Concepts: isolated regions

An isolated region is a logical subdivision of the workflow database that contains the queues for the work items, event logs, rosters, all transferred workflows and running work items, and other configuration information. All applications that use Process functionality (Process Designer, Process Administrator, active workflows, and other applications) use a single isolated region that is identified by a connection point name.

Complete the following steps to specify the Process system and isolated region for the applications that use Process functionality:

  1. Create the isolated region object, including the region password. (Enterprise Manager)
  2. Specify the name of the isolated region as a connection point. (Enterprise Manager)
  3. Specify the connection point for the Workplace XT or Workplace Process applications. (Site Preferences)
  4. Specify the password that Process Engine will use for the region. (Process Task Manager)
  5. Initialize (that is, create) the actual region. (Process Configuration Console)

To view and modify the properties of an existing isolated region, select the isolated region entry.
