Launch daemon (automatic workflow launching)

The Launch Daemon folder allows you to manage the automatic launching of workflows when a document or document class triggers an appropriate event on systems using the FileNet Web Services Client or Open Client interface. You can start, stop, and configure the Launch Daemon in this folder.

To configure automatic launching

Double-click the entry in the Launch Daemon folder to configure the automatic launching of workflows. The current or default information automatically displays. You can keep this information or change it as needed.

Property What It Does

Polling Interval

The interval, in seconds, at which the Launch Daemon polls the Audit Log table of the object store or librarys for workflow events. The default value is 5 seconds.

CS Username

WorkflowDaemon. You cannot modify this name; it is required by Process Service. The Launch Daemon logs on to the object store or librarys (configured on the Web Server via IDM Configure), and queries and modifies the Audit Log table via this username.

CS User Password

The password associated with the Content Services (CS) username.

CAUTION If the password of the user designated in CS Username changes, you must update it here as well. Failure to do so will prevent automatic launching from working properly.

Workflow user name

The Process Service username. The default is Administrator.

Workflow User Password

The password associated with the workflow username.

Debug Level

The level of debugging information to be provided. The debug level is normally set to 0. Turn debugging on only at the request of your FileNet support representative.

Each debug level provides progressively more debugging information. Your FileNet support representative will provide you with the appropriate value.

Debug File

The name and path of the file containing the debug output.

Automatically started

Whether the Launch Daemon process automatically starts when the system is started.

Automatically restarted

Whether the Launch Daemon process automatically restarts if an error occurs that causes the process to stop.

To start, stop, or delete the automatic launching process

Select the item in the folder, and click the start, stop, or delete icon on the toolbar.

CAUTION Do not rename or remove the Document Class custom property in Content Services. This property is required for document class-based functionality such as automatic launch; renaming or removing the property will disrupt this functionality.
