Before you install CICS® Universal Client,
perform the following steps as appropriate:
- Check that your operating system is supported; see Supported software for
supported operating systems.
- Log on with administrator privileges.
Only users with Administrator authority can install and uninstall CICS Universal Client to the C:\Program
Files directory. You can have Administrator privileges by being a member of
the local Administrators group or by being a domain Administrator. For Windows® Vista,
elevated authority is required. Alternatively the cicscli variable
can define the configuration file in a directory that can be accessed by a CICS
Transaction gateway administrator.
- Close down any programs that are running, including the following:
- Client daemon (issue
the cicscli -x command)
- Configuration Tool
- The
installation process can upgrade from the CICS Transaction Gateway V5
or later. Remove any other versions of the CICS Transaction Gateway and CICS Universal Client before installing
this product. Remove any beta versions of the product. When a computer is
upgraded from a previous version of Windows to Windows Vista, CICS Transaction GatewayCICS Universal Client must be uninstalled
prior to the Windows upgrade.
- If multisession Terminal Services are installed, ensure
that your session is correctly configured to install new software. Take one
of the following steps:
- Install using Add or Remove Programs on the Control Panel.
- At a command prompt, type change user /install to place
the system in install mode. When the installation has finished, type change
user /execute at the command prompt to return the system to execute
mode.
- If you are migrating from V5.x,
and your existing version of the product uses Network Provider Interface (you
selected the Use Windows credentials for security option
on the Server connection panel of the Configuration Tool),
take the following steps before you install this version:
- At a command prompt, change to this directory:
\Program Files\Common Files\IBM\IBM Integrated Sign On
- Enter bthdinst -u CICSCLI
- Reboot.
- If you are installing the CICS Universal Client onto
a workstation that already has a CICS for Windows server
installed, uninstall the CICS Universal Client that
is supplied with the CICS for Windows server
before you install the CICS Universal Client.
