writetrace

This command writes trace data accumulated in memory by the trace command to the specified text file. Prior to executing the writetrace command, execute the trace command with the memory parameter set to "y" to put trace information in memory.

After using writetrace to create a file, exit vwtool and use a text editor to open the file.

Syntax

writetrace <filename>

Parameters

filename

Name (and path) of the output file. By default, the file is created in the directory from which you are running vwtool.

TIP In vwtool, you can enter parameters on the command line (following the command name) or let vwtool prompt you for the information by entering just the command name. Generally, we recommend prompt mode for all but the simplest commands. Entering the parameters on the command line is intended primarily for script-driven input.

NOTE If necessary, change to the desired isolated region prior to executing this command.
