You must log on to FileNet P8 before you can access documents from an integrated office application. This topic explains how to log on and off, how to set or change the Web address to a server, and how to access the FileNet P8 documentation from an integrated office application.
You start logging into FileNet P8 by first choosing an action, such as adding a document or browsing for a document from within an integrated Microsoft® Office application or Outlook. The Logon dialog box appears and you enter your user name and password. You must log onto FileNet P8 before you can access documents in an object store. Once you are logged on, you remain logged on until you close the integrated office application.
To log onto FileNet P8
In the Logon dialog box, enter your user name and password. If your administrator has configured single-sign on capability, where your Windows login information is used to log on to FileNet P8, you won't see this dialog box.
NOTE After you log in and if you are using Workplace XT, you can also configure single-sign on capability by clicking Set Workplace XT Address from the File > IBM FileNet Workplace XT or Add-Ins menus. Select Server uses single sign on.
Application Integration BCS
Your site administrator entered the Web address when Application Integration BCS was installed. If information is missing, contact your site administrator for help.
Application Integration
If you didn't specify a Workplace or Workplace XT Web address during the installation process when you installed Application Integration, you must enter the server name, port number, and application name that define the Workplace or Workplace XT address. The server name is the name of the Web server running Workplace or Workplace XT, port number is the port assigned to the Web server, application is the directory where you deployed the Workplace or Workplace XT application. The application name is determined by your site administrator. If you have problems entering the correct information, contact your site administrator.
For subsequent logons, the Web address remains hidden. Click Options to view or change the Web address.
Select Server uses secure connection (SSL) if you use a secure server running SSL to authenticate logins, or if you are running full SSL to encrypt all communication with Workplace or Workplace XT.
To log off from a server
If your Office applications are integrated using Application Integration BCS, you do not need to log off.
During the installation process, you or your site administrator might have specified the Web address to which you want to connect. Each time you begin a new session, you must enter your user name and password in the Logon dialog box. However, if you did not supply the Web address at install time or you need to change this information in the Logon dialog box or from the Add-Ins menu, follow the steps below.
To change the host Web server
NOTE If you are using Application Integration BCS, contact your site administrator for the information you need to enter in the provided fields. Entering incorrect information could prevent you from logging into FileNet P8.
You can access online help when you access an application's Help and Add-ins menu or IBM ECM tab.
