1.0 About this release

IBM® Rational® Developer for i V7.5 provides tools for building and maintaining native IBM i applications. IBM Rational Developer for i also provides a graphical viewer for IBM i native applications and the ability to graphically edit DDS display files.

Built on Eclipse 3.4.1, an extensible platform for constructing and integrating software tools, IBM Rational Developer for i is an entry point into the IBM Rational Software Delivery Platform series of products.

2.0 Installation information

For information about installing IBM Rational Developer for i, V7.5, including hardware and software requirements, see the IBM Rational Developer for i, V7.5 Installation Guide (InstallationGuide.html) which can be viewed from the installation launchpad.   This file is also stored in the documents directory on the first product CD.

3.0 IBM i Projects in this release

To accommodate integration with IBM Rational Team Concert for i, IBM has changed the way that shared properties of source files and members are stored in i Projects. An operation has been provided to migrate a project to the new format.

If you are on a team and sharing a project through a repository, only one member of the team should perform the migration operation and then share the result with other members of the team.

4.0 Known limitations, problems, and workarounds

Updates, limitations, and known problems about IBM Rational Developer for i V7.5 are documented in the product library at the product Web site for IBM Rational Developer for i (http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rdi/). For a list of updates and APARs, go to the Web site and click Support > Download.

As limitations and problems are discovered and resolved, the IBM Software Support team updates the knowledge base (see http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/rdi/support/). By searching the knowledge base, you can quickly find workarounds or solutions to problems that you experience.
