Process Simulator advanced properties

Use the Advanced tab to configure the Process Simulator advanced settings..

The Advanced tab includes these fields:

Name Description
Publisher Timeout

The maximum number of minutes that the event generator waits for a response from the event publisher before it stops queuing events to the publisher. The default is 15 minutes.

TIP If a simulation times out, increase this number and try it again.

Data Timeout The maximum number of minutes that a connection is kept open during an animation when there is no activity. This timeout can occur, for instance, if there are network problems.

Return Port

The port number on which the remote Process Simulator object receives calls. If the return port is 0 (the default value), an anonymous port is chosen. It is only necessary to enter a value other than 0 if you are also specifying the Local Host parameter to accommodate a firewall or Network Address Translator (NAT). See "Local Host" below for further details.

Local Host

The fully qualified name of the Process Simulator.

NOTE This parameter is optional unless the Process Simulator resides behind a firewall or Network Address Translator (NAT). In such configurations, you may be denied access when you access the Process Simulator. To resolve this problem, you must enter both the Local Host and the Return Port when starting the Process Simulator.

CAUTION RMI requests to a server with an underscore (_) in the DNS name fail due to a limitation in JRE 1.4 and greater. If your server has a name containing an underscore, you must use the IP address or localhost if appropriate.
