************************************************************************ * * * Install the VM DETERSE MODULE for later FTP usage * * * ************************************************************************ It is possible that you already have the DETERSE MODULE on your VM/ESA system. (Such as VM/ESA 2.3.0 users, as it comes as part of VMSES/E on the MAINT 5E5 disk, or ServiceLink users.) If you already have the DETERSE MODULE then you do not need to retrieve it from this ftp site and therefore do not have to continue with any instructions in this readme file. This procedure provides the instructions so that IBM customers can obtain the DETERSE MODULE from an IBM FTP site. The DETERSE MODULE should be used to unterse VM service received through the internet. 1) If you do not have the DETERSE MODULE installed on your local VM system, obtain the module from the IBM FTP site using the following information and instructions. ftp service.software.ibm.com and login with: USER: anonymous PASSWORD: your complete e-mail address Once you login into the ftp site: Issue: CD s390/vm/tools/deterse/files Issue: BIN F 1024 (to set up binary mode transmission fixed record length 1024) Issue: GET deterse.bin deterse.module Issue: QUIT (to get back to your VM session) Once the DETERSE MODULE is FTP'ed you need to copyfile unpack it. This is because the DETERSE MODULE was copyfile packed before it was stored on the ftp site. From the VM command line: Issue: COPYFILE DETERSE MODULE fm = = = (OLDD REPLACE UNPACK (where fm is the filemode) 2) After the VM DETERSE MODULE is installed and tested, you should share this information with your colleagues who work with the IBM support center, so they can also utilize DETERSE if they order service over the Internet or receive documentation from the IBM support center through the service ftp site.
