FileNet P8 Content Search Engine

FileNet P8 Content Search Engine provides search and indexing capability for Content Engine. All FileNet P8 clients, such as Workplace, communicate with Content Search Engine through Content Engine, which manages the search operations and the creation and deletion of indexes.

The results of a CBR query are returned in an ordered set or rows. The results are also ranked according to the closeness of fit with the search. The method by which the ranking is determined is dependent upon the query and the operators used in the full-text clause (the WHERE clause) of the query. A "Rank" property is returned for each match and it has a value between 0.0 and 1.0. The higher numbers closer to 1.0 are the better matches.

Language support
Content Search Engine can index and search numerous languages. However, the indexes and searches for any given object store can use one language only. You specify the language the first time you configure the object store for CBR.
Document types
Content Search Engine supports indexing and searching of many different document types, including Microsoft Word documents, PDF files, ASCII text files, and many others. See the Verity documentation for specific information.
Platforms
Content Search Engine supports .NET and Java™ programming platforms and supports Windows, Linux, HP-UX, AIX, and Solaris operating systems.
Security
Content Search Engine users can authenticate to all repositories and applications they are authorized to access with a single logon, eliminating the need to log on to applications each time they are used. In addition, users can log on to Content Search Engine with their existing LDAP, NT Domain, and UNIX user name and password, so administrators do not have to maintain separate security lists. Content Search Engine also delivers Verity Collection-level and document-level security by integrating seamlessly with the native security models.
