Grant access rights

Before anyone can use the system, you must grant access to the Process Analyzer database. Use the Microsoft Analysis Manager to create roles and assign users. See the online help for the Analysis Manager for more information and detailed instructions.

CAUTION The following procedure grants access to all users in the selected domain. Use this procedure only as a guide to creating roles, as each site's security requirements will differ.

To grant all users access to the Process Analyzer database

  1. Start the Microsoft Analysis Manager.
  2. Navigate to the VMAE database. If the Process Analyzer database is a default instance, the name of the database is VMAE; if the Process Analyzer database is a named instance, the instance name is appended.
  3. Right-click on Database Roles, and select Manage Roles from the context menu.
  4. To create a new role, click the New button. To modify an existing role, select it from the list and click the Edit button.
  5. If adding a new role, enter a descriptive name in the Role name field.
  6. To add users to the role, click the Add button.
  7. From the List Names From drop-down list, select a domain. All of the users of the selected domain display in the Names list below.
  8. Select Everyone from the Names list. Click Add, then OK.
  9. Select the Cubes tab. Click the Check All button. Click OK.
