Process Simulator general properties

Use the General tab to configure the Process Simulator.

The General tab includes these fields:

Name Description

Max Simulation Jobs

The maximum number of concurrently running simulations. The default is ten. Exceeding this value results in an error to the user making the simulation request.

Temp Directory (UNC)

The location of temporary files used by Process Simulator processes, in UNC format (for example, \\MyPSServer\MySharedTempDirectory).

If not specified, Process Simulator uses the user's default temporary directory. The user who owns the MSSQLSERVER and SQLSERVERAGENT services on the server containing the Process Analyzer database must have permission to access the location specified.

Java Min Memory

Sets the minimum amount of memory (in megabytes) that will be used by the server Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The default for Windows is 300. If you leave this blank, the memory is set to the default values, according to the JVM being used. The default is 16 for UNIX.

Specify a value for this setting only if the JVM process on your Process Engine begins to run out of memory.

NOTE UNIX systems can use the $JavaMinMemory environment variable instead of this setting. (HP systems must use the environment variable.) You must set the environment variable before starting the PPM or it is ignored.

Java Max Memory

Sets the maximum amount of memory (in megabytes) that will be used by the server Java Virtual Machine (JVM). The default for Windows is 300. If you leave this blank, the memory is set to the default values, according to the JVM being used. The default is 32 for UNIX.

Registry Port

The RMI port the Process Simulator uses. The default port is 32771.

For Workplace, your entry must match the port number specified in the Simulator Engine site preference on the Application Engine. See General settings for Simulator Engine for further details.

Process Cubes Whether to process the Process Analyzer cubes immediately after a simulation completes. If this option is turned off, the cubes are processed at the next regularly scheduled time. (By default, the cubes are processed daily during the night.)
Enable automatic startup Enables automatic startup of the associated process when Process Task Manager is started from a script. See Enabling automatic startup for more information.
