This file contains instructions on how to install these fixes for WebExplorer and a list of the APARs that have been fixed. The executable provided is a self-extracting zip file. Run the executable, specifying the directory where you want the files to be unpacked to. For example: WEBXV11F.EXE D:\UNZIP would unpack the WEBXV11F.EXE packed file to D:\UNZIP directory. After unpacking, you should have the following files: - either explore.bmp, if you have the non-secure version, or secexp.bmp, if you have the secure US version, or expexp.bmp, if you have the secure export version. - explore.dsc - explore.ex_ - explore.icf - explore.lst - explore.pkg - explore.rsp - install.exe - install.in_ - rmpii.exe (if you have the secure export version) - read.me - readme.1st - service.txt (this file) This version is a total replacement of WebExplorer code. To install: 1- Make backup copies of the following existing files (note: depending on which version of WebExplorer that you are running, some of the files may not exist): /bin/explore.exe (if you have the non-secure version) /bin/swebex.exe (if you have the secure version) /bin/explore.ico /bin/viewstrt.exe /dll/webexurl.dll /dll/webexwin.dll /help/explore.hlp /help/webexurl.hlp /help/webng.htm 2- Change to the directory where the self-extracting zip file was unpacked to. 3- Type install and press Enter. 4- Follow the on-screen installation instructions. NOTE: Please note that the window in which all the default target directories are listed is scrollable. If you do not want to take the default directories, you will need to scroll the window down to reach the entries at the bottom of the list. This file lists all the APARs that were fixed in this version and the previous version since the fixes are cumulative. WebExplorer V1.1f (09/13/96): ----------------------------- A new function is added to WebExplorer to define domains which do not require the use of a proxy server. This function helps to decrease the use of a proxy server for sites which do not require its use. This function is provided via the "No Proxy For" option (in the Configure/Servers panel). This version of WebExplorer contains the following APAR fixes: IC13903 - WebExplorer only saves forms data on the first submission. Therefore, reloading the resulting page will use the data from the first submission, not the last submission. IC14800 - Swapper grows when using WebMap and could crash WebExplorer. IC14858 - WebExplorer is not displaying accented characters in places like ALT=, Form buttons, links, NewsGroup, Mailto. IC14988 - WebExplorer was denied access when the server did not return a "realm=..." string in the header In the past, separate SERVICE.TXT files were shipped with non-secure WebExplorer, secure US WebExplorer, and secure export WebExplorer. Starting with WebExplorer 1.1f, only one common SERVICE.TXT file is used. In the secure versions of WebExplorer 1.1f, the corresponding APARs are: PN89138 - same as IC13903 (secure US) PN89139 - same as IC13903 (secure export) PN89140 - same as IC14800 (secure US) PN89141 - same as IC14800 (secure export) PN89142 - same as IC14858 (secure US) PN89143 - same as IC14858 (secure export) PN87594 - same as IC14988 (secure US) PN89144 - same as IC14988 (secure export) Installation Note: If you have installed 1.1f over a previously translated version of WebExplorer, you should rename explore.dll so it will not be used. This is probably in your tcpip directory. You can find it easily by switching to your tcpip directory and then using the directory command specifying the subdirectory search. Then change to the directory where the file exists and rename it. For example: > cd \tcpip > dir explore.dll /s returns message about where the file is, e.g. c:\tcpip\MSG\JAJP932 > cd msg\jajp932 > rename explore.dll explore.org When you start WebExplorer again, you will have the proper menus and the text will be in English.
