Manage VWServices

A VWService is a distinct workflow system, determining the database and servers you can access. Each VWService is automatically assigned a number that is unique within the FileNet system; service numbers begin at 0 and increment by 1.

Use Process Configuration Console to set system-wide options for a particular VWService, including enabling add-on products such as Process Analyzer or Rules processing, and specifying various other runtime options.

How the Configuration Console determines the VWService

configuration console folder tree

The Process Configuration Console determines the VWService indirectly, based on the router information. For each Process Router router/isolated region icon running on the Application Engine or web server, the Process Configuration Console determines the name of the primary Process Engine that the router is pointing to. The primary Process Engine identifies a specific VWService. The Process Configuration Console displays a VWService folder VWService icon identified by each unique primary Process Engine.

For example, in the illustration at left, the Process Configuration Console has detected three Process Routers running on the Application Engine or web server.

  • vwrouter and vwrouter262 point to the primary Process Engine rosa, defining one VWService. The two Process Routers define two separate isolated regions in the rosa VWService.
  • HumanResources points to the primary Process Engine hq_hr, defining a second VWService.
