System step - rules

When business rules are used in a workflow, you can assign appropriate rule sets to a system step. See About rules for additional information.

NOTE  The Rules tab is not available when you use a specific predefined step for one of the system functions—for example, an Invoke step from the Web Services step palette. To specify rules for a system function, use a system step with the desired system function.

To specify rules for a system step

  1. Select the appropriate system step, then select the Rules tab in the Properties pane.
  2. On the Rules tab, specify the Type—when the rule will execute at runtime.
  3. On the Rule Sets bar, click Add.
  4. In the Rule Set Selection dialog box, select one or more rule sets for this step. See Rule set selection for additional information.
