Use an ASCII text editor to open the README file. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 2.0 ABOUT THIS FIX PACK 2.1 Support for "startposition" attribute restored (IR53378) The "startposition" attribute in IVS metafiles allows you to specify an exact timecode in the video at which to start streaming. For example, a value of 00:00:15:00 will cause the video to start streaming 15 seconds into the video. This function stopped working in the previous fix pack (FP3), but has been corrected in this fix pack. 2.2 Tolerate NAT translation of the server IP address (IR54805) Enhancements have been made to the VideoCharger Server and Player to better tolerate VideoCharger Servers that are behind a NAT firewall. 2.3 ATTEMPT TO STREAM THROUGH AT&T NET CLIENT (IO00195) The VideoCharger Player sometimes would not receive packets when attempting to stream TCP from a VideoCharger Server when a VPN such as the AT&T Network Client is used. This has been corrected in this fix pack. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 3.0 INSTALLING THE VIDEOCHARGER PLAYER No changes have been made to the VideoCharger Player installation in this fix pack. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 4.0 CONFIGURING THE VIDEOCHARGER PLAYER 4.1 Enabling kiosk mode (IR52550) You can now configure the VideoCharger Client plug-in to run in a "kiosk" mode. This mode disables the pause button, and hides the mouse cursor whenever it hovers over the video window. To enable kiosk mode, complete the following steps: 1. Enter the "regedit" command in Windows. The Registry Editor opens. 2. Expand HKEY_CURRENT_USERS --> Software --> IBM --> ISCView --> Settings, and click "kiosk mode". 3. Right-click kiosk mode and click Modify. The Edit DWORD value window opens. 4. In the Value data field, type 1 and click OK. As a result, the plug-in disables the mouse cursor and the buttons that would normally be shown by right clicking on the video window. To restore normal plug-in behavior, repeat the steps above but type 0 instead. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 5.0 PLAYING MEDIA FILES IN THE VIDEOCHARGER PLAYER -------------------------------------------------------------------- 6.0 TROUBLESHOOTING THE VIDEOCHARGER PLAYER 6.1 Installation: Solving a bad mfc42u.dll file Problem: When installing the VideoCharger Player, an error message about a bad mfc4u.dll file displays. Cause: Your Windows system has a bad version of C:\WINNT\System32\mfc42u.dll. Another program possibly altered this file. Solution: Update your Windows system to the latest service pack. -------------------------------------------------------------------- 7.0 CUSTOMER SUPPORT 7.1 Online support Fixes can be found at ftp://ftp.software.ibm.com/ps/products/videocharger/ For the latest information on VideoCharger refer to http://www.ibm.com/software/data/videocharger/ Frequently Asked Questions can be found at http://www.ibm.com/software/data/videocharger/support.html -------------------------------------------------------------------- 8.0 NOTICES This information was developed for products and services offered in the U.S.A.
