Log file reference

The FileNet P8 platform includes tools to help you monitor the functions of your system:

In addition to these system and performance monitoring tools, the P8 platform provides logging capabilities for issue tracing, error tracking and troubleshooting, and auditing or process tracking. This topic provides a reference to the logging and log file information available in the P8 help system and installation guides.

Installation

Application Engine

In the FileNet P8 Platform Installation and Upgrade Guide, check the procedures appropriate to your operating system for install or upgrade log information:

  • Check logs for errors after installation or upgrade.
Content Engine

See the following sections of the FileNet P8 Platform Installation and Upgrade Guide for details about upgrade logging for Content Engine:

  • Upgrade install: monitor transaction logfiles for completion before shutting down services.
  • Object store upgrade: Upgrader tool uses log4j to record status of upgrade.
