Content cache area properties (Size tab)

The content cache area property sheet's Size tab shows the storage capacity available on the local server for the content cache.

For details on how these parameters affect content caching, see Limits for content caching.

To help you determine the most appropriate configuration for your server group, see Managing content cache areas.

Directory Structure
Identifies the size of the directory structure as Small or Large, depending on the size specified with this cache area was created.
Maximum Size
Specifies the amount of space to reserve for content cache. This setting marks the maximum combined size of all content elements in the cache. For example, if the maximum size is set to 5000 KB, the content cache will not accept new content elements until the total size has been reduced below this maximum level through normal pruning.

By default, this is set to 5000 KB .

Maximum Number of Elements
Specifies the maximum number of content elements allowed in content cache. For example, if the maximum size is set to 2500, the content cache will not accept new content elements until the total number of content elements has been reduced below this maximum level through normal pruning.

By default, this is set to 2500. To change the current setting, type in the desired number of files you want allowed in the content cache area.
Delete Method
Specifies the method for removing content element files from the content cache.

The options for delete method include:

Standard: deletes the file.
Destructive: fills the file with zeros then deletes it.
Purge: writes over the file three times with various patterns and then deletes it.
