Storage area properties (Fixed tab)
The storage area Fixed tab appears only on property sheets belonging to fixed
storage areas.
- Fixed Content Device
- Identifies the name of the fixed content device that has been associated
with the fixed storage area.
- Staging Area Path
- Identifies the dedicated file storage area associated with the fixed storage area. The staging area is created automatically when the fixed storage area is created
- Default retention period
- Select one of the settings for retention period. Content whose retention
period has not yet expired cannot be deleted. Your selection will override
the fixed content device's own retention setting.
Note that the expiration date only indicates when content can be deleted;
it does not carry out the deletion.
NOTE Any changes made to the file storage area properties Fixed tab only apply to new content.

IBM Content Integrator
An IBM Content Integrator system is added to a P8 system as a federated component. By adding a Content Integrator system in a federated configuration you can access information that has been collected, managed, and stored on a different system. Use the Add a Fixed Content Device wizard from within EM to add these components to the system, even though federated components are very different functionally than traditional fixed content devices. For more information, see Content Federation Services overview.
IBM Content OnDemand
An IBM Content OnDemand system is added to a P8 system as a federated component. By adding a Content OnDemand system in a federated configuration you can access information that has been collected, managed, and stored on a different system. Use the Add a Fixed Content Device wizard from within EM to add these components to the system. For more information, see Content Federation Services overview.
