Ref: Append at 07:21:07 on 96/09/03 GMT (by 83432055 at EHONE) Both the creation date and expiration date in tape labels are 6 byte fields containing cyyddd with the following definition: c = century (blank=19; 0=20; 1=21; etc.) yy = year (00-99) ddd = day (001-366) Since your example does not state the value of the century bit, I cannot say if it will be interpreted as 1900 or 2000. However, if you used normal IBM supplied software to create this date, it should be correct for MVS as we have supported the century bit since prior to MVS V4 and DFP V3. Be aware that you may also need to understand how your tape management system is handling expiration dates as well. DFSMSrmm permits the expiration date to be overridden by values specified in the policy routines. Because of the continual updates we provide for this book, the online version is ALWAYS the most current. That is, currently you could order it from Mechanicsburg and receive the -02 level, access the Web for the -03 level, OR wait approximately another week and receive the -04 version from either. The book will be available on the MVS CD Collection Kit for OS/390 Release 2, but again because of our continual updates to this book, and the lead time to produce these, it too will be less current than that available on the web or from your marketing rep (through their access to IBM MKTTOOLS). Many sections are updated in each successive edition, however, the most volatile section is the list of IBM Program Products that are currently year2000 ready (Appendix A) as we strive to make that list as complete as possible. The century digits are always zero. This field is set following a GU IOPCB call and are the date of the transaction instance. This field remains unchanged (for application compatibility). A new 12 byte field is added to the end of the IOPCB. This field is in extended IMS internal timestamp format, and includes date, time, and time zone offset values.
