Readme file for IBM WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer Technology Preview Version 6 Release 0, Modification Level 0 Program Number 5724-L44 This readme file provides installation information for the WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer v6.0 Technology Preview. The technology preview is available for downloading at the following Web site: http://www.ibm.com/software/awdtools/devzseries/ ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I. Technology preview content ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This technology preview adds the following functions to WebSphere Developer for zSeries v6.0: - Automatic scanning of COBOL and PL/I assets on the workstation - Search for declarations of data elements and programs - Search for declarations of data elements from the LPEX editors - Search against remote z/OS hosts - Automatic retrieval of z/OS assets through search results - Impact analysis for data elements ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- II. Technology preview limitations ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This technology preview has the following limitations: - Only COBOL and PL/I files are supported - COBOL and PL/I files that cannot be compiled will not be properly scanned - Path names cannot have spaces ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- III. Prerequisites ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- This technology preview requires a workstation with 768MB of RAM, 600MB of free space, and the following software installed: - Microsoft Windows 2000 with Service Pack 2+ or Microsoft Windows XP - WebSphere Developer for zSeries v6.0 - IBM DB2 V7.21 with Fixpack 6 or later, or IBM DB2 V8 - WebSphere Application Server (WAS) 5.1.x - IBM HTTP Server (an optional component of WAS) - IBM Object REXX for Windows V2.1 - Adobe Scalable Vector Graphics Plug-in V3.0 or later, for displaying impact analysis graphs - WebSphere Studio Asset Analyzer v4.1, to support searching assets on a z/OS host - WebSphere Developer for zSeries host components, to support editing of z/OS files ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ IV. Installing WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 1. If you are using IBM DB2 V7.21, you must set IBM DB2 to use the updated JDBC 2.0 software required by WebSphere Application Server. Open the \java12\inuse file and make sure it contains the text "JDBC 2.0". If it does not, follow these steps: a. Open a DB2 Command window. b. Change the current directory to \java12. c. Type usejdbc2.bat. d. Recheck the \java12\inuse file. 2. Ensure that you have met all of the prerequisites. 3. Download the install image, wdaaconsole.exe, to a temporary location on your workstation. 4. Start WebSphere Application Server. 5. Start the installation program, wdaaconsole.exe. 6. Select your installation language. 7. If you are shown a prompt that says, "WD/z was not detected on this machine. You must enter an install password to proceed," you do not have WebSphere Developer for zSeries Version 6.0 installed on your workstation. This technology preview will not install without WebSphere Developer for zSeries Version 6.0. Please do not contact IBM to request an install password; one will not be provided. 8. Read and accept the license agreement. 9. When prompted for an install directory, make sure that the path does not contain spaces. The default value is C:\dmh. 10. Select a typical install. 11. Ensure that the Java, WAS, DB2, and HTTP Server directories provided point to the proper locations and then click "Next." 12. Ensure that your install of WD/z is in the location indicated and then click "Next." 13. Clear the check box next to "Enable distributed assets support" and click "Next." 14. When prompted for the host information about this machine, follow these steps: a. For Host name, use the provided IP address only if the machine has a static IP address; otherwise, specify "localhost." b. Unless your HTTP server is configured differently, keep the default port of 80. c. Unless your HTTP server is configured differently, keep the default value of http. 15. When prompted for properties to use when creating the DB2 database, enter a username and password with DB2 administrator privileges. 16. Ensure that the WebSphere Application Server information is correct. 17. Enter the username and password if you have Global security enabled on WAS. 18. Accept the default log and temp directories, provided that the WAS process user ID has read/write access to them. 19. On the summary information page, click "Next" to start the install. After installation is complete, check the result for errors. 20. When the installation has finished, restart your machine. 21. Restart WAS before using WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ V. Uninstalling WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- To uninstall WebSphere Developer Asset Analyzer, follow these steps: 1.
