Set user preferences
User preferences are available for selected Enterprise Manager nodes. The options
available in a node user preference dialog box depend on the functionality of
the selected node. With the exception of the Enterprise Manager domain root
folder global user preferences, which apply to all object stores in the P8 domain,
the other user preferences apply just to the selected node.
To set Enterprise Manager user preferences
- Right-click one of the nodes listed below and select User
Preferences. (If the pop-up menu does not contain User
Preferences, that node does not have any user
preferences you can set.)
- Enterprise Manager domain root node (these are Global User
Preferences, meaning they apply to all object stores in the FileNet P8 domain):
- Show default start page? Select if you
want the Content Engine "Getting Started" page to display automatically
when you start the Enterprise Manager. A cleared check box will
prevent this page from displaying when you start Enterprise Manager.
See Use the getting started
page.
- When using copy-paste, paste contained document
version only? Select if you want the copy-paste feature
to apply to a specific document version. See Paste
Contained Version for more information.
- When using copy-paste, paste all document versions?
Select if you want the copy-paste feature to apply to all document
versions. See Paste
All Versions for more information.
- When using copy-paste, paste document reference
only? Select if you want the copy-paste feature to apply
to the reference of a selected document. See Paste
Reference for more information.
- When using copy-paste, paste compound document links? Select to include the compound document links when copying and pasting a parent compound document. These links point to the same child document as the original compound document parent. Enterprise Manager enables this option by default.
- Activate trace log. Select to enable trace logging, which is used to assist our diagnostic efforts in resolving potential defects or configuration issues. Activating or de-activating trace logging does not require a restart of Enterprise Manager. For more information, see Trace Logging.
- Hide progress meter. Select if you want to hide the progress meter in Enterprise Manager. If you hide the progress meter, the user will be presented with an hourglass while waiting for Enterprise Manager to perform lengthy operations.
- Restore Defaults: Click to restore to
default settings.
- Object store node (these are Node User Preferences, meaning they
apply only to the current object store):
- Show taskpad as default view? Select
if you want Enterprise Manager to display the taskpad whenever you
select the object store node in Enterprise Manager. The taskpad is
a collection of icons offering shortcuts to wizards and help.
- Restore Defaults: Click to restore to
default settings.
- Export Manifest node (these are Node User Preferences, meaning they
apply only to the current object store):
- The special behavior of the node user preferences for the Export Manifest
are explained in Change
user preferences for include options.
- After setting the user preferences for a particular Export Manifest scope node, if the user changes those preferences when they add a particular object or class type into the manifest, subsequent changes to the user preferences on the Export Manifest scope node will have no effect until the objects are removed from the manifest.
- Restore Defaults: Click to restore to
default settings.
- Unfiled Documents node (these are Node User Preferences, meaning
they apply only to the current object store):
- Set a number of seconds as the maximum length of time that the Enterprise
Manager will search for unfiled documents. Leaving the value blank is the
same as setting the timeout to 0 (zero), which means there is no query timeout.
- Search Results node (these are Node User Preferences, meaning they
apply only to the current object store):
- Initialize the Query Builder with the latest executed
search criteria? Select if you want the Query Builder to display
your previous query whenever you load it to create a new search. You can
then edit the previous query or run it again.
- Include properties of subclasses in Select and Criteria lists? Select this box to include properties of subclasses in the select and criteria lists.
- Restore Defaults: Click to restore to default
settings.
- Click OK to save your user preferences.
