Configure Process Engine server general properties
Use the General tab to configure the general properties for the Process Engine server.
The General tab includes these fields:
Name | Description |
---|---|
IP address |
The IP address of the local Process Engine server. NOTE If you change the IP address, you should back up the Process Engine configuration files. You can safely change a server's IP address without affecting Process Engine, provided the following rules are observed:
For instructions on changing your server's IP address, see the documentation for your server platform. |
Number of VWKs processes |
Sets the number of VWKs server processes to run on the Process Engine server. The default is five processes. The main purpose of having multiple VWKs processes is to take advantage of multiple processors. Each VWKs process consumes approximately 6 to 8 MB of memory on the Process Engine server. IBM recommends 1.5 to 2 VWKs processes per CPU. For example, a single-CPU system should configure the Process Engine server for two VWKs processes; a quad-CPU system should configure six to eight VWKs processes. If all VWKs processes are processing other requests, Process Engine queues new incoming requests and waits for an available process. If you lower the current setting for this option, Process Engine removes each VWKs process as soon it completes the current request, until the number of processes equals the setting. |
