Use the -o option in vwlog to copy log records to a text file. If you
keep the default delimiter of , (the comma character) and
specify an extension of .CSV, you can import this file into a spreadsheet
such as Microsoft Excel for subsequent analysis.
NOTE
The vwlog -o option does not remove records from the event logging table
in the database. To remove records from the event logging database table,
refer to Purging Data from the Event
Logging Table.
The following parameters apply to the -o option:
Parameters
-o Option
Use
-s, -S, -e, -E
Use these parameters to specify an interval for statistics database
coalescing:
Use the -s or -S parameter to specify the start time for the interval.
The -s parameter defines the start time as <Time>, and the
-S parameter defines the start time as the current time - <Time>
(in hours).
Use the -e or -E parameter to specify the end time for the interval.
The -e parameter defines the end time as <Time>, and the -E
parameter defines the end time as the current time - <Time>
(in hours).
-r
Use this parameter to specify the isolated region(s) to process.
-T
Use this parameter to display log records associated with completed
workflows. Log records associated with workflows still in progress
dont display.
-v
Use this parameter to specify verbose output to the stdout device.
-H
Use this parameter to print column headings..
-d
Use this parameter to specify a delimiter for the log record fields.
The default delimiter is , (the comma character).
Note that more than one character can be used for the delimiter.
Enclose this delimiter in quotes (for example, *, ).
-f
Use this parameter to define the output file format. The format
for this parameter is:
-f <string>
where string is a concatenation of valid format characters. The
order in which these characters are placed determines the order
in which the corresponding data appears in the output file.
Refer to the Valid format
characters used in strings, which lists each valid format character,
as well as the information output when you include the format character
in the string.
-w
Use this parameter to filter
the log records for a specific condition by specifying a SQL "WHERE"
clause.
NOTE The
default format for the output file is "rteuwWcpioMdkx." Refer
to Output file contents for details
on the vwlog output file.
For example:
vwlog -r 7 -o output.log -d '*' -f rewIA
will copy records from the event log tables to the file output.log.
The following fields will be written for each record, separated by a *:
Isolated region (r)
Event type (e)
Work item number (w)
Instruction sheet ID (I)
Authored instruction ID (A)
With this information, you can determine where each work item was in
processing when a specific message was generated.
