Trace logging in the Content Engine generates detailed information for tracing server and client activity. Trace logging is for diagnostic purposes only and does not provide security or audit trail information. Customer support and development personnel use the information provided by trace logging to diagnose and solve problems.
Trace Logging is installed and functional when the Content Engine object store service is installed. The components for trace logging are located in the Enterprise Manager tree under Sites > Site name > Trace Logging.
On the Content Engine object store server, you control trace logging by enabling one or more types of trace logging operations. This is done through the Trace Control tab of the component property sheets. Once you have the desired operations enabled, you can use the log files to troubleshoot any traced problems that occur on either the server or the client.
The Content Engine checks the registry for changes to Content Engine tracing every 60 seconds.
See Enable or disable trace logging for information about enabling trace logging.
