Integrating with the Process Simulator - FileNet P8 Platform only

The Process Simulator simulates workflows by performing "what-if" scenarios, providing business analysts with important information that helps streamline business processes. The following provide full information about this optional feature:

As a workflow administrator, you interact with the Process Simulator in these ways:
  • On the Simulation Engine, you use the Process Task Manager to configure the Process Simulator and to identify the associated Process Analyzer Engine. See Process Simulator in the Help for Process Task Manager for detailed instructions.
  • On the Application Engine or web server, you must update the site preferences. See General settings for Simulator Engine for further details.
  • In order to allow access to the Process Simulator applications, you must add the appropriate users and groups to the PSConsole and PSDesigner groups. See About workflow security for more information about these groups.

Simulation life span and disk space usage

When a user runs a simulation, he sets the simulation life span—the length of time the simulation data remains available for use by the Simulation Animator. While there is no limitation on the maximum life span, each set of simulation data requires a significant amount of disk space on the Simulation Engine; the user's personal requirements and the limits of your Simulation Engine should be used to determine the optimum life span.

You can restart the Process Simulator on the Simulation Engine to remove all existing simulation data and increase available disk space.
