IBM
DB2 OLAP Server for AS/400, V7.1
Installation
and Setup of
SQL
Drill-Through
May
2001
This document describes how to install the SQL Drill-Through component
of DB2 OLAP Server for AS/400, Version 7.1. The SQL Drill-Through
component works with the Spreadsheet Add-in components.
To install SQL Drill-Through for Version 7.1,
you need to download and install a subset of the latest fixpak for Version
1.1.
Even though the SQL Drill-Through component has been frozen at the Version
1.1 level, it also works with Version 7.1 of DB2 OLAP Server for AS/400.
Installing SQL Drill-Through:
To install SQL Drill-Through, take these steps:
-
Make sure you have already installed the OLAP clients on the Windows workstation
on which you want to install the SQL Drill-Through component.
-
Download the OLAP Client portion of the DB2 OLAP Server for AS/400 V1.1
Fixpack 13a. (Although you can use Fixpak 9 or later, IBM recommends
that you get the latest fixpak, which, at this writing, is Fixpak 13a).
Download one of the following files, depending on your national language:
-
Unpack the 11us.zip file into a temporary folder.
-
Run the SETUP.EXE file to launch the install of the fixpak.
-
From the Essbase Products panel, select only
the SQL Drill-Through component. Do not
select any other component or product. If you select anything
else, you might overlay V7.1 code with V1.1 code. You screen should
look like this before you click Next.
-
On the Client Setup and Destination Directory panel, click Browse
and locate the directory where your OLAP 7.1 Spreadsheet Add-in files are
installed. The default installation directory is C:\Program Files\IBM\Olap
Client Only. Your screen should look like this:
-
Click OK and continue with the installation process. After all files are
installed, make sure ESSBASE.ini file in your windows install directory
(either C:\Windows or C:\WINNT) has a section called
[ADDIN].
This section adds a menu item for SQL Drill-Through to the Essbase menu
in your Lotus 1-2-3 or MS Excel spreadsheet.
SQL Drill-Through is now installed.
Troubleshooting tips:
-
During installation, you might need to specify a different path if your
Spreadsheet Add-in files are not in the default directory.
-
If you had previously installed the Version 1.1 OLAP Clients installed
on the workstation, your Essbase.ini file might already have the
[ADDIN]
section.
-
If you uninstall and then reinstall the Version 7.1 OLAP Clients, the [ADDIN]
entry could be deleted, and you would have to replace before using SQL
Drill-Through. Make a backup copy of your Essbase.ini file before
uninstalling and reinstalling the OLAP 7.1 Clients.
-
If you have files listed in the [ADDIN] section other than sqldriln.dll,
please make sure those files actually exist in that directory. Otherwise
you will get an error when DB2 OLAP tries to load the Spreadsheet Add-in.
Removing SQL Drill-Through:
The uninstall program for the Version 7.1 clients does not uninstall SQL
Drill-Through. You must remove SQL Drill-Through manually from the
OLAP installation directory on your Windows workstation.
