REASON DEFECTIVE: When using the System Snap function (SYSSNAP)of MGTOOLS to collect data and store it in the IFS, the tool creates a directory under /tmp to store the requested data. In very rare circumstances, the program will get an error and use /qibm as the IFS structure, resulting in the removal of the contents of that directory. It should be noted that only IBM Licensed Program Products use the /qibm directory, and there is no exposure to client data residing in the IFS in other directories. To avoid the unlikely occurrence of the SYSSNAP collection clearing data in the /qibm directory, use the OUTPUT parameter to store the output in a physical file (*PF) rather than the IFS (*IFS). In the unlikely event that this problem is encountered, you should call 1-800-IBM-SERV (1-800-426-7378) to open a PMR with the IBM i Software Support team to determine the appropriate recovery option. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing PTF SI55312 for i 7.1. SI55312 is included in cumulative PTF package C5142710. 29. 08 Oct 2014 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF58722 for i 7.1 MF58744 for i 7.1 MF58769 for i 7.1 MF58782 for i 7.1 MF58829 for i 7.1 MF58886 for i 7.1 MF58912 for i 7.1 MF58972 for i 7.1 MF59006 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA44121 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: The PTF prevents the reuse of temporary result sets within an SQL query plan. This can degrade query performance, especially when a query runs repetitively. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing LIC PTF MF59240 for i 7.1. MF59240 is included in cumulative PTF package C4283710. 28. 03 Oct 2014 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF58723 for i 7.1 MF58830 for i 7.1 MF58885 for i 7.1 MF58910 for i 7.1 MF58913 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA44114 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: Poor SQL performance when using ORDER BY clause and optimization goal of *FIRSTIO. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing LIC PTF MF59226 for i 7.1. REASON DEFECTIVE: An optical media formatted with file systems other than UDF will cause HFS and IFS file read operations to fail with message OPT1815. This may prevent optical devices from being used to install program fixes. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing LIC PTF MF58616 for i 7.1. MF58616 is included in cumulative PTF package C4143710. 25. 15 May 2014 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF58350 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA43763 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i 7.1 operating system users with defective LIC PTF MF58350 applied. REASON DEFECTIVE: Unloading a virtual optical volume using LODIMGCLGE OPTION(*UNLOAD) or LODIMGCLG OPTION(*UNLOAD) can leave a mutex lock on the IFS file containing the virtual volume. Subsequent operations may hang indefinitely. The hang may include PWRDWNSYS, and the recovery may require an HMC immediate power down to recover. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing LIC PTF MF58616 for i 7.1. MF58574 is included in cumulative PTF package C4143710. 24. 15 May 2014 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF58350 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA43763 Item updated 15 May 2014, see Item 25. 23. 05 May 2014 DEFECTIVE PTF: SI52363 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770SS1 APAR NUMBER: SE59035 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i 7.1 operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: Systems may experience three unique problems after applying PTF SI52363 and PTF MF99008: 1) An exception occurs when a 6B25 adapter is logically removed from a partition through either DLPAR or Copy Services toolkit operations while attempting to deallocate internal resources used to manage the target ports zoned to the virtual adapter. The exception makes the virtual adapter unusable until the partition is re-IPLed. 2) Performance degradation may be experienced on devices attached to D/T576B Fibre Channel adapter. 3) When using proxy ARP for a Virtual IP address (VIPA) where the VIPA is set as the associated local interface for the physical interface addresses, all TCP/IP function may hang if there are duplicate routes (same destination and mask) with equal priority bound to the same interface. Processors may be seen looping in #TOIRHDL. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing PTF SI53241 to i 7.1. Note that PTF SI52363 is a distribution requisite of PTF MF99008. If you have applied PTF MF99008 to your system, you should apply the fixing PTF SI53241. REASON DEFECTIVE: One or more of the following symptoms may occur: 1. Repetitive index invalidation and rebuild. 2. Some scenarios may require an IPL due to an application hang at the job level during a SELECT FROM FINAL TABLE (INSERT SQL statement, possibly leading to the hang of other jobs/applications, depending on the resources held by the initial job/application. 3. Incorrect records returned from SELECT FROM FINAL TABLE (INSERT SQL statement. RECOMMENDATION: Apply the fixing LIC PTF MF57986 for i 7.1. REASON DEFECTIVE: When LIC PTF MF56979 is applied, a rare situation may occur in which a few customers may encounter a problem. This situation occurs only if a given table and one associated index is used for more than 100 distinct predicates that select more than 30 million rows from the table. IF LIC PTF MF56979 is applied, the running of queries that involve predicates (selection criteria) that require key range estimates and have estimates larger than 30 million rows may result in a job getting into a tight loop, causing the job to consume CPU and possibly lock resources. These resources may be files or records. If this situation occurs, the job cannot be ended and an IPL is required or you can contact your local support for assistance. (Key range estimate is a method that the optimizer uses to gain more accurate estimates of the number of expected rows to be selected from one or more selection predicates.) RECOMMENDATION: If LIC PTF MF56979 is applied, apply the fixing LIC PTF MF57329. If LIC PTF MF56979 is loaded but not applied, do not apply it. MF57329 is included in cumulative PTF package C3298710. 16. 22 Jul 2013 DEFECTIVE PTF: MF55583 for i 7.1 LICENSED PROGRAM = 5770999 APAR NUMBER: MA42862 USERS AFFECTED: All IBM i operating system users. REASON DEFECTIVE: IBM i customers who have 7.1 PTF MF55583 applied and you are running with maximum key length indexes greater than 1014 (as shown on DSPFD) will receive unpredictable results when performing access path operations.
