Backing up Process Analyzer

This topic presents the steps you must perform in order to back up the Process Analyzer data. Because the Process Analyzer and Process Engine share information their respective databases should be backed up at the same time.

NOTE The Process Engine database is also referred to as the workflow database elsewhere in this chapter.

To backup Process Analyzer

  1. Stop both the Process Engine and Process Analyzer servers. To stop the Process Analyzer, stop the AEEngine.exe and the Pubsvc.exe Windows Services. To stop the Process Engine, see Starting and stopping the Process Service.
  2. Back up the Process Engine and the Process Analyzer databases. See What to back up for Process Engine and What to back up for Process Analyzer for a list of the databases to back up.
  3. Back up the following Windows Registry key:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\FileNet\Process Analyzer Engine
  4. (Optional) If you plan to prune the event log for the Process Engine database, complete the following steps.
    1. Wait for the Process Engine server backup to finish.
    2. Do not restart the Process Analyzer server when its backup is done.
    3. Start the event log pruning operation. See Purging data from the event logging table for instructions.
  5. Restart the Process Analyzer and the Process Engine servers whenever their respective database backups are complete. You do not have to wait until both Process Analyzer and Process Engine databases backup are done.
