Manage document links

Create, edit, or delete links from a document to a workflow definition. See About linking for general information.

NOTE To create, edit, or delete a link between a workflow definition and a document in the Content Services (CS) library, you must be logged on as a member of the Administrator's group on the CS library.

To create, edit, or delete a link from a document to a workflow definition

  1. If necessary, use the following steps to display the Document/Workflow Links dialog:
    1. In FileNet Web Services Client, select and log on to the CS library containing the document.
    2. Locate the desired document.
    3. Click the radio button to the left of the document name to select the document.
    4. Click Link Workflow on the lower toolbar.
  2. On the Document/Workflow Links dialog, the links already defined for the document display in the table. Take one of the following actions:
    - To create a new link, click Add.
    - To modify an existing link, select the link to modify, then click Edit.
    - To delete an existing link, select the link, then click Delete.

NOTE To create a link between a workflow definition and another workflow definition being used as a document, use the procedure in Manage workflow links rather than the procedure in this topic.

NOTE A link between a document and a workflow definition is specific to the workflow definition version. If a workflow definition changes, a new version is created. To use the new version, you must create a link from the document to that version of the workflow definition; see Manage updates to workflow definitions. By contrast, when you create a new version of a document that is linked to a workflow definition, it is not necessary to create a new link. The existing link is maintained.
