Value columnEntering valuesIf the property has pre-assigned values, you can select them from a drop-down list in the Value column. Often, you must type the value into this field. Select date properties from a pop-up calendar and you select users from a pop-up dialog box. Using wildcard charactersWhen typing values you can use wildcard characters, provided you follow these rules:
Here are some additional wildcard formats: mchan_ finds mchan1 and mchant, but not
mchan Pasting textYou can paste text into the Value column. The source of the pasted text can be another text field or the operating system's clipboard. Text field data can be copied from Search Designer and pasted into other applications. You cannot copy and paste entire rows into text fields nor into the operating system's clipboard, but you can paste one row into another row in the search criteria. NOTE Due to the large number of international formats, pasting dates and times into the Value field is not supported. Users and DatesWhen selecting Dates or Users from the Value column, you need to click a cell in the Value column. The Ellipsis icon in the Value column appears and allows you to view the Calendar dialog box or Search Criteria - Select User dialog box. Each dialog box provides more options to customize the dates or users you want to include in your search criteria. To specify usersYou specify users in the Value column using the Search Criteria - Select User dialog box. This dialog box allows you to specify search criteria that locates users quickly. This eliminates the time consuming process of scrolling through many names when adding a user. Click the Ellipsis icon to view this dialog box.
When using a date property, you must select the date from the pop-up calendar. Click the Ellipsis icon in the Value column to display the calendar. The calendar opens with the current date and no time. NOTE You can also use key commands to access the pop-up calendar. Use your arrow keys to go to the table cell that contains the Ellipsis icon in the Value column. Press your spacebar to select it, press Ctrl+Tab, and then press the spacebar again to display the calendar. See more information on using key commands to navigate in the calendar.
You can start over (or just delete a previous date and time) by clicking Clear All. After clearing the date, clicking the up or down triangle beside the date field sets it to the current date. NOTE The upper limit on a date you can enter is 12/30/9999. Properties with multiple valuesIf the property you chose can have multiple values, and you want to search for more than one of those values, enter a new property condition for each value. |
