Administering multiple FileNet P8 domains
You can administer multiple FileNet P8 domains from a single instance of Enterprise Manager. In addition to being able to switch to another domain without logging off Enterprise Manager, you can create and locally store a list of frequently-used domains by adding them to a list of preconfigured domains which are presented at logon when Enterprise Manager is first launched.
The procedures that follow describe how you would switch to another domain and edit the list of preconfigured domains.
NOTE You must log off the current domain in order to switch to another domain.
To switch to a different domain
- From the root node of Enterprise Manager's tree view, select All Tasks > Select Domain by either right-clicking over the domain node, or accessing the Action menu.
- A warning message appears stating that you are about to log off the current domain. Click Yes to continue with the procedure.
- The Enterprise Manager Logon screen appears with a list of preconfigured domains.
- Select the designed domain and click Connect.
To add a domain to the preconfigured list of domains
- From the Enterprise Manager logon screen, click Add to open the Enterprise Manager - Add Domain dialog box.
- Provide the information that identifies the server URL and the optional account information to access the domain.
This information (including the account information, if provided) is stored in an XML file. Note that the password is encrypted for security purposes. However, if the account information is not provided, then a connection dialog box requesting the account name will be displayed before a connection is made to the domain. The account information entered in this dialog box is not added to the XML file and will have to be entered again upon return to the domain logon screen.
- Click OK to add the domain information to the list of domains.
- An entry corresponding to the just-configured domain is now available from the Enterprise Manager logon dialog box.
To edit an existing domain in the preconfigured list of domains
- From the Enterprise Manager logon screen, choose a domain entry and click Edit to open the Enterprise Manager - Edit Domain dialog box. In this dialog box, the Domain field is read-only.
- Edit the information that identifies the server URL and optional Account information to access the domain.
- Click OK to update the domain entry with the new information and save it to the list of domains.
To remove an existing domain from the preconfigured list of domains
- From the Enterprise Manager logon screen, choose a domain entry and click Remove.
- A warning message appears stating that you are about to remove the selected domain settings. Click OK to remove the domain entry from the list of preconfigured domains.
