Indexing Modes
An indexing mode is enabled with each collection-building application by default, and it determines a policy for indexing behavior that the Verity engine uses when indexing documents for a collection. Specific characteristics of an indexing mode affect the collection-building application's processing and scheduling of the indexing tasks.
Several predefined indexing modes are available for tuning a collection's indexing policy to meet performance and latency parameters. For example, a collection providing information from an on-line news source can use a predefined news feed mode. This mode provides minimal latency between the time when a news story arrives at the local node from a newsfeed reader (which typically receives the news from a satellite sender) and when it can be searched by the Verity engine.
