View status

Status information displays in the Tracker window, which is divided into two parts. The upper area (Map area) displays the main map and any submaps of the current workflow; the lower area (History pane) displays information about the running workflow.

A workflow map is a graphical representation of a workflow that shows step sequences required to complete a business process. Each step represents a specific activity; routes between the steps indicate one or more possible processing paths.

To display the status of the running workflow

  1. On the open work item page, click the Status button. If there is no Status button, the option is not available for this work item.

The Tracker application displays the Workflow map and history pane, as shown above. If you are assigned as the tracker for this workflow, the properties pane also displays, allowing you to make changes in active work items.
  2. On the Tracker page, display the workflow map or any submaps by selecting the name of the map from the list on the Workflow map toolbar.
  3. Select the steps in the workflow map or a tab in the History pane to display the information you want.

To display milestones (of any level) defined for this workflow, click the Milestones tab. Choose the maximum milestone level you want to display from the Show milestone levels selection box. A milestone that has been completed displays its name and message. A milestone that has not been completed displays its name only.

To list steps that have been completed and any steps in progress, click the Workflow History tab. For further information, click Help in the Tracker window.

To display the history of one or more steps, select the steps in the workflow map. If a step has been visited (in progress or completed), the Step History tab displays the information from the event log. If the step has not been visited, there is no information.

In the table of step information, the Occurrences column shows the number of times that a step has executed in a cycle. The Response column shows the response the participant selected. The Comments column shows any comment the participant entered.

To list active work items in the current workflow, click the Work Items tab.

NOTE  If you make changes to the work item in Tracker, those changes will not be reflected when you return to the work item page.
