If using the Rational Portfolio Manager import/export
function, Microsoft Project 2000, Microsoft Project 2002 and Microsoft Project
2003 are supported. Microsoft Project must be installed before installing
Rational PM. Ensure you have the latest drivers for Microsoft Jet and Microsoft
Data Access Components (MDAC). You can obtain the MDAC 2.8 driver from the
Microsoft downloads website.

Rational Portfolio Manager users need an IBM ID, which is acquired by registering at https://www.ibm.com/account/profile?page=reg
Prior to requesting access to Rational PM, non-IBM Rational PM
users must register their Rational PM ID to be able to log into Rational PM.
The IBM Registration process is simple and only takes a few minutes to
complete. Here are the steps:
- Go to https://www.ibm.com/account/profile?page=reg
- If you are a New Rational PM user, choose an IBM ID and inform
the manager of your project of the IBM ID you have selected (see the special
rules below). Your PM is responsible for approving your access to Rational PM
and will request your IBM ID to be added to Rational PM.
- If you are an existing Rational PM user, enter your exact Rational PM login ID (also called your
Rational PM USERID) in the "IBM ID" field (see the special rules
below).
- Enter a password.
- Create a security question and answer.
- Enter your email address (see the special rules below).
- Enter some information about yourself, as required on the form.
- Choose to 'opt out' of being contacted if so desired.
Special Rules for Registering UserIDs
for Rational PM:
- There must be no "ibm.com"
in the name chosen as your "IBM ID." The IBM ID must not contain
"ibm.com." For example, ADMIN@xxx.ibm.com has "ibm.com" in
it and will not work. IBM IDs must be something like ADMIN@admin.com,
or jane.smith@internet.com for example.
- There must be no "ibm.com"
in ANY field in the IBM Registration, including
the email address of the person registering.
- The IBM ID and the 'email address' do NOT have to be a valid
email address. However if you would like to be notified by IBM Registration
about password problems (like when your PW is inactivated by multiple incorrect
login attempts) you must use a valid email address to receive such notices.
- These three characters may be allowed by the IBM Registration
process but are not allowed by Rational PM: (

Do not use any of these Rational PM special characters in your IBM
ID.
Uninstalling previous
versions
Follow the
uninstall procedures described in the Rational PM Installation Guide.
Installation Guide
You must download
and read the installation guide (right click and save the guide for
offline viewing and printing, left click to view the guide on-line). The guide
contains information about prerequisites and instructions necessary for a
successful Rational PM installation. If you are having
trouble viewing PDF files, upgrade to Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.x or higher.
