This method of installation uses IBM Launchpad and requires
a Web Browser. It provides a graphical, IBM Installation Manager wizard.
If you have not yet downloaded IBM® Installation
Manager, Launchpad will check for this and automatically offer to
download Installation Manager for you.
Before you begin
If you are upgrading from a previous release, stop any
running instances of the previous installation.
Procedure
- Close all open programs and any command prompt windows.
- From the folder location of your downloaded product files,
or if you are using a DVD, from the folder location that your inserted
DVD opens to, enter the following command:
- Double-click on the launchpad.exe file,
which launches the IBM Installation
Manager and begins the installation of the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System software.
- Before you execute launchpad.sh,
you must first do the following:
- Ensure that launchpad.sh has execute permission.
In the directory where launchpad.sh is located, enter
the following commands:
chmod +x launchpad.sh
chmod +x launchpad/*.sh
- Export your browser location using the following command:
export BROWSER=/usr/bin/mozilla
You
can replace /usr/bin/mozilla with the path to whatever
browser you prefer.
Now you can issue the ./launchpad.sh command,
which starts the Launchpad, opens the IBM Installation
Manager, and begins the installation of the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System software.
- Select the language in which you want to install.
- Select the link to install the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System software.
Note that you can also select the link to the IBM Information Center,
which contains all of the documentation.
- Review the installation packages to be installed.
- Review and accept the license agreement.
- Accept the default location for the shared resources directory,
or browse to a new location.
- Accept the default location for Installation Manager directory,
or enter a different location.
- Review and accept the package group to be installed and
the installation directory, or browse to a new location.
- Select the languages for which you want to install the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System language
pack translations.
Note: By default, the English language
is selected.
- Select the appropriate features to install. More information
about each feature is provided under Details.
- Enable Sharded Database Mode - Available for Advanced and Enterprise
Licensees only.
- Enable Upgrade - Sharded upgrades work only on previously sharded
environments.
Note: - By default, the Product Files feature is selected.
- Select the appropriate deployment type for IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System 9.4.
- Production.
- Non Production.
- By default, the option to copy JDK to your installation
directory is selected. If you do not want to copy JDK to your installation
directory, clear the check box and enter the location and name of
the JDK home directory. Copy the following jars to the <JAVA_HOME>/jre/lib/endorsed directory.
- serializer.jar
- xalan.jar
- xercesImpl.jar
- xml-apis.jar
These jars are included in the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System software
installer image.
Note: If the endorsed directory
is not present in <JAVA_HOME>/jre/lib, create
a new directory and name it endorsed. Copy the
jars to the endorsed directory, and proceed with your installation.
- If you enabled the checkbox "Enable Sharded Database Mode"
earlier, the next screen shows a check box at the top "Enable mixed
database vendor support". In 9.4 release Sterling Warehouse Management System does
not support mixed database vendor. Ignore the checkbox "Enable mixed
database vendor support." and select your database vendor Oracle or DB2® from the list. Click Add Jars
to browse to the JDBC driver file for Oracle or DB2. Repeat to add
the license file for DB2 (required).
Then enter the information for the remaining database fields.
- If doing a nonsharded installation, enter information
for the following fields:
To test the connection to the database, click Validate Connection.
If a message saying the connection failed is displayed, verify the
information you entered in all fields and try validating again.
- If doing a sharded database installation, click
Add Jars to browse to the JDBC driver file. Browse to the Jars for
Oracle or DB2. Repeat to add
the license file for DB2 (required).
For each shard type, you can select the button
Reuse existing
database shard configuration, which auto-fills the required fields
with existing database information, or
Create new database shard
configuration, which prompts you to enter the following database
information for Statistics, Configuration, Master, and Transaction
connections.
Note: For Sterling Warehouse Management System Master
and Transaction connections must point to the same database schema.
For each shard, you can test the connection to the database by
clicking Validate Connection. If a message saying the connection
failed is displayed, verify the information you entered in all fields
and try validating again.
- On the Database Details screen:
- If using DB2, choose
whether to use multibyte support.
- If using Oracle, there are no additional database properties
to configure; click Next.
- Enter the ADDITIONAL_ANT_JAVA_TASK_ARGS and ADDITIONAL_ANT_COMPILER_TASK_ARGS memory
parameter settings for your operating system. For more information,
refer Memory parameter settings
- Click Install to start the installation. A
progress bar is displayed at the bottom of the screen.
- When the installation is complete, a status
screen is displayed. Click Finish. You can also
view the installation log from this screen.
Note: If the installed_data directory
is not removed by the post installation cleanup process, you can delete
it. It is only used for installation.
- Exit Installation Manager.
- Continue to post-installation tasks and
configuration procedures that you must complete before running the IBM Sterling
Warehouse Management System software.
