Start and stop a Process Engine server
Use Process Task Manager
to start and stop Process Service on a Process Engine (PE) server.
CAUTION If
your Windows server
is configured as a cluster, you must use the appropriate cluster administration
tool (the Microsoft Cluster Administrator or the Oracle Fail Safe Manager) rather
than Process Task Manager
or other Process Service
tools to start, stop, and restart the Process Service
software.
Failure to stop Process Service using the cluster administration tools will initiate a fail-over
reaction from the cluster service.
NOTES
- Changes to the PE global properties require that all servers in the farm be restarted. When prompted, you can choose to restart all servers automatically or to restart the servers manually at a later time.
- If you choose to restart the servers automatically, you can optionally specify the interval at which the servers in the farm are restarted. Use this interval if you want to ensure that at least one PE server is available for processing at all times.
- If you choose to restart the servers at a later time, the Servers folder indicates that changes are pending until the server is restarted.
- Restarting a PE server automatically turns off all trace options set using the vwtool trace command.
To start a PE server
- Select the PE server you want to start.
- To enable automatic startup of this process when the server is restarted, select the Automatically started (Windows) or Allow automatic startup from command line (UNIX) checkbox. See Configure FileNet P8 Platform components to start automatically for more information.
NOTE The first time you enable automatic startup on a Windows-based PE server with a local database, you must take the additional steps described in Configure Process Service for automatic startup.
- Click Start on the toolbar.
To stop a PE server
- Select the PE server you want to stop.
- Click Stop on the toolbar.
