Define the connection to an environment

To define or edit the connection parameters for an environment:

  1. In the P8 Deployment Tree View panel, right-click the environment and then click Open.
  2. Complete the following fields on the P8 Connection tab to define the URL for Content Engine in this environment:

    Field Description
Connection Select the protocol to be used to connect to this environment.
Application Server Select the application server used for Content Engine in this environment.
Server Type the name of the server on which Content Engine resides.
Port Select or type the communication port number for the application server.
Path Type the relative path to the Web Service Interface endpoint for Content Engine. By default, the path is set to wsi/FNCEWS40DIME.
  3. In the Username field, type the user name for the account that is to be used to connect to this environment.
  4. If you have set preferences to enable saving the password, type the password for the account in the Password and Confirm Password fields.

If you have not enabled saving the password, you will be prompted to enter a password the first time FileNet Deployment Manager connects to Content Engine. For more information, see About passwords.
  5. If you have enabled saving the password and you want the password saved in the configuration file, select the Save the password check box.
  6. Click Test Connection.

If FileNet Deployment Manager can establish a connection using the specified parameters, the message "Successfully connected" appears in the text box immediately below the Test Connection button.
