Physical kit

A physical kit is maintained as a single item and is not disintegrated into components. It is considered a finished product at a node or at the time of dispatch. For example, a cellular phone with its battery and handset is a preconfigured physical kit.

Physical kits can be of the preconfigured type, such as a cellular phone. For example, a seller may configure a laptop with a 250 GB hard drive, 3 GB RAM, and a CD-RW/DVD-RW drive, and sell the laptop as a single item. Because the laptop comprises different components that cannot be sold separately, the laptop is a physical kit.

The inventory for a physical kit is maintained at the kit item (parent) level.
