Server configuration backup

In the case of a hardware malfunction or other unexpected problem, it might be necessary to completely restore an IBM FileNet P8 component server. You can restore a server in many ways, for example, from a "ghost" image or by reinstalling the server software. If the server does not contain a database that must be restored, all that might be left to do is to restore any configuration changes that might have been made since the server was backed up.

Many of the P8 component servers contain configuration files customized for your site. While most of the configuration files can be easily recreated by reinstalling the component software or reconfiguring the restored installation, you can simplify the recovery process by restoring the configuration files from a backup copy. This section lists the configuration files for each component, so that you can tailor your backup schedule to fit your needs.
