Configure event logging options

Event logging settings determine whether the Process Engine generates a log message when certain system-level events occur within the selected isolated region. Each event logging option represents an event category; if you enable logging for a category, the occurrence of any event within that category generates a log message.

NOTE Disabling either of the user-defined message categories does not disable messages logged as a result of the Log system function.

To set event logging options

  1. Select the icon of the isolated region you wish to modify and click Properties on the toolbar.
  2. Select the Event Logging Options tab.
  3. Check the boxes of the event categories for which you want to log messages.
  4. Click OK when done.
  5. Click Commit Changes on the toolbar to apply this change to your isolated region. You can commit the changes immediately, or you can wait until you have finished all your changes.

NOTE The commit process suspends all other database transactions within the isolated region until it finishes. We strongly recommend that you accumulate all changes and commit them once when you're done, or that you commit changes when the isolated region is relatively inactive. Avoid committing changes after every modification whenever possible.

CAUTION Process Tracker and the Process Analyzer base much of their information on log messages. To allow Process Tracker to function properly, you must enable the options listed under the heading Options required by Process Tracker. To allow the Process Analyzer to function properly, you must enable all options.
