PPM

The Process Engine PPM folder displays information about the Pooled Process Manager (PPM) service on the Process Engine. In a multi-server configuration, the PPM must be running on each server.

CAUTION If your Windows Process Engine is configured as a cluster, you must use the appropriate cluster administration tool (the Microsoft Cluster Administrator or the Oracle Fail Safe Manager) rather than the Process Task Manager or other Process Service tools to:

  • Start, stop, and restart the Process Service software.
  • Start and stop the PPM service.

Failure to stop the Process Engine or the PPM service using the cluster administration tools will initiate a fail-over reaction from the cluster service.

To start the PPM
  1. As appropriate, add, edit, or retain the information displayed in the PPM Properties window. Refer to the chart in PPM property descriptions for a description of the properties. In addition, you can set two other properties:
  2. Property What It Does

    Automatically started

Whether the PPM automatically starts when the system is started.

NOTE To set the PPM to automatically start on a system where the Content Engine and Process Engine reside on the same server, make sure the Process Engine Services Manager service is configured to log on using the local fnsw account rather than Local System account. Use the Windows Services utility to configure the Process Engine Services Manager. (FileNet Web Services Client and Open Client: If you have upgraded from eProcess 5.0.0 or earlier, the Process Engine Services Manager is named Panagon eProcess Services Manager.)

    Automatically restarted

Whether the PPM automatically restarts if an error occurs that causes the process to stop.

  3. Click the Start icon on the Process Service Administrator toolbar.
To stop the PPM

Select the item in the folder, and click the stop icon on the Process Service Administrator toolbar.

NOTE You cannot mix the use of the Process Service Administrator and the Process Task Manager for starting and stopping the PPM. You must use the same method to start and stop the PPM. For example, if you used the Process Task Manager to start the PPM, you must again use that tool to stop the PPM.
