Open assigned work

When a workflow is running, work items assigned to you and awaiting processing are stored in your Inbox.

To open a work item in your Inbox

  1. On the Process page, select the User Queues tab.
  2. Click Inbox to display work items assigned to you. See below for a description of the list of work items.
  3. Open an item in the list by clicking on the Subject text.

    When you open a work item, the appropriate step processor displays instructions, data, attachments (documents and folders), response choices, and other resources that you need to complete the work.

Each item in your inbox displays the following information.

Name Description

Select

Click the radio button to select the work item without opening it. You can then open the item by clicking the Open button on the toolbar.

Locked state

A lock symbol displays if the item is locked. You will generally see this symbol only if you have closed the browser without completing or saving the work item.

Subject

The name or brief description of the workflow. Click the subject text to open the work item.

Step name

The name of the step in the workflow to which the work item corresponds.

Status

The current status of this work item: possible states are In Progress, Overdue, Reminder.

In Progress status is in effect while the work item is in your Inbox unless the time in your Inbox exceeds a deadline or reminder of a deadline for the step.

Overdue status indicates that the time in your Inbox has exceeded a deadline set for the step.

Reminder status indicates that the time in your Inbox has exceeded a reminder set for a deadline for the step.

Date Received

The date and time this item entered your Inbox.

You can also access your Tracker queue from the User Queues tab. See Open Tracker items for information about the items in the Tracker queue

   

TIP In addition to receiving work items in your Inbox, you can choose to receive new assigned work by email. See Set user preferences.
