Enterprise Manager supports four options, listed in the Global User Preferences properties page of the Enterprise Manager root node, for pasting a document. To set an option as the default paste option, see Set user preferences. To perform the default paste action, select Paste directly from the pop-up menu. To perform a non-default paste action, copy a document, right-click on a folder, then select All Tasks and choose a paste action.
In Enterprise Manager's Global Preferences, the paste action is "When using copy-paste, paste document reference only?"
A new reference to the document you copied is created; The action does not create a new document. Copied documents with a Reservation status retain that status when they are checked out. If you paste into a different folder, the Containment Name remains the same. If you paste into the same folder, the words "Reference of..." precede the Containment Name, with an appended number, if necessary, to ensure a unique name.
In Enterprise Manager's Global Preferences, the paste action is "When using copy-paste, paste all document versions?"
A new document containing the document versions you copied is created. If the copied document is checked out with a Reservation status, pasting checks in the Reservation version as a Minor version, changing the Reservation version to an In Process Minor version.
NOTE If the original document's storage policy was changed from the default for its class, the pasted document's storage policy is changed back to the class default. For example, DocumentA is based on ClassB, which has FileStoreC as its default storage location. However, when it was created, DocumentA's storage location changed to FileStoreD. If you copy and paste DocumentA using Paste All Versions or Paste Contained Versions, the new document CopyofDocumentA is stored in FileStoreC. This is Enterprise Manager's designed behavior.
In Enterprise Manager's Global Preferences, the paste action is "When using copy-paste, paste contained document version only?"
A new document is created containing only the Released version of the document copied, if there is one. If there is no Released version, the new document contains only the current Minor version.
In Enterprise Manager's Global Preferences, this paste action is "When using copy-paste, paste compound document links?"
This creates a new compound document. The compound document links are copied and pasted along with the parent document itself. These links point to the same child document as the original compound document parent. Enterprise Manager enables this option by default.
