This section of the documentation provides information to help you get started with WebSphere Everyplace Access. It provides a product overview and instructions and information to help you install and configure WebSphere Everyplace Access Services as well as prerequite software. This Getting Started guide is intended for people who are planning for or installing WebSphere Everyplace Access. WebSphere Everyplace Access provides a comprehensive solution for you mobile enterprise. It provides a rich platform for developing custom applicaitons for you mobile work force. This document helps you install WebSphere Everyplace Access in your network.
Installers should have experience with and knowledge of database software, general networking, and
firewalls. Knowledge of WebSphere Application Server and WebSphere Portal Server is also beneficial.
Below are some conventions that can help you interpret the information that is provided
in this Information Center:
- File names, directories, and commands appear in sans serif font.
For example:
- File name: install.bat
- Directory: /opt/WebSphere/PortalServer
- Command: startServer WebSphere_Portal
- Variables are either italicized, enclosed in brackets, or both. For
example:
- http://<hostname.yourco.com>/wps/portal
- The following variables are used to indicate a root installation directory:
- WebSphere Everyplace Access root installation directory: wea_root
- WebSphere Portal root installation directory: wp_root
- WebSphere Application Server root installation directory: was_root
- Directories are shown with forward slashes (/), unless
operating-system specific information is provided. On Windows systems,
you should use backward slashes (\) when typing at a command line, unless otherwise noted.

- AIX: ./WPSconfig.sh backup-main-cfg-file
- Windows: WPSconfig.bat backup-main-cfg-file
