The batching algorithm
of the Sterling Warehouse Management System creates
optimal batches for all the eligible tasks for a task type.
You can define batching in the task type configuration
by selecting the "Use Sterling WMS to plan trips by batching tasks"
option. For more information about batching and how batch size is
determined, see the Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Foundation:
Warehouse Management System Concepts Guide.
You
can configure the batching algorithm for:
- Shipment
based batching — The Sterling Warehouse Management System stamps
shipment number on the pick task reference when outbound batch picking
tasks are configured to Pick into equipment. The batch size is determined
by the size of the equipment used in the task and the maximum number
of shipments allowed per location of the equipment.
- Container based batching — The Sterling Warehouse Management System stamps
container number on the pick task reference when outbound batch picking
tasks are configured to Pick into container. The batch size is determined
by the size of the equipment used in the task and the maximum number
of containers allowed per location of the equipment.
