Backup and restore

Content Engine's data resides in the following areas:

You can safely back up any of these data areas while Content Engine is online and fully operational. You should also back up their directory service provider as part of their normal backup schedule.

Content cross-check tool

There is no way to perform a completely synchronized online backup of both Content Engine's object store database (which describes documents) and the files in a file storage area (which contains the actual content files). Therefore, Enterprise Manager provides a cross-check feature that will find inconsistencies between these two areas following the restoration of an object store database and/or file storage area. Note that synchronized backups can be performed while the object store is offline.

Backup and restore using third-party utilities

To create comprehensive backups that encompass the types of data listed above, you will use a third-party vendor's backup utility. The tool you choose must be capable of backing up and restoring all Content Engine-related data on Content Engine servers, databases, file storage areas, and directory service providers.
