Save document class properties to data fields on launch (FileNet Web Services Client and Open Client only)NOTE The information in this topic applies only to FileNet Web Services Client and Open Client systems. For Workplace, see Subscription property mapping. When you define a link between a workflow definition and a document or document class, you can optionally choose to launch the workflow automatically when one of the following events occurs:
In addition, you can optionally copy values from the launching document's properties into corresponding workflow data fields using one of the following procedures, depending on the format of the property name. TIP If you are using a customized Inbox or Tracker queue display in FileNet Web Services Client, you can display the values of the launching document properties. For a document property name with no spacesUse the following syntax to record launch-specific information in the workflow: Doc_<property_name> For example, all document classes include an Author property, which holds the name of the user who added or checked in each version of a document belonging to that class. Upon automatic launch, you can copy the Author value into a workflow data field named Doc_Author and use it as a basis for subsequent routing of the workflow (perhaps distributing work among three work queues, one for usernames starting with A - H, etc.) NOTE This functionality is available only for links defined with automatic launching. For a document property name that contains spacesIf the document class property name contains spacesfor example, the property display name is Customer Numberyou will use the property ID syntax for the data field name: DocID_<property_id> In this case, you need to use administration tools on the library to obtain the actual property ID for that property name.
