General information, select response, enter comments

The General tab provides general information about the work item.

Subject: A brief description of the workflow.
Launched By: The user who launched the workflow.
Launched On: The date and time the workflow was launched.
Received On: The date and time this step entered in the queue.
Deadline: If a deadline is specified for this step, the date and time of the deadline displays;
if a reminder has arrived, "Reminder Sent" displays;
if the deadline has passed, "Deadline Past" displays.

Responses

If a work item displays a list of response options, you must choose a response before completing the work item. The choice you make usually determines how the workflow progresses after you complete the work item (for example, which step executes next).

Comment

In the Comments area, you can optionally enter comments that can be viewed by trackers of this workflow and by participants at subsequent steps who are allowed (in the workflow definition) to view the status of the workflow. See View status for additional information.

To enter a comment, click in the Comment field and type the text.

NOTE When entering comments, you can enter more than 500 characters, but after you complete the work item only the first 80 characters will be visible for the Tracker.

The entire comment is visible not only as you enter it, but also if you:

  • Reassign the work item to another user. This can be useful for providing additional instructions for the participant to whom you reassign the work.
  • Save the in-progress work item for later completion. When you re-open this work item page, you will see the entire comment.
