When declaring a record, you could see slightly different pages depending upon how you are declaring it and the kind of records management system you use. If any of the object stores on your system use the DoD Chapter 4 data model, you will first need to choose between declaring a classified or an unclassified record, even if the object store you use does not use DoD Chapter 4. If you select unclassified, you can select an entry template. If you select classified, an additional step allows you to specify the classification parameters. If your system does not have any DoD Chapter 4 object stores, you will not see the choices for classified or unclassified.
On a system with DoD Chapter 4 object stores, select either Declare an unclassified record or Declare a classified record.
On systems that do not use DOD Chapter 4, you see only a link that you click to select an entry template.
If you selected Declare Versions as Record, there is a list of versions from which you can select. Without such a list, you are declaring only the version you see in the path.
To select versions
NOTE If you select a version that is already declared, you will get an error when you click Accept. If this happens, click Return on the error message. When you return, the already declared versions is deselected. You can click the Get Info icon of every version to find out if it has been declared prior to clicking Accept, or simply let the error processing clear the appropriate versions for you.
After completing all selections, click Accept to go to the next step of the declaration process. What you see depends upon the selected template or wizard. Click Help on that screen, if needed.
