1.0 About this fix pack

Fix pack 2 provides enhancements and fixes for the Rational Asset Analyzer, Version 5.5 release.

To download this fix pack and the latest version of this readme file, navigate to the fixes for this product on the IBM Support: Fix Central Web site.

Note: Installing the Rational Asset Analyzer Fix pack 2 is a prerequisite for using the z/OS Scan and Load functionality.

1.1 New in this fix pack

The following documents are added in this fix pack to enable installation, configuration and execution of the new z/OS Scan and Load functionality.

1.2 Product fixes

The following changes are incorporated in this fix pack:

Functional enhancements and fixes
  • Added support for remote Assembler, CICS, IMS and DB2 z/OS scanning from RAA Windows server
  • Improved batch update processing performance for container and classification scanning
  • Simplified DB2 scanner parm file; added site and instance records to import file
  • Fixed COBOL scanner to accept files with $ in column 7
  • Added support for ? wildcards in DB2 scanner input schema names
  • Initialized fields to avoid garbage characters and produce correct DEA records
  • Improved control flow and dead code detection with regard to COBOL II scope terminators, and SORT INPUT/OUTPUT PROCEDUREs.

2.0 Installation information

If you have any previous version of the Rational Asset Analyzer Version 5.5 product installed, you can install this fix pack without uninstalling that previous version. However, the z/OS Scan & Load Technology Preview for Rational Asset Analyzer Version 5.5 Fix pack 1 should be uninstalled prior to installing this fix pack. Additionally, ensure the import file data sets from the Technology Preview are deleted.

Use the Rational Asset Analyzer Migration Utility to migrate your database schema from 550 to 552. Refer to the Rational Asset Analyzer product Web site for more information and the utility download.

The Rational Asset Analyzer Fix pack 1 z/OS Scan & Load Technology Preview had a documented limitation that could result in the generation of duplicate Containers for Assembler source. The duplicate Containers (e.g. PDS= prefix) should be removed from the inventory if they exist. Further, it is recommended that the Assembler Containers be deleted from the inventory and re-analyzed using the Fix pack 2 capabilities. This activity should be performed for any migrated database that has Assembler source inventory, and is in lieu of dropping and re-creating the database.

The hardware and software prerequisites for this fix pack are the same as for Rational Asset Analyzer Version 5.5, however, a z/OS system on which to deploy the z/OS Scan and Load components is required to take advantage of the z/OS scan and load capabilities.

The local machine on which you are installing the fix pack must have a supported version of DB2, WAS and Open Object Rexx installed, and all must be verified to be working properly. For information about installing the product, hardware and software prerequisites, and memory requirements, see the IBM Rational Asset Analyzer Version 5 Release 5 Installation Guide. For an up-to-date list of system requirements, see the System requirements Web page.

This readme file and the information provided in the new z/OS Scan PDF documents supersede all previous details and instructions provided for the Rational Asset Analyzer Version 5.5 Fix pack 1 z/OS Scan & Load Technology Preview.

Download this fix pack from the IBM Support: Fix Central Web site, and then use the Installer wizard to install it.

Note: The Installer wizard will retain the settings from the Version 5.5 installation.

3.0 Known limitations

This fix pack has the following limitations:

  1. No support for DB2 catalog scanning on a Japanese system configured for Cp930 code page.
  2. The SVG scrollbars may be disabled. Due to open source legal issues, the scrollbars on SVG diagrams are disabled by default. There is a free download available to enable the scrollbars. Refer to the Rational Asset Analyzer product Web site for more information.
