Deployment utilities enable you to customize Sterling Warehouse Management System to suit your business needs.
Many users implement new features or database changes as separate projects. The Change Project Management feature allows you to implement new functionalities (projects) on a staging or a testing (source) environment before implementing them on a production (target) environment to minimize operational errors. After the changes are validated, they are published on the production environment using Change Data Export and Change Data Import agents.
During a network outage, a store’s system disconnects from the corporate server causing interruption to the normal operation of the store. To avoid such issues and to complete a transaction, each store maintains a backup system that continues to process the orders in offline mode. The configuration data in the offline server is kept in sync with the data available in the corporate server. As soon as a network outage is reported, the store’s system connects to the offline server for creating and updating orders. Data Sync’s Change Data Export and Change Data Import agents can be used to deploy to offline environments.
To make it easier to track versions of configuration data, or sets of changes to configuration data, Sterling Warehouse Management System includes the Configuration Data Versioning Tool, which is part of the Configuration Deployment Tool (CDT). It enables you to capture changes from a source database, compare and deploy them onto a target database (this can be the same or a different database). This tool is designed to migrate data that is modified as part of a normal day-to-day operation. Note that the Configuration Deployment Tool can be used to deploy configuration data that is the result of an upgrade, but it should not be used to perform the data upgrade itself.
The Rapid Deployment Tool (RDT) can be utilized for the rapid deployment of Sterling Warehouse Management System and its features include interface field mapping documents and initial data loading.
Product support deployment models allow you to choose the tools that help you manage each environment, such as Data Sync and CDT. Deployment models consist of sharded, offline, promising server, support commerce, and so on.
