What to back up for Process AnalyzerThis topic lists the files that should be backed up for the Process Analyzer. In addition to backing up the Process Analyzer files listed in the table below, you should also backup the following FileNet components at the same time.
About database synchronization
The Process Analyzer creates its analytical data using events generated and sent by the Process Engine. As a result, the Process Engine and Process Analyzer databases should always be backed up at the same time to ensure the databases remain synchronized with one another. If the Process Analyzer and Process Engine database backups are not made at the same time, when one or more of these databases is restored the Process Analyzer may expect the Process Engine database to be in one state while it is actually in another state. See Backing up Process Analyzer for more information. In the event the Process Analyzer databases become corrupted, you must restore the Process Analyzer databases and manually resynchronize them with the Process Engine database. If the Process Engine database becomes corrupted, you must restore both the Process Analyzer and Process Engine databases using the backups that were made at the same time. See Restoring Process Analyzer for more information. Pruning eventsThe vwlog.exe utility enables you to prune events from the Process Engine event log when the log has grown too large. The default behavior for vwlog is to keep all events that have not been acknowledged by the Process Analyzer (F_AEXMitStat = 1). You can use the -P option to force purging of the events without regard of the F_AEXMitStat, but it is not recommended because it will create processing errors in the Process Analyzer. See Backing up Process Analyzer for information on safely pruning a Process Engine event log. You can also prune the events from the Process Analyzer database to minimize disk space utilization. This operation deletes events for workflows that are done and have been terminated. The Process Analyzer does not expect to receive any more events for terminated workflows. In the event that the Process Engine database must be restored from a backup you must also restore the Process Analyzer database backups from the same time frame to ensure that the Process Analyzer and Process Engine databases remain synchronized. See Restoring Process Analyzer for instructions.
