Setting Up for Process Development
Setting up your development system(s) for Process application development involves
a number of required steps for all platforms and web applications and a number
of steps that vary depending upon which platform and web application you are
using.
- The Process Developer Setup Checklist
provides a step-by-step checklist (with links to detailed information) to
take you from the planning stage to having your setup complete and ready for
you to start application development.
- If you are setting up for Process development with FileNet Web Services
and/or FileNet Open Client or planning development without a FileNet web application,
you must install PJAC. For information, see Process Java
Applets Connectivity (PJAC). Note that PJAC is not required if you are
using FileNet Workplace as your web application.
- Configuring the Java Runtime Environment
(JRE) and installing the Process Development
Environment are required for all development systems/environments (Process
Development Environment content and procedure vary depending upon whether
you are using FileNet Workplace, FileNet Web Services, or FileNet Open Client
as your web application).
- If you are developing a COM-based Process application, you must set
up your development system for JiGlue COM development. This is required
for all application development with FileNet Web Services and FileNet Open
Client, but is necessary with FileNet Workplace for COM applications only.
Also there are a number of programming guidelines and issues associated with
developing with the JiGlue COM Bridge that you should be aware of before you
start development.
- If you are developing ASP-hosted applications (with FileNet Web Services),
particularly if you are developing with a visual tool or IDE such as Visual
InterDev or Visual Studio, you should set
up your development system for Process ASP development.
- If you are developing ASPX-hosted applications (with FileNet Open Client
on the ASP.NET platform), you should set
up your development system for Process ASP.NET development.
