environment

This command allows you to display user and system environment records. You can also use it to add or remove user environment records, and to flush cached records.

TIP Cached records are updated automatically every four hours. Use the flush option when a group has been updated in the LDAP Directory Service and you want the cached information to be updated immediately.

Information stored in user environment records includes the user name and user preferences such as email address, step notification preferences, and tracker notification preferences.

Syntax

The syntax varies depending on the action you choose to perform.

Action to perform Syntax

View user environment records

environment v <record_set> <user_name>

View system environment records

environment v <record_set> @SYS

Remove user environment records

environment r <record_set> (<user_id> | <user_name>)

Parameters

record_set

Enter "p" for permanently stored user information, including user preferences; enter "c" for a list of the currently cached users. Both options display the user_id required to removed cached users.

user_name

The user name. For FileNet Web Services Client and Open Client systems, you can also enter a full three-part name. Enter an asterisk (*) to list or remove all users.

user_id The ID associated with the user name. You can find this information with the "view user" option. Enter an asterisk (*) to remove all users.

TIP In vwtool, you can enter parameters on the command line (following the command name) or let vwtool prompt you for the information by entering just the command name. Generally, we recommend prompt mode for all but the simplest commands. Entering the parameters on the command line is intended primarily for script-driven input.

NOTE If necessary, change to the desired isolated region prior to executing this command.
