Workflow properties - maps

Use the Maps tab in the Workflow Properties dialog box to create and manage maps in the current workflow definition.

Your IBM FileNet license agreement determines the level of functionality that you see in Process Designer. As a consequence, some of the options described here might not be available for your system. See your system administrator for more information.

To create and manage workflow maps

  1. If the Workflow Properties dialog box is not open, select the Action menu, then select Workflow Properties and display the Maps tab.

All maps in the current workflow definition are listed, including the workflow main map, any user-defined submaps, and the Terminate and Malfunction system maps.

An Inherited symbol indicates a map inherited from a base workflow or an inherited system map.
An Overridden symbol indicates an inherited map that has been overridden.

See Workflow Preferences - Workflow to hide inherited items.

  2. On the Maps tab, you can perform the following tasks:
    • To delete a map, select the name in the table, then click Delete.

NOTES  You can delete any editable map, including the workflow main map. You cannot delete an inherited map. If you have overridden an inherited map by creating a map of the same name in the current workflow definition, deleting the overriding map will reactivate the inherited map.

If you delete the workflow main map, the main map of the base workflow (if any) will be reactivated in the current workflow. If the current workflow definition has no base workflow, the workflow main map will contain only the Launch step.

    • To check which maps call a particular submap, select a map, then click Map Usage.

TIP You can choose to override IBM FileNet-supplied maps, such as Malfunction, to define custom processing for system functions, such as exception handling. See About system maps for additional information.
