Migrate Process Routers

FileNet P8 Platform uses Process Engine connection points, rather than the Process Routers used in previous versions of the software, to specify the Process Engine server and isolated region to be used by a workflow application. You configure and manage connection points using Enterprise Manager on a Content Engine server.

After you upgrade to the current FileNet P8 Platform software, Process Task Manager detects if you have Process Routers configured and prompts you to configure the corresponding connection points.

To migrate Process Routers to connection points

On the Process Engine or Application Engine server, use Process Task Manager to:

  1. View the general properties of each Process Router. For each, make a note of the following properties:
    • Process Router name
    • Process Engine
    • Isolated region
  2. Delete each Process Router. You can do this immediately, or wait until the corresponding connection points are created. The Process Routers displayed in Process Task Manager are not used and have no affect on the system, other than to cause a warning message on Process Task Manager startup. Once all Process Routers are deleted and Process Task Manager is restarted, the Process Router node no longer appears. To delete a Process Router:
    1. Select the Process Router you want to delete.
    2. Select Delete from the Action menu.
On a Content Engine server, use Enterprise Manager to:

  1. Identify an isolated region for each unique Process Engine and isolated region combination. (If you have more than one Process Router pointing to the same Process Engine and isolated region combination, you will identify only one Process Engine Region ID.)

    DNS name Process Engine

  2. Create a Process Engine connection point for each Process Router.
