Back up Process Engine

Backing up Process Engine is part of an enterprise-wide backup strategy for IBM FileNet P8, and must be done at the same time as the other P8 components. See Enterprise-wide backup for a list of all components which must be backed up simultaneously.

Workflow database

All process-related data is stored in the workflow database; in a farmed Process Engine system, the workflow database resides on a separate database server. Back up the workflow database using the backup procedures specified by your database vendor.

TIP You can enable backup for a specific isolated region in the workflow database, allowing you to back up and restore the data for the isolated region independently. For more information about this procedure, see Isolated region recovery overview.

CAUTION  IBM recommends that you always back up your workflow and Process Analyzer databases before purging data from the event logging table.
