Create a route between steps

A route determines where the work will be sent when the processing of the step is complete. If there is one route from a step, that route will always be taken. If there is more than one route from a step, the decision for which route to take can be based on one or a combination of the following:

See About routing for additional information.

To create a route between two steps

  1. On the workflow map, check that an origin step and one or more destination steps exist on the map. (In the illustration below, Step A is an origin, and CallSubmap A is a destination.)

  2. Point to the edge of the origin step until the route symbol displays on the cursor.
  3. Press the left mouse button and drag onto a destination step, then release the button.

The newly created route displays as a red arrow from the origin step to the destination step.

  4. In the Properties pane, enter a name for the route and specify any route conditions. See Specify route properties.
  5. If there is more than one possible route from the step, repeat steps 2 through 4 for each route.
