This guide shows you how to customize the FileNet P8 Workplace application. Customizing out-of-the-box UI's and behaviors can be performed by administrators. Such activities include changing UI labels, redefining actions associated with an object type, filtering classes that appear in the Add or Checkin wizards, and setting query criteria that appear in the Search page — all performed by simply modifying configuration files.
On the other hand, adding functionality to Workplace, or integrating other applications with it, is a development activity. For example, programming is required to plug in a new Information page, to implement a single sign-on mechanism across Web applications, or to customize the default toolbar in an FileNet P8 eForms-based workflow.
