Use this option to specify the runtime options for the VWService.
To set runtime options
Option | Description |
---|---|
Enable loop detection |
Select this check box to enable loop detection for Process Engine. IBM recommends that you select this check box. When loop detection is enabled, a work item that exceeds three times the Maximum operations per transaction or Maximum instructions per transaction is considered to be in a loop and is handled as an error. See Set performance parameters for more information on these parameters. |
Remove expired timer from parent |
Select this check box to disable the timer on a parent work item whose children work items have already expired. IBM recommends that you select this check box. |
Delete parent when children do not merge |
Select this check box to enable the deletion of parent work items when the child work items are deleted or terminated. FileNet recommends that you select this check box. If this check box is selected, a parent work item is terminated if all its children are terminated or deleted. If the check box is cleared and all of the children are terminated or deleted, the parent work item leaves the Delay queue and continues processing. |
Enable consistent return |
Select this check box to determine whether the map type is a factor in the behavior of the Return system function. See Return system function in Help for Process Designer for more information. By default, the consistent return option is selected unless you have upgraded from an older version of the software. Clear this option only if you need to maintain compatibility for existing workflows that were created in an older version and which depend on the original (that is, inconsistent) use of the Return system function. |
Enable statistics collection |
Select this check box to enable statistics collection for the entire VWService. Clearing this check box terminates the Process Engine process (vwstats) that controls statistics collection. To disable statistics collection for a specific isolated region, see Enable or disable statistics collection. NOTE Statistics functionality is not available in a farmed Process Engine system. You can view statistics using the optional Process Analyzer. |
Enable notification |
Select this check box to enable e-mail notification for the VWService. Clearing this check box terminates the Process Engine process (vwnotify) that controls e-mail notification. |
Enable workflow termination event |
Select this check box to enable workflow termination tracking for the VWService. Clearing this check box terminates the Process Engine process (vwdone) that controls termination tracking. |
Enable Process Analyzer |
If you will use Process Analyzer, select this check box to enable the publishing of workflow information to Process Analyzer. If there is no Process Analyzer Engine associated with the Process Engine system, selecting this check box has no effect. CAUTION Process Analyzer requires that certain system fields be exposed. When you enable this option, a message displays the list of the required fields. You must verify that these fields are exposed as indicated for all isolated regions in the VWService. See System fields defined for a list of the required optional fields. NOTE This option is available only in systems that are licensed for full workflow functionality. If this option is not available, workflow information will not be published for Process Analyzer. |
Enable Rules |
If you will use rules in the workflows, select this check box to enable rules functionality on the Process Engine server. The workflow author uses Process Designer to specify which rules to run at any step in a workflow. See About Rules for information about configuring and implementing rules. Clearing this check box disables rules functionality. Workflows that contain rule functions can run with rules functionality disabled, but the rules will be skipped. The Rules Listener must be present to process the rules when a workflow is running. See Configuring other server connections in Help for Process Task Manager for information about specifying the location of the Rules Listener. NOTE This option is available only in systems that are licensed for full workflow functionality. |
Allow Asynchronous Rules | If you will use rules that require a processing time longer than one second, you can select this check box to allow these rules to be configured for background processing. This makes this option available to the workflow author in Process Designer. See About Rules for information about configuring for background rules processing. Clearing this check box hides this option in Process Designer. Workflows with rules functions that require a long processing time might experience a delay at the step where the rule is defined. |
You must restart the Process Engine software on all Process Engine servers to make the changes take effect. Use Process Task Manager to restart the software.
