Launch page

When you start a workflow, the launch page that displays can include the following:

  • Launch instructions: The instructions specify what you need to do to launch the workflow, if the workflow author included this information. For example, it might instruct you to enter a value in a specific data field or attach a document subsequent participants will need to see.
  • General tab:

The Subject is a description of the workflow specified by the workflow author; the subject displays in participants' Inboxes as the subject of each work item for this workflow. You can optionally modify the subject.

Response options usually determine how the workflow progresses after you complete the work (for example, which step executes next). If there are response options, you are unable to launch a workflow until you select a response.

In the Comments area, you can optionally enter comments, as appropriate. A tracker of this workflow can view these comments in the full version of the Tracker application.

For further information, see General tab, select response, enter comments.

  • Attachments, Data fields, and Workflow Groups tabs : See the instructions regarding required launch activities using these parameters. See Specify attachment, Specify field values, Specify workflow groups.

NOTE The launch page displays tabs for attachments, data fields, and workflow groups only when they are used in the launch step.

Command buttons for the launch page

The following commands are available on the launch page.

Launch Save any changes you made and route the work to the next step in the workflow.

Exit Cancel any changes you made and do not launch the workflow.

NOTE If the browser session times out before you have clicked the Launch button, any changes you made on this launch page are lost when the browser re-connects to the workflow server. Upon re-connection, you might see the following message:

"Cannot continue process because required workflow identifier is not available. Return to home page."

If you see this message, you must re-select the workflow to display the launch page again; if you do not see this message, the launch page is still displayed.

In both cases, you must re-enter any changes you made prior to the browser session timeout.
