REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, contention on a journal (*JRN) object for starting and ending journaling of objects and/or moving, renaming, or deleting journaled objects could cause later unpredictable behavior including a failure to attach a new journal receiver and being unable to retrieve journal entries sent to associated remote journals. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SJ00269. This fix is preventative, not corrective. SJ00269 is included in cumulative PTF package C4151750. 22. 29 Mar 2024 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI84775 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE80564 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users running the CRTPFRDTA operating system command or any of the Collection Services jobs (CRTPFRDTA, CRTPFRDTA2, or QYPSPFRHST). REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, CRTPFRDTA fails with message CPD0011 ("Qualifier missing from qualified name") sent to module QPMDINIT. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI85069. Consider temporarily changing the expiration date of all *MGTCOL objects in the configured collection library while the defective PTF is applied to avoid losing data. To create the data, run CRTPFRDTA on any *MGTCOL objects that were created while the defective PTF was applied. SI85069 is included in cumulative PTF package C4151750. 21. 05 Mar 2024 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF71574 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50510 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, an IPL or IASP vary on after a system crash or FlashCopy may fail to recover journaled objects. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF71657 for IBM i 7.5. MF71657 is included in cumulative PTF package C4151750. 20. 10 Jan 2024 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI85576 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5798FAX APAR NUMBER: SE81023 USERS AFFECTED: All users of IBM Facsimile Support for i REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, FAXes being sent using the Submit FAX (SBMFAX) command do not get sent. The associated spool file is in a held status. Releasing the file does not allow it to be sent, but it is instead moved to the QFFSNDERR queue and message FAXC1FA (SNDFAX command not entered for spooled file found on QFFSNDFAX queue) is logged. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI85663, or remove PTF SI85576, or use the SNDFAX command instead of the SBMFAX command. 19. 06 Oct 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI84569 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE80598 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, MCH6801 - Object domain or storage protection error for offset in object QGLDLIBA may be seen alongside failing jobs. RECOMMENDATION: Either remove the PTF or apply fixing PTF SI84813 for IBM i 7.5. SI84813 is included in cumulative PTF package C4151750. 18. 25 Aug 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI84098 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE80391 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF the DNS server and nslookup client network applications fail to run due to missing open source library dependencies. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI84411 for IBM i 7.5. SI84411 is included in cumulative PTF package C3306750. 17. 08 Aug 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70939 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50290 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: Starting the system from an alternate IPL device using SAVSYS media created when the PTF was permanently applied may fail with SRC B6005121. RECOMMENDATION: Permanently apply fixing PTF MF71224. Create new SAVSYS media with the fixing PTF permanently applied. MF71224 is included in cumulative PTF package C3306750. 16. 04 Aug 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF71206 for IBM i 7.5 MF70086 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50297 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users running workloads with high levels of concurrent activity. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, systems running certain workloads with high levels of concurrent activity may experience periods of performance degradation and delays. A LIC internal fairness mechanism intended to allow exclusive operations to occur by briefly blocking concurrent activity may cause abnormally high seize contention. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF71241 for IBM i 7.5. MF71241 is included in cumulative PTF package C3306750. 15. 07 Jul 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI83652 for IBM i 7.5 SI83634 for IBM i 7.5 SI83569 for IBM i 7.5 SI83484 for IBM i 7.5 SI83436 for IBM i 7.5 SI83434 for IBM i 7.5 SI83413 for IBM i 7.5 SI83330 for IBM i 7.5 SI83285 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE80124 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system SQL users executing an SQL INSERT statement using the 3-part naming, fullselect form of the statement. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, SQL INSERT statements using the 3-part naming, fullselect form of the statement and retrieving over 340M of data can fail with a SQL0407. Another symptom for the same statement that uses a date, time, timestamp field is a SQL0180 error. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI84074 for IBM i 7.5. SI84074 is included in cumulative PTF package C3306750. 14. 26 May 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI79363 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE79905 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users creating spooled files with bar codes using the DDS BARCODE keyword. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, creating spooled files containing bar codes may lead to jobs not ending or data corruption. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI83581. Before applying the fixing PTF, it is recommended to permanently remove the defective PTF to avoid permanently applying it. SI83581 is included in cumulative PTF package C3306750. 13. 24 Mar 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70751 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50112 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: This PTF allowed the optimizer to share SQL Common Table Expressions (CTEs) within a Full Outer Join scenario where a common literal value was shared across two different CTEs (most likely within a view). In this scenario incorrect results could occur. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70868 for IBM i 7.5. MF70868 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 12. 24 Feb 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70684 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50069 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: This PTF could allow the optimizer to push a predicate into a shared SQL Common Table Expression (CTE) when it should not. This can result in incorrect results from the query. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70751 for IBM i 7.5. MF70751 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 11. 22 Feb 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70675 for IBM i 7.5 MF70552 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50059 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, systems running multiple consecutive Save While Active sessions may experience performance degradation, including excessive paging in the machine pool, followed by a system termination with SRCB6005121, SRCB6000305, or SRCB6000105. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70757 for IBM i 7.5. MF70757 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 10. 08 Feb 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70682 for IBM i 7.5 MF70583 for IBM i 7.5 MF70581 for IBM i 7.5 MF70504 for IBM i 7.5 MF70402 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA50037 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying this PTF, some Full Outer Join query requests using SQL Common Table Expressions (CTE) may return invalid results. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70684 for IBM i 7.5. MF70684 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 9. 01 Feb 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI79398 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE79238 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, if the physical file contains variable length or LOB columns and is being reorganized (RGZPFM) with ALWCANCEL(*YES), displaying or retrieving entries from the journal may result in a MCH3203 message with a from program of #dbfmtje for some of the file record level journal entries generated by the operation. Note, the RGZPFM processing itself has no issues. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI82519. Once applied, retry the operation. SI82519 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 8. 31 Jan 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI81206 for IBM i 7.5 SI79439 for IBM i 7.5 SI78618 for IBM i 7.5 SI77504 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE79143 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i Operating System environments where ILE CL programs are used. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, the ILE CL compiler may not correctly handle CALL commands where parameters are passed. The incorrect compilation can result in a runtime exception or corruption. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI82517 and recompile any ILE CL programs that were built after any of the defective PTFs (SI77504 SI78618 SI79439 SI81206) were applied. SI82517 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 7. 13 Jan 2023 DEFECTIVE PTF: MH01946 for IBM i 7.5 MH01945 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5733910 APAR NUMBER: MB04386 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users with the following machine types/models: 9105-22A 9105-22B 9105-41B 9105-42A 9105-21A REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, the DSPFWSTS shows invalid states, such as: *TEMP *UNKNOWN *UNKNOWN ML1030_030 MH01946 Ingen *UNKNOWN FW1030.01 *PERM ML1020_085 MH01936 *NONE *NONE Ingen FW1020.10 *NONE. Also noted on the BMC are many occurrences of the error id, BD8D3609 RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MH01947 for IBM i 7.5. 6. 15 Dec 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70400 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA49967 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, restoring a group of objects that includes logical files or access paths may take longer than expected. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70540 for IBM i 7.5. MF70540 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 5. 22 Nov 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI81328 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE78918 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, GO LICPGM may experience issues attempting installs, and certain options may not display contents correctly. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI81867 for IBM i 7.5. SI81867 is included in cumulative PTF package C3110750. 4. 22 Nov 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF70094 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA49869 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: Physical files saved after applying the PTF may encounter partial damage after being restored. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing LIC PTF MF70335 and resave the affected file from the original source. MF70335 is included in cumulative PTF package C2321750. 3. 17 Oct 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI80935 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE78596 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users who use the CLRPOOL command. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, systems running many CLRPOOL commands will experience performance degradation, including excessive paging in the main storage pools. Each CLRPOOL command allocates an object and associated tasks and fails to deallocate the object and terminate the tasks. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI81306. Note that PTF SI81306 is a distribution requisite of the latest Technology Refresh (TR) PTF. If you have applied the latest TR PTF to your system, you should apply the fixing PTF SI81306 for IBM i 7.5. SI81306 is included in cumulative PTF package C2321750. 2. 19 Aug 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI80863 for IBM i 7.5 SI79764 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE78340 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, a large number of commit definitions can accumulate which can result in a long C900 2AA1 IPL step or a long Commit Recovery during IASP vary on. RECOMMENDATION: Apply fixing PTF SI80882. The fixing PTF will prevent further accumulation of commit definitions. The next IPL or IASP vary on may still be long (possibly greater than 12 hours) depending on the number of commit definitions that have accrued. See https://ibm.biz/BdPZfJ to determine if this exposure exists. An IPL or IASP vary on should not be attempted until the impact of this issue is understood for your system. SI80882 is included in cumulative PTF package C2321750. 1. 03 Jun 2022 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI78809 for IBM i 7.5 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE78003 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system remote journal users. REASON DEFECTIVE: After applying the PTF, retrieving remote journal entries can result in object and library values that are *UNKNOWN. RECOMMENDATION: Either remove the defective PTF or apply the fixing PTF SI80094. Then, delete any remote journal receivers with object and library values that are *UNKNOWN and restart remote journal. SI80094 is included in cumulative PTF package C2321750. OMITTING A PTF -------------- Refer to Appendix A in the detailed cumulative PTF package installation instructions.
