Specify a participant to process a step

You can specify one or more workflow participants to process the work represented by a general step. See About workflow participants for general information.

To specify a participant to process a step

  1. Select the step in the workflow map.
  2. In the Properties pane, click the General tab.
  3. Under Step Destination, click Participants, then click the Add button to select participants.
  4. On the Participant Selection dialog, select the users, groups, or workflow groups to process this step. See Participant selection for additional information about selecting users..

NOTE  For systems using Active Directory, if a base group has been set above Users and Groups, members of that Builtin group will be available for selection in user and group lists. These users should not be used as workflow participants.

TIP The list of workflow groups contains a special group, F_Originator that represents the name of the user who launched the workflow. At launch time, the system assigns the name of the launch user to that workflow group.

NOTE  If a question mark (?) is displayed next to the name of a participant, that user is unknown—the name might have been removed from the list of users.

If you remove that user name from the list of participants for a step, that name cannot be re-added.
