IBM DirectTalk Speech Technologies using ViaVoice CSD 2, IP22312 & IP22360 ========================================================================== README File =========== Welcome to the IBM DirectTalk Speech Technologies using ViaVoice CSD 2. Please pay careful attention to the information in this README to ensure that the installation runs correctly. This README is made up of the following parts: 1. General information and installation instructions 2. Description of the new ViaVoice function PART I: GENERAL INFORMATION AND INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS --------------------------------------------------------- This CSD updates IBM DirectTalk Speech Technologies using ViaVoice server code. The following is a summary of the CSD information provided: * Warnings and notes to consider before installation * Procedure for determining the installed version of DirectTalk Speech Technologies. * Procedure for installing the CSD Warnings and Notes ------------------ Warnings: This CSD is for installation on the DirectTalk Speech Technologies using ViaVoice server and supercedes all previous CSDs for these products. It applies to the following DirectTalk products and versions ONLY: o IBM DirectTalk Speech Recognition for Windows using ViaVoice Technology, version 1.2.1 (5639-L85) as PTF IP22312 o IBM DirectTalk Text to Speech for Windows, using ViaVoice Technology, version 1.2.0 (5639-M70) as PTF IP22360 Do not install it on any other version, and do not install this CSD if a later one has already been installed. This CSD requires a co-requisite update, update 2, to be installed on any IBM DirectTalk for Windows systems that access this ViaVoice server. The DirectTalk for Windows systems must be at ServicePak 5, version 3.0.5, in order to apply the update. It is planned that DirectTalk for Windows systems at versions higher than 3.0.5 will incorporate this update. The update is available as a download from the internet only, from the following URL: ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/directtalk_win/fixes/servicepak see file readme_1st.txt, located at this URL, for details of the update files. Procedure to determine the installed version of DirectTalk Speech Technologies ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This CSD applies to the version of DirectTalk Speech Technologies installed from the ViaVoice CD-ROM numbered LCD4-4353-02. If you are unsure that you have this version of DirectTalk Speech Technologies, then check the Viavoicephone directory on the server for a file named getvvpd.exe. If this file exists then the correct version of the DirectTalk Speech Technologies is installed and you can apply this CSD. Installing the DirectTalk Speech Technologies CSD ------------------------------------------------- Before you can install this ServicePak you must have previously installed one of the following: o IBM DirectTalk Speech Recognition for Windows using ViaVoice Technology, version 1.2.1 o IBM DirectTalk Text to Speech for Windows, using ViaVoice Technology, version 1.2.0 To install the CSD: 1. Close all the DirectTalk sessions on all nodes that access the ViaVoice server node and stop those nodes. 2. Stop the ViaVoice server node: a) On the ViaVoice server PC, bring up a command line window. b) Stop the ViaVoice processes using the following command: pm stop c) When all the processes have stopped, stop the ViaVoice Process Manager service with the following command: pm exit 3. Insert the CSD into the CD-ROM drive on the ViaVoice server system. 4. Open the CD-ROM drive object on the server PC. 5. Install the CSD by opening the root directory of the CD-ROM, double click on the Setup Launcher vv121csd2.exe and follow the on-screen instructions. Select YES when prompted to install the CSD. Note: If the DirectTalk Speech Technologies server was originally installed by an administrator, then you must have administrator rights to install the ServicePak. 6. After the install has completed you are prompted to restart Windows. Click Finish to restart. This will automatically restart the ViaVoice Process Manager which will restart the ViaVoice processes. Note: If you log on to Windows after the ViaVoice server has restarted you must not log off again otherwise the ViaVoice engines will be stopped by the log off processing. 7. This CSD provides a set of baseform pool files for the ViaVoice Speech Recognition engines to use when WebSphere Voice Server is active. These pools are installed in the \ViaVoicePhone\data\VoiceServer\\pools directories where locales can be one or more of En_US, Fr_FR, Gr_GR or En_UK depending on which languages are installed on the server. You should follow the instructions in the WebSphere Voice Server Users' Guide to copy these pools files to the \ViaVoice\vocabs\langs\\pools directories. 8. Before restarting the DirectTalk nodes, that access this ViaVoice node, you must install the co-requisite DirectTalk patch on those nodes. See the Warnings and Notes section, above, for details on where to get this patch. PART II: NEW DIRECTTALK SPEECH TECHNOLOGIES FUNCTION ---------------------------------------------------- This CSD enhances the DirectTalk Speech Technologies using ViaVoice server to provide function required by IBM Websphere Voice Server for DirectTalk. This CSD is required if you are using Websphere Voice Server for DirectTalk.
