General steps are usually assigned either to a user queue for processing
by one or more specific participants, or to a work queue. Steps assigned
to a work queue can be processed by either one of a pool of participants,
or by an automated process. In some cases, a general step is not assigned
to either a participant or to a work queue. These steps are processed
immediately by the system and cannot be selected when they are active.
The Properties pane displays the following for the selected general step.
Step tab
The current state of the work items at the selected step. See Symbols
used in Process Tracker
for a description of the icons used.
Name
The name of the step. To display the
properties of a different step, select it from the list. A symbol
indicates steps that are in progress.
Occurrence
How many times a step has been visited.
To display the information related to a specific occurrence, select
a number from the list.
Queue
The name of the work queue associated
with the current step or Inbox for steps processed by a specific
participant.
Instructions
The instructions associated with the
current step.
View by
Allows you to specify how to display the step information: step
view or participant view. (If the step has only one participant,
the views are equivalent.)
Step view presents an overview
of all of the individual participants' work items.
Participant list contains a
list of users who have completed the step or whose work is still
in progress. Note that it does not list participants who have
reassigned work to others. Beside each participant is an icon
that indicates the status of the work. For a list of the symbols
used in the status, see Symbols used in
Process Tracker.
If the step has not been visited, Participant list contains a list
of the participants assigned by the workflow author.
Use the tabs in the center of the Properties pane to view and edit specific
areas.
Display the routes and conditions for the current step. You cannot
modify this information.
Rules
Display the type of execution of any rule sets (Before Execution,
On Save, or After Completion), and the names of the rule sets. See
About rules for additional
information about rules functionality.
