Configure Process Engine server general properties
Use the General tab to configure the general properties for the Process Engine (PE) server.
The General tab includes these fields:
Name | Description |
---|---|
IP address |
The IP address of the local PE server. NOTE If you change the IP address, FileNet recommends that you back up the PE configuration files. You can safely change a servers IP address without affecting PE, provided the following rules are observed:
For instructions on changing your servers IP address, see the documentation for your server platform. |
Number of VWKs processes |
Sets the number of VWKs server processes to run on the PE server. The default is five processes. The main purpose of having multiple VWKs processes is to take advantage of multiple processors. Each VWKs process consumes approximately 6 to 8 MB of memory on the PE server. FileNet recommends 1.5 to 2 VWKs processes per CPU. For example, a single-CPU system should configure the PE server for two VWKs processes; a quad-CPU system should configure six to eight VWKs processes. If all VWKs processes are processing other requests, PE queues new incoming requests and waits for an available process. If you lower the current setting for this option, PE removes each VWKs process as soon it completes the current request, until the number of processes equals the setting. |
