Information center overview

The information center displays the documentation for CICS® Universal Client.

Navigating in the information center

The Navigation view (Contents) on the left side of the interface, commonly called the Contents pane, displays the titles of the topics in the documentation. The titles are displayed in a table of contents or navigation tree structure.

Select the topic titles in the navigation tree to display the topic content in the pane on the right hand side.

Use the Back (Go Back) and Forward (Go Forward) buttons to navigation within the history of viewed topics.

To return to the table of contents after running a search, select the Contents tab (Contents) at the bottom of the Contents pane.

If you want to expand the Contents pane or the main panel to fill the whole screen, select the Maximize button (Maximize).

Synchronizing the table of contents

When you follow a link within a topic in the pane on the right, the navigation tree does not automatically change to display and highlight the new topic. To see where the new topic fits in the navigation tree and synchronize the two views, click the Refresh button (Refresh / Show Current Topic) or the Show in Table of Contents button (Show in Table of Contents). The topic title for the currently displayed topic is highlighted in the navigation tree. You can also use this button when you want to find out where a topic is located that results from a search query.

Bookmarks

Bookmarks are supported with the Internet Explorer browser. If you are using an information center that is deployed over the Internet, you can save bookmarks to your browser favorites menu. If you are using an information center locally on your machine, the bookmarks are saved to the Bookmarks view in the left hand side of the user interface.

Font size adjustment

A cascading style sheet (CSS) governs the appearance of the information center. However, the text size remains flexible. The text is displayed in the size indicated in your Web browser settings.

The instructions for changing the text or font size vary between browser brands and versions. Consult the browser product documentation for instructions. In Microsoft Internet Explorer, look for the menu choice, View > Text size.

In Mozilla browsers, look for the menu choice, View > Text zoom.

Browser support

The information center supports Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 and Mozilla 1.0 and higher. In addition, JavaScript must be enabled in the browser. If you use a different or earlier version of a browser, your pages might format differently and some functions might not work correctly.

Printing

The PDF versions are recommended if you would like to print multiple topics or the whole book. To view the list of PDFs, select the Library and PDFs section of the navigation.

You can print single topics from the information center by selecting the Print button (Print Page).
