Due to OS/400 naming standards, the Communications System/400 product is named 5Z33-215 and PTF UQ21696 is named 2UQ1696 on OS/400. UQ21696 includes CS/400 year 2000 support. The following topics are covered in this UQ21696 cover letter: o PREREQUISITES o INSTALLING PTF UQ21696 o LIST OF OBJECTS o LIST OF APARS FIXED o NOTES FOR UQ21696 PREREQUISITES ------------- Program Temporary Fix UQ21696 requires Communications System/400 (5733-215) Release 1.0. Please ensure you are at this level before proceeding with the installation of this PTF. Program Temporary Fix UQ21696 has no prerequisite PTFs. PTF UQ21696 supersedes the prior limited-availability PTF UQ17437 for CS/400 Release 1.0. Because UQ21696 is a cumulative PTF (it includes UQ17437), UQ21696 may be installed either directly onto CS/400 base Release 1.0, or onto PTF UQ17437. INSTALLING PTF UQ21696 (Identified as 2UQ1696 on OS/400) ---------------------- PTF UQ21696 should be installed using the LODPTF (Load PTF) and APYPTF (Apply PTF) OS/400 commands. Follow these directions to update your system and install PTF UQ21696, using the method applying to the distribution media: o Installing the PTF from save file received via network, such as the internet. 1. Shutdown the Communications System/400, if it is currently running. Exit the main menu. 2. To use the OS/400 commands, you should logon as QSECOFR. 3. Create a save file named UQ21696. Using ftp or the transfer utility of your choice, copy the PTF in binary mode to the save file on the AS/400. 4. Load the PTF using LODPTF. You will be loading from save file UQ21696 to product 5Z33-215 PTF 2UQ1696. 5. Apply PTF 2UQ1696 using APYPTF. 6. The PTF installation is now complete. You can restart the Communications System/400. o Installing the PTF from tape. 1. Shutdown the Communications System/400, if it is currently running. Exit the main menu. 2. To use the OS/400 commands, you should logon as QSECOFR. 3. Load the PTF using LODPTF. You will be loading product 5Z33-215, PTF 2UQ1696 from your tape device. Specify *NO in the "Copy PTF cover letter" field; a copy of this cover letter will be installed in member UQ21696 of the COVERLTR file in the CS2 library. 4. Apply PTF 2UQ1696 using APYPTF. 5. The PTF installation is now complete. You can restart the Communications System/400. NOTES FOR UQ21696 ----------------- Update to publication --------------------- The following is an update to the DAE Installing and Configuring Communications System/400 manual. The update applies to the Using the Communications System for OS/400 Interface appendix, Create a New Node section. | You will need to log on as QSECOFR to create a new node. Note to APPC Users ------------------ If you have already configured APPC for the CS/400 node, then you will have a *PGM object in library QGPL with the same name as each of your CS/400 nodes. E.g. if the nodename=ABC, there will be a *PGM object in QGPL named ABC. Do the following: 1. DLTPGM(QGPL/xxx) where xxx is the nodename 2. CRTDUPOBJ OBJ(CS2APPTP) FROMLIB(CS2) OBJTYPE(*PGM) TOLIB(QGPL) + NEWOBJ(xxx) 3. CHGOBJOWN OBJ(CS2/xxx) OBJTYP(*PGM) NEWOWN(CS2ADM) This must be done for every CS/400 node you run on your AS/400.
