Create a document object
- Document Title
- If you choose With content, you can enter any value you wish,
up to 255 characters. Or, if you leave it blank, the file's filename that
you choose in the next screen of the wizard will be taken as the default
value of Title. You can change this default value to anything you wish,
up to 255 characters.
If you choose Without content, you can enter any value you wish,
up to 255 characters.
Do not use spaces or numbers at the beginning of object names in Content
Engine. Spaces are automatically dropped off. Leading numbers look correct
in display names but are dropped in the symbolic name that is used for
queries.
- With content
- Use this option if the document is a file that is located in a network
location accessible to the object store. Depending on what you pick in
the next page of the wizard, either a copy of the file will be stored
in the content store, or the document's URL, referred to as its "reference",
will be stored.
- Without content
- Use this option if there is no content element, or if the content element
is currently unavailable, or to describe an object that is not a digital
file. You can add a content element later. Enter any name that best describes
the object.
If you choose Without Content,
the Wizard will skip the "Document content type and source" page and
go straight to the "Class and properties" page.
- Save as Reservation
- Select if you want the wizard to create and save the first version of the
new document as a Reservation (still checked out). You can continue to work on the Reservation, saving it
as you go, and check it in when you are ready. If you select this check box,
the Create Minor Version check box will also be selected, since Reservation
documents are always Minor.
- Create Minor Version
- Select if you want the first version to be Minor.
Subsequent versions can be Major,
depending on how you check it in.
- Create as Compound Document
- Select if you want the new document to be a compound document.
- Create
- Click Create if you want to skip the next screens of the wizard and automatically store the object in the selected class' default content store, and with the Folder always contains current version property set to On.
