Complete work

Use the Complete Work dialog box to complete a work item in someone else's place without opening the step processor. You can also use the Complete Work dialog box to complete multiple work items for the same step at the same time. In doing so, you should perform all of the actions required to complete the work item at this stage; however, you are not required to do so. The actions can include entering data field values, identifying attachments, or specifying workflow group participants.

To complete a work item

  1. From the Tasks menu, select Complete Work.
  2. Select a step from Step list. Process Tracker only lists steps that have active work items. In addition, Process Tracker does not display steps associated with queues to which you are denied access.

In the Work Queue box, Process Tracker displays the name of the associated work queue, or Inbox if the work item is in a user queue.

  3. The Participants list, select one or more of the work items from the list.
    • If a work item is assigned to a work queue, the name of the queue displays in square brackets.
    • If a work item is assigned to a participant, the name of the user displays.
    • If a work item is locked by a user other than the one to whom it is assigned, the name of that user displays in parentheses.
  4. If the step requires a response, the possible responses appear in the Response list. Select one from the responses from the list.
  5. You can optionally enter comments in the Enter comments box. You can add (append) to or replace the current comments.
  6. Click OK or Apply.

TIP Use the Complete Work option when you have several work items to process, and those work items don't require additional information. If you are processing only one work item, it is preferable to use Open Work Item on the Tasks menu.
