Configure IBM FileNet P8 Platform components to start automatically

You can configure most IBM FileNet P8 Platform components to start automatically when the related server or server process is started. The sections below discuss configuring various P8 components to start automatically based on the utility most commonly used to start them.

To automatically start:

Windows Services Console

To configure P8 components that run as Windows services to start automatically

  1. Open the Windows Services console by selecting Start > Programs > Administrative Tools > Services from the Start menu.
  2. Right-click on the service and select Properties to open the Properties dialog box.
  3. Select Automatic from the Startup type drop-down list.
  4. Click OK.

Process Task Manager

NOTES

To configure Process Task Manager components to start automatically

  1. Start Process Task Manager.
  2. Select a FileNet P8 Platform component from the feature pane.
  3. In the properties pane, check Automatically started (Windows) or Allow automatic startup from command line (UNIX).
    Windows UNIX

If you select the Automatically started option, the process:

    • Automatically starts when you restart the server where Process Task Manager is running.
    • Automatically starts when you start the associated service using the Windows Services utility. (The name of the service is <component> Services Manager, where <component> is the name of the P8 component where Process Task Manager is running.)

Stopping a process is not affected by the Automatically started option. All processes controlled by Process Task Manager are automatically stopped if you stop the service using the Windows Services console.

Process Task Manager, when started from the command line, starts all processes that have the Allow automatic startup from command line option checked. When stopped from the command line, Process Task Manager stops all processes (regardless of the Allow automatic startup from command line option).
  4. Click Apply.

Process Configuration Console

  3. Right-click the appropriate component queue and select Properties to open the Properties dialog box.
  4. Select the Adapters tab.
  5. In the Startup Mode field, select Automatic.
  6. Click OK.
