About editing workflows

You can use Process Administrator to modify a workflow's attributes while the workflow is processing. The attributes include data field values and the trackers and workflow groups associated with the workflow.

Before you start editing, you should understand the differences between editing workflows vs. work items. When you modify a workflow, Process Administrator applies the changes you make to all of the work items that make up the workflow.

Your access rights can affect how Process Administrator displays and updates work. See Security issues for Process Administrator functionality for more information.

Search mode

You must set the search mode to Edit to modify work. If you are not in edit mode, select Edit in the search mode; and re-execute your search. Your access rights can cause edit and read only modes to display different results. See Security issues for Process Administrator functionality for more information.

Locking work items

Process Administrator must lock a work item before you can make any changes. You can explicitly lock the work, or Process Administrator will prompt you to do so when necessary. If you are editing workflows, Process Administrator must lock all of the work items associated with the workflow.
