Add a template to an object store
To make a publish template available to Workplace users, you add it to
a folder in an object store. You can add the template at any time after
you select the object store and destination folder.
- Choose Add New from the File menu
or click the Add New
button
on the toolbar.
- On the Add a Publish Template to an Object Store dialog, click Browse
to choose a storage location (folder) for the publish template. The
Select a Folder dialog displays the same object store you selected on
the Publish Instructions tab.
- Open the object store by double-clicking on it, or by highlighting
it and clicking Open.
- Navigate to the folder in which you want to place
the publish template by selecting an item in the list and clicking Open,
or by double-clicking items in the list.
If you want to back up to a higher level, use the pull-down menu
in the Look in drop-down box or the
Up One Level button.
You can also create a new folder for your template using the Add
New Folder button
(see To add a new folder below).
Select a folder for the publish template that the intended users
can access. The users must be able to browse to the template
to select it. The folder last selected is displayed in the Folder
field and is used if you do not choose a different location.
- Click Select when the proper folder
is highlighted.
- Click Next.
- On the Publish Template Properties dialog, enter a title and description
to help users locate the template later. Both the Document Title and
the Description are optional. However, if you do not enter a document
title, the Workplace user sees "undefined name." Anyone
who is attempting to check out the template for modification later
sees an icon with no name.
These properties are the publish template's properties, not the properties
of the publication document. See the Update
publish template properties topic for more information.
- Click the Next button to check or set
security for the template. If you know the default security is appropriate,
you can skip it and click Finish now.
- On the Security Settings dialog, check the security
settings and update them if necessary before clicking the Finish
button.
These security settings control access to the publish template itself,
not the publication documents. See About
security and its subtopics for more information.
- Test the template by logging
on as a Workplace user and using the template to publish documents.
Verify that new publication documents and republished documents have
the correct location, properties, and security, and that they are deleted
and replaced as specified in the template.
To add a new folder
When selecting a folder in which you want to save a template, you might
want to create a new folder.
- On the Add a Publish Template to an Object Store dialog, navigate
to the object store or folder where you want to add a folder
- Click the Add New Folder button
at the top of the dialog.
- Choose a class for the folder. Click the Browse
button to select a class other than the default Folder Class. Different
classes probably display different properties.
- Enter at least the required property data (indicated by a red asterisk
*) and click Next. For help with
properties with multiple values, see Enter properties.
- Review or update the security on the folder and click Finish.
You can now finish saving the template as described above (Step
4).
