VisualAge for Smalltalk
Fixpak 4.02b
A frequent problem that many users are having with VisualAge Generator
is that they are not applying VisualAge for Smalltalk FixPak 4.02b which
is required to run VisualAge Generator Developer. This information
is documented in the readme files shipped with the VisualAge Generator
product refresh CD and also the VisualAge Generator FixPak1 CD as follows:

If you are installing VisualAge Generator 3.0 FixPak1:
Make sure you complete step #2 in the VisualAge Generator FixPak1 readme
under 'VisualAge Generator Developer' correctly before going to step #3.
To verify your installation, look at the file ...\vast\esvm40.dll.
It should be dated 10/23/97. If it is not, go back and redo step
#2.

If you are installing IBM VisualAge Generator 3.0 Refresh:
Make sure you complete step #3 in the VisualAge Generator product refresh
CD readme under 'General Installation' correctly before going to step #4.
To verify your installation, look at the file ...\vast\esvm40.dll.
It should be dated 10/23/97. If it is not, go back and reapply step
#3.

Point of Clarification about 4.02b
The readme.txt and readme.htm files on the VisualAge Generator v3.0
Refresh CD refer to the VisualAge for Smalltalk FixPak 4.02b.
In the section titled, "General Installation", point 5e.iv contains the
sentence:
In addition, the VisualAge for Smalltalk Version 4.02b FixPak is automatically
installed during this step.
It should read:
In addition, the VisualAge for Smalltalk Version 4.02b FixPak is automatically
loaded during this step.
VisualAge Generator v3.0
GA and FixPak1
This applies to those who are installing VisualAge Generator 3.0 GA
and then VisualAge Generator 3.0 FixPak1. This does NOT apply to those
who are installing the refresh version of VisualAge Generator 3.0.
Some of the files of VisualAge for Smalltalk FixPak 4.02b will get overwritten
if you have installed VisualAge for Smalltalk 4.0 and VisualAge for Smalltalk
FixPak 4.02b prior to installing VisualAge Generator Developer v3.0 GA.
If you are in the above situation then you should again install VisualAge
4.02b on top of what you already have.
