Adding a component to an item

You can add a kit component to an item.

About this task

To add a kit component to an item:

Procedure

  1. In the Item Details screen, choose the Components tab.
  2. If you are using the Sterling Selling and Fulfillment Foundation inventory costing feature and you have identified the kit as a physical kit, select the cost factor group you want applied for work-in-progress cost computations from the Cost Factor Group to be Used for the Physical Kit Cost Calculations drop-down list. This list contains the cost factor groups defined by the catalog organization's Primary Enterprise.
  3. If you identified the kit as a bundle, select the fulfillment mode for the bundle. Choose one of the following:
    • Ships Together - The components in this bundle can be procured from different nodes and then merged at the shipping node to be shipped as a single shipment.
    • Ships Independently - the components in this bundle are treated as independent lines, shipping when they are available. As such, they may be delivered on different days.
    • Delivers Together - this bundle can be shipped from multiple nodes. Delivery schedules are driven by the expected delivery date. Bundle components are shipped according the latest expected delivery date of a component, so that all components can be delivered together.
  4. From the Components table, click the Create New icon.
  5. The Component Details pop-up window is displayed.
  6. Enter information in the applicable fields. Refer to the list that follows for field value descriptions.
  7. Choose the Save icon.
