Check workflow name

The name of the workflow must be unique in the isolated region. When you are naming a new workflow definition, we suggest that you check the name against the names of existing workflow definitions that have been transferred to the workflow database. See About transfer for additional information.

To check the workflow name

  1. If the Workflow Properties dialog is not open, click Workflow Properties on the Process Designer toolbar.
  2. On the General tab, enter a name for the workflow.

The names of workflow definitions must conform to the following rules:

    • Begin with an alphabetic character. May contain letters, digits, underscores, or spaces.
    • Maximum length 249 characters.
    • Not use F_ or two tilde (~~) characters as the first two characters.
    • Be unique among workflow definitions in an isolated region.
  3. Click the Check Workflow Name button on the right side of the Workflow Name title bar.
  4. On the Check Workflow Name dialog, select whether to use the current name or enter a different name.
    • If the name you entered is available, choose Use this workflow name.
    • If the name you entered is already in use, do one of the following:
      • Choose Use this workflow name to overwrite the existing workflow definition when you transfer your new workflow definition to the workflow database.
      • Choose Use another workflow name, then enter or select the name to use.
