Edit attachment array

If an attachment is defined as an array (a collection of documents, folders, and so on), the access privileges specified for the attachment determine whether you can specify the target of each array element and add or delete array elements.

To view or modify the target of an array element

  1. In the open work item, click the Attachments tab to display the list of attachments.
  2. Select the array element to modify. If the element is not visible, see To display the elements in an attachment array.
  3. As appropriate, use the tools on the Attachments toolbar to perform the following actions on the selected array element:
  4. Operations on the array element
    Assign Attachment

Assign a target to the array element. Click Assign Attachment on the toolbar, then do one of the following, depending on the location of the target:

    • If the target is in an object store or library, open the object store or library and browse or search to locate the target (document, folder, stored search, and so on). If you are using the FileNet Web Services Client, see Document search example.
    • If the document is either a file on a shared disk or a web address, click Other, then select the appropriate option—UNC for a file, or URL for a web address.

If the document is UNC, you can use the Browse button to locate the document.

Optionally, you can leave the target for this array element blank.

    Unassign Attachment

Remove the assigned target from the array element.

  5. As appropriate, use the tools on the toolbar to perform actions on the target of the selected array element.

    Operations on the target

    View Document

View the target of the array element. If your viewer application does not recognize the format of the target, the target will not display. If you do not have Viewer access to the target, the button is disabled.

    Open

Open the target in an appropriate application available on your computer.

If the target is a folder, a Browse page displays the contents of the folder where you can select individual items. You can then use the tools on the toolbar to perform the appropriate operations on the selected item. Note that although the Link Workflow and Launch Workflow toolbar buttons appear to be enabled, you cannot link or launch a workflow from the target.

    Checkout Document

Check out the target from a library and save it on your local system.

Checkout and Open Check out the target and open it for editing.

    Checkin Document

Check in the previously checked out target.

    Cancel Checkout

    Cancel checkout of the target.
Version List Display the list of versions of the target, including checkin information, access to archiving features, and other options.

    Properties

Display the properties of the target.

To add an element to the array

  1. In the open work item, click the Attachments tab to display the list of attachments.
  2. Select the array element to modify. If the element is not visible, see To display the elements in an attachment array.
  3. Click Add Attachment to array on the Attachments toolbar.
  4. With the new element selected, continue with step 3 in To view or modify the target of an array element.

To delete an element from the array

  1. In the open work item, click the Attachments tab to display the list of attachments.
  2. Select the array element to modify. If the element is not visible, see To display the elements in an attachment array.
  3. Click Delete Attachment from array on the Attachments toolbar.

To display the elements in an attachment array

By default, attachment arrays are expanded so that each element in an array has its own row in the table. If an array is not expanded, click the arrow next to the attachment name to display the array elements.
