Expression editor examples

Expression example 1: Create an string expression that includes the value of a data field.
   Workflow data fields: Customer_Name (string)
   Expression to build:  "Customer Name is  "+Customer_Name

  1. On the Expression Builder dialog, type the following in the Expression box:
       "Customer Name is  "
  2. From the Operators dropdown box, select +.
  3. From the Item Picker list, choose Data Fields, then choose Customer_Name.
  4. Click the Insert button.

Expression example 2: Use a function in an expression.
   Workflow data fields: Customer_ID (integer)
   Expression to build:  "Customer ID is  "+convert(Customer_ID,string)

  1. On the Expression Builder dialog, type the following in the Expression box:
       "Customer ID is  "
  2. From the Operators list, select +.
  3. From the Item list, choose Functions.
  4. Choose String, then choose convert.
  5. Click the Insert button.
  6. In the Expression box, select source_exp.
  7. From the Item list, choose Data Fields, then select Customer_ID.
  8. Click the Insert button.
  9. In the expression, select type_name, then type string.
