Working with attachments, fields, and workflow groupsThe work item displays any attachments, data fields, and workflow groups required to complete that step in the workflow. The work item page only includes attachments, fields, and workflow groups if these parameters are used in this step of the workflow. These parameters might be read-only, or you might need to enter data as part of the processing for the work item. Your access for each parameter in the work item is specified in the workflow definition. The instructions for the work item should provide information regarding what you need to do with each parameter. AttachmentsThe Attachments tab provides access to specific information used to complete the step such as a document in a Constent Services (CS) library. See About attachments for general information on attachments. Each attachment either identifies a specific target or has no value, meaning that no target has been assigned. Use the buttons on the Attachments toolbar to assign or unassign a target to an attachment, or open a target assigned to an attachment. See Specify attachments or Edit attachment array, as appropriate. The access privileges specified for each attachment determine whether you can change the target assigned to the attachment.
NOTE An attachment is only a reference to a target and does not ensure that you have access to open the target. If you do not have access to the assigned target, the toolbar buttons and context menu items are disabled. Data FieldsA data field displayed on a work item page can be informational only or it can allow you to change the value as part of completing the step.
Note that there are default values for all data types except strings, so the values of these fields are not blank unless the field has Write access:
See Specify data field values to change or designate the values of a data field. Workflow GroupsA workflow group listed on a work item page can be informational only or can allow you to specify participants for the group. If the workflow group is specified as a participant for a subsequent step in the workflow, your changes will be in effect for that step.
See Specify workflow groups for the procedure to assign participants to a workflow group.
