About logging on (FileNet Web Services and Open Client only)
To run a Process application in FileNet Web Services or Open Client,
you must log on. Your logon determines your access to your Inbox, Tracker
items, and work queues.
To log on to a Process Engine (FileNet Web Services)
- Start an application—Personal Work Manager, Process Designer, and so
on.
- At the logon prompt, enter your user name and password.
- To use a non-default isolated region, click Advanced
and select an alternate isolated region. If this button is not available,
you have access to only one isolated region.
- Click Logon.
To log on to a Process Engine (Open Client)
- On the Process page, select Log in
or start an application—Process Designer, and so on.
-
To log on using LDAP credentials when LDAP is enabled,
enter your user name and password. The default LDAP Distinguished
Name automatically displays. You can modify the Distinguished
Name if necessary. See your system administrator for more information
about LDAP Distinguished Name logon information.
To log on using non-LDAP credentials when LDAP
is enabled, click FileNet Log In
and enter your user name and password.
- To use a non-default isolated region , click Advanced
and select an alternate isolated region. If this button is not available, you
have access to only one isolated region.
- Click Log In.
To log off
- When you close your browser, you are automatically logged off.
- Closing all Process applications does not automatically log you off—you
must either close the browser or click the Logoff button or the Logout link.
- If you open multiple Process applications, such as Process Designer
and Process Administrator,
those applications can share the same logon if you open them in the
same browser session. If you start a new browser window, you must log
on again.
- In FileNet Web Services, clicking the Process Logoff
button ends the sharing of authentication information between FileNet Web Services and Process applications within the browser session. As
a result, after you log off Process in the browser session, you will
be prompted to log on the next time you access a Process application
in the session, even if you are already logged on to a Content Services
(CS) library.
TIP To
log on as a different user, log off then log back on with the desired
user name.
Miscellaneous requirements
To open or save documents and workflow definitions
in a CS library:
- You must have logon access to the CS library. If
your CS user name and password are not the same as your IS user name and
password, you must log on to a CS library when saving or opening workflow
definitions.
To create and edit links between a workflow definition
and a document or document class:
- You must have access to both the Content Services library (where the
document class are defined, and the workflow definitions and documents
are stored) and Process Engine.Your
Content Services (CS) user name and password should be identical to
your Process Engine user name and password;
if they are not identical, you will be prompted to log on to Process Engine
during the linking process.
- You must log on as a member of the Administrators group on the CS
library.
Restricted logon to Process Administrator, Process Configuration Console, and Process Designer
The workflow system administrator can define special groups that restrict
access to the Process Administrator,
Process Configuration Console,
and Process Designer
applications. If these groups are defined, you must log on to the corresponding
application as a member of that group, or the SysAdminG group. If these
groups are not defined, any user who can log on to Process can run the
application.
