Start vwtool

The vwtool utility runs on any Process Engine. In a VWService comprised of multiple servers, you can run vwtool on any server and access the databases from all servers.

Within a VWService, vwtool accesses one isolated region at a time. Most of the information vwtool returns is isolated region-specific, though some commands return VWService-wide or local server-specific information (the descriptions of these commands include their scope).

To start vwtool

Enter the following at the command line prompt to start vwtool:

vwtool

The vwtool prompt displays the current isolated region. By default, vwtool accesses isolated region 1 upon startup. After vwtool is running, you can change the isolated region as needed.

CAUTION The vwtool utility is a powerful tool that requires careful and informed use. Misuse of vwtool can lead to work item corruption, compromised data integrity, or loss of data.
