Install the Java Runtime Environment (JRE)
To run the FileNet P8 Process applications, such as Process Configuration Console
and Process Designer, the appropriate
version of the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) must be present on your client computer.
Supported versions of Java Runtime Environment |
FileNet P8 Platform/Workplace |
JRE 1.3.1 and JRE 1.4.0 |
FileNet Web Services Client |
JRE 1.4.0 and JRE 1.4.2 |
FileNet Open Client |
JRE 1.3.1 and JRE 1.4.0 |
Confirm the JRE version
Before you start an application that requires the JRE, you should confirm that you have the correct
version of the JRE on your local computer.
- From the Start menu, select Settings
> Control Panel. Look for the Java Plug-in.
- Do one of the following, depending on what you find:
- If there is no Java Plug-in present on your computer, the first time you start one of
the Process applications, you will be prompted to download JRE 1.4. Follow the instructions
to install the software. During the installation process, click the Browser
tab and enter the following settings:
- De-select (clear) the Internet Explorer option.
- If you will be using Netscape 6.0 or later, select the Netscape option.
- If a JRE is present, verify the version number by opening the Java
Plug-in and selecting the About tab.
- If the JRE version is 1.4, click the Browser tab
and verify the settings as above.
- If the JRE version is not 1.4, or 1.3.0 or 1.3.1, depending on the client interface you
are running, use Install/Uninstall Programs to remove the JRE before you run one of the Process
applications, then continue as in step 2.a above.
If
you have been running other JRE versions or other versions of FileNet software, we suggest that
you use the following steps to clear obsolete settings:
- For Internet Explorer, select Internet Options on the Tools
menu. On the General tab, click Delete Files, and then Delete
all offline content.
- For Netscape, select Preferences on the Edit
menu. Under the Advanced category, click Cache, and then delete
both memory cache and disk cache.
- In the Control Panel, open the Java Plug-in. On the Cache
tab, click Clear Cache.
