitor model to the WebSphere Business Monitor Server, so the WebSphere Monitor is ready to monitor P8 BPM workflow events.

  5. Import and configure the dashboard views to view the data.

Use the Dashboard to view the analytical results. The BPM software includes a sample dashboard that you can customize, or you can create your own.

These help topics address the integration of BPM with the WebSphere Business Monitor; they does not provide an in-depth discussion of the WebSphere Business Monitor software. For more information, refer to the WebSphere Business Monitor and WebSphere Integration Developer (WID) documentation.
