Developing HTML Processors for FileNet Web Services

A Step Processor is an application that provides and processes the information and resources that a user (a workflow participant) needs in order to complete a step in a workflow. When a user opens a work item, the Step Processor displays the instructions, the attachments retrieved from a FileNet Content Services or Image Services library, current field values, response options, and other resources necessary to allow the user to process and complete the step.

This topic describes how to develop HTML Step and Launch Step Processors with the the FileNet Web Services web application. These HTML applications are normally hosted in Active Server Pages (ASPs) that provide the application to ActiveX clients. While ASPs can be developed from scratch, the topics in this section focus on extending or otherwise customizing the default HTML Step Processor and Launch Step Processor applications provided with the FileNet Web Services HTML Step Processor Toolkit. This Toolkit consists of the ASP, INC, JavaScript, gif (image), and utility files that make up the default FileNet Web Services HTML Step Processor and Launch Step Processor applications provided with your product.
