FileNet Documentation Server

If you change the documentation server URL after installing a FileNet P8 Platform or FileNet Image Manager component, you must manually update the related shortcuts and property files.

On a Process Engine

Changing the documentation server URL depends on the server platform in use.

Windows Unix
  • Right-click each help shortcut on the Process Engine start menu, select Properties, and modify the URL on the Web Document tab.
  • Use a text editor to edit \fnsw\bin\taskman.properties. Modify the value for WF_HELP.

Use a text editor to edit /fnsw/bin/taskman.properties. Modify the value for WF_HELP.

On an Application Engine or web server

Changing the documentation server URL depends on the client platform in use.

For this client... perform these steps...
FileNet Workplace Modify the documentation server URL in the Site Preferences for the Application Engine. For detailed instructions, see Preference Settings in the Application Engine Site Preferences Help.
FileNet Web Services Client
  1. From the Start menu, select FileNet IDM/Configure.
    • Click Additional Preferences, and navigate to Documentation/DocumentationServer/DocumentationServerURL.
    • Modify the URL and click OK.
  2. From the Start menu, navigate to FileNet P8 Platform/Process Web Server/Process Help and right-click.
    • Select Properties.
    • Modify the URL and click OK.
Open Client
  1. Use a text editor to edit SitePreferences.xml in the [installation directory]\Web\FNOpenClient\Preferences folder. Find subsystem "Documentation", and modify the default value. Save your changes. For example, change <value default="http://oldserver:8080/ecm_help" type="string"> to <value default="http://newserver:8080/ecm_help" type="string">.
  2. From the Start menu, navigate to FileNet P8 Platform/Process Web Server/Process Help and right-click.
    • Select Properties.
    • Modify the URL and click OK.

In addition, use a text editor to edit \fnsw_loc\sd\vwtaskman.properties. Modify the WF_HELP reference.
