Developing Enterprise Application Integration

If you need to integrate FileNet P8 Platform with an existing enterprise application, like SAP, PeopleSoft, Siebel, etc., you can use either the Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) framework that already exists within your organization, or you can use the Process EAI connector (using the FileNet-supplied IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server).

Note For a limited or small-scale integration, for example to access a single type of object from an external database as an attachment, you may wish to instead create a Work Performer using the Process Engine Component Integrator. For details, see the Building a Component-Integrator-based Work Performer topic.

If you choose to use FileNet's IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server, use the FileNet P8 Platform Enterprise Manager (EM) and the Configuration Console to define EAI business objects, as follows:

Defining these EAI business objects will typically involve exporting static Business Objects (BOs) and Application Specific Business Objects (ASBOs) from the Content Engine and/or the Process Engine to the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server. Once the business objects are available to the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server, you can use the FileNet P8 Platform Business Objects in application collaborations.

Use the IBM CrossWorlds InterChange Server Process and Map Designers to create the collaborations and to define scenarios that can use the Content Engine and Process Engine ASBOs.

More Information

See Overview of FileNet Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) for the Process Engine for additional information on integrating a Process application with an outside system or application using the Process EAI Connector.
