The Process Analyzer configuration will become corrupted if any of the reserved names below are used for field names in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Release:  Process Analyzer 1.0  and  Process Analyzer 2.0.1

Description:                                                                                                                                                     The Process Analyzer configuration will become corrupted if any of the reserved names below are used for field names in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool.

It is important that fields added in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool do not have these names:

"Data Source",  "Queue" ,  "Status" ,  "User" ,  "Workflow" , "Time" ,  "Workflow Definition" ,  "Incoming" , "Outgoing" ,  "Queue Load" ,  "Work Item Count" ,  "Workflow Count" ,  "Time Usage Minutes" , "Productivity Count" ,  "Completed Work Item Count" ,  "Avg. Completion Time Minutes" ,  "Avg. Completion Time Hours" ,  "Avg. Completion Time Days" ,  "Workload" ,  "Completed Workflow Count" , "Cycle Time Minutes" ,  "Average Completion Time Minutes" ,  "Average Completion Time Hours" , and "Average Completion Time Days" .

Symptoms:                                                                                                                                                 Process Analyzer stops working

Action Required:

If any of the reserved words or phrases listed in the ‘Description’ section have been used, the Process Analyzer must be uninstalled, then reinstalled.

How to Check if a System is Affected?

1.  On the Process Analyzer server, go into the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool:    Start -> Programs -> FileNET Process Analyzer -> Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool

2.  Click on the Data Fields tab

3.  Check the names in the Field column. If any of the names are exactly the same as one of the names listed in the above list,  the PA system may have this problem

For example, the field name “Data Source” in the Field column indicates a potential problem. But the field names “Data_Source”  “DataSource”, “Data”, and “Source” are acceptable.

If the Field column contains one of the reserved names, then the PA system has this problem if the PA cubes have been processed since adding that field. In most cases, the cubes will be processed, because the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool prompts users to process the cubes immediately.

If the Field column does not contain any of the reserved names, then the system is not affected.

What Systems Are Potentially Exposed?

A Process Analyzer system is potentially exposed if the associated eProcess workflow server has a user-defined data field with a name that exactly matches one of the reserved names AND that data field is exposed in the workflow event log. In this case, system administrators must be extremely careful not to add one of those fields in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool. System administrators must also make sure they do not change the Unique Name of any of the fields added in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration tool to one of the reserved names.

If a user-defined data field is not exposed in the workflow event log, then it is not visible in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool.  In this case, it is safe to configure the PA system with any of the available field names.

Are  ‘eProcess’  Systems Affected?

eProcess systems are not affected by this problem, even if they have a data field with a reserved name. If an eProcess system has a user-defined data field with a reserved name, then it is possible to configure this data field in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool with an extra step that will prevent this problem. You can configure a Unique Name for that field, which will be used by Process Analyzer instead of the original field name.

To add a Process Analyzer user-defined field in the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool, when the associated eProcess exposed field is one of the reserved names:

1.  Open the Process Analyzer Engine Configuration Tool.

2.  Go to the Data Fields tab, Connect to the workflow server, and click on the Add button.

3.  On the Data Field properties dialog, select the user defined data field with the reserved name.

4.  In the Unique Name edit box, change the reserved name to an expression that does not match any of the reserved names.

5.  Now you can click the OK button to add the field with the unique name.
