On the General tab of the Workflow Properties dialog box, you specify the name for the workflow definition, the subject text that each participant will see when the workflow is running, and other general properties. In addition, you can base the current workflow on a previously defined workflow in order to inherit the submaps and other properties defined in the base workflow.

Otherwise, to create a workflow definition based on some other previously defined workflow, click Modify and select an appropriate base workflow. See Select base workflow for details on selecting a base workflow. See About workflow inheritance for additional information.
NOTE If workflow inheritance is disabled, you cannot chose another workflow as a base workflow. See Preferences - Workflow for information about showing or hiding inheritance functionality.
The name of a workflow definition must conform to the following rules:
Click Check Workflow Name to verify that the name you entered is unique.
The deadline indicates an amount of time relative to the time that the workflow was launched. If a reminder is set, the tracker assigned for this workflow will receive a reminder of the pending deadline.
TIP Workflow participants do not receive notification of a workflow deadline. The tracker is notified if e-mail notification is active. To enable workflow participants to receive notification of reminders and deadlines, specify deadlines and reminders for individual steps.
