How the Process Configuration Console is organized

Configuration Console window

Scope pane

The Process Configuration Console has three panes. The left pane is the scope pane, which shows a tree view of the Process Engine. The tree displays the hierarchy of all the items that you can manage using the Process Configuration Console. Each item (or node) is one of a variety of objects or folders. The tree view is similar to a Windows NT Explorer view of files and folders on a hard disk. You configure the Process Engine by taking action on the object selected in the scope pane, changing options or executing commands represented by toolbars or command menus.

Contents pane

When you select a node, the top right pane, called the contents pane, displays the contents of your selection. If your selection is a folder, the Process Configuration Console displays the contents of the folder. If your selection is an object, the contents pane is empty.

Pending changes pane

The bottom right pane is the pending changes pane. It contains a list of all pending, or uncommitted, configuration changes. You apply these changes by selecting the Commit Changes action.

The separator bar

You can use the separator bars to hide, display, or change the size of the panes. Clicking an arrow on the separator bar moves the bar in the direction of the arrow, hiding one pane and expanding the other. To change the relative size of the panes on either side of the bar, drag the bar in the desired direction.

Performing an action

To perform an action, you usually have several choices:

  • Click the appropriate button on the toolbar.
  • Select the action from the Action menu.
  • Right-click on the object, and select the action from the context menu.
  • Double-click on an object to start its default action.
