lockwob

This command locks a work item in the specified queue and reports whether the lock attempt was successful. This command is used primarily for testing purposes--it is not a prerequisite for executing any other vwtool commands.

Syntax

lockwob <workobjectnumber> <queuename> <override>

Parameters

workobjectnumber

Work object number of work item to lock. Use the wobquery command to find the workobjectnumber.

queuename

Name of queue the work item is in. Use the wobquery command to find the queuename.

If you specify a system or user queue, you must also indicate the server to view.

override

Override the existing lock on the work item. Enter "y" to override the existing lock, or "n" to cancel the operation if there is an existing lock.

Use the wobquery command to view the current lock status. Select the queue containing the work item, and look in the F_Locked field.

You cannot override an existing lock on work items that are locked by the system; the system maintains a lock on these work objects for data integrity purposes.

TIP In vwtool, you can enter parameters on the command line (following the command name) or let vwtool prompt you for the information by entering just the command name. Generally, we recommend prompt mode for all but the simplest commands. Entering the parameters on the command line is intended primarily for script-driven input.

NOTE If necessary, change to the desired isolated region prior to executing this command.
