This section describes how to start up and shut down each IBM FileNet P8 Platform component. In each component topic, you will find graphical user interface (GUI)- and command-line-based instructions. The GUI and command-line instructions can be used separately or mixed as desired. You can use the command-line instructions to create a simple batch file to start and stop each P8 component. On Windows platforms with Microsoft Windows Resource Kit installed, you can utilize the Service Control (sc.exe) application to stop and start services remotely on some of the component servers.
The FileNet P8 Platform components are interdependent, although most components do not require other components to be running in order to start successfully. Refer to IBM FileNet P8 component relationships to determine the optimum order for starting up and shutting down your system components.
The FileNet P8 Platform components use a variety of utilities during startup and shutdown. See Utilities used during startup and shutdown for detailed instructions for the most commonly used utilities.
Most component processes can be configured to start automatically when the related server or server process is started. See Configure FileNet P8 Platform components to start automatically for more information.
