Specify a work queue as the step destination

You assign a step to a work queue in either of the following cases:

  • Any one of a number of participants, rather than a specific participant, can process the step. Participants who have access to the work queue can select items to work on, in the manner of a "typing pool."
  • An automated process with access to the queue will process the step.

To specify a work queue as the step destination

  1. Select the step in the workflow map.
  2. In the Step Properties pane, click the General tab.
  3. Under Step Destination, click Work Queue, then choose the queue from the list of available work queues.
  4. If a specific operation defined for that work queue will process the step, choose from the list of operations on the Parameters tab. If you choose an operation, the parameters for that operation are listed (read-only) on the Parameters tab. See Specify operation parameters.

TIP Work queues are created and administered by a system administrator using the Process Configuration Console.
