Starting and stopping the Process Service

Use the Process Task Manager to start and stop the Process Service.

NOTE In a multi-server system, you must start the primary Process Engine first and stop the primary Process Engine last.

TIP On a Windows-based system, you can configure the Process Engine to start automatically when booted.

To start Process Service

  1. Select the Process Service node.
  2. Click Start on the toolbar.

To stop Process Service

  1. In the feature pane, select Process Service.
  2. Click Stop on the toolbar.

CAUTION If your Windows Process Engine is configured as a cluster, you must use the appropriate cluster administration tool (the Microsoft Cluster Administrator or the Oracle Fail Safe Manager) rather than the Process Task Manager or other Process Service tools to:

  • Start, stop, and restart the Process Service software.
  • Start and stop the PPM service.

Failure to stop the Process Engine or the PPM service using the cluster administration tools will initiate a fail-over reaction from the cluster service.
