Web Services Explorer

Use the Web Services Explorer dialog box to locate Web Services to invoke in a workflow. The Web Services can be either in public or private WSRR or UDDI registries, or in FileNet workflows that contain a Receive step in the current isolated region.

  1. If the Web Services Explorer dialog box is not open, select Workflow Properties on the Process Designer toolbar, and display Web Services > Partner Links. Click Web Services Explorer to the right of the WSDL URL box.
  2. Do one of the following depending on the location of the Web Service.

To locate a Web Service in a WSRR registry or a UDDI registry

    1. In the Web Services Explorer dialog box, select the appropriate registry type, WSRR registries or UDDI registries, and then open the desired registry in the left pane.

NOTE  The left pane displays only WSRR or UDDI registries previously defined using Process Configuration Console. See WSRR Registry list or UDDI Registry list for additional information.

    2. For WSRR, select the registry, and then enter either the exact name of the Web Service, or enter the first few letters and an asterisk (*) wildcard. (You can also enter an * to get the entire list.)
Click Execute to display matching items.

Note that web services published from all isolated regions will display.

For UDDI, select Business list or WSDL tModel list, and then enter the first few letters of the business name or WSDL tModel name.
Click Execute to display matching items.

    3. Select the Web Service you want in the returned list, and then click OK to extract the WSDL information to the Partner Links table.

TIP If you define a new WSRR or UDDI registry or publish a workflow to one of these registries in Process Configuration Console, you can update the list in the Process Designer Web Services Explorer dialog box by right-clicking on the appropriate item (the root node, the name of a registry, or an individual item) and selecting Refresh.

To locate Web Services in FileNet workflows in the current isolated region

    1. In the Web Services Explorer dialog box, select Web Services workflows.
    2. Enter the first few letters of the service name or leave the Name field empty, and then click Execute.
    3. Select the Web Service you want in the returned list.
    4. Click OK to extract the WSDL information to the Partner Links table.

TIP To invoke web services in FileNet workflows that are in different regions, you can either enable a UDDI repository in the isolated region where the web service exists, or publish the workflow to a WSRR or UDDI registry. See UDDI repository for the isolated region, Publish Web Services to WSRR, and Publish Web Services to UDDI for additional information.
