The information center displays the documentation for CICS Transaction Server, and optionally its related family products.
The information center runs within an Eclipse-based framework, known as the help system. Each product has one or more document plug-ins that are displayed in the information center. If you are setting up the information center to run over your organization's intranet or as a local installation on your own machine, you can select which document plug-ins you want to install in your information center. Full information about setting up the information center is in the readme file that is provided when you receive the information center on CD or download it from the IBM Publications Center.
You view the information center in your usual Web browser. The information center window is divided into two panes, the Contents pane on the left side of the window, and the Topic pane on the right side.
The Contents pane displays different items depending on the tab you have selected at the bottom of the pane. The default display shows the navigation structure for the information center. The Contents pane can also show the results of your most recent search, or (in an information center installed locally on your machine) your list of saved bookmarks.
The Topic pane displays the content of the topics that you select from the Contents pane. If you are not sure where to look first, learning paths and information roadmaps are available in some plug-ins to help you find suitable material.
If you want to expand the Contents pane or the Topic pane to
fill the whole screen, select the Maximize button in that
pane (
).
A cascading style sheet (CSS) controls the appearance of the information center. However, the text size remains flexible. The text is displayed in the size indicated in your Web browser settings.
The instructions for changing the text or font size vary between browser brands and versions. Consult the browser product documentation for instructions.
In Microsoft Internet Explorer, look for the menu choice,
. In Mozilla browsers, look for the menu choice, .When you navigate to topics in the information center, browsers do not normally display the full URL for the topic. The URL displayed in the browser's location bar (address bar) is normally for the information center's Welcome page.
If you want to send someone a link to a topic in the information center, send them the full URL which is displayed in the footer for the topic. When this URL is pasted into a browser, it opens the information center from the Internet location where it is provided by IBM, and displays the correct topic in the Topic pane.
