Work with searches
Workplace provides Search view, where you access simple search or search templates to help you quickly locate items you need. The Search view provides:
- Access to search templates that you can complete to locate items. Stored searches contain complete searches ready for your use and are available through the Browse view. Both search templates and stored searches are created and maintained
by administrators who have access rights to Search Designer, a part of Author Advanced Tools.
- Access to simple search that you use to create customized searches for documents, folders, and custom objects. The search criteria and options that appear for each object are based on your Search user preference settings.
The default Search page display is simple search. Object stores to which you don't have access results in a search failing.
When you are working in an integrated Microsoft® Office application, any time you add or open an object, you can use search to locate a document in an object store. The Search page provides a quick way to use a search template or create a personal search to find various types of objects and works with your user preferences settings. In addition, if you insert object store items as a hyperlink, you can also use search.
NOTES
- Search settings determined by your site administrator can affect your search results. For example, you might not find documents based on a combined search.
- < and > are not supported in content searches. They are keywords in Verity and will cause a Verity error message to be displayed when searching for these characters. Consider using the In Zone modifier which searches for HTML and XML tags and typically consist of these characters, such as <name>.
- Documents that reside in an Image Services library can have unexpected property values. The Content Size of the document might be 0 KB and the Last Modifier property can indicate the source of the data, such as CFS-IS Import Service. Searches that use these properties might not return the expected results.
