The IP address of the Process Engine.
You can safely change a servers IP address without affecting
the Process Engine,
provided the following rules are observed:
- Do not change a servers IP address while another server
in the
is in the process of being deleted.
- If you are using the Domain Name System (DNS), make sure that
you update the DNS server host table to correspond to the changes
you make.
For instructions on changing your servers IP address, see
the documentation for your server platform.
NOTE If
you change the IP address, make sure you update the hosts file on
the related servers. The hosts file must contain the PC server name
and Internet Protocol (IP) address of all computers this Process Engine
will communicate with remotely, including the database server and
primary and additional Process Engines.
The location of the hosts file depends on where the operating system
software is installed; for example, for Windows the file might be
in \winnt\system32\drivers\etc, for UNIX, the file is in /etc/hosts.
