Note to IBM customers: DB2 OLAP Server V8.1 FixPak 1 adds Administration Services, the new administration tool for managing and maintaining DB2 OLAP Server. Administration Services consists of a client console (Administration Services Console) and a middle tier server (Administration Server) that communicate directly with OLAP servers. The Administration Services Console provides a single point of access for viewing, managing, and maintaining the OLAP environment. For more information, see the Essbase Administration Services Online Help.

1. Download Installation Documentation ZIP File

1. Download the Installation Documentation ZIP file, listed below, from the FTP site.
2. Unzip all of the installation documentation files included.
3. Print the installation documentation for ease of reference.

This file contains the following documents:

eas_install.pdf	Provides detailed procedures for installing Essbase Administration Services.

Notes:

• System requirements and compatibility with OLAP Server release levels are described in the Installation Guide. Verify all requirements before installation.
• We recommend that you print the Installation Guide(s).
• After installing the software, you can access the Information Map, which contains links to all installed product documentation. The Information Map is located in the /eas directory of your Essbase Administration Services installation. Open launcher.htm in this directory.

2. Download Product Documentation ZIP File (Optional)

Note: The Product Documentation ZIP is a 12 MB file.

1. Download the Product Documentation ZIP file, located below the Installation Documentation ZIP file on the Software Download page.
2. Unzip the product documentation files to a directory you choose.
3. In the /easdocs directory, launch eas_infomap.htm to access the unzipped product documentation.

3. Download Essbase Administration Services Software Files

Download Software Files

1. Create a temporary directory on your local machine for copying files.
2. Select the appropriate file for your platform and download the file.
3. For Windows platforms, launch the installer by double-clicking the file or typing the name of the file (without the extension) from a command prompt.
4. To untar a downloaded UNIX file:
• Enter the following command from the temporary directory containing the .tar file:

tar -xf filename
This extracts the executable .bin file necessary for a complete installation.
• Launch the installer (.bin) file.
5. Refer to the Essbase Administration Services Installation Guide to complete the installation.
6. After the installation is complete, delete the entire temporary directory.

Notes to IBM customers:

1. On Windows, you must install Administration Services in the same directory as DB2 OLAP Server.  The Administration Services Installation Guide incorrectly states that you can install Administration Services in any directory.
2. During the installation on Windows clients, the Chose Shortcut Folder screen prompts you for a location to install the product icons.  Click In an existing Program Group and select IBM DB2 OLAP Server 8.1 from the menu.
