assertbehavior

This command displays and defines the behavior used on assertion errors. The assertbehavior command is intended for use by FileNet engineering staff only.

Syntax

assertbehavior <change_option> <raise> <abort> <stop>

Parameters

change_option

Enter "y" to enter new behavior options, or "y" to leave them as is.

raise

This option toggles the raise signal mode of the server software.

When the raise signal state is TRUE, the system breaks on an assertion error when being debugged.

When the raise signal state is FALSE, the system does not break on an assertion errors.

abort

This option toggles the abort mode of the server software.

When the abort state is TRUE, the system aborts execution of the program when an error occurs.

When the abort state is FALSE, the system does not abort on an errors.

stop

This option toggles the stop mode of the server.

When the stop state is TRUE, the system halts a process that has a serious internal error and also halts any process that tries to log additional trace information. So, you can use stop together with the trace command to freeze the processing of the system, thus allowing for debugging of internal errors.

When the stop state is FALSE, both a process that has a serious internal error and a process that tries to log additional trace information continue running.

TIP In vwtool, you can enter parameters on the command line (following the command name) or let vwtool prompt you for the information by entering just the command name. Generally, we recommend prompt mode for all but the simplest commands. Entering the parameters on the command line is intended primarily for script-driven input.
