Delete a storage area
CAUTION You should never delete a storage area unless
you have already copied, backed up, or moved its content. Deleting a storage area with
existing content could damage files which access that content. As a result, you
will no longer be able to access, check out, check in, or delete these
files that are no longer accessible through the API, Enterprise Manager, Workplace, and so on. For information on how to restore a deleted file storage area or recover damaged
files, see Restore
Content Engine.
Deleting a storage area removes its entry from the object store,
making it no longer available to Enterprise Manager, Workplace, or any
other applications written with a FileNet P8 API. However, deleting a storage area
does not delete the actual directories or files from the
physical storage area on the server.
NOTE You cannot delete a storage area
- if it is set
as the default storage area for a class.
- if it is the only storage area assigned to a storage policy, and that storage policy is set as the default storage policy for a class.
- if the storage area is set as a default storage area for any class definitions. Enterprise Manager displays a list of classes that reference this storage area and does not allow you to delete it.
- if the storage area is the only storage area assigned to a storage policy, and that storage policy is set as the default storage policy for any class definitions. Enterprise Manager displays a list of classes that are referencing this storage policy and does not allow you to delete the storage area.
To delete a storage area
