Assign or reassign work

Sometimes it is necessary to assign or reassign a work item. You can:

  • Assign a work item from an work queue to one or more users or workflow groups, or to another work queue.
  • Reassign a work item from one or more participants to other participants.
  • Return a work item to the work queue or participant from which it came.

To assign or reassign work

  1. Click Assign/Reassign Work Assign/Reassign button on the toolbar.
  2. Select a step from the list of Steps. Process Tracker lists only steps which have active work items. In addition, Process Tracker does not display steps associated with queues to which you are denied access.
  3. In the From list, select the participant or work queue to whom the work item is currently assigned.
  4. In the To list, select the participant to whom you want to assign the work item. See Participant selection for additional information about selecting users.

    NOTE  For systems using Active Directory, if a base group has been set above Users and Groups, members of that Builtin group will be available for selection in user and group lists. These users should not be used as workflow participants.

  5. You can optionally enter comments.
  6. If the work item is currently assigned to a participant, you can optionally specify if you want the work returned to the currently assigned participant for approval before it progresses to the next step in the workflow. If the work item is in a work queue, this option is not available.
  7. Click OK or Apply.
